✎ in this moment; we are infinite by merikai ❧ teen and up, 10.6k ❧ avengers team & peter parker ❧ peter parker gets help, protection, and guidance to safety from a variety of avengers after his identity is reveal post-far from home. i really, really like the way this fic flows. it honestly felt like i was watching a movie; each scene transitioned seamlessly into the next. every time peter was handed off to someone new and the perspective changed, i was consistently stunned at the way it was executed. the writing technique here is near flawless and i really love some of the characterizations, namely sam and bucky's (but everyone was done fairly well in a way that i enjoyed). obviously i enjoyed the plotline and character interactions as well; spider-man is just a guy that is, in general, hard to dislike, and i appreciate that this is acknowledged lmao. ❧ “Kid.” Clint deadpans. He's not paid enough for this. “You're bleeding through that fancy-schmancy suit of your’s. You look like if you took one step you'd fall flat on your face. Let me help. I can help you find your friends.”

✎ the boy who cried ghost by yukla ❧ teen and up, 44.3k ❧ james "bucky" barnes/sam wilson ❧ dude... i don't know what i was anticipating going into this but i know that it wasn't what i came out with. in the most positive way possible, this fic ripped out my heart and stomped on it repeatedly. the premise is that EVERYTHING is the same, except sam is haunted periodically by a ghost-like figure since he was six years old. he appears to have mixed feelings throughout the fic within his various attempts to make friends, get it to go away, and find out who exactly the ghost is, and in an effort to not spoil, i really won't say anything more. it becomes a great point of contention in his life when he develops trust issues in telling people things since nobody has ever believed him when he told them about the ghost, as well as his general trauma and grief. don't get me started on the grief; more than it is about a ghost and a relationship, it is about sam processing his survivor's guilt and trauma from riley's death. and then, of course, everything with bucky - this is THE sambucky fic, hands down. the author writes them so naturally and perfectly and they are just. made for each other. it's perfect. the ending is tear-jerking and they are just. MMMM. this fic is an absolute work of art and should be displayed in the louvre. ❧ Sam only notices the ghost if he squints very hard, which is why he forgives his parents for how they walked past the terrifying shadow watching them from the corner of the room without even trying to fight it off for him. It shimmers slickly at the edges, violet and green and black sliding together in a translucent storm that he makes out through the slivers of his eyes. He can hardly bear to look at it.

✎ never been a natural (all i do is try, try, try) by notcaycepollard ❧ mature, 15.9k ❧ james "bucky" barnes/joaquín torres/sam wilson ❧ this is absolutely hilarious. there are more serious parts, but mostly this is just torres absolutely lusting for and falling in love with bucky and sam and it is so incredibly entertaining. there are more serious parts of it as well, and the genuine care each of them has for each other adds another soft layer to the story (there is hypothermia!!!!! hypothermia!!!!!!! huddling for warmth!!!!) i also really enjoyed the internal monologues - the author's writing style is one of my favorites for sure. i would also like to add that i almost never read poly ships, but there are exceptions to everything, and this is certainly an exception! very sweet and very funny. ❧ It's just—okay, maybe it's not the weirdest thing Torres has ever done, relationship-wise, anything that happened during the Blip can just stay in the Blip and nobody's gonna talk about it, but falling in love with Bucky Barnes by watching him fall in love with Sam, it is kind of weird.

✎ weary traveler by mistilteinn ❧ mature, 15.0k ❧ james "bucky" barnes/sam wilson ❧ while this fic does focus on a good bit of bucky's trauma, it mostly concerns himself with his somewhat internalized homophobia. coming from the 40s, he has spent a lot of time hiding himself to protect himself and his friends/family. but then, it's the twenty-first century, and he isn't exactly sure how he's supposed to present himself. but the people around him are reaching out, even if it takes him a long time to extend his own hand to meet them. i loved their characterizations, and i love how much sam just. cares. it deals with his therapist, his relationship with sam, his process of fitting back into the modern day, all within the general plot of FATWS. i really, really liked this and the ending was so tooth-rottingly sweet. ❧ His beer’s cold and crisp. Droplets of condensation slide down the ridged glass and pool against his skin. He can’t remember the last time his problems felt so far away. Maybe it’s the slow crawl of the sun through the sky. Maybe it’s Sam standing next to him.

✎ make my body come alive (i've got a right to hurt inside) by notcaycepollard ❧ mature, 3.1k ❧ james "bucky" barnes/sam wilson ❧ this concept is something that i've thought about on and off - what must it be like for someone who was completely mind-controlled and brainwashed to suddenly be in charge of how they eat? even while he was still completing missions as the winter soldier; did he look into a window of a dessert shop and see a cake? did it make him hungry? what did he do with that hunger? does he see hunger the same as pain, or does it trigger a different response entirely? how does he learn the tedious process of cooking again once he's on his own? how does he deal with the memories certain foods bring back? this fic answers all of it and then some, and it brings a very specific emotion to the pit of my stomach. really well done, this author understands these characters very well. not to mention the fresh fruits and the garden.... ugh they have my heart and soul. ❧ In Lviv, he learns what it is to have a preference. That he can dislike something. The cabbage soup is thick with pork fat and his body says, no.

✎ something blue by jilliancares ❧ general audiences, 10.1k ❧ keith/lance ❧ after fighting a memory-eating monster, everyone in the entire universe loses their memory of lance and the blue lion. cue the sequence of team voltron slowly remembering and moving to retrieve their lost paladin, spearheaded by keith obviously because klance. what i really, really like about this fic is somewhere near the beginning, where both keith and hunk perform actions that are so ingrained in their bodies after being so close to lance for so long that even when lance is gone from their memory, they are still automatically going through the motions. this really stuck with me, and is a good point to the philosophy of grief. when someone is gone, our mind may register it, but our bodies may not. if you wake up at a certain time in the morning to text someone every day for months on end, you aren't going to stop immediately when they're gone. you are going to keep waking up until you train yourself out of it. we humans are an amalgamation of the people we love, and i think that is beautiful. oh and also they fight a memory-eating monster and that's pretty flipping cool. ❧ If none of them wanted to lick the spoon, why did Keith feel like someone should? Why had Hunk set it aside automatically, as if doing so was ingrained in him?

✎ Before the World Was Big by sh_ootingstarzz ❧ general audiences, 1.8k ❧ keith & keith's father ❧ i think one of the hardest things to write is mental illness in a young child. yes, kids younger than 10 can kill themselves. kids younger than 10 can want to die, can experience depression, can experience mental illness like someone older might. not only is it gut-wrenching, it's just. hard to write in that younger perspective, where the young child doesn't know much about the world or themselves, but they do know that they feel an overwhelming, overbearing black hole in their entire system. this fic is an excellent study into that childhood suicidality, as well as the various experiences that led him to be that way (struggles with religion, poverty, and bullying). absolutely wonderful. ❧ He tells his Dad he is happy because he can’t tell him that he wants the world to end. It is his birthday and he wants the world to end, and the two aren't related until they are.

➼ undertale

✎ Flowey Is Not a Good Life Coach by unrestedjade ❧ mature, 105.7k ❧ papyrus & flowey, papyrus & sans, papyrus & undyne, papyrus & alphys ❧ recommending the second most kudo'd ao3 undertale fic in the year of our savior 2025 is, i think, the equivalent of kicking the flea-bitten corpse of what once was a dead horse. HOWEVER, THIS IS MY FIRST TIME READING THIS FIC SO I'M GOING TO RECOMMEND IT. this fic takes place during flowey's resets, where he has grown bored but has now found good entertainment in manipulating and abusing papyrus. papyrus, for his part, does not want to get anyone hurt or killed, and thus bad things happen. somehow, somehow, this is one of the best portrayals i’ve read in fanfic of how a victim of an abusive relationship may behave as a result of the abuse. i can appreciate that the abuse also isn't coming from a romantic partner or a family member; it's coming from a friend, which takes a different spin on the typical relationship abuse usually written about. papyrus.... suffers. a lot. and it takes a toll on him. it also makes him genuinely act out at the people around him; he lashes out physically, says awful and cruel things, and cannot tell a truth when his life and relationships depend on it. that isolation from peers through mental torment is exactly what makes intensely abusive relationships so effective, and i appreciate that the author goes out of their way to show it. i just. i just wish the abuser wasn't a literal flower, you know? jokes aside, absolutely banger fic, and for anyone concerned: it DOES have a happy ending, i promise. it just takes a while to get there. ❧ “From here on out, just remember that I'm doing all this because you're my cool and great friend, okay?”

➼ harry potter

✎ you've got the antidote for me by Kandakicksass ❧ mature, 20.7k ❧ draco malfoy/harry potter, hermione granger/ron weasley ❧ yet another fic concerning draco's life post-war, except he's got a little hiccup along the way because harry potter accidentally severed their soul bond before either of them knew it existed. and now only draco knows, and now only draco is dying. honestly, he does so with relative grace in this fic, given his circumstances. it is by far the most interesting to see him come to terms with his circumstances, and how paths of friendship develop in the face of change. i honestly think this is one of the more accurate portrayals of draco post-war, everything ranging from making amends to depression to bitter acceptance, but still managing to keep the core of his personality. harry really did not do anything wrong and i really appreciate that nothing is ever actually held against him for doing so - and it is more interesting to see how draco doesn't hold it against him, either. beautiful read and devastatingly gentle. ❧ “It’s okay,” he says gently. He wonders if it’s his growth as a person or the bond that allows him to be so gentle. He’d never been gentle before.

I like the idea that while Bucky's recovering, he has to relearn what hurt is, how rest feels, being full, etc.

They have to drill into him that if he's hurt, then he needs to tell them. It's just until he gets better at identifying it himself because they quickly learn he can't identify it himself.

For a while, when he first starts the long recovery process, he almost causes more damage to himself than Hydra was. Simply because he doesn't understand limits, or rest, or anything like that. He doesn't know how to care for himself.

Not maintenance.

Care. Humans need care.

And he's human now. Always was. Maybe? He's still working on that one....

It takes a while for him to really know what hurt is. Whenever something happens and he starts bleeding, or breaks a bone or anything happens that he thinks they might consider hurt, then he turns to look at them like a kid would, trying to figure out based on their reaction if he's hurt or not.

He's still bad at explaining it, though. He's still learning the different types of hurt and how to narrow down what exactly is hurting.

He usually just goes to whoever is around that he trusts and just says it hurts and stares at them.

I'm a fan of colorful/sparkly/excess bandaids being used for this because visual aids would be so helpful. Even putting them on things that don't need them but instead having them function almost as reminders more than anything else.

Bucky, be careful. You have that sprained ankle, remember?

And he just looks down at like 4 gaint, completely unnecessary, neon bandaids plastered on his ankle and remembers to take a minute to acknowledge the hurt. Just so he knows what it feels like and that if his hand hurts, he should be careful with it. And if there's a cut, then he should try not to reopen it. Or if he hurt his leg, then he should try to rest off it.

He doesn't have to stop anything, and he rarely does. It's more an exercise in body awareness and remembering that weapons don't have limits, but the human body does.

And he's human... So sometimes he has to stop.

He just kind of lingers around them when he's hungry because he hasn't quite gotten cooking down yet. He'll eat anything, even if it's undercooked or burnt, and it's kind of heartbreaking that even those are gourmet compared to the shit Hydra had him on.

He's still learning what hunger feels like and tries to remember that he needs to eat because he forgets a lot there at the beginning if they don't remind him.

They hope he forgets anyway. He says he does when they ask, but they always worry that he thinks if they don't bring it up, then he shouldn't either. Like it's a punishment, and they're playing mind games.

He's also learning what full feels like.

He has to relearn what tired is and what well rested feels like.

He sleeps curled up at first, usually shoved into somewhere small and hidden. He does that when he has episodes sometimes, too. He still has the instinct to run, but he also knows this is a good safe place, so he usually just shoves himself somewhere small and dark until he calms down.

Eventually, though, he starts to fall asleep on them. Slumped over on their shoulder, head in their lap, and pressed close when they finally convince him to sleep in their bed.

To sleep... Just come sleep, Buck. Relax... please. You're tired. You're so tired, honey, and you don't even realize it.

I just have this scene in my head and maybe I read it in a fic or saw some fanart art of it or whatever, but in the very beginning of his recovery process, when he couldn't think, got overwhelmed, scared, etc then he'd shove himself under the bed.

Small, dark, and usually against a wall so that someone could only get him from the side or bottom. He usually pushed himself back in the far corner, just a pair of wide eyes and pale skin when someone looked under it.

But gradually, he gets closer and closer to the edge until eventually he still goes under, but rarely, and he's right there on the edge.

Often after nightmares, when the world is just too big and the dark is in him as much as around him, then he goes under the bed.

And they sit by the edge of the bed, on the floor, leaned back against the wall, and eventually Bucky comes out a little, still mostly under but part of his knees and his head and shoulders visible. Just curls towards them until his head is kind of pressed against their thigh/hip.

And he sleeps.

I'm also a fan of the idea that Bucky gives people access to his throat and belly, the inside of his wrist and his inner thighs when he's especially relaxed and feels safe.

All those vulnerable, soft areas with thin skin, and where it's easy to hurt him even without having to put much effort into it, but they never do.

494,845 - which is honestly insane

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I wrote solely for Harry Potter for a longggg time, but nowadays I just write for Merlin, Stranger Things, and the MCU

Sometimes! I have a bad habit of opening a comment and going "ohhh i should answer that" and then i promptly forget about it five seconds later so....

Either my angsty harringrove fic I wrote for Mona - we've made a graveyard out of the bone white afternoon - or my Merlin fic where I made The Darkest Hour worse :) - the weight of one man's grief

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

It's gotta be this steddie fic, I think this is one of the fluffiest things I've ever written - and in the darkness you will see the sun

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Nope! Thankfully I'm not popular enough to get hate on fics, the most annoying thing I get is people being a bit too demanding

Occasionally, but usually only for sambucky

I haven't! But i have at least one marinating that I do really really wanna write

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?

Oh god, I have this huge Stranger Things steddie fic that was originally meant to be for the big bang before i dropped out - i only have like 20k? 25k? written and my estimate was like 80k or something....god i'd love to finish it, the plot is Fantastic, but I really just don't know if I'll ever get back to it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Probably prose and uhh someone told me once I was really good at like, narrowing in on the small details, also writing grief

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

writing fluff! the struggle is real and that's mine

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?

I've done it a couple times but just for like pet names

I think I'm going to say drawing lines - it's the best character study of Gwen I've ever written and I think she deserves more character studies honestly.

-10 -> very dissuaded

0 -> don’t care either way

10 -> very enticed

nope -> if it’s a hard no and you’d never click on a fic with that tag or or you even have the tag blocked or you’d insta click out of the fic if it wasn’t tagged.

only if its silver fox steve and the age gap is not big

Codependency: 5

I like it only to an extent. If it’s too extreme then it becomes annoying as fuck. Especially if the main ship hurt other people/treat other people like they’re less important than their partner (iykyk)

I also never saw the appeal of a character who commit s*icide because their partner dies. Yall are not Romeo and Juliet calm down.

Enemies to lovers: 6

It’s not my favorite. I would only click if I like both characters equally. Also sometimes this trope can easily turns into a toxic relationship which I dislike.
