In my opinion, I've always seen a reflection between Jessica and Hobie.
[A SHORT post where I ponder about Jess and Hobie a bit]
It's so incredibly subtle - but balanced, in big and small ways.
For one, they both can be considered some of the only 'plain clothes' Spider-people.
It's ironic that Jessica is the only one who chooses to openly show her face, meanwhile in the comics - Hobie chose to actually show his face.
They both have natural hair, very strong in their standing and morals. They're willing to joke - with people they like and respect as equals - ignoring the people they don't:
Jessica jokes with Miguel, but doesn't speak to Miles directly. Hobie jokes with Miles right away, but doesn't speak to Miguel directly.
Personality wise, they have the same foundations - They're head-strong, and confident, organized, and considered leaders to the people around them - often being idolized by people they first meet (In Jess's case, Gwen - and in Hobie's, Miles).
Yet, we never really see this in action!!!
The two don't even really look at each other - I'm not even sure they like each other. They share two exchanges - one in which Jessica ignores him.
And the second, Hobies outright defiant towards her.
[gif credit to the lovely @happy-xy]
But-
They're both mentors to Gwen. Throughout the story, it's Gwen who's their focus.
They both offer her housing in one way or another-
And each time Gwen was stranded in her universe - it was either Jess or Hobie that came to her rescue.
Hobie's looking out for his drummer, Jessica with her star pupil.
So much could be said for their style of mentoring, the support they give to Gwen and how it affects her, and how it reflects truths within the Black community.
But to do that we'd have to clear up the dirt y'all be throwing on Jessica's name cause I AIN'T HAVING IT I REFUSE
And rest assured!!! Imma go to bat for the black woman IDC!!! I have the EVIDENCE!!!! If theres two characters Imma fight for it's THEMMMM (Miles is third srry Miles)
BUT ID KILLLL FOR A SCENE OF THESE TWO TALKING I WANT IT SO BAD
He's so 'I don't have to listen to you' She's so 'boy stop playing with me I'm not one of your lil friends'

Here's a question for the group! Why doesn't Rory believe Jess when he says he didn't fight Dean in 'Swan Song?'
Jess, for all his faults, has never once lied to Rory before this episode. He has shared information about his past. He has admitted to every wrongdoing she's accused him of, including a fight with Dean. He's been honest and direct with her, more than with ANYONE else.
And prior to this, Jess has always done what Rory's asked of him. He fixed things with Luke when she pointed out how provocative he was being. He sincerely tried with Lorelai after Rory emphasized how important it was to her. He kept their first kiss a secret for months despite the fact that it obviously hurt him to do so. He willingly changed their kissing patterns according to Rory's needs. He agreed to this dinner with Emily after only 60 seconds of mild protest, most of which was obviously joking.
So you've got Jess, with an established history of telling the truth and doing what Rory asks him to do... so what makes her doubt him right now? One bruise on his face undoes a full year of a friendship that was overwhelmingly defined by their ability to be honest and direct with each other?
My only guess is that everyone else - Lorelai, Luke, the entire town - finally got to her. Rory had been hearing for MONTHS what a bad guy Jess was, how he couldn't be trusted, that he was obviously 'tricking' her when she fell for him... and it finally got her. Rory, still young, still living in Stars Hollow, still VERY much trying to be the consummate 'good girl,' was finally pressured into seeing Jess the way everybody else saw him.
(Side note: when Jess later begs Rory to run away with him, emphasizing "not Stars Hollow!" .... this is why!)

"Take a break"
Jesse startles, the sudden voice next to him spooking him from his work. He settles down easily, stretching once before sinking into his chair as Lukas chuckles next to him.
“Scared you that easily? Yeah, its time to take a break.”
Lukas’s hands rest on Jesse’s arms, his hold gentle as he pulls him away from his work. Jesse leans into him in return, sighing happily.
He glances over his work, the papers scattered about his desk, the candle sitting next to him. It’s flame illuminates his dark office, curtains closed to ward off the fear of the night. Jesse lifts his quill, finishing a flourish on one last document before he signs the bottom and sets it aside.
“A break- more like time for bed, really.” Jesse slides back in his chair, pausing to let Lukas straighten up behind him.
“Radar can deal with what’s left tomorrow morning,” He turns, kissing Lukas’s cheek before he continues,”and we can take a real break, go to a cafe, or the park, or-”
“Or just stay home? In bed, talking, relaxing. Just one day, Jess, spend one day with me. Stop worrying about the town, you don’t always have to be public.” Lukas wraps his arms around Jesse’s shoulders, a soft smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “I’d like you to stay with me, one day, a real break.”
Jesse hums, soon turning quiet and content. He leans into Lukas’s embrace, thinking for a moment, before whispering his answer, ”I’d like that.”

Echo *makes a phone with his hand and holds it to his ear*: Hello? Yes I see. I understand.
Fives *raises an eyebrow*: What are you doing?
Echo *holds out the "phone" to Fives*: It's for you. The village called, they want their idiot back.
Jesse *chokes on his caf*
Fives *blink*: Hey now-
