Steve is unknowingly popular in teacher spaces online despite not having social media because his students keep posting videos of him on Tiktok.

Every now and again, a video will break containment and reach a wider audience - like the time one of his students used ‘girl math’ to justify their wrong answer and Steve responded with an exhausted ‘math is non-binary’ - but it’s always a flash-in-the-pan kinda thing. The lasting power isn’t there.

Or well, it wasn’t before famed rockstar Eddie Munson started randomly quoting some of the dorky shit ‘Teacher Steve’ says in those videos.

Someone puts together a compilation of Eddie quoting videos that have less than one hundred views. Now Eddie has to admit that he’s kinda obsessed with the guy and suddenly Steve is famous everywhere online (still doesn’t know about it though).

Things may have died down but then one of his students post a video of them asking Steve if he knows Eddie, and Steve is just like, “Munson? Eddie Munson from high school?”

They’re married btw.

#it’s funny if they’re married and that’s how Steve refers to Eddie #it’s also funny if they’re not and Eddie is still obsessed with his high school crush #and Steve doesn’t know Eddie got famous #he genuinely thinks for a second that all of his students know about a random guy he went to high school with #bc this version of Steve would be so chronically offline that he didn’t get an internet connection in his house until streaming platforms #became a thing #and even then he still prefers to use the computer at the library #Eddie sees a video of Steve explaining that to his sixth period and falls in love even more #meanwhile the CC boys are filming TikToks of Eddie watching this YouTube comps of King Steve from HS #also still pushing my math teacher Steve agenda #steve harrington #eddie munson

Incorrect, the fact that Biden has dropped out and a candidate with history of supporting medicare for all and being more receptive to a ceasefire in the I/P conflict has made me go from "I cannot morally support the Democratic nominee" to "I am voting for the Democratic nominee despite the fact she isn't perfect in every respect." I'm really happy this played out. The Dems for the most part abandoned the old Obama platform and it feels like its possible an actual progressive agenda could come to pass in my lifetime.

falling headfirst back into my middle/highschool hyperfixation of shipping blossom ppg and dexter laboratory (aged up ofc), except now im a lot better with characterization and relationship dynamics so their whole story in my head has gotten a huge glow-up of sorts & i love them even more now

can we talk about the katniss/lucy gray parallels (or lack thereof) for a sec?

they're superficially the same, because of the things we talk about all the time: they're both female victors from 12. there are things that come with that culture and background -- the mockingjay, the plants, the songs. those similarities aren't so much between them as people, as individuals -- they're born of coming from the same culture. the most significant thing they share is their resilience; their spirit of resistance and rebellion. their defiance.

but really, all those things they share, only serve to demonstrate just how different they are as individuals (because personality is different from upbringing or values).

we parallel their sarcastic bows, but they're so so different. lucy gray is a performer mockingly curtseying and saying "kiss my ass", where katniss is a hunter who doesn't have time for this society bullcrap.

they both sing the hanging tree, but as i've ranted about, their renditions show how different they are: lucy gray, again, a performer with a spirit unbroken, loud and charming and sassing right to the capitol's face, daring them to defy her, daring them to look away. katniss, again, a hunter, quiet but unyielding, sparking rebellion under the capitol's nose.

they both won their games, but in such different ways. lucy gray charmed the snakes (both literal and in the form of one coriolanus snow), while katniss threw down with weaponry.

lucy gray said look at me, care about me. katniss said fight for me, fight with me.

and so what we see is that they are not at all the same person, but that's what's so important. because it's not just one person or one type of person that puts their foot down and rebels. we don't need a specific kind of Chosen One to light the spark -- anyone can.

#i pinched a nerve in my wrist and covid is rocking my shit so im working veryyyy slowlyyyy #but this was fun :D i am very excited to compile this texture pack! its a lot of my grandmothers and brothers painting scraps #and all the actium stuff is already scheduled for friday at 9am across all platforms so i cant forget again lol #also these were like 30 year old acrylics i used? cheap student shit too. the pigments and texture were actually fantastic for most of them #amazing. most of them didnt even smell weird #minadraws

Me going into that interview powered-up from all the luck and well-wishes from my family and friends like:

#i talk #job talk #I think it went really well!#Despite my body and brain self-sabotaging me by keeping me up until like... 3:30 am last night #The biggest mark against me is the fact that I don't have tons of experience managing a specific program platform #but I (a bit belatedly) reminded them that I have tons of experience doing website management (including our company's website)#so maybe that helps???#There were 3 interviewers which would've been stressful (even if that seems to be the norm now) but I knew all of them #Like. I don't know them SUPER well but I DO know them. As in we've all met and there's no bad blood or anything #So that helped a LOT #Me on my hands and knees like: Please let this be a nepotism hire I need a better paying job so frickin bad #It's hilarious (but mostly extremely depressing) how the first interview I've gotten in YEARS after hundreds of job applications—#—is only because it's for a job at a company I already work for. What a mess. And I have almost 10 years of experience in my field #Anyways. It was a virtual interview but I still put makeup on so A) They don't see how dead I look #and because B) My eyeliner really makes my expressions more visible #I actually never wore eyeliner until I started teaching online during the peak of the pandemic / lockdown #I made the same discovery that my eyeliner really makes my expressions more visible and I look friendlier #Which I think helped since my students were all Going through It (I mean; we all were; but good god lockdown was bad for the kids)#So now I just kinda always wear eyeliner when I do makeup. I could probably do it thinner but I'm too lazy to re-learn it #Makeup is an expensive art form but I admire anyone who is dedicated to the practice. It's really cool seeing people do it!#Anyhoo back to work #gif warning

theyve renamed the cave creek trail after the victims of the platform collapse, for the anniversary. im glad DOC have done this.

my fathers coworker worked the track and was one of the first people on the scene after the collapse and it was truly, truly horrific.

another retired along with higher up conservation staff because they felt culpable for the accident, when it was down to government underfunding and understaffing. their unwillingness to fund structures on tracks until it was clear that not doing so had fatal results.

#the people who built the platform werent bad people they thought they were helping the department out by doing some work for free #they had no idea it wouldn't hold the weight of those people and they never wouldve nailed it had they known #they pulled footage from the archives and you could see my dads coworker there taking the wreck apart. it had killed another doc worker #on the track among the polytech students #i will never forget the quote of someone running into docs head office and telling them that the viewing platform on the hill #at cave creek had collapsed #and they said ''what platform?''#because it was never a sanctioned build. it was locals trying to help the department out

#not really relevant but #every time i sit in the park i remember when i was like 16/17 #sitting in the PARK with the lamest battle jacket and my big platform docs because i was in that part of my life #like i looked mildly punk enough that like a normie would think i was really cooking with gas #and this fucking girl and her boy with her idk if they were students or just annoying #she was walking around taking pictures with a DSLR and she started taking pictures of me feeding the pigeons for no fucking reason #didnt ask just did it #and i wish it had happened now bc i would tell her to fuck off and you shouldnt take pictures of people downtown without their permission #bc youre just asking for unnecessary confrontation. also its rude #but i never said anything bc i was 17 and nervous #the pictures probably sucked too she was too far away and the lighting was bad.
