I don’t know if this is a hot take or not re: the watcher announcement but I do wish people would have the same patience that was afforded to dropout when they went independent. The model is exactly the same and it allowed the artists that work there to flourish in a way that’s impossible to do in a different platform. YouTube revenue sharing is atrocious and this will allow them to make even more amazing stuff that they love. Violet Evergarden Rant [Spoilers!!]

While I don’t like how the Major was in love with Violet,

I did like Violet being in love with the Major

Her love (or the pursuit of finding out what love is) is what drove her to meet all these wonderful people. It’s what drove her to want to become a Memory Doll, in a way. Maybe she could’ve found her way into the job without being in love with the Major, but it was a defining reason she gave to people when they asked why she was working as one.

That being said, I hated the [last] movie ending. Why the hell did they give her the wife ending?

I firmly believe that the Major should’ve remained dead. He remains dead and Violet finds her place amongst the Dolls, realizing that love isn’t limited to romance. It should’ve ended with a montage of her visiting everyone she’s met before and showing the love they have for each other.

And if they needed the Major alive, then they should have never let him and Violet develop romantically. It should’ve shown him talking to Hodgins about how his rehabilitation on the island made him realize how badly he messed up Violet’s life. How his eyes opened and he sees her now as a child who could’ve had a good life if he wanted, rather than a strong girl who loved him too. They could’ve shown him wallowing in his guilt over bringing an innocent child into the war instead of forcing her to grow under the care of his family. It should’ve shown him rejecting Violet from a man to a teenager instead of from the eyes of The Loved and the Lover. Then the two could’ve parted ways with Violet learning love under a new light while he recovers on the island. I’d even forgive it if it ended with Violet approaching Gilbert as family and the two healing from the war instead of just ending as lovers.

Pisses me off still to this day.

FINALLY finished persona 5 royal and i have some THOTS. major spoilers ahead.

i like akechi in royal and i like sumire (as a character, her actual arc feels weird and out of place to me) and i enjoyed playing through the extra palace and the little gameplay improvements/extra confidant content but i think overall i definitely prefer vanilla p5. especially vanilla p5’s ending. royal’s ending fucking sucked.

the story felt so much less cohesive when compared to vanilla p5, the new content felt… not quite right? it didn’t fully match up with the vibe of the rest of the story. maruki’s motivation was interesting but his means felt a little too on the nose if that makes sense? i think him seeing someone he loved suffer a traumatic experience and wanting to end human suffering bc of it felt real and organic but him awakening to his persona and changing cognition doesn’t feel like an actual facet of the universe? it’s never properly explained why maruki is the only one with that power or how he can have a palace AND a persona. i think if they spent a little more time setting that up and integrating it into the story it could’ve felt so much more… real? rather than feeling a bit shoehorn-y.

and i definitely much prefer vanilla’s ending where the thieves take that road trip. it feels like a satisfying conclusion to the journey, the phantom thieves going on one last adventure to take their leader home. the hasty goodbye in royal’s ending doesn’t hit as emotionally hard, and it doesn’t make much sense. why do they have the van? just to drive protag to the train station? who the hell is following them? why is maruki a taxi driver now? is akechi alive? is the metaverse actually gone? is this just the setup to a spin off or sequel rather than an actual conclusion to a story?

i’m just left feeling… kind of disappointed. i sunk over 200 hours into this game (i had to play it twice bc i didn’t unlock the extra content the first time) and the ending left a lot to be desired for me. i appreciate it for what it is but i can’t help but feel it doesn’t hit the same emotional notes as vanilla p5 did, which is crazy bc its the same game just with additional content. i have p5 strikers for my switch and i just hope it doesn’t leave me feeling so uninspired. i doubt it will though, as it’s a (kind of) standalone game and not a revamp.

anyways. royal did do the impossible and change my mind about akechi. so really, it might’ve just done it’s job.

Uhhhh….I don’t know much about that tbh, but personally I do write fanfics and ship certain things so I think it’s fine. The only thing I’m kinda iffy on is when people write super weird shit like p*do stuff and all that…but at the same time it doesn’t rly affect me so if I see it I just scroll past and move on with my life.

first of all, i don’t hate this line. I think most of the boys are drawn pretty well. but what a strange concept? the diaboys.. as priests? “dark” anti christ priests but still.. strange? it’s unique at least?

my only real complaint with ayato is how his mouth looks weird. c’mon he’s a vampire, show me the fangs. c’mon let him do the iconic bite the glove thing. it actually frustrates me how they missed that opportunity 😭 overall, he looks fine to me. there’s no detail i’m particularly drooling over. except for this one very specific detail that has me drooling over the triplets. & it’s the… halo?? like look at the triplets next to each other. ayato in the middle with his brothers on the side. i LOVE the way they’re turned with him in the middle 😫 on that note, i hate how shuu is at the end. if they just swapped subaru & shuu’s placements, we could’ve kept up with the turn thing the triplets + reiji were doing. 

kanato looks a bit off, right? is it just me or are his eyebags less dark..? idk but he looks a bit off, to me at least. also.. is that teddy? kanato has been seen with more bears in the recent merch lines, but this one kinda looks like teddy.. except he’s so dark brown?? anyways, as off as he looks to me, i still really like him. he’s grown on me the more i look at him, i think he looks pretty, & i like the pose. also kanato with earring <3

shuu’s face is very very pretty, despite that there’s nothing really that interesting about his design to me. now he doesn’t look bad at all, just a tad boring in my opinion. other then that i’m crazy about how pretty they drew his face & hair <3

why is reiji so hot rn?? the face, the pose, the chained glasses, the ascot, my god reiji pull it back sir you are a priest. i originally thought his hair looked a little flat but i think that might’ve just been me. anyways, i love him so much <3

kou is so cute looking!! i think his priest getup looks so nice & pretty on him! i’m also a bit pink & black biased, but aside from that, i really do like him. i’m very pleased with this kou. he looks cute to me <3 i like his pose too <3

azusa so pretty like when does he not look ethereal? & yknow how much i love azusa with wings <3 i love how his wings have bandages on them. it’s so azusa. i don’t really like the design of the knife but oh well he still looks pretty

carla looks alright :/ i’m a bit disappointed tbh. I always love the black ribbon in his hair, but it’s just meh here. of course i love seeing it, but not my favorite appearance of it 😔 i really don’t like the weird wind blowing thing that’s going on with him. especially with this video quality, some of his details look bad to me. like that specific strand of hair blown too close to his mouth. looks fine in higher quality, & up close, but at quick glance.. not so much. i also just don’t love the angle. it could’ve been better (imo) but he’s fine overall

KINO IS JUST GIVING IN THAT POSE. he’s got the most unique pose so he stands out the most. i’m also a fan of how his color complements the black. he just looks so fucking pretty to me & i just love his tongue sticking out. he’s one of my favorite looks tbh i just love him
