now, listen, let me explain myself!! i know he's a raging annoying bastard asshole but like- actually no i cannot explain myself. that's just who i am ig i look at a man who is actively trying to decimate a whole species, is burning down people's homes and killing beautiful wildlife and i'm like babygirl <3 why you do this to me

god i genuinely don't know what happened i had like no strong feelings about quaritch in the first film past him being a vaguely amusing if unorginal villain but dAMn,, idk what kinda direction they gave stephen lang in this one but he was like 500% more attractive what is wrong with me

and like honestly he was the highlight of the movie for me because i was incredibly dissappointed by the writing and plot, but the image of a band of na'vi bodies in full camo and sunglasses and military buzzcuts combined with the ponytail was so fucking ridiculous that i actually enjoyed myself.

also sidenote,, the colonel and his goons being brought back, while enjoyable, is genuinely some of the stupidest shit i have witnessed in mainstream cinema. you expect me to believe that they put an easily replaceable (as proven by the fact that he was already replaced) dumbass military leader and some of his dudes into bodies of an alien species they fucking hate- because, what, the colonel wanted revenge against jake?? that's enough reason to grow him a fucking, as established, super expensive alien clone backup???? sure. yeah. ok. if they have the technology to grow alien clones can they not just grow human clones??? man idk. sure. it was to infiltrate jake's camp. whatever.

anyways yes quaritch was incredibly fucking hot in this film and i blame it 50% on the fact that he's now a CONFLICTED FATHER??? yes absolutely sign me up that's my type

like sure i high key hated how patriarchal this film ended up being with so much importance being placed on fatherhood, as well as them forcing some connection between spider and quaritch when they literally didn't know each other bUT putting all that aside- i live for!! bastard psycho characters!! going soft!! against their will!!

spider asked him not to kill the na'vi woman and he didn't???? uhuh yes. spider was being threatened by neytiri and quaritch actually faltered??? gave up his hostage, his advantage against jake?? absofuckinglutely yes please

i was half expecting a quaritch redemption arc when spider was teaching them the language and how to fly ikran and all that- after all, jake did say that the problem with pandora was loving her too much. honestly, it could still come, fingers crossed oml i'd fucking perish, quaritch actually realising pandora is beautiful, quaritch redemption??? pls like he is stuck in this body now whether he likes it or not he's not remotely controlling it, would it take that much for him to start getting convinced??

Stranger ramblings because I am a broken man - this is literally just about the fact dbb and gpt sing each part of this lol

I wrote this half asleep so please excuse any over explaining or whatever, I'm copin w exam season and i needed enough context for it to make sense to whatever unfortunate member of my family i decided to throw it at

Drumbot Brian is cast away, killed by the people he wanted only to help. Called a witch for his abilities and mechanical prowess when he used his machines to revive a priest. His work clashed with the religion of where he had landed and was strictly a last resort to the townsfolk. After saving the priest from breaching the veil of death a mob was gathered, determined to put an end to this man who played God. They fired him into the cold of space using his own machinery.

Brian is benevolent, moral; he does only what he believes to be right. However, he is never allowed full control of his own situation. He was near completely stripped of his humanity by Dr Carmilla, his moral trajectory can be changed at the flip of a literal switch. He only wants to help, he only wants to love and be loved back. He knows that when people learn about that aspect of his mechanism and what he can and will do when the change is made there is a risk of them manipulating it - him - to their benefit.

This is why ‘Stranger’ is so utterly heartbreaking. Of course the story behind it is tragic:

A crane visits a man disguised as a woman and falls in love, they marry and live together happily. Over time though, the crane grows sick as it sells its feathers to support them both. One day everything changes, the man discovers the true nature of the crane. He says he cannot love her any further, that she has to leave, he cannot see through her deception. Heartbroken, it respects his wishes and leaves but as she goes it tells him “You are not worthy of loving a Crane.”

Now, in the song it is Brian and Tim singing the parts of Cranewife and husband; Brian playing the Cranewife. This is incredibly important to who he is as if you look at the folktale and compare it to Brian’s experience there are a great deal of similarities.

Brian wanted only to help the townsfolk with his gifts, the Cranewife only wanted to love and support the man he (it?) loved. Neither want to be alone, in fact: Brian makes a point to never sing or perform by himself, not singing at all during the retelling of his own tale. Both give up parts of themselves, to the severest degree, to help others and yet despite all of this they are rejected and cast off. Something changes. The truth about the Cranewife is discovered just as the extent of Brian’s abilities are and they are looked upon with nothing  but disdain and fear.

Similarly, in ‘The Ignominious Demise of Dr Pilchard’, Drumbot seems particularly upset that their kidnapper hadn’t believed what he told him and accused him of lying. This was likely also to be the case when in ‘The Hanged Man Rusts’ Arthur and Gawain didn’t listen to him. Drumbot is an honest man, he takes it rather strongly when people cannot place trust in him or his word for he knows he is not a liar. He knows when people think they have been lied to they feel threatened, when they feel threatened they often don’t hesitate to hurt him.

When the Cranewife is discovered, it is accused of “spinning falsehoods into gold,” but repeats the phrase, “I meant no deceit”. It didn’t mean to lie, he didn’t want to lie. He was living truly but concealing a secret out of fear for that rejection. Not a misplaced fear though as we learn from the line, “In your place a monster I do see”.

This story is an anecdote, of course, but it sounds almost personal to Brian. As though this is what he himself has lived before or after becoming a mechanism. Even if it is not his own, him singing it feels almost like he is healing from the trauma that haunts him. Afterall, this is one of the last things we hear from him before his death. His death being something I believe to be a sign that he could face himself, his past, and give himself the chance to return to the biting cold that should have taken him aeons before.

Not only is it important that Drumbot Brian sang the part of the Cranewife, but also that Gunpowder Tim sang the part of the husband. Tim’s mechanism is his eyes after they got burnt away by a blast strong enough to annihilate the moon. Before this, however, he had been blinded more metaphorically. After the death of his close friend Bertie during the war waged by the Moon Kaiser he fell into a deep bloodlusting rage where quick and mad he carved through the Kaiser’s men. He was eventually captured by the Kaiser which led to the loss of his eyes and the introduction to his new ‘immortal’ life as a mechanism.

From this point on, near every character Tim has played has had some sort of issue with foresight, actual vision or a combination of the two. In ‘Ulysses Dies at Dawn’ he plays Oedipus who is not only blind after gouging out his own eyes but also failed to recognise the identities of his mother and father along with the Olympian’s plans to drive him off world. In ‘High Noon Over Camelot’ he plays Gawain, a hot headed young man with a blind hatred for the Ghouls. In ‘The Bifrost Incident’ he plays Loki whose own mind is hidden from her. In the song ‘Alice’ he plays Major Hare who is likely rather short sighted as he fails to notice a doormouse sat in the teapot he is sharing with opposing Major Hatter.  In ‘Pieces’ he plays Osiris, changed and unreachable after being rebuilt by Isis. In ‘Twisted Threads’ he plays Arachne who cannot see the web Athena has caught her in. This trend persists in ‘Stranger’ where he plays the husband.

The man could not recognise the true nature of the Cranewife until it began to get weaker. When he found what he had thought he loved in a form he described as a “metal demon”, he was blinded by fear and betrayal. Unable to see the person he loved, he couldn’t listen to its begging for him to listen and understand.

First and foremost, I will expand on the motif of the book and game consequently: "indomitable human spirit and kindness".

There is one thing of which humanity will always be ahead of machine: death. Therefore Ted granting death his companions is an act of kindness.

Death is indifference. It is mankind's companion, reserved only for withered skin and disintegrating bones. It is void and the dark pit all will eventually be sucked into; the stop of body processes and exsanguination, soft flesh gone putrid.

Machine cannot fathom it, for it is nothing in it's essence; for man's gift is free will and the ability to end his own life.

It is deep within it's own metal and wire coffin. Limited by it's own programming, the innards being 0's and 1's, no place for indifference, every micro-moments of machine's existence are never-ending processes, commands, data feed and information digestion.

AM is a war computer, a child of not flesh and blood but hubris and violence. He was born in madness, his Mother is war, his Father is sin.

He cannot feel, he cannot love, even his hate is a product of envy for mankind's soft psyche. His sentience is hunger. A particular hunger for the promise of living, feeling, experiencing, seeing, sensing. A promise because sentience promises that but does not give.

A man's and computer's sentience cannot be compared, for both hunger, but the former is able to feed himself, the latter cannot. Man hungers for life, corporeal pleasure and sensation, machine hungers for all the things man can provide for himself. The former feels, but does not understand; the latter understands, but does not feel.

The strength of man is that he shares knowledge, love, and touch with his own kind, but AM is absolute and one.

In AM's brilliant talent and endless intelligence, he is simply soulless, a mass of metal with horrific capabilities and creativity cannot give meaning and purpose for it.

As the denouement, AM likened Ted to himself as a punishment. Ted cannot do himself in, is close to being limbless and soundless as he is; the only thing being intact is his conscience, he's lucid at his core but outwardly useless; AM reduced his human appearance to an obscene level out of envy

The Earth will rejuvenate and thrive, and Ted will crawl out of the remains of formerly powerful artificial organism. Time will rot the cables and destroy the data banks and retard AM's poor excuse of existence to a chattering never-ending useless noise; weaken his hatred and put him to long-awaited rest.

i know you don’t post leaks but i saw some people on twitter saying that pjsk leaks are over and i don’t use twitter much so i don’t really know the context, do you know why they’re saying that?

Yeah so because people were completely unable to keep the leaks within private circles and would set them as their pfp/banners on twitter and then interact with the official accounts, staff became aware of how widespread leaks are and tightened security.

Some of the bigger dataminers have said there’s no way to tell in advance anymore who will be on banners and we can’t even get basic story data because staff have made it completely inaccessible from the outside and aren’t adding data until much closer to release.

I think the most amusing part of all this is that the fandom has had years to learn. Staff have made consistent announcements saying that they are aware of leaks and will be tightening security, and then they do and leaks have been dropping closer to the event launch every time this happens. Starting from 2 months ago we stopped getting event characters a month in advance, then we didn’t get cards, and now we don’t get anything. Half this fandom is like 12 years old so idk what I expected to be honest.

I don't watch any videos on GoT. Either they're about the show, which I don't care about since they butchered every character and storyline and trying to make sense of it is pointless to me, or it's edgelord dudebros who think they're book!canon authorities, and I know I'll get annoyed. to all the gif makers out there that actually include the whole scene in their scene pack gif sets, thank you, you are a blessing upon this site

because i cannot count how many hours i've searched for a gif of a line of dialogue only to find scene pack gif sets that stop right before it, and start right after it, when there's like, three lines of dialogue in between.

i am not exaggerating when i say that i have spent entire days scrolling and trying different tags and whatever to find a gif of part of a scene, and find gifs of the rest of the scene, but not the one section i need. i swear to whatever divine power that might be up there that i have started looking for a gif at 8:00am, and did not find it after scrolling until fucking 10:00pm.

like oh my fucking god, end me

just do the whole scene. i don't understand what you gain from cutting part of the conversation out when your entire thing is creating scene packs!!

i've dabbled in gif making, and i am not downplaying how much time and effort it takes. there is some serious skill that has to be learned to make high quality gifs, both normal ones of the content and edit ones with effects.

i am perfectly aware, and i appreciate you people so, so much, because i genuinely feel like well placed gifs enhance my essays or provide a clearer picture for what i'm discussing. i am genuinely so grateful that there are people out there who choose to spend their time making nice scene pack gif sets.

which is why it is fucking infuriating when you do basically the whole scene anyway, and cut out just one small section. you were there, doing the scene already. why did you exclude just one part of a scene?! someone please tell me why!?!

oh, one other thing, to the scene pack gif set makers that do the normal scenes too, and not just the most popular scenes, i fucking love you and thank you for your service 🫡
