In the distant future, where the remnants of Earth's societies have spread across the galaxy, there existed a planet named Galathar. Known for its lush forests and abundant wildlife, Galathar was a place where magic and advanced technology coexisted. The planet was home to various sentient species, including the wise and reclusive Elvarins, an ancient race of elf-like beings.
Thaldrin, an elder Elvarin, lived deep within the mystical forests of Galathar. He was known for his unparalleled knowledge of the planet's flora and fauna, as well as his expertise in ancient magic. Thaldrin was content with his solitary life, tending to his garden and gathering berries from the surrounding woods. One day, as he was enjoying a bowl of freshly picked blue berries, his peace was shattered by the sudden appearance of a holographic message.
The message was from the Galactic Federation, urgently calling for Thaldrin's help. The planet's capital, Valoria, was under siege by a hostile alien force known as the Drakthar, who had long sought to conquer Galathar for its rich resources. The Battle of Pisagua, a strategic location near Valoria, was raging, and the Federation's forces were overwhelmed.
Thaldrin knew that his tranquil existence was about to change. He reluctantly left his forest home and traveled to Valoria, where he was greeted by the Commandant of Midshipmen, Admiral Alaric. The Admiral, a stern yet honorable man, briefed Thaldrin on the dire situation. The Drakthar had deployed their most advanced amphibious warfare ships, wreaking havoc on the Federation's defenses.
With his deep understanding of both magic and technology, Thaldrin devised a plan. He would use his magical abilities to harness the natural energies of Galathar, creating a powerful shield around Pisagua. Meanwhile, the Federation's forces would launch a counterattack, using Thaldrin's enchanted weaponry to pierce the Drakthar's defenses.
As the battle raged on, Thaldrin stood at the front lines, his presence a beacon of hope for the beleaguered defenders. His magic flowed through the air, creating a shimmering barrier that repelled the Drakthar's relentless assaults. The Federation's soldiers, inspired by Thaldrin's bravery, fought with renewed vigor.
Amidst the chaos, Thaldrin encountered a young Federation officer named Lieutenant Mira, who was tasked with leading the ground troops. Together, they coordinated their efforts, blending Thaldrin's magical prowess with Mira's tactical genius. The tide of the battle began to turn, and the Drakthar found themselves on the defensive.
In a final, desperate push, the Drakthar deployed their flagship, an immense amphibious warship capable of devastating destruction. Thaldrin knew that this was the pivotal moment. Channeling the full extent of his magical power, he summoned a storm of energy that engulfed the enemy vessel, tearing it apart and sending it crashing into the sea.
With their flagship destroyed, the Drakthar's forces began to retreat, their morale shattered. The Battle of Pisagua was won, and the people of Galathar cheered in victory. Thaldrin, exhausted but triumphant, returned to his forest home, where he resumed his peaceful life, knowing that he had played a crucial role in saving his beloved planet.
And so, the legend of Thaldrin, the elder Elvarin who stood against the Drakthar, became a cherished tale on Galathar, a testament to the power of courage, wisdom, and the indomitable spirit of those who fight for their home.

PART ONE
Tumblr media
The sun was nowhere to be found over Hawkins. Only dark, dense clouds that gathered together in the sky with a promise of rain. Most people were filled with dread when they saw the projected forecast. Steve, however, craved the perfect summer shower. Over the past week, he spent every evening perched on the couch, directly in front of the TV, clinging to the local meteorologist’s words as he explained the chance for rain increased every day. After getting ready, he darted to his dresser, quickly retrieving a tiny, black velvet box from the top drawer before making his way to the window. Despite the lack of moisture falling from the sky, he smiled as he clutched the ring box tightly, taking in the gloomy weather. There was no doubt about it in his mind, today was the day.
Unbeknownst to a single soul, he traveled to downtown Indianapolis and bought the ring six months prior from the most renowned jeweler in Indiana. He scoured for the most perfect ring, carefully examining every option within his budget. Until he saw it, the only ring that he could envision sitting on her dainty little ring finger. A simple 2 carat solitaire diamond on a plain yellow gold band. It was worth every hour of overtime he worked at the video store. Now the same ring felt as though it was burning a hole in his pocket as he sat across from the most beautiful girl at dinner.
“I would do unspeakable things for that cheesecake,” she exclaimed, the sound of her voice pulling him from his thoughts. He chuckled, shaking his head from side-to-side as he withdrew his wallet, overlooking the check. “I’ll be sure to make a mental note of that for the next time you tell me you’re craving cheesecake.” They both laughed as Steve counted out the appropriate amount of money, tucking the cash into the patent leather booklet and sitting it towards the edge of the table. He quickly glanced out the window as he deposited his wallet into the back pocket of his jeans, examining the weather, only to be disappointed. Not a drop of rain in sight. Although disheartened, he turned back to her with a smile as he stood, extending his hand to her. “You ready, baby?” She flashed her signature smile as she took his hand and followed his lead out of the restaurant. Heading in the direction of his beamer, they took their time, strolling down the sidewalk of downtown, hand-in-hand. Y/N snuggled closer, clutching his hand tightly as she wrapped the opposite arm around his, grasping his bicep as she lied her head on his shoulder. His heart skipped a beat when he heard a sigh of contentment fall from her lips. He slipped his free hand into his pocket, double-checking to ensure the ring box was still in place. He wanted to get down on his knee right then and there but he forced himself not to, promising nothing but the very best for his girl. He wanted the moment to be absolutely perfect, knowing the memory would be be engraved in their minds forever.
Just as the couple began to cross the street, a single raindrop fell directly onto Steve’s nose. He felt another hit the back of his hand that held hers, followed by another and another. Before he knew it, there was a sound of steady pitter-patter, which matched that of his heart, as rain fell from the sky and onto everything around them. She yelped, clinging to him as close as their bodies would allow, trying to avoid the rain and failing miserably. “Steve!” She exclaimed, holding her free hand over her head. “Is this actually happening?” He asked aloud. He couldn’t believe it, everything was falling into perfect place. His heart felt as though it was going to burst out of his chest and onto the wet pavement. He smiled from ear to ear, tightening his grip around her hand and guiding her, sprinting to his car. Despite the sound of constant, heavy rainfall, he could only focus on her and her sweet sounds. She couldn’t help but giggle as they ran and squealed whenever they stepped through puddles. By the time they approached his vehicle, they were both completely drenched from head to toe. Y/N laughed even harder upon examining her reflection in the window on the passenger side. She brushed a few wild hairs that fell in her face, sticking to her skin and obstructing her line of sight before she realized that Steve wasn’t behind her. She furrowed her brows, spinning around on her heels, eyes searching for her boyfriend. Only to find him kneeling on the pavement, one hand outstretched to her, while the other clutched something small in his palm.
She doesn’t register what’s happening until he starts to speak. “My sweet Y/N,” he started with a bright smile, despite his nerves. “I’ve been in love with you for as long as I can remember. Even as a kid, every time I envisioned my future, you were there.” She was frozen in place, mouth ajar as she hung onto every word that fell from his lips. “I want to experience the rest of my life with you by my side. I want to buy a big, white house with a wrap-around porch, so we can sit in rocking chairs, drinking coffee as our kids run around on Saturday mornings.” He blinked, attempting to rid himself of the heavy raindrops that coated his lashes. Even through his somewhat blurry vision, Steve saw her smile bigger than he had ever seen before. “I want to come home to you everyday. I want to be your safe haven whenever life gets rough. The good, bad, ugly.. I want to experience it all with you.” He paused, opening the small box, presenting the ring in all its elegant glory. Despite what was being presented to her, she never took her eyes off of him, even as m tears of happiness that fell down her cheeks. She was thankful they were disguised by the ongoing downpour. “I want nothing more than for you to have my last name. I will take care of you and love you like nobody else in this world can.” He took a deep, yet shaky breath.
“Will you make me the happiest man in the world? Marry me?” His eyes were locked with hers. “Please?”
Not even a second passed before she nodded her head excitedly, her smile extending from one ear to the other. “Yes!” She took his handsome face into her hands, desperately crashing her lips to his. He climbed to his feet and wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her off the ground and spinning in a circle, grinning against her lips. They kissed like they had never kissed before. He placed her back on the ground and quickly reached for her left hand. He retrieved the ring from the box and slid it onto her finger, breathing a sigh of relief at the perfect fit. He watched as she looked down, finally taking in the piece of jewelry in her hand. She gasped, her eyes flickering to his as she clung to his body. Even in the rain, under what seemed like pitch black skies, she could tell the ring was absolutely flawless. “I love you so much,” she grinned, pushing herself onto her tiptoes to find his lips again. “Not as much as I love you,” he promised against her lips. He pulled back with a grin, caressing her face in his hands as he studied her features like it was the very first time he laid eyes on her. “You’re beautiful,” he bent down and kissed her forehead before repeating the action to both cheeks. “But there’s something about my future wife soaking wet with the rain that drives me fucking crazy.” Her breath hitched, looking into his dark eyes as a wicked grin appeared on his handsome face. “Guess you’re going to have to take me home and warm me up, future husband.” Between her million dollar smile and the words that fell from her lips for the very first time, Steve was convinced he had died and gone to heaven. Life couldn’t get any better.
————————————————————————
Unfortunately, it didn’t rain on their wedding day. However, they were blessed with a thunderstorm the first night of their honeymoon.
The moment both newlyweds crossed the threshold of their suite, they were on one another. Without breaking apart from their kiss, they quickly peeled wet clothes off each other and crashed onto the bed. Steve kissed every inch of her naked body, causing her to writhe underneath him. “Baby,” she begged, watching as he left a trail of wet kisses down her stomach before making himself comfortable between her legs. “I’m right here. I’ve got you,” he cooed, kissing the inside of her thigh before repeating the action on the other. He lightly nipped her flesh, which forced a strangled moan to fall from her lips.
After satisfying his need to tease his wife, Steve licked a single stripe through her folds before diving in, devouring her wet pussy.
He had two goals in mind that night:
1.) Making her feel his love by forcing her to orgasm as many times as she physically could handle
2.) Providing her with enough pleasure that she moaned louder than the claps of thunder that rumbled the hotel
That night, he accomplished both goals with impressive ease.
————————————————————————
The distinct sound of rainfall drumming against the roof echoed throughout the house, eventually waking Steve. He threw back the fluffy white duvet and climbed out of bed, following the sweet aroma of coffee that led him to the kitchen. He found his preferred mug filled to the brim with the caramel colored liquid on the countertop, which made him smile as he ran a hand through his hair, attempting to calm his bed head. He grabbed the mug and lifted it to his lips, taking his first sip as he looked through the large window that overlooked the porch and their backyard.
The sight before him was a dream come true. His 2-year old son was running after their golden retriever, bursting into a giggle fit as the dog turned around and licked the toddler’s face. Steve laughed as he headed through the back door and onto the porch. “Good morning,” Y/N spoke in a quiet tone, barely audible over the rain. The mere sight of her jump started his heart. It didn’t matter how long they were together, he could never get enough of her. He sat the cup of coffee on the end table beside her, leaning down and kissing her lips. “Mmm. Good morning,” he mumbled, deepening the kiss. One hand lightly caressed her neck, while the other slipped inside her robe, ghosting over her breasts and down to her round, pregnant belly. “How’re my girls this morning?” He asked, applying the slightest bit of pressure in hopes of feeling their unborn child kick. When she did, his face lit up as he leaned forward, kissing the exact spot he felt her move. “Any day now, sweet pea. Mommy and daddy are ready whenever you are,” he spoke against her belly, while Y/N ran her hands through his hair, soothing the wild strands that stuck out in random directions.
“Daddy!“ The little boy, who was a mirror image of his father, beamed, jumping on Steve’s back and hugging him with all his might. “Hey buddy!” He chuckled, pretending to fall to the ground as the toddler tackled him. Turns out the domestic lifestyle that Steve always dreamed about wasn’t what he expected. It was infinitely better and he couldn’t get enough.

Comfortably Numb. Yan Chrollo x Reader [COMM]
warnings: mentions of anxiety, just general uneasiness. word count: 2.6k.
Tumblr media
Home is where the heart is.
It’s meant to be the sanctuary where you can unwind after a long day of work, dress in your most comfortable pajamas, and feel no qualms for the opinions of others. A safe haven of your own making. Granted, there was a time that you felt this way, no matter how long ago it seems. A coveted period of your life that you wish you could return back to. On a surface level, any onlooker might take a glance at you and think you are as normal as they are. If only that were the truth, you bitterly lament.
Now, what do you need to check on next? Milk is in good supply, not set to expire anytime soon. Hm… can’t say the same for the fruit. You jostle down some of your favorites onto the ever growing grocery list. What else is there? You’ve got to be missing something. Standing on your tiptoes, you open the overheard cabinet, that is now noticeably more barren than it used to be. The bags of tea that had once populated this area have vanished, all but a lonesome pack of matcha. Huffing, you close the cabinet doors, ready to voice your irritation.
Pivoting on your heel, you look over the kitchen counter and towards the occupied living room. “You drank all my tea?”
“Not at all of it,” your unwelcome guest corrects, much to your displeasure. “Besides, you never said I couldn’t have any.”
You raise an eyebrow at this conjecture. Who would’ve thought him a stickler for semantics. “Yeah, well, I never said you could have it either.”
“That’s a fair enough point. I’ll be sure to reimburse you for it later.” Chrollo ends the conversation before it even begins. His attention returns to his original activity of reading, freely helping himself to yet another one of your belongings. An exhausted sigh leaves your lips at the sight. If you somehow make it out of this situation unscathed, you may take on a more pious lifestyle, having survived way more than you should’ve. It’s a wonder that Chrollo hasn’t seen fit to strike you down where you stand. Where you lack self-restraint in the verbal department, you make up for it in your overall composure. Surely anyone else would’ve been crushed under the immense pressure of having a murderer crashing at their apartment.
That’s just about the best way to describe it, you think. How desensitized do you have to be to no longer shiver at the thought? In all fairness, Chrollo himself is treating this as the most ordinary arrangement in the world. At his own leisure he’ll start conversations with you, inquire about your day, and even offer insight that you never asked for. It’s gotten to the unfortunate point that you’re even starting to do the same. Treating him more as a peculiar roommate than the threat he truly is, though it could be your way of coping. That’s the explanation you’re going with.
Chrollo puts a bookmark into his read, and places it aside. “Is there anything you’d like for dinner?”
He asks the question as if it’s the most natural thing in the world. Your normally schooled expression is broken, lips parting and eyebrows furrowing together. Is he being serious right now? There’s no way to tell for certain. Not on a lack of trying from your behalf, his countenance never hints at his innermost thoughts. You get the feeling what little Chrollo does reveal to you is intentional. How creepy.
“I was just planning on warming up leftovers,” you accentuate this by opening your fridge. On the shelves sits lentil soup, apples, and some protein yogurts. Shit. “Scratch that. I’ll be settling for yogurt instead.”
“You had that for breakfast, if memory serves.” Chrollo points out, as if you’re incapable of remembering that yourself. It’s odd that he feels the need to pay attention to every detail about you. How often is Chrollo observing you without you taking notice? You push the thought aside with a frown.
“What are you, my hostage-taker and nutritionist? Besides, this is what I like to call a struggle meal. Or, meals, technically. I’ll go shopping tomorrow to make up for it.” You grimace while picking up the gourmet cuisine for tonight. Strawberry cheesecake flavor. It’s better with stuff added to it for texture, but this’ll have to do. It’s doubtful someone who is hiding a stolen merchandise worth hundreds of thousands can empathize with your position. Not that it matters if Chrollo Lucilfer holds you in high regard, with all the blood on his hands. He’s got no room to judge.
“Hm, in the time we’ve spent together, I never considered you as dense,” he gets up from his seat, making his way towards the kitchen. You don’t get a word in edgewise before your dinner is plucked from your hands. Chrollo places it back in the fridge, while you stare at him with a slackened jaw. “I’m offering to buy you food, [First].”
How considerate of him to spell it out for you.
“Appreciative as I am for your gesture of goodwill, I’ll pass. I don’t want to be indebted to you.” You make for the fridge once again, scowling as he holds it shut with unnatural force. Damn, he’s strong. Maybe you’re playing with fire by provoking him, considering the power imbalance, but your tongue is faster than your brain. Both a blessing and a curse. Leaning more towards the latter, you muse.
“I insist. It’s only right that I repay you somehow, for allowing me to stay here. You wouldn’t be indebted to me.” Chrollo’s smile never reaches his eyes, you notice. Standing here in close proximity to him, there’s a lot more you can pick up on. Every little detail of his disposition is intentional. From his even keel tone, to his polite speech, and way of acting like you have any say in the matter. You’re all bark and no bite. Both of you are keenly aware of this, and still he talks to you as if he’s none the wiser. It’s demeaning in its own right.
“I guess it is sacrilegious to turn down free food. Alright, you win.” You throw your hands up in mock defense. This uncomfortable interaction helped you remember the position you’re in, how every breath might be your last. He’s broken into your residence, forced you to hide him from encroaching hunters, and made your past ten days a living hell. It was the threats to your loved ones that ultimately earned your compliance.
You can’t help the self deprecation that’s followed since that day. The law is what you’re supposed to be protecting, not protecting criminals from. Going to the station everyday with the knowledge that you’re harboring such a dangerous criminal is weighing heavily on your soul. Life sure is full of the worst ironies. Had it not been an A class bounty, you may have stood a chance.
Chrollo reaches into the pocket of his jacket, pulling out one of his many burner phones. “You’re being more agreeable than I expected, if I’m being honest.”
“What can I say? I become a bit of a yes man when my life is being threatened.” You respond with an empty smile of your own. Instead of earning any ire from him, he lets out an airy chuckle, of dubious sincerity. Whether it’s at you or with you is difficult to decipher. He pulls up a food delivery app, showing you the options. This was all prepared in advance, he must’ve taken the time to download it. So it wasn’t a spur of the moment decision to mess with you?
“Y-you’re really letting me pick?” There’s no hiding your incredulous tone of voice. This series of events is far too bizarre to fathom, like a nightmare stepping into reality. Just a week ago you were contemplating how to poison Chrollo without him taking notice. Now you’re ordering food together. There has to be an ulterior motive lurking around, your gut won’t tell you otherwise.
He tilts his head at your apprehension, and repeats himself. “That’s what I said, yes.”
Fuck it. When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, or so the saying goes. You’ve suffered enough at Chrollo’s hands, it wouldn’t hurt to make the most of it. You take the cheap phone from his hands, scrolling through the options, and realizing now just how wonderful the variety of food sounds. Working up an appetite hasn’t come naturally with your uninvited guest skulking about. He has enough prepaid visa cards to cover what you want, so you hold nothing back.
After returning his phone to him, you can’t help but throw an additional sarcastic comment in. It’s second nature at this point. “Happy now?”
“Very much so,” Chrollo doesn’t mention your indignation, eyes raking over your expansive order. It’s not until he gets to the end that he quirks an eyebrow. “... A one hundred dollar tip?”
“Feel free to add some extra zeros to the end of that. It’s not binary code for ‘help me, there’s a criminal in my apartment’, if you’re worried about that.”
He hums in consideration. “I can’t say that came to mind.”
“Shit, looks like I went ahead and busted my own master plan.” Your response is notably dry. A headache is already in the works, courtesy of speaking to Chrollo for too long. He never fails to keep you on your toes. For all the sardonic remarks you make at his expense, anxiety has never stopped plaguing you. It’s a miracle that your heart is still functioning properly. You don’t even know why you ordered the absurd amount that you did, other than from pure spite, since your stomach is churning too much to want to eat. Maybe that’ll change when the food shows up. If not, your co-workers are going to be in for quite a treat tomorrow.
You return to your newfound favorite activity of ignoring Chrollo, busying yourself with anything that comes in sight. Watering your plants, putting mugs from the dishwasher away, menial stuff that keeps you busy. A new feat lies in your wake. Whoever designed this apartment didn’t do so with you in mind, your larger plates just barely out of reach. Not willing to concede to using a chair just yet, you keep up the gallant attempt, stretching as far as your body allows. Your fingertips graze just over the prized handle, only for you to fail again.
That’s when you feel an over looming presence behind you, a shadow encompassing your figure. Chrollo gets the plate you were reaching for with ease, his chest brushing over your back in the process. You feel your face flushing, your body going taut, standing still as a wooden plank. He sets it down beside you with a knowing smile. That bastard…! He’s doing this on purpose. Damn him.
“It looked like you could use some help.” He tells you. It takes every ounce of your self restraint not to lunge at him, instead taking a deep breath and nodding your head. Why is he so intent on getting a reaction from you? It’s exasperating, serving no practical purpose other than his own amusement. Inundated with your thoughts, you don’t realize how sour a look you’re sporting. This is what he wants, you remind yourself. To get you riled up. You refuse to play into his hands, and manage to get a grip.
Time passes by at a lethargic pace. After around forty minutes, your front door rings, and you pick up the order. Sitting at your counter, you help yourself to the meal, grateful that Chrollo has seen fit to leave you alone. There can never be anything good in this world, as he eventually joins you. You try not facing him as an act of defiance. The plan that seemed ingenious in theory has a rockier execution. Sitting in silence feels worse somehow, like a ticking time bomb. Shifting in your seat, you decide to strike up a half baked conversation.
“So, uh, about the whole being hunted down thing,” your voice wavers and you hate yourself for it, “Do you have an idea of when it’s going to be over? I’m starting to run out of excuses for why my friends can’t come over.”
This is true. There have been no more lively gatherings at your apartment since Chrollo’s unwelcome appearance, and you’ve been pestered about it. In between the lines is the prospect of your friends finding this reclusive behavior suspicious. In your optimism, you hope he takes it as a hint to get out of here faster.
Chrollo takes on a pensive appearance, his chin resting on his hand. “I’d been meaning to talk to you about that, so I’m glad you brought it up.”
How nice it is to be on the same page. This could be the light at the end of the tunnel, the last page in this awful chapter of your life. Ten days seems like a reasonable amount of time to lay low. Maybe he’s already packing his bags, planning to leave you far behind, so you can forget any of this ever happened. Maybe you’ll treat yourself to a vacation. From the gut wrenching anxiety Chrollo has inflicted on you, you feel deserving of one.
“They’ve stopped searching for me a while ago.”
Wait, what?
You look at him, silverware dropping from your lax hand. He’s never been into joking around. Does that mean he’s being serious with you? That all this time, you’ve been holding out for something that already happened? Fists balling by your side, you don’t bother hiding a sharp glare directed towards him. There’s no playfully wry response, no comeback, only disbelief and abhorrence. The bountiful meal in front of you is forgotten.
There’s no point in asking, but you still do, voice low. “... How long?”
“According to my sources, about a week.” comes Chrollo’s response, hammering the final nail in the coffin of your patience. His motivations have never been any less clear. You know you shouldn’t have taken the word of someone like him seriously -- you’re so painfully aware of this that it hurts -- but now leaves a final question. Why? What does he get out of this? You feel sick to your stomach, knowing that it’s going to bad no matter what. Your breathing has picked up, eyes dilating and body threatening to crumble under the tension. Everything feels out of place.
He responds as if he was reading your thoughts. “You’re an interesting person, [First]. You never cried, pleaded, or anything of the like. Instead you accepted the situation for what it was, all while staying true to your values. I find that admirable. I’d like to learn more from you.”
“Stop talking to me like I’m a -- a fucking -- science experiment, instead of a human being. How does any of that shit even matter?” You feel the blood draining from your face, every word coming out more forced than the last. Getting riled up here is the last thing you should be doing, but you can’t control yourself. All your negative emotions from your time with him are regurgitating into a final mess.
“I don’t know, truth be told.” Chrollo checks the watch on his wrist, and you gulp at the smile that forms on his lips. It feels like a sentencing, a foreboding omen. There’s bile rising in your throat, and you scramble away from your chair. You need to get out of here. You need to run, to scream for help, to alert your family, this is not going to end well, what is he planning--
There’s a hurried knock at your door.
“However, what I do know is that I have no intention of leaving this place without you by my side.”

It was a long morning. Much of it had been spent with Tony and as any other meeting with the man, it swung between amiability and antagonism. It was easy to guess why he was agitated as he was determined to thrust the crux of his displeasure upon you. Tony was never one to just roll over and he held a grudge well, but he wasn’t heartless and Thor was one of his best.
It was only unfortunate that the Asgardian had deemed himself a package deal. If his home was to be Earth, it wouldn’t be his brother’s too. Loki was different now, he sought redemption, to right his wrongs. It was a hard sell but the god was relentless and as usual, he prevailed.
“I want you to make this hell,” Tony’s words echoed in your head as you flipped through the workplace standards binder. “You are going to go through this with a fine tooth comb until that jackass can’t take anymore.”
These things were never easy. Going over protocol, safety regulations, workplace behaviour and etiquette. Usually you did your best to condense it all to make it more palatable; as much for you as the new hires. Now Tony wanted you to torture this man via dry ordinances as he wasn’t allowed to do so physically. The boss wouldn’t sign off until he was sure Loki suffered, though you were just as certain Tony had no plans to sign off on anything.
You checked the clock, it was almost noon already. You’d set up the conference room for your first session. The binders and files stacked neatly on one end as you sat in the middle.
You rose and looked through the transparent wall. Pepper’s heels raced by as she hurried to Tony’s office with her phone at her ear. The usual chaos of the tower.
You stepped out into the hall and made your way to the kitchen and popped a capsule in the machine before you found a mug. You added water to the machine and listened to the whir as it spat orange pekoe from its nozzle. You hated the little pods of leaves but you didn’t have time to wait on the kettle. You added a touch of milk and checked your watch before you stole one of the scones left in the box Pepper had strolled in with that morning.
You cradled the crummy scone in a paper towel and as you neared the conference room, you found a broad pair of shoulders awaiting you. You had still not grown used to Thor’s lack of hair. Loki’s dark head appeared just on the other side of him and your dread sank into your stomach.
“Hey,” You approached. “Just in time.”
“My lady!” Thor boomed as he turned to greet you. “How are you?”
“Well, and you?” You couldn’t help but smile. “How is the city treating you so far?”
“We have seen many things,” He announced. “Many delicious foods.”
Loki was silent, his eyes dull as he resisted rolling them at his brother.
“And are you doing more exploring today?” You wondered.
“Eh, I gotta see Tony but I figured I’d see Loki in for his first day,” He lowered his voice. “I told him to behave.”
“I can hear you,” Loki grumbled.
“Yes, well you already know I told you to behave,” Thor said. “So… behave.”
“Yes, mother,” Loki replied snidely.
Thor huffed and shook his head.
“I fear I’ve set him into a mood already,” Thor said. “I apologize.”
Loki blinked in exasperation but said nothing.
“Well, I guess we should begin and you should see Tony sooner than later,” You offered. “He called for the jet so he might not be here much longer.”
“Thank you,” Thor clapped your shoulder. “I promise, he has changed.”
You nodded and gave a weak smile. Thor left you and you turned to Loki. He stared at you a moment then his eyes drifted to the transparent door.
“Allow me,” He pushed the door inward and stepped inside to let you past.
You looked down at your full hands and thanked him as you entered. You set your mug and scone down but didn’t touch them. You had hoped to enjoy them before his arrival but for once, Thor was timely. Or perhaps that was Loki’s doing. He seemed the more stringent of the two.
“Loki,” You waved to the chair across from you. “Nice to meet you.”
“Again,” He neared slowly and grabbed the back of the chair. “Did you forget?”
“A brief meeting, yes,” You said. “But I’ve been told you weren’t yourself.”
He sat carefully and leaned an elbow on the arm of the chair.
“I remember it though,” He assured you.
“I tend to remember other events that day a little more clearly,” You countered.
“Mmm,” His brow twitched. “Yes, you Midgardians do cling to the more extreme details of my last visit.”
You wanted to scoff. Your last meeting had very nearly killed you. As creatures flew upon strange machines outside the windows of Stark Tower and buildings were decimated, you had caught a piece of shrapnel as one of the invaders crashed through the windows. You still wore the scar across your side; still remembered the god behind Tony’s bar, lecturing you upon your inferiority.
“This is a new start,” You slid a binder over to him. “Though not an exciting one.”
His fingers tapped on the blue cover as you opened your own and took a sip of your tea.
“What is this?” He opened his slowly.
“The rules,” You answered. “Combat regulations, mission protocol, office standards… the fun stuff.”
“And did my brother have to sit through this tripe?” He asked.
“Your brother didn’t try to invade New York,” You said sharply. “And Tony likes him.”
“Ah, Stark,” He smirked. “Of course.”
“Did you want a tea? Anything to drink?” You asked.
His eyes flicked up and he considered you. “Very kind, but I’d rather we just begin.”
“Right,” You looked down and took a breath. “Probably best.”
🐍
The clock at the end of the room read past six. You yawned and rubbed your eyes. All the little quizzes and evaluations Tony had tacked on were taking a lot longer than you expected. Loki looked just as uninterested though he read along all the same and had yet to falter.
You sniffed and leaned back in your chair.
“Ready to call it a day?” You asked.
“Up to you,” He said coolly. “To be honest, it has been slightly preferable to my brother’s grating presence. Slightly.”
“He’s not that bad,” You chuckled.
“He’s not your brother,” Loki countered. “Have you ever had the pleasure of eating with him? It’s disgusting.”
You held back another laugh and shook your head. Your eyes caught a figure on the other side of the clear wall. Steve squinted through and pointed at Loki with a tilt of his head. You blinked and shrugged. Loki noticed and glanced over his shoulder.
“Ah,” He slowly turned back. “The golden avenger has returned.”
“Well…” You tapped your fingers on the table. “I am, uh, late.”
“Late?” He raised his brows.
Steve went to the door and opened it carefully.
“Sorry to interrupt,” He poked his head in. But I’ve been, uh…” He looked at Loki warily. “Texting you.”
“We were just finishing up,” You assured him.
“Hello, Captain,” Loki pivoted his chair.
“Steve,” The other man corrected. “Thanks.”
“Ah,” Loki’s mouth twitched and he looked between the two of you. He stood up and turned back to you. “I didn’t realise. I shall see myself out.”
“We’ll pick this up tomorrow. Same time,” You said.
“I look forward to it,” He said dryly.
Loki took the black jacket he’d slung over the back of his chair halfway through your session and nodded at Steve as he slipped past him. He strode along the wall and offered a two finger wave before he disappeared. Steve watched him with hands on his hips.
“What--”
“You haven’t talked to Tony?”
“I didn’t think he was serious,” Steve turned to you. “He didn’t--”
“Oh, you guys need to calm down,” You rolled your eyes. “He was perfectly… tame.”
You pulled out your phone and saw several notifications from Steve, along with a few emails. One was marked with a red exclamation which deemed it urgent and you opened it up. You glossed through it quickly.
“Steve,” You looked up. “You didn’t?--”
“It was Bucky too,” He said evasively. “We were just doing our job.”
“You collapsed a bridge,” You frowned. “Why is it always you?”
“No casualties,” He pleaded.
“Only me,” You scowled. “I’ll be buried in the paperwork.”
He lowered his chin guiltily. He neared shyly as you packed up your bag.
“How can I ever make it up to you?” He touched your arm.
You narrowed your eyes at him as you collected your mug and half-eaten scone.
“Cheesecake?” He smiled.
“You can’t buy me with dessert,” You brushed past him and he followed you out into the hall.
“Really?” He said. “I know you like a little whip cream on top.” You entered the kitchen and rinsed out the cup and placed it in the rack. “But… we could try it on something else.”
You faced him and fought not to smirk. You shook your head.
“So the cheesecake is… foreplay?”
“Part of it,” He got closer and his hand settled on your hip.
“Hmm,” You hummed as his lips hovered over yours. “Strawberry cheesecake?”
“My favourite,” He purred and kissed you.
🐍
The next day, you found Loki waiting in the conference room. You had spent your morning trying to clean up after the super soldiers. You pushed through the clear door and rounded the table as you greeted Loki.
“You’re early,” You said as you took your seat. The binders were as they had been the day before.
“All the better to get this over with,” He said as you sat and rolled your chair closer to the table.
“You know, I am starting to think it would be a lot easier if you and Tony just had it out,” You opened the binder. “Well, easier for me.”
Loki snickered and flipped through his own binder.
“You and the golden boy,” He ventured as you found the right page. “Adorable.”
You glanced up at him and furrowed your brow. You cleared your throat and looked back to the pages.
“So, we were going over required training.” You said.
“Is that allowed in your little Midgardian handbook?” He prodded.
“We will cover that,” You assured him. “Not that I think you need to worry about it.”
“Hmm, no,” He mused. “I wouldn’t.”
You sat back and sighed.
“It might be easier if you at least tried to make friends here,” You said.
“Friends?” He lifted a brow. “Who should I start with? Stark? Oh, I’m sure he’d be open to a little reconciliation. Or maybe Rogers? Hmm? He really seems the forgiving type. Or that little redhead thing? She seems peaceable.”
“You could begin with me,” You offered. “I’m not here to provoke you.”
He blinked and shifted in his chair.
“Have I been unkind?” He wondered.
“Not exactly,” You answered. “But not everything needs to be a… snipe.”
He considered you and his hand spread over the binder.
“It wasn’t meant to be,” He said evenly. “I bear you no hostility, though perhaps I do owe you an apology.”
“Apology?” You echoed.
“Regardless of the circumstance, I said what I said that day, it was cruel and there is no excuse,” He said. “You were wounded and I would have watched you die. It might have been a different version of me, but it was me. I apologise.”
“You don’t have to--” You touched your side without thinking. “Thank you.”
“And I will do my best to withhold my contempt. You do not deserve it.”
You were a bit shocked by his candour. You pressed your lips together and straightened the binder in front of you.
“That’s a good start,” You said. “So, now that’s cleared up…”
“What page was it?” He nodded and looked to his binder. He leaned it against the edge of the table as his eyes roved over the tight font.

The rest of the week went much the same. However, Tony’s plan to chip away at Loki seemed not to be working as your patience wore away and the Asgardian remained ever stoic. He was almost amused as he humoured your Midgardian codes.
Your weekend was well earned but didn’t allow for much rest. Steve was due to leave again that week so you had to squeeze what time you could out of him. It could be a couple days, or a week, or two. He could never really say and you never expected him to. You knew how it was when you got into the relationship.
All the while, you tried to catch up on the work delayed by Tony’s pointless ploy to drive Loki out. You hated that he had chosen you for this though you doubted he’d trust any other to do so.
On Monday, Loki was late. You were surprised. He had always been annoyingly early. You texted Steve and he replied with a heart emoji. The door whisked open and had your phone face down on the table. Loki sat heavily across from you, a scrape across his forehead and a split in his lip. His cheek was slightly swollen beneath his eye but he seemed barely fazed by his injuries.
“Oh my god,” You said. “What happened to you?”
“Training,” He smiled and hissed as the gesture pulled at the cut. “My brother… got a bit carried away.”
“And how does he look?”
“To the detriment of my pride, better than I do,” He said. “I did try to restrain myself, though my tongue does not obey me as well as my body.”
“Let me get you some ice,” You stood.
“Really, I’m fine.” He insisted.
“You’re bleeding.” You said as blood began to trickle from the split in his lip.
“I thought I’d stemmed it,” He reached up. “Forgive my lateness.”
“That’s the last thing I’m worried about,” You scoffed. “One second.”
You went to the kitchen and grabbed an ice pack from the freezer and the first aid kit from beneath the counter. You returned to Loki and set your wares down. You flipped open the metal box and grabbed an alcohol wipe.
“Did you clean the cuts at least?” You asked.
“I can handle it,” He assured you.
“Sorry, sorry,” You flicked the packet. “I sound just like my mother right now.”
“I do appreciate it though.”
He took the little paper packet and tore it open. He blindly wiped the cut along his hairline and that on his lip. You offered him some gauze and he thanked you before he pressed it to his lip. When the blood slowed, he grabbed the ice pack and held it to his cheek.
He stood and you quickly backed away as he tossed his mess in the bin. You packed up the kit as he sat again.
“Thank you,” He said again and you pushed aside the metal box.
“You know, it’s not too uncommon to have a bloody lip here,” You rounded the table and sat across from him. “You good though?”
“Very,” He said with a slight smirk. “I have been anticipating this section most fervently.” He opened the file before him. “Office etiquette. I suppose I am sorely lacking in that.”
You almost laughed at his quip. He wasn’t so cold as that first day and you no longer saw the villainous invader before you. You saw someone wildly out of place. For a moment, you felt bad for him. The glimmer in his eyes quickly smothered it and you wondered for a moment. This was Loki; he could more than handle himself.
🐍
Steve showed up only a couple hours later and waved at you through the glass. He had his bag. He was leaving. You tried not to stutter as you continued reading through the clauses before you and Loki seemed barely bothered by your momentary lapse. You swept a paper out of another folder.
“So, another pop quiz,” You said sourly. “While you fill that out, I’ll just excuse myself for a moment.”
“Very well,” He accepted and played with the pen.
“Ten minutes.” You promised as you stood and slid the paper to him.
He nodded and looked dully at the sheet. You hurried around the table and out into the hall. Steve retreated and you followed so you could not be seen through the transparent wall.
“Going?” You asked glumly.
“I shouldn’t be long. It’s an easy in and out.” He rubbed your arm.
“Oh? And who’s going with you?” You asked.
“Um, Sam,” He said.
“Ha, sure, easy,” You kidded.
“And what about him?” Steve nodded to the conference room. “How long’s this gonna take?”
“Well, with all Tony’s bookmarks, probably the rest of my life,” You grumbled.
“Gee,” He frowned. “I don’t envy you.”
“Rub it in,” You huffed. “I’ll miss you.”
“You too,” He leaned in to kiss you.
Your lips met and you grabbed onto his shoulder. You wanted to kiss him forever just to make him stay. But he had to go and you had to get back to work.
“While interoffice relationships are permitted so long as the proper legal protocol is followed, open displays of affection are prohibited as they are unprofessional and unseemly in the workplace and may lead to discomfort of others.” Loki’s voice cut through the air.
You pulled away from Steve and looked to him aghast. You heard Steve sigh and he hitched his duffle up on his arm. Loki held up the paper and grinned.
“Sorry to interrupt but I finished and… well, I think I’ve learned a lot,” He taunted.
“Apparently,” You turned back to Steve as he glared at Loki. “Sorry, I gotta go but… let me know when you can that you’re safe.”
“Of course,” He tore his eyes from Loki. “I love you.”
“You too,” You patted his chest. “See ya.”
“Yeah,” He shook his head and shot Loki one last sneer. “Bye.”
You watched Steve go and turned back to Loki. You hid your irritation and neared to take his paper.
“Thanks,” You said as you swept back into the conference room.
You sat and checked his work. Perfect, as ever. You were certain he didn’t care about any of this but he never wavered. You added it to the pile and looked up at him. He leaned back in his chair coolly.
“Did I pass, teacher?” He teased.
“Why did you do that?” You asked.
“Just practicing my learning,” He smirked.
You shook your head at him and flipped the page.
“Moving on,” You said.
“Must be difficult. Being apart so much.”
“We don’t have to talk about it,” You said. “It’s personal.”
“Apologies,” He said. “I was only attempting small talk.”
“It’s okay,” You said. “I just… to be quite honest, I’m cursing Tony as much as you probably are.”
🐍
Another week of tedium and you were ready to tap out. And you were further irritated that Loki showed no sign of distress. He was just as cool as ever as you went through the ridiculous mandates. Just as irksome as you glanced at your phone between sections. His curious, almost taunting eyes, lit up along with your screen.
But you kept on and on Friday, you let him leave a full twenty minutes early. You stayed another hour as you caught up on the rest of your workload. You barely made a dent but you just wanted to go home and hide in bed. Your empty bed. You hoped Steve would return soon.
You yawned as you drove to your building. Your fatigue mounted as you rode the elevator to your floor and neared the door of your condo. It was unlocked. You hesitated and pushed inside. You blinked as you looked around. The lamp in the living room was on but no other light shone and nothing seemed out of place.
You stepped further inside as you dug your hand into your purse and clutched the can hidden in its depths. Another light came from your bedroom door and you carefully crept down the hall in your heels to peek inside. You pulled out the can and screamed as a shadow appeared in the doorway.
You didn’t have a chance to spray the mace as it was batted out of your hand and the surprised chuckle eased your fears. Steve grabbed your arms as he steadied you. He was freshly showered and smelled of his sandalwood soap. He wore only the pair of old grey sweats with the hole in the knee. You shook your head at yourself and smiled.
“When did you get back?” You asked.
“About an hour ago. Didn’t think I’d beat you home but I had to try,” His hands slipped from your arms and he embraced you. “You miss me?”
“Did you miss me?” You countered.
“Of course,” He bent and kissed your lips, rocking you slightly. He pulled away and lifted a brow. “You look tired. Too tired?”
You giggled and hit his chest. He released you and slid your purse from your arm.
“Don’t worry, I can do all the work,” He offered. “You just get… comfortable.”
He backed away and set your bag on his dresser. You glanced at the chair where you usually put it and shrugged. You stepped out of your shoes and tucked them down beside the dresser. You stood and removed your blazer. Steve moved slowly to the bed and dropped down on his stomach as he watched you, his head cradled in his hand.
You felt like blushing. He hadn’t been like this in a while. The last few times he returned, he’d been tired; quiet. You gave him his space and he came to you after a while. You knew he needed the chance to decompress but sometimes it felt like he thought your time without him was easier. That your job was easier.
You unbuttoned your blouse and tossed it over the chair, shimmied out of your trousers and let them wrinkle on the seat. Your back ached from sitting all day in the chair and your muscles were tense from weeks sitting across from Loki. He was easier to deal with but that little glimmer of paranoia remained.
You unhooked your bra and swung it around before you let it fly across the room. You laughed as Steve hummed and you teasing pushed your fingers under the elastic of your panties. You paused and gave him a cheeky look. He groaned and perked up.
“You need help?” He asked.
“Well, not with these,” You shoved the panties down your thighs and they fell to your feet. “But I wouldn’t mind a nice massage. My back is killing me.”
“Hmm,” He sat up. His pants did little to hide his impatience. “I could do a massage.”
He patted the bed as he shuffled back to the edge. You went to the bed and climbed up. You eased yourself down onto the mattress, your face nestled between the pillows as you sighed. His hand brushed your leg and ran up to squeeze your ass. He urged your legs apart and moved between them.
“You’re tense,” He said as he pushed his hands over your ass and up your back. His fingers traced the scar along your side and lingered there. It was always so sensitive and made you shiver.
“It’s been a long week,” You turned your head to speak.
“Oh yeah?” He wondered. “He… giving you a hard time?”
“Not really but… I don’t wanna think about work.”
“Then don’t,” He ran his thumbs along your shoulder blades and drew a groan from you.
You turned back to the pillows and stretched your arms up around your head. His hands kept moving, firm, attentive, magic. Your voice got louder and louder as he found the knots and the little aches perfectly. It was rare for him to be so thorough. Often he was thinking so much about what came next, he barely glossed across your flesh.
He gripped your hips and you felt his breath on your skin. He laid a trail of kisses along your back; lower, lower, lower. He dragged his lips over your ass and nibbled your thigh, then your other. He urged your pelvis up and you obliged. You bent your legs just a little to support yourself, your head buried in the pillows.
He got down on his elbows as he pushed his head between your legs and slid his tongue along your folds. He gently began to lap and your thighs began to tingle. The flick of his tongue grew more deliberate as he brought his hand up to tease your clit. He poked your entrance with his tongue and hummed.
Your fingers closed around the duvet and you lifted your head. You whined as you felt the pressure building. You breathed through your teeth and your entire body shook. You were surprised by your orgasm, how quickly it swelled and crashed. Your thighs quivered and you bit down on the corner of the pillow as you came.
He kept on and you whimpered. Your voice floated around you as your entire being buzzed. His purrs sent a shiver along your spine as his tongue kept on. Then you heard your name. A hollow tone. Confused, familiar.
The warmth of Steve’s mouth left your cunt and you turned. Frantic you stared at the man in the doorway of your bedroom. You looked between him and the identical figure kneeling on the end of the bed. What the fuck?
The Steve in the doorway stormed the other. They met at the end of the bed and you were almost crushed beneath them as you backed up against the headboard. Scared, you watched them tussle until they rolled onto the floor with a crash. The grunts were startlingly similar.
You crawled across the bed and looked down at the struggle. The panic brewed in your chest. You hopped off and grabbed the naked Steve’s shoulder.
“Get off! What’s going on?!” You pulled and found yourself flung back.
You tried to grab him again and found yourself drawn back by an invisible force around your neck. You were dragged back to the bed, almost choking as the blankets wrinkled beneath you as you tried to latch onto them. You stopped at the headboard and felt along your throat, a searing pain in your palm as the unearthly bound tightened.
You kicked out and the sounds of struggle seemed to fade. You heard Steve groan and watched the naked one stand. He went to the chair and dumped your clothes from it. He carried it to the end of the bed and lifted the other onto the seat. Eerie green lights wrapped around his wrists and ankles, a thicker one snaked around his throat and his lashes fluttered as he tried to blink away his daze.
“What--”
As the naked Steve turned to you, his blond hair darkened to black and his broad shoulders shrunk, a slightly slimmer and taller figure before you. You wriggled and tried to pull at the restraint at your throat once more. You hissed as your hands burned terribly and rescinded them.
“Why?” You kicked your legs and they were stilled by the same odd green glow. “Loki! Stop.”
“Stop? Why, dear…” He turned and slapped Steve’s cheek. Steve shook his head and his blue eyes seemed to focus. “...you were just starting to have fun.”
“Leave him alone,” You tried to get up but were drawn back even more. Your arms were forced out and your ankles tugged further apart. “Loki!”
“Oh, I love to hear my name on your lips,” He purred as he came closer.
He drew a slow circle in the air and your body turned so your head was at the foot of the bed. He knelt and turned your head as he pressed his lips to yours. He devoured you as he pushed his tongue into your mouth.
“Loki!” Steve barked and you heard the chair creak slightly before he cried out. “Lo-ki!” His voice was strained. “Don’t touch--”
Steve’s shouts fizzled out as Loki drew away. You were flipped sharply onto your stomach and you squealed as your head spun. Loki climbed up swiftly and straddled your ass. He ran his hands over your back and squeezed your shoulders.
He leaned over you and grabbed a handful of your hair. He lifted your head so your eyes met Steve’s.
“You want to hate me, Rogers, but you haven’t any reason,” He taunted. “So let me give you one.”
“What do you think Thor will do when he finds out? Tony will--”
“You can tell my brother but he’s forgiven me worse and Tony, well, he could have an unfortunate accident in that lab of his,” Loki slithered. “Or maybe this darling little toy might break before I’m done with her. Pity.”
“You--”
“Would.” Loki insisted as he dropped your head and sat back. He hit the back of your head roughly. “This isn’t love, Rogers. It’s not even a crush. This is just… fun.” His fingers crept down your back as he slid back. “Oh, wouldn’t it be a scandal; the golden avenger murders his own lover. Even if it was an accident, well, that serum of yours… dangerous stuff.”
“No one would believe--” Steve choked before he could finish.
“You think I couldn’t make them? What reason do I have to frame you? And it would be easy enough to stage it all.” Loki preened as he poked between your legs. He rubbed your folds as he spoke. “What they believe hardly matters if she’s gone, eh, Rogers?”
You croaked as the force squeezed your neck and you flailed as you gulped for breath.
“Stop! Stop!” Steve pleaded. The pressure relented and you coughed and gasped. “Loki, please… don’t hurt her.”
“Oh, I never intended to hurt her,” Loki shoved his fingers inside you and you whimpered. “In fact, quite the opposite. Weren’t you having fun, darling?” You closed your eyes and he pinched your thigh. “Darling?”
“Y-yes,” You murmured into the mattress. “Please--”
“Shhh, you don’t have to beg,” He keened. “But I do love to hear it.”
He pushed his legs between yours as he continued to finger you. You could hear Steve’s heavy, angry breaths. Your own were shallow and frantic. Loki spread his fingers and you felt another prod at your entrance. He held you open as he slipped in; two fingers still in you as his cock stretched your walls.
He impaled you and pulled his fingers out. He sighed as he wiggled his pelvis and lifted your ass. He got even deep as his hands grasped your hips. You sniffled as you fought the heat behind your eyes.
“I’m sorry,” Steve uttered. You heard the chair wobble but still again as he let out an agonized growl.
“No,” You gulped. “I’m sorry. I didn’t--”
Loki pulled back and slammed into you. You squeaked and he did it again.
“You can have your little reunion when I’m done,” He thrust so hard the bed jolted with each tilt of his hips. “Oh, look at her. She’s shaking again.”
He sped up, a little at a time, until he was hammering into you. You ached from his relentless rhythm and tugged against the bonds. He bent over you and hooked his arms under your shoulders and pulled you up. He bounced you against him, your thighs draped over his as he worked your body.
You bit your lips and turned your head. You couldn’t look at Steve.
“He can’t look away,” Loki whispered in your ear. “I made sure of it.”
You whined as he continued to use you. His hand slid down to your clit as his other arm wrapped around your chest. He pounded into you from below as he began to rub. You felt the same sudden rise. The same irresistible tickle. You gritted your teeth and moaned.
You let out a pathetic sob as you came. Your entire body convulsed and you pushed your head back against Loki’s shoulder. His breath glossed over your cheek and he bent to press his lips to your flesh. He nuzzled further down and bit into your neck. He snarled as he thrust into you hard and deep.
He shuddered as his hips spasmed and he rocked through his orgasm. He came inside you, a sickly flood of warmth. Your arms were kept suspended to either side of you as you struggled to get away from him. You hung your head and squeezed your eyes shut.
He pulled out and let you fall forward. You caught your breath and slowly moved your hand to your throat. You raised yourself shakily and looked to Steve. His eyes were glassy, his lips parted, his face pale.
“Steve,” You reached out to him.
As you made to climb off the bed, you flew back to the mattress, flat on your back. Loki strode around the bed as he snickered. He pushed his long hair away from his face.
“Now, now, you don’t think that’s it, darling.” He licked his lips as he came to the end of the bed and stood between you and Steve. “We have two weeks to make up for. Two. Grueling. Weeks.”

Kinktober #13: can we always be this close? - Mirio Togata
In which you and Mirio spend a very romantic birthday evening together.
Characters: Mirio Togata / f!Reader
Warnings: smut (18+ please!) Quirkless Mirio, aged up characters, fluffy smut, fluffy fluff, this is tooth-achingly syrupy, with the barest edge of heartfelt angst. Boxed-birthday cake sweet.
Notes: It’s my birthday today. This is extremely feelsy and self-indulgent. I offer no apology.
Title inspired by this song.
Kinktober Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Are you almost ready? Seriously gonna explode out here.”
You’re putting the last finishing touches on your hair as Mirio knocks on the bathroom door. Bless his heart, he’s been nice enough to give you full reign of the bathroom for the last hour and a half for the sake of your big reveal when you’re finally ready to go.
But you know Mirio well- big heart, small bladder.
“I’m coming!” You promise. “Thirty seconds and I’m outta here.” You take one last spritz of hairspray through your style, tousling the strands gently with your fingers. Then you unplug your styling tools, smooth on your favourite lipstick (the one that makes you look ‘the most kissable,’ according to Mirio) and pivot toward the door.
Your fingers hover over the handle for an instant. You take a deep breath.
When you pull the door open, Mirio’s standing directly on the other side of it. He looks polished as hell in a pair of well-fitting dark wash jeans and a turtleneck sweater that you bought him last winter. Your heart goes squish as you brace one hand in the frame of the door and watch his expression light at the sight of you.
“Aw, man,” he hums. His eyelashes flick downward as he takes you in. You’re dressed in the same fashion that he is- casual but polished, in a way that makes you feel the most comfortable and beautiful in your own skin.
“You sure it’s not my birthday?” He reaches for you, pulling you closer by the wrist. “’Cause lemme tell ya, that was worth waiting for.” He leans down and goes for a kiss, ducking sideways at the last moment to catch the corner of your mouth instead.
“Get in there,” you giggle, gently brushing past him and ushering him into the bathroom. “I’m hungry.”
Tonight’s dinner is something that Mirio insisted on. While the company you work for normally gives you a day off for your birthday, this year, yours happened to fall in the middle of the week. You decided to defer your day off until Friday, giving you a long weekend to enjoy instead. It means you still had to work on the actual day, but… you don’t mind. Not when Mirio’s been treating you like a princess from the moment you woke up.
He even stopped by your office earlier to drop off your favourite takeout for lunch. All your coworkers know him- he visits you at work a lot- and they’re completely smitten. You can’t help but adore how likeable he is, even if it tries your envious nerve every once in a while.
Your friends joke that he’s more like a golden retriever than a partner. But you know it goes both ways. You would do anything in the world for him.
You hold hands on the train like a new couple all over again, leaning against the doors and kissing between stops. You don’t care who sees. Mirio’s thrilled to be getting away with so much PDA. And when your stop finally comes up, you’re still grinning as you tug him onto the platform.
He takes you to your favourite restaurant, a ramen place downtown. You get potato dashi ramen, which comes with chewy egg noodles and a scoop of sour cream. It’s like a baked potato in a bowl of noodles. You know it’s not exactly the romantic evening that most couples would have planned, but there’s nothing that brings you more joy than cozying up in a little table by the window and slurping away on hot broth and noodles with Mirio smiling across at you.
As you’re finishing up, a slice of white chocolate cheesecake with a sparkler (and two forks) comes to your table. Mirio swears he had nothing to do with it, but he adores embarrassing you on your birthday. And the sparkle behind his navy gaze is a dead giveaway.
It’s not until after you’ve both scraped the plate clean and you’re holding hands across the table that you decide to forgive him.
He’s brushing his thumb over your ring finger, toying back and forth with the sparkly diamond that sits there.
“Y’know,” he muses, “I was actually planning on saving that for tonight.”
You’re resting your chin in your other hand, but that doesn’t stop you from grinning. “Really?”
He nods, licking his lips to hide an indulgent smile. “I carried that thing around in my pocket for weeks. But then, when you said there was gonna be an eclipse…” He trails off and shrugs, smiling brighter. “It’s like it all fell into place.”
A couple of weeks ago, the moon fell into the Earth’s shadow for the first time in years. It was a beautiful clear night and just warm enough that the two of you could climb to the roof of your apartment building and huddle together under a couple of blankets.
It was there, under the dim glow of the eclipsed moon, that he’d dropped to one knee and promised you forever. To you, it was a complete surprise.
You’re still moony about it now. If you close your eyes, you can picture every single detail. But when you open them again, the look on Mirio’s face is not so different as he admires you across the table.
“It was perfect,” you told him. “That night was perfect.”
He pulls your hand to his lips, kissing your ring. “C’mon,” he mumbles. “Let’s get outta here.”
He takes you home and skirts you in the front door. Your apartment is still dark when he strokes your cheeks and kisses you, lingering and sweet in the hallway.
“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” he whispers to you, soft and vulnerable in the low light.
“I love you,” you murmur, holding him tight. He gets like this sometimes. He’s lost so much, it’s easy to imagine you slipping through his fingers, too. You know he’s trying hard not to let it show tonight but you’re not about to let that stop you. You reach for him, cupping his cheek and pulling his shadowy gaze to yours.
“Hey,” you whisper. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” he huffs, stealing another kiss as he scoops you into his arms. He whisks you into the bedroom, laying you across the sheets. He flicks on the lamp by your bedside and it casts a warm blanket of light across your body.
His weight descends on top of you and you catch yourself thinking if this is it, if nothing comes after this life with him, I’ll be okay.
He strips you down, piece by piece, kissing every inch of the skin he’s exposing. Every moment you spend together feels precious- you’ve both been reminded, time and time again, how quickly it can all be stolen from you. Not this, you pray when the night is at its darkest, take anything, but let me have him.
“Let me love you,” he whispers to you, sliding down your bare body, “with everything I have tonight.”
He loops his arms under your thighs, nuzzling the soft skin where your leg joins your body. His eyes stray to your face as he licks up your slit. He watches you sigh, watches you shiver, watches you fall.
But he’s always there to catch you.
He licks until you’re begging him to stop and comes back to you bare. His body is strong and sculpted but scarred, serving as a solemn reminder of the life he was forced to give up. Just another dream that had been stolen from him.
But you, the life that you’re capable of building together- that’s become his new dream. He’s promised to love you completely. He wants to raise your children. He wants to build you a home. Maybe he’ll never save a million souls, but if he can bring you happiness, if he can be good for you, that’ll be enough.
When you’re finally ready for him, he keeps his body as close to yours as possible while he pushes inside you. One of his hands grips your thigh, but the other is intertwined with yours, smoothing across the bedsheets as his thumb strokes your knuckles.
He’s steady and strong, but tender as a lamb, whispering his love for you as he fucks you slow and rhythmic. You clutch at his back and grab his ass, urging his rhythm forward. But he keeps it easy until he can’t take it anymore.
And when he breaks, he breaks hard.
He thrusts into you with a brutal rhythm, letting all the words die between you. The harsh breath that you share is punctuated by the slap of his thighs against yours. He slips a hand between your bodies, driving you to the edge one more time- whimpering and sighing and quivering through your climax- before he can’t hold out and slips into ecstasy alongside you.
When he loses himself against you, you hold him tight and savour every moment. The tremor of his thighs against yours. The way his voice jumps from his chest to his throat as his expression scrunches into one of sheer ecstasy. The spill of sloppy warmth inside you-sinfully satisfying. But more precious than anything is the way that he collapses on top of you and peppers slow, sweaty kisses across your skin before he’s ready to pull out.
When he finally rolls off of you, you’re quick to shift onto your side, reaching for him. You wind your arms around one another, and he draws you in close, letting you rest your chin on top of his head as your legs tangle.
“Happy Birthday,” he mumbles into your neck, for only the dozenth time that day. You close your eyes and try to suppress your laugh, but you know he can feel it vibrating in your chest.
“What a time to remind me,” you tease. “I’m getting old.”
“Oh!” He bolts upright, suddenly alert. “Your present, baby.”
“No way. Give it to me tomorrow,” you hum. “I’m not letting you out of bed.”
“But…” He turns back to you, pouting. “I can’t give it to you a day late. That’s like… like I missed it.”
“How about…” you trail off, “I open it first thing in the morning. You’ll know and I’ll know. Nobody else will. Please? I’m so comfy.”
Satisfied, he settles down again. This time it’s your head he tucks under his chin, kissing the top of your head.
Later that night, moments from sleep, you feel him stir in your arms. He kisses your head again, wraps his fingers gently around your palm. You don’t move.
“Happy birthday, baby,” he whispers to you. “I’m the luckiest man in the world, y’know that?”
You drop off a few minutes later in total peace. It’s not something you ever thought you would have, but… with him, it comes as easy as the morning.

Something; Love
@hetaliamondaychallenge‘s “If you meant it, kiss me” prompt challenge
Rating: T
Ship: USUK
Note/s: My internet connection suddenly cut off just as I finished this up last night ;-; but at least it’s working now. I know it’s a bit late and this is a bit rushed but I hope you guys enjoy this.
Acting is a distinguished art that involved elements crucial to the point that if done right, everyone involved will be completely enthralled and would forget for even a moment they were a mere spectator detached from the wonderfully different world onstage. Arthur Kirkland, a junior, loved it. The stage, the power, the act. He relished being both on the stage conquering the attention and the hearts of the spectators and out of their view making very sure that the play would go exactly as he instructed them all like the 'theatre tyrant' as he is. (Christened to him ever since he stepped foot inside their highschool's exclusive theatre troupe-- err, drama club.)
However! Oh God, in all things he thrived in his world, how Arthur hated improv. Well... fine, he didn't outright hate it. Improv is an art and he would not drag that down. But, oftentimes, it would drag the whole detailed and scripted act. Worse, it could undermine the whole premise of the plotline! And Arthur would outright shove the person who even dares to deviate from the scene into hell and torture them with his endless taunts to force them to utter the name of that Scottish play every single time they enter his theatre. In actuality, it was the school's theatre, then again, Arthur knows that he'll be stage director his senior year next year so he may as well call it his now anyway.
Hmm, wait... Where was he going with that train of thought exactly--
"Why?!" Alfred shouted as he deflected Arthur's lunge with his sword, every word that came out was further intensified by the clash and clang of their improvised broom-swords."Why do all this when you had it all?!"
-- Ah, yes, this. Arthur spun left when his 'enemy' thrust his broom inches from Arthur's stomach. This was one of their club's monthly destress-from-the-current-play-we-are-doing-this-spring activities. Their current stage director, Elizabeta, was a god-sent in Arthur's eyes to let everyone in the club, techies included, engage in impromptu dramas and stories; competition was always there, of course, and the club was divided into two groups.
"Ha! I had it all?" Agh, Damn it all! He pivots and strikes Alfred's upper thigh just to spite the man who caused this mess. "It-it seems you are mistaken, I have nothing. Nothing!"
Usually, Arthur Kirkland and Alfred F, Jones, would be separated into their respective groups named after the feuding families of Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers (They had personalized red and blue shirts and all). Usually. Also usually, Elizabeta happened liked to mix things up and then proceeded to regroup everyone.
That was how Arthur ended up 'dueling to the death’ against their club's upstart but excellent freshman actor during their impromptu plays. Alfred Jones was the kind of person who devoted himself to the character he portrayed. The kind of person that was so very kind, sometimes naive, and wouldn't hurt a soul to gain notoriety on the stage (which was done quite often in these kinds of environments). Arthur liked that. It didn't hurt him to like like Alfred as well as he liked Alfred's compelling air onstage.
But his feelings for the other won't alleviate the fact that he was angry because someone had the nerve to switch Arthur's 'best-friend-betrays-and-kills-the-crown-prince-because-of-politics' impromptu plot to something that of a dramatic romance just because he forgot his line and muttered something completely different in context in the middle of the fight! And Arthur was left to quickly bite a response and then his character's motives suddenly changed. ("I love my father's kingdom but you have my heart! You know this." "Lies! If you loved me as much, you would've stopped your father from attacking my family!) Someone just had the nerve to throw him off his balance and now--
The traitor used all his strength as he flung his enemy's sword, throwing it far away from the other's hands. It thunked near their audience, almost hitting a student, but both of the actors never took their eyes away from each other. Arthur growled and pushed Alfred down the dusty floor on his ass. The fallen crown prince lay there with his broom-sword meters away and the tip of his former friend's sword centimetres on the left of his chest, where his heart should be. Both of them were panting. sweating out the tension that suddenly overcame the room.
Arthur thinks it was both a wonderful and terrible scene. Wonderful in a sense he's bested the other and continued to his planned narrative for their act. And terrible in a way that if this were the reality they both lived in, the best of friends torn by society's expectation, it would hurt not only the prince but also his heart.
With steely eyes, Arthur uttered the last line of their act, "I have nothing left. Nothing to lose." He thrust his broom and Alfred shouted as if someone had really pained his heart physically and emotionally.
Arthur’s heart clenched.
But in true Alfred F. Jones fashion, he smiled a smile Arthur saw when it was only them alone under the mostly atmosphere of the library with blue eyes untainted by their acting, never lying, and completely threw Arthur's precise and thought-out chess plan in the trash. He gripped Arthur's broom, muscles quivering for effect, and whispered, "You had me... and my... love...!" Alfred went lax.
Applause.
Once again, Alfred won over the narrative and his heart.
------------------------------
Arthur listened to the last goodbyes and see-you-laters of the exiting students. His group won this month's supply of cheesecake reserved in the cafeteria thanks to their performance. It was mostly him and Alfred but he recognizes the efforts of his groupmates into contributing to their act. Personally, Arthur thinks his performance was sub-par today; he may be overly-critical of himself but he knew that when Alfred forgot his line and did improv ruined his tempo.
Alfred. His acting today almost wasn't acting at all. Those eyes and that watery smile that had held his emotions for all the world to see. Was it... love?
No. Arthur shook his head. It couldn't be. Alfred was an actor just like Arthur was going to be a stage director. Excellent and good at what they're supposed to do in their grand world onstage. Flawless.
It was upsetting, somehow. Arthur wouldn't lie that he wished it was real. Not the stab and kill my love part but the one that what Arthur was spared from the pain of unrequited love. It would be lovely, "--If he actually meant it, that he loved me."
"And if I did?"
Arthur spun around faster than his cues onstage. There was Alfred, leaning on the doorway with a no-nonsense look on his face. The intense red of the setting Sun illuminating and heightening every line he’d said and say. "What...?"
"And if I did? If love you, what would you do?" Tight, Arthur’s lungs felt like someone was choking him in the inside.
"Alfred, the activity is over, there's no need for you to continue the act." He deflected, frowning. A mix of dread something else he couldn’t describe fluttered in his chest. Suddenly, he knew this feeling; it was hard to breathe.
"What if I stopped 'acting' when I improvised my line and confessed with my real feelings. What if I told you that I meant what I said. That I love you." Alfred strode to him, purposeful and his face looking a little flushed. "What would you do, Arthur?"
Alfred doesn't lie, he acts. But not right now. Alfred was telling him, Arthur Kirkland, that he loves him. Bleeding hell, yes. He knew the other man wasn’t planning on letting him go any sooner if Arthur didn’t give him a reply in this very moment
"Well, if it were true that you love me," he licked his lips, "If you meant it, kiss me. And maybe, I'll say I love you too."
Alfred pouted but then the corner of his lips curved to a smile. "'Maybe'? Aren't you being too mean on me today? You just stabbed your best friend with a broom."
Arthur smiled back and chuckled, happiness made fluttered in his heart and warmed his cheeks. "How about a kiss for the prince for his troubles?"
"Mn, yeah, that's acceptable. A kiss for your prince from my boyfriend, right?" He leaned down a bit and was wiggling his eyebrows so much, Arthur was tempted to smack him instead. Tempted indeed.
However, a kiss on Alfred's lips was a million times more tempting. Arthur leaned a bit up into those lips and did just that.
They had something. Love.

Chapter 6; I Melt.
When we came in, a small bell rang above the door. The place looked like an old 80’s diner, which was kind of weird, I’d never seen a Baskin Robbins like this one. The walls and seats were decorated with the trademark pink and blue. The ice cream at the counter front displayed through a wall of frosty cold glass, some pop music playing through the speakers above. I walked up to the front and gazed down at all the ice cream flavors, trying to look for my favorite.
“Hey guys.” Someone piped up from behind the counter, I looked up, seeing that same beady eyed blonde kid at the register.
“Hey Falon.” Randy replied, stepping up next to me, his ugly muddy hazel eyes looking down at the ice cream, “Strawberry cheesecake.” He ordered, the blonde quickly scooping up a lump of it and slapping it into a waffle cone, handing it over the counter to the redhead.
“Ayo gimme some rocky road you know how it is.” Troy spoke as he shoved his head under my arm, the other two laughing at him.
The guy handed us the ice cream cones we got, I went to pay, Keith quickly pushing my hand back as he pulled his wallet out and gave the guy a few bills.
As we walked out, I looked over to him, “Hey, uh, you didn’t have to pay for us.” I told him.
“I know, I just wanted to. You guys are new, thought it'd be nice.” He answered, straight up biting into the cone.
“Thanks, we really appreciate it man.” Liu told him with a small head nod as we all took a seat at the outside tables.
“No problem dude.” Keith told him as he sat himself down next to me.
We talked for the majority of the time we were there, Liu mostly stayed on his phone, not paying any mind to us. The other three didn’t seem to mind him at all, they were more interested in talking to me. Which I was completely fine with, I didn’t mind socializing at all. These guys were cool, it was a blessing to get some friends on the first day. Especially some that I had a lot in common with.
For the most part, Keith took the liberty of talking to me, keeping me included in the conversation. It made me feel nice, he was actually pretty chill, melting the awkward tension we had when we first met a week ago. A few drops of ice cream melting onto his hand as he occasionally slurped it off, complaining about how it made his hands sticky. I chuckled at his whining, throwing him a napkin for his hands, to which he thanked me for. The longer we talked, the more orange the sky got. The sun set as we had long finished our cones.
Troy excused himself, saying his parents were parked to take him home, we told him goodbye as he walked off, leaving just the four of us. Liu still not engaging in any of the conversations we were having, instead looking on his phone. Sometimes, he made me worry, he never really socialized much. I didn’t want him getting mad he was left out, but I also didn’t want him to get mad at me for interrupting whatever he was doing. I distanced my attention from him to keep my mind off of it, keeping myself busy by talking to Keith and Randy.
Sooner or later, we began to drag ourselves into the nearby skatepark. Alt rock blasted through the speakers as a bunch of kids zipped by on skateboards and scooters. I felt really out of place, I would’ve brought my bike with me if I knew any of this was going to happen. Now I just look like a stupid idiot who has no clue what’s going on. I looked around, seeing some of the kids cower away when we walked in, specifically from the sight of Randy. Nothing weird, I caught notice of it crossing paths with him from time to time during today. Kids just didn’t seem to like being around him. I didn’t understand why, he was cool to hang out with. Never crossed me that people were scared of him.
I stood around, until Keith elbowed me in the shoulder.
“What?” I asked.
“Come on, I wanna teach you something dude.” He told me, pulling me to the side of the park away from the other kids.
I looked at him a bit confused, before he reached behind my head and tied some of my hair back out of my face. I won’t lie, I near about rocked his shit, but I stopped myself from moving my fist. I never let nobody touch my hair, but I’ll let it slide. I didn’t need to get a bad rep on the first day here. I kept my head.
“There, now you can see.” He smiled, quickly resting his skateboard on the ground, before turning back to me.
“So, what are you gonna teach me?” I asked, dragging on a few words with a bit of sass.
“Skateboarding.” He smiled, making me mentally fear for my face’s safety.
He helped me up onto the board, It was really shaky, I didn’t like it. I slowly followed what he told me to do, pivoting my right foot directly forward as I used my left to push myself forward. I didn good for a yard, until I got scared and dragged my left to stop myself, nearly falling forward as I stumbled off. Keith laughed as he continued to try and help me.
After a long evening of me falling off a skateboard and nearly breaking my face a few times, it was time for Liu and I to head home. Which, I was pretty sad about. I had a good time with these guys, I didn’t wanna go home, but unfortunately I had to. Keith took us all back to his car, Randy taking a spot in the back next to my brother, while Keith let me sit in the front next to him. Occasionally he’d tease me about how dumb I looked with Randy, but it was a good laugh fro all of us really. Liu, however, didn’t care at all, he seemed more annoyed with them.
I glanced at Keith every now and then, taking in his face. He had a sharp jawline with defined cheekbones. His lips had two piercings, I think he also had one on his brow. He looked pretty cool, which made me want to get some more piercings, but the earrings alone were enough for my dad to get onto me, so I oughta not push it. His hair looked so fluffy and jagged, I liked how it hid his face, it made him look a lot more attractive. I didn’t know what I felt for him, but it was like my insides were melting ice cream. It made me feel a good type of sick.
I reached for the music, Keith quickly snatching my hand.
“My car, my radio.” He told me.
“No dude trust me I have a good taste in music.” I argued.
“I’m not so sure about that Mississippi.” He snapped, Randy snickering in the back.
‘No really it’s good.” I laughed.
“FIne, if it’s about trucks and girls I am going to lose it.” He warned me, to which I rolled my eyes.
I turned a few channels ahead, trying to find the one specific station I liked. After a short moment of switching through channels, some Linkin Park quickly began to play through the radio.
“Ok, you weren’t lying.” He told me, a sheepish smile on his face.
“Yeah, I’m a swine but I ain’t uncultured.” I told him in a prideful tone.
Once he’d dropped Randy off, I told him where our house was, Keith taking his sweet time with the turns. The sky was a twilight blue, almost nighttime. He slowly stopped the car in front of our driveway, Liu quickly making his exit.
“Bye, thanks for the ride home man, I really appreciate it.” I told him.
“No problem, you guys are cool, it’s awkward being new, I’ve been there.” He replied with a friendly smile.
I nearly stepped out and closed the door, noticing I still had my hair up, turning around, “Oh hey here’s the-” I started, before getting interrupted.
“Nah dude keep it, I’ll pick you guys up tomorrow by the way. Catch you later Jeff.” He told me, with a smile, rolling up the window as he drove away.
I stepped inside, sitting at the dinner table with my family. That same ice cream melting feeling coming back as I slowly smiled.

•The One With The Cookies•
A Reddie Oneshot
Summary: Eddie comes back from a stressful day at work and just wants to bake cookies.
~
Pulling into the driveway, relief filling Eddie Kaspbrak as he parked his car. A breath he didn't know he was holding escaped his lips, resting his head against the steering wheel. Content to have a moment of peace after a stressful day at work.
This was Eddie's fifth day at his new job, he was an intern to some big fashion designer, and he isn't the nicest guy. Although the job kinda sucked, he needed the money. Living life as a 23-year-old who rents an apartment with his boyfriend isn't cheap. He rubbed his temples, trying to rid the memory from his mind before grabbing his bag and heading inside the apartment building.
The elevator in the lobby has been broken since forever so everyone is forced to take the stairs. Usually, he would plug his earbuds in and listen to music but today he was fine with listening to the rhythm of his own heartbeat and the sound of his feet hitting the steps as he made his way up to the fourth floor, where his apartment was situated.
Eddie stopped short of his apartment door, for a moment he was excited. The thought of the O Oreos he bought gave him a reason to bake, which always put the brunette in a good mood. Baking was his favourite hobby, he even had a website which he sold baked goods on. It was his favourite way of relieving stress, it was also the main thing he did when he was stressed.
Before another thought could cloud his mind, Eddie braced himself and opened the door, ready for a greeting from his roommate, his boyfriend. He entered the apartment and quickly shut it behind him.
He gave his apartment a once over, looking through the family room and the kitchen, then down the short hallway where 3 doorways lined the wall. Suddenly the door leading to his roommate room rapidly opened, revealing a boy of the same age as Eddie, with wild dark brown curls and thick glasses, he wore a red shirt under a white Hawaiian shirt. "EDUARDO" He exclaimed at the sight of his boyfriend.
A smile appeared on Eddie's face as he hugged his boyfriend, "Hey Rich". The words left his mouth sounding more like a sigh then actual words.
Richie suddenly pulled away from the hug, "Oh god, what's wrong?", tilting his head like a confused puppy.
"Work, It's tiring..." Eddie's voice trailed off. Richie slowly moved his hands up to cup Eddie's cheeks before he planted a kiss on his boyfriend's forehead. He let it linger for a moment before moving down, about to kiss Eddie's neck when he pulled away from Richie.
"Richie... I don't wanna do this right now" The shorter of the two said as the taller boy raised his hands up in defeat. "Whatever you say Eds", disappointment laced his voice as he slowly backed away from his boyfriend. He turned and made his way towards the kitchen where he opened the fridge, looking for something to eat.
Eddie took his time making his way into his room, slowly getting changed out of his work clothes and into something more comfortable. He grabbed a long-sleeve black shirt and his red shorts. He didn't spend much time choosing his clothes, he just wanted to bake the rest of the day away.
Walking back into the kitchen, he pulled up the recipe for the cookies on his phone. This was a new recipe for him, Eddie had been wanting to make them for a while, cheesecake oreo cookies. Even just the idea caused Eddie's mouth to fill with saliva as he pictured the cookies and the flavours and the textures.
Eddie looked over the ingredients one more time before making a mental list and padding around the kitchen for the things he needed, placing them on the counter as he collected them. Eddie opened up the cupboard which they kept all the cookies and sweets, searching for the Oreos he needed, but they were nowhere to be seen.
"Hey Eds, wanna catch up on Runaways?" Richie asked from his place on the couch.
"Sorry Rich, I've got a new recipe I wanna try out. Hey by any chance have you seen the Oreos I bought on the weekend?" He asked.
"Oh... Shit, sorry Eds I thought those were just like... snacking foods" Richie's cheeks turned pink as he pivoted around in his seat to see Eddie's disappointed face. "Oh babe I'm sorry, want me to go run and grab some from the store? I'll be back before you can say cheesecake Oreo cook-".
"No. It's fine, it's fine! That'd take too long, I already have all of the ingredients out..." Eddie's voice trailed off, trying to think of what to use instead "I'll just use chocolate chips".
He quietly sighed before looking for the last thing on his list. The flour, which was on the highest shelf in the kitchen
I really need to move that
The brunette rolled his eyes as he weighed his options. Ask Richie who's peacefully watching TV, which would disturb his peace, or grab one of the table chairs to use as a stool.
Oh god that's so unsafe
He realized before going with the best option. He got on his tippy toes and reached as high as he could. It's not that he didn't want to talk to Richie or anything, Eddie just needed a little time to himself, and Richie can just be so much sometimes, it's tiring when he only wants peace.
Eddie's fingers brushed against the bag of flour, he tried reaching even higher. He was able to push it a little, slowly pushing it towards the edge. Just as he was about to get a grasp on the bag, he felt someone slap his ass. Eddie jumped back, hitting his hip against the cupboards beside him. The pain from the impact immediately shot through his hip, causing him to curl up a little and move his hands to put pressure over the area where there was the most pain.
"What the hell Richie?" Eddie snapped, his voice serious, which caught Richie off guard.
The trashmouth did what he usually did, played it off with humour, "How could I not? Your ass is so cute" He winked at Eddie. After a moment he realized Eddie was actually in pain, he went to go console him when Eddie shooed him away.
"No-No, god you always do this" Eddie closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose.
This is gonna bruise so bad
Richie's face changed, his smile faltered as he raised an eyebrow, "What? What do I always do?" he crossed his arms over his chest.
"Annoy the living shit out of me!" Eddie spat.
The taller boy rolled his eyes, "Here we go again... Cause it's almost my fault isn't it? And you're such a little angel, right? I'm always the annoying shit, when all I wanna do is touch the fucking love of my life. But guess what? I CAN'T EVEN DO THAT!" Richie raised his voice.
Eddie's face was heating up now, all of the emotions building up like a dark group of clouds on the verge of a thunderstorm. "Yeah and I'm always the bad guy? All I want is some peace and fucking quiet but I never get shit with your trashmouth always joking about some bullshit".
There was a moment of deadly before Richie broke it, "Fine, enjoy your fucking peace and quiet, Kraspbrak", the tone of his voice was filled with anger and disappointment as he pushed past Eddie and went into his room, slamming the door before locking it behind him.
The moment Richie pushed past him, Eddie felt his emotions begin to overflow as a tear that burned like lava as it rolled down his cheek.
"F-Fuck, Fuck, FUCK!" He whispers shouted as he thrusts his fits against his side, in an attempt to try to relieve some of the anger that's building up inside of him.
I always do this
I always have to put other people in bad moods the moment things even go mildly wrong. It's not his fault I'm in a bad mood, so why is he the one I always take it out on? He just wants to love me...
Eddie slid down to the ground against the cabinet under the sink. He sat on the floor of his kitchen for a while, allowing himself to calm down and gather his thoughts.
He might be annoying as hell, always sarcastic and a fucking trashmouth
But he's my trashmouth...
~
When the time came to add the chocolate chips into the batter, Eddie carefully removed the bowl from its place in the mixer and set it down on the counter. Not bothering to clean the beaters that were filled with cheesecake cookie dough as he had other plans for them. He measured out the chocolate chips and poured the exact amount into the bowl. He folded the dough back and forth with a spatula. Which mixed the chocolate chips into the dough, making it perfectly polka-dotted.
He smiled down at the dough for a moment before realizing he needed a taste tester to make sure the dough tasted alright without the Oreos. But his official taste tester, Richie, had yet to emerge from his room, even after 2 hours. He retrieved a clean spoon from the dishwasher and scooped up a hefty amount of cookie dough, making sure the cookie to chocolate chip ratio was correct before shovelling the whole thing into his mouth.
His smile grew wider, spreading even to his eyes as the sweet sensation filled his mouth. He finally understood why Richie loved eating the cookie dough so much. Usually, Eddie cleaned off the beaters and the bowl until there were barely any remnants left, but Richie always insisted on cleaning them off with his tongue. Which Eddie never did himself, as he found it really unsanitary, but he enjoyed watching the joy spread through his boyfriend's face when he told him there were beaters to clean.
Suddenly an idea popped into the brunette's head before quickly got to work. He made the dough into little balls and placed them onto the cookie sheet. Then making some by only scooping out the dough with a spoon, Richie always preferred the ones that looked more imperfect compared to the perfect little circle ones Eddie always ate.
Once the last batch went into the oven and the rest of the cookies were on a rake to dry. Eddie removed the beaters from the mixer and placed them inside the bowl that still had dough remnants inside, sprinkling some chocolate chips inside to sweeten the deal.
He smiled down at his little peace offering before carrying it to Richie's locked door. He could hear the muffled sound of a Sam and Colby video coming from Richie's laptop, as today was the day the YouTubers usually posted. So before Eddie could think anymore about outcomes, he placed the bowl with the beaters inside, on the floor in front of Richie's door, quickly knocked then bolted down the hallway. He hid behind the corner, waiting to hear the sound of Richie's door open. There was a minute where Eddie worried whether he knocked hard enough before the sound of the youtube video paused, followed by some shuffling and the sound of his boyfriend's door creaking open.
There was a huff of air that came from Richie's nose as he smirked down at the bowl before him. He snatched it off the floor and closed his door. Eddie peaked around the corner just in time to see his boyfriend smile before closing the door.
Eddie waited until the last batch of cookies finished baking. He removed them from the oven and let them cool on the rack for a minute. Still warm he carefully picked 6 cookies from the still-warm batch and placed them on a plate. He grabbed two cups, filling them with milk and set up his little display on a tray.
He balanced everything surprising well until he realized he needed a hand to knock on the door that stood before him. A hand which he didn't have. His mind started thinking about the different ways to get Richie's attention right before the door slowly opened.
Richie stood before him. He had a couple of inches on Eddie so he smiled down at him, the corner of his mouth had a little cookie dough remaining, indicating that he enjoyed the dough. He opened the door up wider and said "You know you're the loudest tip toe-er ever, right Eds?" and there he was, Eddie's trashmouth.
Eddie entered his boyfriend's room, Richie moved to stand before his window, where the blinds were open, making Richie a dark silhouette. The shorter boy placed the tray down on his desk, where his laptop sat with the paused Youtube video.
Eddie quickly turned to face Richie and said "I'm sorry", he let out a sigh before continuing, "I was so tired from work, and I just needed a moment. I didn't mean to lash out at you cause I know you only wanna make me happy and I'm-" But before Eddie could finish rambling at top speed, a pair of lips collided with his.
The brunette kissed his boyfriend back, slowly moving his hands up to play with Richie's hair. "God, I love you" He whispered to Richie as he felt his lips smile against his own.
"I know Eds"
~
After a little bit more making out, the two finally settled down on Richie's bed. The darker haired boy sat cross-legged, back against his headboard and his boyfriend's head against his chest. Eddie laid on Richie with the plate of cookies carefully balanced on his chest, making it easily assessable for both of them. They laid there, enjoying the others company while they watched one of their all-time favourite stupid movies, The Hangover.
The room had grown dark as the credits began to roll. Eddie moved the now empty plate off his chest as he flipped over onto his stomach to face Richie.
"I really am sorry, you know" His eyes showing his sincerity.
"I know spaghetti, I could never stay mad at you" Richie smiled warmly down at Eddie before leaning in and kissing his boyfriend on the forehead.

i think a pivotal moment in my life was running into kevin jonas as the cheesecake factory once, locking eyes, and not knowing who he was until he walked away. those eyes bore into me, begging me for something -- anything. what it was, i still don’t know, but it was a silent plea, nonetheless. i’m still willing to help you, kevin

Love Controls Everything
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader (Unnamed OFC) Summary: When every taste, scent, feeling, emotion, every thing has been tarnished with negative memories, we need someone to help us re-learn how to love them again. Words: 1.1k A/N: Another drabble turned into 1k at 2am, oops? I just needed to get something written so I hope this isn’t too boring or rubbish or dull. Title: Say You Love Me by Jessie Ware
The taste of mandarin cheesecake, on a humid September afternoon, had been a pivotal and defining moment in their relationship, or rather it was from her standpoint. Her heart fluttered upon seeing the fresh dessert sat on a patterned side plate as it chilled in her refrigerator, he’d known it was her favourite, a silly admission one evening after a mindless debate over cake versus ice cream. I’m happy to settle for a tin of drained mandarins over a vanilla cheesecake, Bucky. Honestly, I’m easy going, I don’t ask for much she grinned over her tea whilst he fondly rolled his eyes and pulled her legs into his lap to allow her to stretch out over his sofa. Her taste buds tingled as her tongue wrapped around a forkful from a generous slice she’d offered herself, enjoying the sweet after many months of swearing off it. The negative memories were subsiding, and she knew Bucky hadn’t left this for her with ulterior motives. There was nothing more to the gesture than treating her with something he knew she loved, there was no unspoken apology tacked onto it, no I messed up so here’s something I know you’ll love to make up for my wrong doing, he did it because he wanted to, not because of an obligation to curb his guilt. She’d known in that mouthful that she loved him, and that he loved her too. There was no question about it, no doubt in her mind. It wasn’t just cheesecake, there was more meaning to it than that. Her left hand picked up her phone off the kitchen counter whilst her right curled around the fork to break off another bite, the prongs tucked into a piece of fruit. She captured an image of herself eating the bite with a warm and lazy smile pulling on her lips and fired it off to her boyfriend, No tinned fruit or plain cheesecake in sight? What did I do to deserve this? Her phone buzzed almost instantly, You were just being you. Good enough reason for me. ~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~ Bucky’s cologne had been too much to be in their early dating days, it wasn’t overly strong or pungent, but the familiarity of the scent had thrown her off balance and brought on a swift migraine, bringing an end to their third date much sooner than either would have liked. It took three weeks for her to admit to him that it reminded her a lot of her ex-boyfriend’s cologne, and she meant no disrespect or offence to Bucky; it was just a lot to take in after how that relationship had ended. He’d been so taken by her that early on in their relationship that he’d told her he would change it if it bothered her that much. She knew then that any guy willing to give something up to make life a little easier for her, was worth persevering for and trying harder to see further than her past. She insisted that that wasn’t the reason she’d told him, she wanted to be honest and not make him doubt her interest in him, she was just recovering from a painful break up, he needn’t change anything about himself. As the months wandered on, her nose would press into his neck and the scent of his fragrance became warming and comforting and Bucky. It was pleasant and homely and instead of being repelled by it, she welcomed it and enjoyed the way it clung to his too-small shirts and his sun kissed golden skin. He was slowly reconfiguring everything she’d come to dislike, or associate with negative memories, and made her subconsciously enjoy them and love them for their subtle significance in their lives. ~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~ Falling in love with Bucky had been one of the hardest, yet easiest, feelings and experiences she had encountered. He wasn’t perfect, nor was she, nor was anyone for that matter. But that was irrelevant, he was attentive and loving and that was what made everything about the shift in her feelings for the long-haired brunette, easy. The hardest part had been allowing herself to admit it, to actually believe that she had found someone that wouldn’t hurt her like she’d been previously hurt, that this man she adored with all of her heart could actually love her the way she deserved be loved. He gave her the hope and happiness she had yearned for for as long as she could remember. The last time she’d dared to love anyone had hurt her to the point she feared she would never love again, didn’t feel that she was capable of giving her heart over to someone again, unsure whether she’d be able to survive any further pain. Her ex-lover had certainly done quite a number on her and that had made her hesitant, in both allowing herself to feel anything, and trusting someone new. But the cheesecake and the cologne and many nights sharing a bed, being intimate, hand holding, handwritten post-in notes, rosé wine, pasta dishes, they all had a different meaning now that they’d been shared with Bucky. The negativity, snide comments, sniggers, protests, had long since given way to smiles, happiness and love. She enjoyed everything she’d one told herself to dislike or push aside, Bucky had helped her enjoy the little things again and cast a rose-tinted glow over everything that had been shaded in grey. ~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~ “I love you,” Bucky admitted earnestly, her head rested again his chest, cradled between his palms. She pulled her head back to take a second to look into his eyes, she could see the raw emotion and honesty emanating from them, the love and fondness bottled up in cerulean orbs that bored into hers. His thumbs brushed her cheeks and his eyes blinked slow as the width of his smile increased despite her non-verbal response. He could see it as clear as day, etched all over her face, neither would ever have to say those words again if they continued to look at each other as they were in that serene moment. “I love you, more than I ever thought possible.” His kisses were passionate and longing and they both kissed with echoed unspoken words. You’re everything to me. You’re my past, present and future. You’re worth all the pain of the past. And then one of the most important memories Bucky re-wrote for her, was one early August morning, from the comfort of cool, crisp white sheets on their bed when he uttered the four words that had once haunted her and made her bolt from a loveless partnership, Will you marry me? With no hesitation, she nodded emphatically, and grinned and laughed and cried and kissed her love with the promise of an equal future of re-learning to love everything their life could offer them, together. ~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~ Please let me know what you think! Likes, comments and reblogs are all greatly appreciated xo
