rewatching season one really makes me see how will's right, mike is the heart.

he's the one who insisted to look for will to hopper.

he's the one who convinced lucas, and dustin by proxy, to ignore the adults and look for will.

he is the one who brings up the fact that el is scared and hurt while lucas and dustin are yelling.

all these examples are within ep 1 and the first fourty seconds of episode two. mike was always the heart. he just lost his way after outside expectations. at the end of the day, he is the care and love and protection of the group.

of course mike is going to date el even if it doesn't make him happy. of course he's going to conform to ideals of the outside world. all he wants are for his friends to be happy, so he'll conform to the expectations of what the outside world says he should want, what his friends think he wants, what el wants. fuck, even what he thinks will wants, since the painting. he is the perfect victim for comphet, because it was never about him. it was always about his friends.

i'll never understand people who choose mileven cause it's literally the most toxic ship i've ever met. even the cast members agree with that.

listen - girl who grew up outside of society becomes attached to the first person she meets who takes her in and gives care. she doesn't know what love is and thinks that's what's going on between her and mike.

meanwhile, mike, who grew up in an unhappy family with a homophobic father, tries to behave like everyone else, to fit in with society and indoctrinate himself with his feelings for eleven, because he must have a girlfriend. mike using el as a cover and protection, thus traumatizing her time after time. he loves odie, he really does, but it is not the love she thinks it is. mileven can only exist in a platonic way because mike is gay, and the duffers reveal this throughout the series, giving millions of obvious references and almost direct hints. people who think byler is fanon and not canon have either watched the series extremely superficially, completely ignoring the details and internal problems of the characters, or are homophobes who are willing to turn a blind eye to everything just to avoid seeing the real thing.

we’ve already seen the outcome of the romantic mileven - two unhappy people who don’t have a mutual understanding and are completely unable to communicate with each other, + suffering will, who is forced to watch this whole game of love -

the only way out in their situation - eleven who is temporarily left alone to work through her own traumas and just live for herself, without trying to please anyone. and the long-awaited byler romantic reunion ofc .

Like, you're telling me El JUST got out of an experimental lab where she's been isolated from society for years, and then she just gets infodumped about how society works by TV and other bullshit and just "falls in love" with Mike EVEN if she didn't know what friends were even a year ago!? Like okay... Sounds like society's trying to force them together. 🤷

i actually like the idea of mike coming out to el first in s5.

first, it makes sense because he has to be honest with her finally after lying - meaning to tell the full truth. secondly, it would be a good opportunity to send a sweet message to the audience, and actually a good moment to give a little more development to el.

i imagine mike coming out in tears, and el’s just so confused why this is such a hard thing to say. since she probably has no clue gay people exist, she also has no understanding why it’s seen as ‘bad.’ then mike’s internalized homophobia begins speaking, saying how he feels isn’t normal and unacceptable.

because el has experience in feeling not normal and unaccepted, she’d reassure mike that it’s alright and that he isn’t a freak just for loving boys instead of girls.

besides it being a heartwarming and emotional scene, this would also be a good moment of tiny development for el - showing the audience that she’s learnt to accept herself and that even if she may not be what everyone wants her to be, she still belongs.

I have a serious problem with "fileven" shippers. It's not the fact that they ship them, it's the fact that they do not respect Millie or Finn. Some of them reach so far.

There is a page on Instagram called "love_mileven" some of you might know them.

A few days ago when The Aubrey's new song "Kato" released (the Aubrey's is the duo/band Finn is apart of) Millie happened to post a picture of Jake (her fiance) on her story (almost 24 hours after Kato released). love_mileven went and immediately posted about this on their story.

Basically saying that Millies team posted this picture on her story so Jake wouldn't get taken over by Finns new song coming out. And how this is all a cover up because Millie and Finn are in love but their teams won't let them be together.

If you guys saw some of Millies recent stories, you may have seen a small bruise on her arm. This account posted this picture saying "Do you see that bruise? I am concerned for her safety" And we all know what they were implying. I dm'md them saying that they really need to stop jumping to conclusions. And they basically said that they weren't implying anything about Jake, which we all know is a lie.

I was sitting there like "wtf is wrong with people 💀💀💀💀" .

Millie is LITERALLY ENGAGED. If you wanna ship 2 friends, fine. But at least respect Millies VERY REAL relationship with Jake.

(also this account"love_mileven" is always so quick to say Millie doesn't run her account, every single time Jake is even mentioned on Millies Instagram. Can any of you find an article from RECENTLY confirming that she in fact does not run her account?)
