Every day, I get more and more embarrassed to say that I enjoy Helluva Boss (despite the many MANY flaws) and that I'm excited for Hazbin Hotel.

I've been following both of these projects since the pilots were released and I've happily keeping up with all the new episodes of Helluva and with all the Hazbin announcements.

But of course, because of the nature of both projects, the humor, the artsyle, the release nature, the pilots being released on YouTube, it attracted a HUGE audience who think they're entitled to do and say anything they want. Not to mention how many vitriolic haters it attracted too.

You can't defend the new cast without people loosing their shit over how the new cast "doesn't fit the characters like the pilot cast". People can't defend the new cast without putting down the pilot cast either as seen with people bashing Michael Kovach for being a bad singer when that isn't objectively true.

We can't go one week with some Vivziepop anti on Twitter pulling false accusations out of their ass trying to bash Vivenne Medrano for being a horrible witch who doesn't pay her team.

You can't criticize ANYTHING Vivienne Medrano does or any aspect of her shows without a legion of diehard stans who defend her every move and every writing decision made even tho the writing in Helluva Boss is objectively a mess.

The closer Hazbin gets to its release date the more rapidly people spew out hate from BOTH SIDES and its ruining the experience for those of us who just want to have a good time.

This is like the Voltron fandom but worse and Hazbin hasn't even been fucking released yet. I'm ready to just watch the show and stay in my lane without interacting with the fandom because this shit is exhausting. I've never seen so much drama over a show that hasn't EVEN BEEN RELEASED YET. I wanted to get Hazbin merch but now I don't want to cause I don't wanna be associated with the mountains of shit both the fandom and the hatedom continue to cause.

Fuck this. I was excited for Hazbin's release and now I'm honestly dreading it. So much for faithfully following the series for like 5 years.

i watched a compilation of other youtubers complaining about DnP, and when the complaints weren't just "the phandom is annoying," they boiled down to:

DnP are both nice but are aloof/weird/insert other trait that makes talking to them at gatherings difficult.

Phil is nice but Dan's a Bitch who Doesn't Let Phil Talk To Other People (which... Phil is a grown ass man but okay. Maybe he just doesn't want to talk to you but whatever, sure.)

DnP are nice but they queerbait (ig now they're the ultimate queerbaiters since they own a house together lmfao)

I have beaten this dead horse before, but since that Hughes post is going around and I don't want people thinking I am defending Roy Mustang of all people: Roy could've stopped.

Armstrong had a mental breakdown and refused to keep fighting, and he got shipped home. Sure, he was passed over for promotions, but he wasn't court martialed, or discharged, or even kicked out of the state alchemist program (that's their human sacrifice pipeline, after all). Except for Wrath and Olivier, no one even seems to judge him for it. Roy could've said no. Hell, he could've 'accidentally' gotten injured - someone even mentions at one point that an alchemist who lost a leg is lucky, because he can go home.

The primary rationalization for why he didn't is because of his political ambitions, that he has to see this through if he wants to ascend to the highest ranks in the government and prevent it from happening again. But a) he doesn't describe that plan until the end of the conflict, and it seems to have been inspired by conversations he had with fellow soldiers after all the murder and b) even if he was thinking that way from the beginning, it's a callous tradeoff that places him over thousands of lives. He's the only one good enough and smart enough and pure of heart enough to lead the government correctly. Even his plan to execute himself for war crimes is narcissistic - it's a grand gesture about him, not bothering to consider whether removing one of the only high ranking officials who's vocally against further genocide from play is a good long term strategy. And god forbid we ask the Ishvalan people what their idea of appropriate justice would be.

With this in mind I suppose it's fitting that he accepts the philosopher's stone made out of Ishvalan lives in order to help him achieve his political ambitions. He's been sacrificing their lives for his goals already. But it suggests he failed to learn or grow in the end.
