Hehehe >:3 Chapter 3! Poor Lupin sure does feel guilty, and what’s going on with Goemon??

TW: choking, Goemon gets a bath

Hours had passed and Lupin had barely left Goemon’s side. They had managed to get him warmer, though his shivering persisted. The current issue was that it seemed like Goemon wasn’t improving too much. He had convinced Jigen to make a supplies run, promising that he and Goemon would be alright in the time he was gone. He had managed to at least get him lucid enough to drink some warm tea, which he considered a win.

“Don’t you worry, Goemon. Jigen will be back soon and we’ll get this all sorted out.” Lupin assured, taking his hand gently.

Goemon weakly pulled on his arm, gaze unfocused as he choked out inaudible nonsense in Japanese. Lupin frowned, nodding a bit even though he didn’t understand. He just had to stay by his side…he needed Goemon to pull through.

Lupin nearly jumped out of his skin when Jigen nudged the door open and stepped inside with several grocery bags. Hand on his Walther, a wave from Jigen made him relax a bit. At least it wasn’t Zenigata busting in to try to arrest them.

“He doin’ any better?” Jigen asked, putting groceries away as he glanced over his shoulder.

“..not much.” Lupin sighed, fixing the blankets around Goemon. “He managed some tea at least.”

“Better than nothin’. Books said he needed warm liquids anyhow.” Jigen walked over with a bag, handing it to Lupin.

“What’s all this?” Lupin took the bag, looking through it.

“Got some extra stuff for him. Heatin’ pad, electric blanket, thermometer, snacks. Grabbed some clothes too, I’ll wash ‘em.” Jigen peeked into the blanket pile at Goemon, frowning. “His breathin’ sounds like shit..”

“I know..” Lupin frowned. “I need to check my contacts..I don’t know if I even have any in this country.” He ran a hand through his hair.

“I can watch him for a while, go do your thing.” Jigen waved him off, going to take his chair.

“I can’t just leave him, Jigen.” Lupin frowned, looking back at Goemon anxiously.

Jigen frowned, looking the thief over quietly. He had managed to take himself away from Goemon long enough to throw on a shirt with his boxers so he wasn’t just running around in his underwear but..he obviously hadn’t left the samurais side since. He could feel the anxious energy radiating off of him. He knew Lupin enough to know that he blamed himself for what had happened to Goemon.

“Alright.” Jigen nodded, patting Lupin’s shoulder as he walked back to the kitchen to take care of what he could.

Lupin frowned, sitting quietly as he thought. He needed to make this up to Goemon. He had to figure out how all of this happened. If someone had gotten the diamond before them he would’ve known it, right? But then why was there an explosion? It just didn’t make any sense. Squeezing Goemon’s hand gently, Lupin looked out a nearby window and out at the city. Was there something he was missing?

Goemon wasn’t sure what had happened. He remembered a flash and a bang…then it got hazy. But he knew that his chest hurt, it ached, and breathing took a lot more work than it should. And the cold, oh the cold, the way it seeped down into his very soul almost. Why was he so cold?

They left you there to freeze.

Who-? No. Goemon knew that Lupin and Jigen wouldn’t leave him in that crevasse. He wasn’t sure where he was but..no. They wouldn’t leave him. He knew that for a fact.

You think they’re really your friends? When it comes down to it, they’d have left you there and you know it.

Goemon cringed. They were his friends. Of course they were…right? They had been together long enough now that..that if they weren’t he surely would’ve noticed somehow. He wasn’t that unable to pick up on their cues…

They took advantage of you. Strong Goemon, powerful Goemon. You’re more tool than man and when it came down to it? They didn’t really care if you died or not. They just couldn’t lose the swordsman. It isn’t about you. It’s about the tool.

Looking around, Goemon frowned when he saw the blue stone in front of him. Right..the diamond. He had grabbed it and then..had it exploded? Why would it-?

Why wouldn’t it? Lupin cares more about the loot than making sure it was safe for you to retrieve it.

A shadow made its way around the stone, smirking at him. It looked…just like him? But wrong. Really wrong. Anxiety rose in Goemon’s aching chest as he stepped backwards. What was it? It couldn’t be himself.

Look at you. A weak man without his almighty sword. They probably stole it-

“No-!” Goemon cried, covering his ears with his hands in an attempt to block the voice out.

They stole it and left you there-

“Be quiet!” Goemon bit his lip hard, closing his eyes tightly. How could he still hear it?!

LEFT YOU THERE TO D R O W N!

A flash, and it felt like ice was injected straight into Goemon’s veins. Crying out, Goemon choked. He couldn’t breathe. Struggling and clawing at his throat, he couldn’t get a breath in. Was he drowning? The voice was right, they forgot him and left him there to drown below the ice-!

“Shit- shit, Jigen-! Jigen!”

“Shit- shit, Jigen-! Jigen!” Lupin screamed, throwing the blankets off of Goemon quickly.

“What-?!” Jigen quickly ran into the bedroom, one hand poised over his gun in case he needed to draw.

“Help- Help me-!” Lupin sat the choking samurai up, trying to help him to breathe.

“Crap! Arms over his head!” Jigen ran over, pulling Goemon’s arms up over his head as he slammed the heel of his hand against his back roughly a few times to try help him to breathe.

After several agonizing minutes, Goemon gasped in a wheezing breath and weakly grasped at his chest as he caught his breath. The two thieves let out a sigh of relief, Lupin pulling Goemon in close as his shivering picked up again. They had nearly lost him there..

“Fuck..” Jigen ran a hand through his hair, sitting beside them. “What the hell, man?”

“I-I don’t know he was fine and then he just-“ Lupin frowned, gesturing to the samurai anxiously as he cupped his face. “He’s hot. Damnit, I thought he felt a little warm earlier.”

“Lemme see.” Jigen reached over him, feeling his forehead with the back of his hand. “Shit, yeah. Go run him a cool bath. Meds won’t work fast enough on that on their own.”

“A cool bath? But..” Lupin bit his lip. It felt almost cruel to do that to Goemon after what happened hours ago..especially since he still seemed cold.

“Lupin.” Jigen looked at him, sternly. “Cool. Bath. Now.” He had to put his foot down about it for Goemon’s own good.

Lupin hesitantly nodded, frowning as he looked back at Goemon sympathetically. Carefully getting him up as Jigen went to the kitchen, Lupin made his way toward the bathroom with Goemon. Glancing at Goemon, Lupin faltered when he noticed his eyes seemed to be sweeping the room.

“Goemon..? You there..?” Lupin frowned, waving his hand in front of his face a bit.

“Z..Z-Zantet…suken..” Goemon rasped, grip on Lupin tightening slightly as he grew visibly distraught.

“H-Hey easy, easy. It’s right here. It’s alright.” Lupin frowned, grabbing the sword from its propped up position by the bathroom door. “We made sure to grab it for you.” They knew how much he loved that sword…

Leading the delirious man into the bathroom, Lupin carefully sat him on the edge of the tub as he started the water. Watching from the corner of his eye, Lupin could tell Goemon was still pretty out of it. His hands were still clumsy from the cold so he had to resort to basically hugging Zantetsuken to keep it close to him..and it seemed the fever kept him from completely understanding where he was or what was going on.

“Goemon.” Lupin took a breath, touching his arm gently. “We need to get you in the bath okay? We have to cool you down.”

Goemon cringed, shaking his head as he tried to get his body to follow the command to stand. It broke Lupin’s heart but he had to try to get him in. Standing, Lupin helped him up and took off the boxers they had placed on him.

“L-Lupin, please- pl-please..” Goemon bit his lip anxiously, clumsily stepping backwards into the thief.

“Goemon…”

“Lu-Lupin, it’s col-cold..” Goemon frowned, closing his eyes tightly as he grabbed onto his shirt anxiously, pleading. “I-I can’t..please..w-why would yo-you..?”

Lupin bit his lip hard, wrapping his arms around him gently. Goemon thought he was just doing it for no reason.. crap. But he could feel the heat basically radiating off of him, he had to get him into that water somehow..

“I’ll get in with you, okay?” Lupin looked up at him, cupping his face gently. “You and me. It’ll be alright, We’ll be out just as soon as we get your temperature down a bit okay?”

Goemon shivered, leaning into the thief’s touch before nodding slightly. “..’Kay..”

“There we go.” Lupin smiled a bit, taking off his own shirt and boxers as he got into the tub with Goemon.

Lupin frowned when he heard Goemon gasped when his body made contact with the water, squeezing his hand as he sat beside him in the tub. Rubbing his back in an attempt to soothe him, Lupin kept glancing at the clock on the wall as if to will time to move faster.

“…’m sorry..” Goemon mumbled, body trembling as he pressed up against the thief for some minor amount of warmth he could get.

“Wha-? Goemon, you don’t have anything to apologize for.” Lupin frowned more, looking at him sadly. He should be the one apologizing…

“…dia-diamond..” Goemon shook his head, resting his head back against the wall as he teared up. “..m-mess-essed up..” he sniffled, a couple stray tears running down his face.

Lupin’s eyes widened as he hesitated. It really bugged him that much that they didn’t get the diamond? It wasn’t even Goemon’s fault, it was his! And now, even after nearly dying, Goemon was in tears trying to apologize for it. Had he really known Goemon for so long and not realized until now that he held himself in such low regard?

“Goemon, none of that was your fault. I should’ve made sure things were safer before we went after it.” Lupin squeezed his hand gently, looking up at him anxiously. “We can get a diamond any old time, Goe. We’re worried about you right now…”

“Mm-mm..” Goemon shook his head again, taking a ragged breath as his hands shook. “..m-messed up..”

Lupin bit his lip, intertwining their fingers gently. “We were really worried back there, Goe, I-“

“Lupin, is he-? Oh..am I...interrupting something or?” Jigen walked in, hesitating in the doorway when he saw them both in the tub.

“I got in to make him more comfortable. He’s not all there right now just..where’s the thermometer at?” Lupin let go of Goemon’s hand, holding it out for the thermometer.

“Here.” Jigen handed it to him, sitting at the edge of the tub. “Doin’ alright, Goemon?”

“C-Cold..” Goemon mumbled, resting his head against Lupin as he grunted when the thief managed to get the thermometer under his tongue.

“Yeah, sorry about that.” Jigen sighed. “I got a towel outta the dryer if that helps any. And meds. We should be good once he’s cooler.”

Lupin hummed, taking the thermometer once it went off. “101.5. Seems alright for now. Let’s get him out of here.”

“Right.” Jigen grabbed the towel, helping Lupin get the samurai out of the bath to avoid anyone slipping. “There we go, bud.”

Goemon groaned tiredly as the two helped him back to bed. Accepting meds and water from Jigen as Lupin dried and dressed him, the samurai flopped back on the bed weakly and pulled Zantetsuken closer to his chest once they had finished, completely exhausted.

“There we go, pal. Just get some rest. I’ll be right here.” Lupin stroked his hair from his face gently, covering him back up as his shivering died down a bit with the added warmth.

“Jeez..” Jigen sighed, pulling up a chair. “I’m surprised he didn’t try to fight you in there..”

“Nah..he just…really didn’t want to get in there. He freaked me out, Jigen. He feels bad we didn’t get that diamond.” Lupin sighed, shaking his head.

“I mean…it was a sweet diamond.” Jigen agreed, shrugging.

“Jigen-!” Lupin snapped, shooting him a glare as he bristled.

“I’m not blaming him! Just saying. If it blew up..a bit of a loss. Not that I’m not glad Goemon’s alright or anythin’.” Jigen frowned, shaking his head.

“I bet someone stole the real thing, but I’m not worried about it anymore. Goemon’s more important than messing with anything to do with Mawson’s Diamond anymore.” Lupin mumbled angrily, resting his head on his hand as he watched the samurai closely.

Jigen frowned quietly. “I don’t think Goemon’s the only one who feels bad about this..” he looked out from under his bangs at him.

“Shut it.”

“No. I’m serious.” Jigen leaned over, frowning. “If you need to talk about it-?”

“No. Just..let’s focus on making sure Goemon makes it through tonight, alright? Whatever you wanna talk about we can talk about after this.” Lupin sighed, watching the rise and fall of the samurais chest quietly.

“…whatever you say, Lu.”

some spoilers!!!!!!!! about the untranslated/later parts of the shin lupin iii manga

Goemon Prison is a chapter I really like from the stories of Sherdog’s appearance in the manga, and it’s really interesting in how we see this conversation between Goemon and Zenigata after having seen Zenigata have to put up with Lupin’s and Jigen’s antics in trying to escape from prison. It isn’t very often that the manga gives the characters a chance to just talk without many other things going on.

A detail I like is the crooked smile that Goemon forces out while “laughing” as Zenigata speaks with him.

I think Zenigata really is concerned for Goemon’s well-being here, and I’m sure he sees through this smile too. Goemon should have been locked away in the normal, high-security prison, wearing prisoner clothes like Lupin and Jigen, but Zenigata goes out of his way, and I’m sure he had to really argue his way with other officials, to make him a prison outdoors where he can still wear his kimono. 

When he first visits him, he shows pity for Goemon when he sees him attempt to use the key he stole to get out, and he visits him with the intention of just talking with him. As he looks up at the birds in the sky, he says “I’ll see you tomorrow morning.”

There is so much symbolism with birds, and you can see below a direct callback to the original manga when Goemon’s masters killed a bird in front of Goemon to show him he has to be more cold-hearted as a murderer. Goemon is beginning to realize that despite his kindness, with how he has no intent of hurting this poor bird who he lets onto his head, he’s forced to lead this immoral life his masters wanted of him, and thus the bird cries out despite his intent.

Goemon has been through so much after having been tortured by the Rat Clan and then going on a murderous rampage for the kid with Gene Rosen’s disease, and his cheerful nature is beginning to go away because he can’t help but feel sorrow, but at the same time, his kindness still lingers. It has always been a characteristic of his despite his growth between the 3 manga, and even as he silently took in the pressure of his masters after each failure to kill Lupin, he chooses only to speak up when he sees the bird be hurt (and of course after he pauses and decides to leave them for Lupin).

I think at this point he’s beginning to realize how protective Lupin and Jigen have become over him, and when he sees the empathy Zenigata shows him, he feels that he doesn’t want anyone to have to feel bad for him anymore.

This chapter starts Goemon trying to pretend being cheerful like he used to be, so he really forces this smile because he realizes that Zenigata cares about him. Goemon wants to put himself down for the sake of others, such as with all the killings he does to protect them, and so he would rather not have others feel bad for him because of this. It’s a combination of all the trauma he’s faced with his kindness that causes such a self-destructive behavior.

Another hint that this cheerfulness is fake, unlike how genuinely cheerful he used to be, is how very commonly he laughs in his speech in many of the chapters after this one, but they are never as genuine as his laughter in the first chapter. (The masked man is the real Goemon)

In the ending of Shin Lupin, Goemon finally confesses to the feelings he’s felt all along, and for the first time since the first chapter, he laughs for real.

And although his forcing of emotions was never to this degree in the past, there are still many hints of this behavior earlier on in the manga.

In Shooting Goemon, which wasn’t too long after he was tortured in Strange Bedfellows, I thought the shifting between his emotions when talking to the girl were interesting, and he “laughs” here too.

He becomes so serious from here on.

In Chasing Tail he tries to cheer up Lupin when he realizes they are both stuck with the issue of having tails. There is more “laughing” here.

In Hardened Steel, though, he’s too heartbroken to even put on a single smile for the boy, who is soon to pass away. It’s interesting how the boy is so happy throughout this chapter in contrast to Goemon, who I believe has reached his breaking point here.

But back to Goemon Prison. There is this moment where Goemon asks Zenigata why he’s following the orders of the Watson machine, which he later finds out instructed Zenigata to take advantage of how he would risk himself to save Zenigata’s life. Zenigata argues he is the one instructing the computer, but in a way, he gives an actual reason why in the ending of the chapter.

It’s out of character for Zenigata to follow the orders of someone else, a machine of all things, given how he insists on capturing Lupin himself and under his own methods, but the reason why he trusts the computer, he reveals, is because he knows that what it has predicted of Goemon’s character has been true of him all along.

“That’s the kind of guy you are... Goemon...”

Lupin coming home on day one and automatically just wanting to see the baby.

He hasn't really seen Dante since he was admitted, mostly for Dante's safety. Jigen didn't really want the baby out in the open when things were hot and even LESS after the baby was kidnapped.

So as a result, Maddie didn't really get a chance to let the baby visit him when he was still admitted. So it's been a good decent while since Lupin had actually seen the baby, let alone interacted with him, and by now Dante is at least. . .3 months old so it HAS been a while. And while Lupin really shouldn't have done it, he wanted to hold the baby when they first got to the apartment

Jigen didn't really want him too, he just wants him to relax, Maddie also doesn't feel comfortable with it. Not because she thinks Lupin is gonna accidentally hurt Dante, but because she thinks *Dante* is gonna hurt him

At 3 months, Dante isn't the same as he was when Lupin first left. He had gone from a totally dependent newborn to an active and responsive infant, he's grabby and fussy and squirmy, and because Lupin is still so stiff and bruised and in general discomfort, Maddie is worried about Dante getting too rambunctious and accidentally hurting Lupin.

Lupin however doesn't care. That baby is the only sense of normality he's gotten since he got through the door and  Lupin is actually kinda forceful with what he wants, which is surprising considering his voice still sounds like he's been gargling sandpaper for the last. . i dunno month xD

He just wants a sense of familiarity even if he can't currently remember what it is. His brain is still foggy, every neuron and atom in his body feels like it's been crushed by a steamroller. He just wants this one little thing.

So despite their better judgment, Maddie goes to get the baby, and upon first glance it's almost like Dante recognizes Lupin, which is shocking because HE hasn't seen him in a while as well, and Maddie thought Dante wouldn't recognize him.

but he seems to, and he babbles a little upon seeing Lupin and Lupin for a moment actually seems to smile, the first one Jigen has seen him make since he woke up.

Lupin's voice is still barely above a hoarse whisper, but he talks to the baby, say's hi like you would to a little baby and talks to him and then suddenly he asks Maddie if he can hold him.

Maddie looks at Jigen, and Jigen just. . .shrugs a go-ahead.

Maddie hands the baby to Lupin, and instead of just holding him against his arm, Lupin holds the baby by the shoulders with Dante's little legs pressed flat against his legs.

Something pulls in his arm and his side when he does that. Sore, poor muscles cramping at the intrusion of new movement having for months been battered, bruised, cut open, pulled apart, and put back together a multitude of times. Even Dante's minuscule weight on his thigh seems to cause him a bit of discomfort

Jigen notices the wince, the slight grimace on his face and automatically goes to get the baby back from him but Lupin gives Jigen a look and Jigen stops in his tracks. Lupin acts like nothing hurts.

He wants this, he can suffer for a few moments longer

The rest goes on without incident, Dante and Lupin spend some time together, with Lupin actually talking to him. He says little things to him, speaks French most of the time. Maddie doesn't know French but Jigen does.

It's mostly Lupin complimenting the baby- on how he's gotten so big, how it's nice to see him again and when Dante makes a grab for his face:

yeah I know. I'm a little scary to look at at the moment

When Dante starts to get fussy and squirmy, Maddie finally takes him back. But right as she does it, Dante pushes down on his legs with his feet, and Jigen see's an almost able to miss twitch in Lupin's eye.

and Lupin just keeping his hands up just a minute longer then he should have

don't think about Lupins hands still being in the air, bandaged fingers outstretched, yearningly, only for him to close them up, his fingers softly rubbing against themselves before he finally gives in and puts his hands back down

As Maddie takes the baby,  and rounds the corner to the kitchen so she can feed Dante, Jigen actually watches Lupins facial expression drop , he stops smiling, stops talking to the moment the baby is taken from him. Jigen can see he is in pain, but there's something else in the way he stares at the pair in the open floor kitchen.

Jigen asks him if he's hungry and Lupin just silently shakes his head. . still staring. . .

Jigen deliberately clicked back the hammer of his Magnum. The boy looked toward the sound, then seemed to connect it to Jigen's arm—hidden beneath the tablecloth—and blanched. His face grayed, eyes going wide all around. Since Jigen had bad-cop under control, Lupin swooped in with good-cop. “Be nice to him, Jigen,” he chided. “The poor boy was already nervous! Can't you see this is his first time blackmailing someone?” “I...” the boy swallowed hard. “I'm not?” “You are,” Lupin assured him.

Ok, I already lost this post twice while I was writing it. BUT THIRD TIME IS A CHARM. (no pun intended)

Finished watching Lupin Zero. Holy fuck what a great experience, and I'm gonna share some thoughts about the last three episodes. SPOILERS, of course. Here we go:

EP 4

Just a love note for Lupin shenanigans.

Jigen and Lupin start a fight bc Jigen don't want Lupin to put his life at risk, incredible. Shippers absolutely fucking died when they started to fight like a newly married couple.

In a more serious note, such a goofy plot with the right touch of political commentary. Just chef kiss content. I love seeing how the relationship between those 2 has grown in a short amount of time, the team behind it definitely nailed it.

EP 5

Poor baby monkey boy. He did nothing wrong. He just wanted to give the necklace to his first love and has massacreated by a grown man out of nowhere. Poor, poor baby.

I know that this ep was the beginning of the end, but I just found the passing a little weird. Idk.

AND ALSO, MY BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THE FINALE. ok, its not a problem, it's just bc it got me confused.

Who the fuck is Gaucho a reference for?

Bc, Gaucho (or at least that is how the wiki shows his name) in portuguese, specifically in Brazil, is how u call someone who is from a specific state, Rio Grande do Sul. And it made me think that maybe he was a south american. AND THEN, I entered a rabbit whole bc I started to noticed that the characters kind resembles Che Guevara, not just in personality but also in looks. And if it somehow, the team behind really is trying to reference him...good, I guess, really weird to reference a dictator, but who am I to say anything else.

EP 6

What a banger of a finale. The action was AMAZING. It made me compare it so much to part 6 action, and reafarm my hate for part 6, great:3

Lupin standing up for what he wants to become versus what his family wants for him, so cute. Little monkey is growing and becaming Big monkey man. He and Jigen, just agreaing to do shit all over the world for the sake of excitment and having fun, like...AAAAAAHHH.

HE USED THE JACKET, IT LOOKS SO BIG FOR HIM! AAHHH.

The final confict was great, Gaucho killing himself insted of letting Lupin shot him...kind of a killer move:3 (PUN INTENDED).

But when Yoko decided that she coulnd't keep on living without the first person who saved her. Heartbroken. Also, knowing that Lupin's first love killed herself for another man is such a tragic backstory for him. I kind would like to this event being referenced in other pieces of Lupin media, like how it effected his view on romantic pursue, etc. (TMS FOR FUCKING GODS SAKE, I DONT WANT A CONTINUATION, I KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN SOMEONE TRIES TO CONTINUE A LUPIN STORY, PART 6 I'M TALINK ABOUT U)

Overall, really enjoy it. Will not be watching the new content streaming on amazon bc it looks ugly as fuck, and I hope we get more passion projects like this in the future:3

Powerful couple. A SasuNaru trope

It's interesting how a lot of Boruto fans went mad on BoruSara team work, specially on Sarada since she used on today's episode the Chidori. -A jutsu she just learnt on one day. Sasuke took his damn time to learn it with the supervision of Kakashi. Tell me about non logical time training, Kawaki learn to walk on a tree on...a couple of seconds.-

First, WHEN THE FUCK did Sakura and Sasuke fought together back to back?

I can count with the fingers of one hands, the moments where they were fighting together like back to back, just the 2 of them making a complementary team, and even one of those moments is not even canon.

1-Death Forest.? - I'm extremely generous here, since Sakura doesnt fight here and that's it, they are both alone and Sasuke is the only one who fought until Naruto made his appearence.

2-Land of snow movie. In an especific cinematic they REALLY fight together just the 2 of them and it was interesting to see; unfortunately for you SS fellows this isn't even canon so.

3.-Sarada Gaiden.

So, where is the powerful-couple-troupe here? One of the moments was one sided since she didnt do anything. The other is not even canon -also if you take this a point for your ship, I MUST bring up Bonds movie then.- And in the other one, yes they fought together for once.

YOU KNOW WHICH PAIR OF NINJAS IS A EXTREMELY POWERFUL COUPLE? If you take this trope as a symbol of Love and synchronization.

This just shows the AMAZING level of communication this both have, synchronization as its finest and purest. Because they know each other's heart.

I saw this trope in a lot of videogames, and in my opinion this is the most amazing and heartwarming one. Two powerful people , who know perfectly each other and are equally powerful decide to complement their powers and poor that villain whose will is to fight them.

Shin Lupin III Chapters 172-174

Drifting Chronicles 1-3

The gang is drifting away in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean after having just been in Yap Land, and it seems rather hopeless. It’s Lupin’s fault they got stranded, and nobody wants to talk. Lupin finally breaks the silence and yells how he wish they would just take it out on him instead keeping quiet.

Jigen starts thinking Lupin must be scheming to kill them all, and Lupin ain’t having it.

Goemon yells he’s hungry, so Lupin agrees to be the bait to make up for what he did.

Then, something catches Lupin, but Jigen didn’t pull him back in time! The rope with Lupin broke and now he’s missing.

Goemon is freaking out now, but all they can do is wait.

Luckily, Goemon spots the shark.

Lupin just so happened to have a steel tube under his clothes so that’s good I guess. That prevented him from being digested. Lupin is enjoying his meal, but Goemon seems rather upset.

Who knows what’s making him feel this way. It is hinting something about Goemon’s feelings, however.

Anyways, a new person approaches them, on a raft like theirs, and he decides to join his raft with them.

It’s the chief of Yap Land.

He decides to make a border so he can count his side of the raft as part of Yap Land, and he brings with him a bag full of women?

Lupin, thinking this whole border thing is kinda bullshit, approaches it and gets shot at.

He blocks most of the shots.

Goemon says they’re brave for fighting with Lupin. He notices Lupin isn’t dead, he was just put to asleep. They were just trying to give a little scare.

It’s time for Jigen to approach.

right now this seems like another lupin story where everyone takes turns approaching (and fails)

Goemon says it seems he is alone now. Jigen is confused by what he means.

It appears they shot spiders too. Goemon complements them for their skill, and decides to leave them be.

That is, until the strong waves push Lupin over.

“Good grief.” They’ve taken Lupin hostage, and now it’s time for Goemon to approach.

While the women are tying up Lupin, Goemon asks the Chief what’s wrong. He says Lupin tried to cross the border again, and so he doesn’t know what he will do with him. He will have to wait for his trial.

Goemon laughs and says it’s interesting. He’s tired of this whole situation, so let’s have the trial!

Lupin awakens and is so confused.

He’s like, why are you just talking Goemon!? Do something! Goemon’s got his own idea. The Chief questions Lupin, and he yells it wasn’t his fault he ended up on the other side, he was knocked out afterall.

Well, the Chief seems to understand.

The Chief yells that the court will now decide what to do, and he asks Goemon to leave while they think.

They decide they will let Lupin go under one condition, he must return what he stole from Yap Land. Lupin claims he didn’t steal anything, but he can’t keep the treasure a secret for long.

Goemon stops it from sliding over just in time by throwing Ryusei, but the covering breaks and reveals the jewels of Yap Land.

It seems, however, that Lupin finally understands Goemon’s plan.

Lupin and Goemon tell him they can keep both Lupin and the jewels. Lupin says he likes the company of the women, and hopes they will keep him safe. Goemon says he will be very safe.

what could they be plotting...

Well, well, well, look who it is. Of course Zenigata has to show up.

He takes a big leap over, but he can’t take in Lupin, however, because he is stuck past the border.

Goemon reveals he actually saw Zenigata approaching long ago. Maybe Lupin started cooperating because he saw him too.

The Chief argues that Yap Land does not have to go by international law of surrendering Lupin, and that he gave himself up along with the jewels, but with some arguing, Zenigata convinces him that Lupin is up to something, and that it is safer to just give him over.

things don’t seem to be looking great

Suddenly, noises come from the tent. It’s Fujiko!

She repaired the engine for their raft. Fujiko can engineer!?

See ya, Zenigata!

I think even with its sudden ending, it's got a funny plot that builds on Goemon’s character. It’s not shown but I kinda assume Goemon split the raft apart by cutting it. I really do love how MP gives Goemon just as much attention as he gives to Lupin towards the ending arcs.

Maybe I’ll cover another arc sometime, but I picked this one since it was significantly shorter than the other ones (this was 3 chapters long in comparison to the other ones that are around 10 chapters long each). I’d do an actual translation, but with how this is my favorite manga, I’m kind of nervous I may butcher some lines. I’m practicing with an easier work right now so maybe I’ll give it a shot sometime. In the meantime, I hope this was at least enjoyable to read.

Valentine’s Day with the Lupin Gang (Including Pops)

Hey guys, this is my first every headcanon and I am so excited! Before we start, I would like to warn you that English is my second language, if I do a spelling mistake then I am very sorry >.<  If I ever  interpret a character wrong please do let me know! Let’s start!

LUPIN THE III

He will go all in for this, it’s a special day after all! And he is a romantic so this day is for him and his S/O.

Will do everything to have the day or at least the evening free for his S/O.

The gang will tease him about it and make jokes:

“Hey Lupin didn't we plan a heist to-” “ARE YOU NUTS?!”

He will surprise you very formally… Just kidding he will enter by your window.

Would give you beautiful flowers as a starter gift.

Would give you expensive gifts.

Or a stolen thing from his adventures.

He doesn’t seem like it but he is very attentive and will know what to offer you to this special day

 Would keep you close to him at all times by holding your hand or holding your waist. 

Would invite you to the best restaurant in your city. 

It would be a feast! 

Would hold your hand and rub his thumb on your fingers while you talk.

Would sigh passionately while he listen to you talk about your day.

By the time you guys finished dessert, Zenigata would probably rock up to catch Lupin and ruin things.

Lupin holds you bride style and runs away to your place while you both laughs.

Lupin does feel bad about it but try not to show it and still stays flirty at all times. 

Once at home, He offers you his valentine gift and enjoy watching your beautiful face and catching every second of this moment that he will keep in his memory.

Even if he wanted things to go better, he still satisfied of the day. 

Once in bed, you both talk and enjoys each other company. 

You both face each other and the atmosphere is calm and loving.

He puts his hand around your cheek and rubs in as he smiles at you. 

You both give each other some small and cute kisses while letting go of some few chuckles.

You both fall asleep holding each other and enjoying the presents of his body next you yours.

FUJIKO MINE

Valentine’s Day is a day you both enjoy.

She knows that it’s a nice day so she will try her best to be free. 

This time you organize it and she was surprised even touched.

You had prepared some flowers and some chocolate, some cliché stuff but she loved the thought.

Will give you some kisses here and there while you finish cooking dinner for both of you.

After that you set the table and have a private table on your balcony. 

She watches you with loving eyes as she sips the fine wine you bought early this evening.

After a beautiful homemade dinner, you both sit down on the couch and you reach for her gift.

She is stunned, she didn't expect a gift.

But she did have time to steal or buy something for you

Would probably be so nice clothes or jewelry 

She wants you to look the best and to be confident

Once you both enjoy some wine and talked, she drags you out and tells you she wants to show you place. 

You both walk to her favorite place in town, trying not to be suspicious. 

Once you had smells some fresh air you both come back to home.

A lovely night it was and you both don't want it to end.

In bed she gives you a massage as a thank you for the lovely night. 

The Queen has the hands of a Goddess and you needed it.

She lays next to you as she runs her fingers on your back.

She would smooth talk to you, telling you sweet stuff and how much she appreciate you, that you are the brightest diamond she ever saw.

You both fall asleep holding hands and facing each other.

JIGEN DAISUKE

This man would surprise you in a sweet way

You hadn't checked the date. you were just tired of your day and wanted to go home, even planning on taking take away.

When you enter your home it smelled like someone was cooking something heavenly with a mix of cigarettes. 

You walked to the kitchen to find Jigen, dressed up to the nines (Like he usually is) 

You would hug him and be so happy that he was here. 

Would continue cooking while you talk about your day and would sometime hold your hand when it was free.

Once dinner was ready, you helped him set up the table and you both enjoy a beautiful dinner. 

He would talk about his adventure, shooting some puns here and there and of course you would laugh at them.

He would have bought some Bourbon for you to both enjoy after dinner.

After dinner he would sat you down on the couch and go to one of the room of your home.

Would give you a simple gift but there will always be an element of complexity, almost like a poem.

His gifts are significant to both you and him. 

After you open his gift, he would shower you with kisses

You would stay close to him as he talks about the gang and his misadventures. 

Holds your waist while your head is on his shoulder so he can give you forehead kisses 

You both would relax and drink the Bourbon he bought while watching a movie or a tv show. 

In bed you both relax, you head his lying on his peck as his hands are around you.

You both fall asleep enjoy each other company, even if you both knew it wouldn't last for long.

ISHIKAWA GOEMON 

Oh poor baby he will try. 

FEELINGS ARE SCARY OKAY?!?

He knows its a special day and it will try everything to make you happy.

In Japan, the girls give the cliché romantic, valentine gifts but he knows its not the same in Western countries.

Would ask the gang what is Valentine day and all the details

Would give you so sweet gifts

Or sentimental gifts

He is very attentive even more than Lupin, he wants things to be perfect.

Would try not to ridicule himself by stuttering or being flustered. 

When you enter he would bow and stand here nervously with some flower hidden behind his back.

Would try to give them to you but instead the flowers are 2cm away from your face.

Its a technique to hide his face from your view. 

After you both talk a bit, he start to relax a bit more.

You both sat down on the couch and talks to you about his adventure and how you helped him in tough times

“Every time I was lost or unsure, you always came to my mind to clear the clouds.”

Of course immediately after that he his face shows a shade of pink on his cheeks.

He will blush a lot during this special night

You both have a nice dinner and discuss.

You mostly did all the talking as he is listening to every detail.

In bed you both lay down down next to each other, feeling each others skin and heat.

It was a precious moment for both of you and he will always keep in in his mind for when he needs you.

He loves to give you forehead kisses. 

You retreat your head on his shoulder and you both fall asleep.

INSPECTOR KOICHI ZENIGATA 

Lovely dovely Zenigata <3

You would surprise him.

The poor man work relentlessly to catch Lupin, this is an opportunity for you to show how much you appreciate him. 

You had everything ready, from the nice dinner awaiting for him to a nice present, nothing special but it was still something.

He came home late, like usual. 

Well actually, a few minutes later than usual you might add.

You heard him come home and you turned around.

The man was exhausted, you could see he was running everywhere again.

He excused himself for being late while hiding something behind his back.

You walked to him, ready to hug him hello before you reveals some nice flowers he bought.

“I was late today because it was impossible to find some flowers.” 

“I might've used a bit of my police power to get those...” 

He said kind of guilty.

You couldn't have asked for more and hugged him.

You put the flowers in a vase and set up the table for dinner.

While eating, he talked about his day and vice versa. 

He gives you some smiles, laughs and loving eyes even if was tired of his day.

After dinner, he helps wash everything with some few laughs.

You opened the balcony and both sat down on the couch to relax after a delightful dinner.

Zenigata enjoys a smoke by your side as you both talk.

While talking, will say some comments like:

“I missed you”

“You have been on my mind all day.”

“I’m so glad I am home”

You finally give him your gift and he loves it!

It’s cute and perfect, he will definitely cherish this.

In bed you both snuggle together.

You both at each other in the eyes.

He want this moment to never end but he knows he will have to go back to work, he knows that he might not see you for days, even weeks..

But that doesn't stop him for enjoying this moment as much as possible.

You both happily fall asleep in spoon position.

Childhood AU/headcanon: musical edition.

Lupin was the classical kid. He learned piano and/or violin to appease his family. After all, violin cases are a great way to smuggle out stolen goods. There are a few safehouses that have pianos, he mostly plays for fun or to relax.

Jigen played trumpet as a kid. He wasn't the best, but he could play a few songs. Gave it up around the same time he dropped out of school.

One night, Lupin and co. are trying to steal some music-related thing (maybe a Stradivarius?) and Jigen picks up a trumpet, plays a few notes, and is like "huh, I still got it." Lupin and Goemon are too surprised to remind him they are thieves and thieves need to be quiet.

He receives a trumpet for Christmas.

Goemon plays flute, but he also has a nice singing voice. Lupin and Jigen have plans to get him inebriated enough to agree to do karaoke.

Fujiko was a choir kid, and then probably joined the school theater club. She picked up guitar at some point.

Lupin: What time is it?

Jigen: I don’t know; pass me that trumpet and we’ll find out

Jigen: *Plays trumpet loudly and extremely out of tune*

Zenigata: WHO THE FUCK IS PLAYING THE TRUMPET AT TWO IN THE MORNING

Jigen: It’s 2 am

I really like the idea of them all playing an instrument! Although, I'm not sure where Jigen would have learned to play the trumpet, especially considering how poor his family probably was. But the idea of his banging out the tunes on a whole-ass trumpet in the middle of a heist is too funny to resist. (also the Christmas gift <3)

Lupin playing the violin or the piano totally fits the "rich kid with overbearing parents" stereotype he might have grown up in. Also a great way to woo the ladies by serenading them. Sometimes, Jigen or Goemon will wake up in the middle of the night, and wander sleeplessly through the hideout, and they'll hear Lupin quietly playing on the piano in a distant room.

(btw, Yasuo Yamada can sing, and he sings really well. There's actually a whole Lupin-themed album by Yuji Ohno where he sings. Give a listen to "Memory of smile", it's really good!)

What about Jigen playing the guitar? Maybe he learned it from an old neighbor in NYC who taught him the ropes (haha). He wasn't great at it, but he persevered enough to be able to play a few songs decently. Later in life, he sometimes brings out the guitar during long stakeouts or when the Gang is holed up in a hideout. He also has a great singing voice, despite the cigarettes, and it makes Lupin absolutely weak at the knees. (Goemon too, but he would rather die than admit it)

Love the idea of Goemon playing the flute, may I add that in canon (specifically in First Contact) he is shown playing his own theme music on a sakuhachi (Japanese flute).

I really want to see him sing karaoke. OMG MAKE HIM SING "SHIROYAMA" BY SABBATON

Also concerning canon music stuff, Fujiko can apparently play jazz on the piano (and I'm pretty sure there's a version of Love Squall sung by Fujiko's voice actress, but I can't find it rn). Her being in a choir totally fits, of course she knows how to sing. Idk about her playing guitar, it doesn't really fit her "femme fatale" persona, but it could be nice ^^

This is my Jigoe bible episode and no one's gonna take it away from me

Same as above, Jigen and Goemon being married couple TM

3. Cruisin in drag (Part 2)

Ok I just loved the fact that Onabes loved Lupin (in drag) and he didn't care that Lupin is guy. His love for Lupin was unconditional and what's not to love more than unconditional love? haha And I also love the fact that Lupin relented and married the guy (and still is). "Fujiko, please. This is the most important moment in a girl's lifetime". Also, Jigen's "What do you mean it's not Fujiko!? IT'S ONABES!? ARE YOU INSANE!? HE'S A GUY, LUPIN, AND YOU ARE GUY! AND IF YOU WERE THAT KIND OF GUY, WELL YOU COULDA FRIGGIN TOLD SOMEBODY! THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS!!!" *angrily smacks down the phone GOLD (btw Goemon was also in the same room. I wonder what they were doing together....)

4. The Extravagance of Ishikawa Goemon the Thirteenth (Part 5)

Everything. From Goemon making friends with nerds and cosplayers, getting robbed by friendly B&B (haha), his interactions with Chloe, Bruno and Jean (so wholesome), Goemon just straight up pressing a button which shoots a missile towards Lupin. And then we have sleepy Goemon, angry Goemon, tricked again Goemon. Lots of Goemon.

5. The combat Magnum Scattered in the Wasteland (Part 2)

I guess there is no need to explain how awesome Jigen was in this episode too. The thing I can’t get over is how Goemon, who usually let people be, kept butting in between Jigen and Stoneman and constantly worrying about his friend. He was such a bae <3 

6. Goemon’s close call (part2) 

Lots to unpack here. First of all, Goemon singing young man!? Hello!? May I ask why that specific song choice?????? I swear production team just loves sprinkling all the innuendos don’t they (not that I’m complaining haha). And our trusted friend Jigen sensing something is wrong and being worried about Goemon’s disappearance. And he knew that Fundoshi was Goemon’s favourite (how did he know? I wonder....) (I also wonder why did they leave his Fundoshi? I mean if you are gonna make him dress, might as well let him wear his underwear as well right? they even let Goemon wrap his sarashi all around his abdomen. Did they want to embarass Goemon by removing his undies? Did they simply forget his undies? I wouldn’t....I’m confused) 

That torture scene!!!!! omg pooor Goemon!!!! They went HAM! And Goemon was loyal to a fault, he didn’t spill anything about Lupin. I’m crying. My poor man didn’t deserve any of that. I’m almost mad for Lupin for being so carefree in that bathtub scene (of course he made it up by saving Goemon in the end). And he still managed to 1v1 Wolf after all that torture. That man is not human.

Overall It was a baeutiful episode though, depicting Goemon’s loyalty and Lupin’s appreciation for his friend. And Goemon could have died if Jigen didn’t notice his disappearnce. It was a great episode showing their friendship. Really beatiful. How could it not be my fav episode?

7. With a Gun in My Hand (Part 4)

Jigen is just op in this episode. It's nice to see that even without his gun, he's still a dangerous man. A guy who you should never fuck with

8.  Just Then, An Old Buddy Said Something (Part 5)

I have a very conflicting feelings about Goemon being insecure and doubting their friendship (especially when you have episode like Goemon’s close call) in the previous episode but it was worth to see Goemon and Lupin having their moment in that transport van. It was very Lupin to understand that whatever he is going to say is not going to be trusted but he still wanted to comfort Goemon so he tried to make him laugh instead. It was very Lupin’s way to reassure their friendship. 

Another thing I love about this episode is Jigen. Damn that man looks so hot when he goes crazy with his guns. Well done on Albert for providing all that firearms to him. I’m just happy to see Jigen looking so liberated when he’s firing all these shots. I don’t care he was massacring all of them, just give the man his guns. He’s just too hot. (It was a very close tie between the Mirage episode and this but this episode had tender moment between Lupin and Goemon so. Also I really hate the fact that the official keeps insinuating that Jigen has kids all over the world by bringing a mum and a daughter into the picture and Jigen showing extra kindness to them. I swear if they bring another mum and daughter with Jigen episode i’m gonna go mad).  We also got some nice tribute to the Castle of Cagliostro ;)

9. Zenigata Getcha into my life (part 2)

This was one of the sweetest episode of Zenigata. Man he was so sweet about Laura and how he didn’t hesitate abut asking help from Lupin. And Lupin didn’t mind helping out the old pop. It was so sweet, which made it extra bittersweet about how the episode ended... 

10. Final episode of the woman called Fujiko Mine

I didn’t particularly understand the ending or liked it but damn the fight between Jigen and Goemon was great. A shame Goemon had to be in Fujiko’s drag but they sure gave us an awesome fight to watch. Jigen doing his cool skill shot and Goemon reading all the bullet trajectory. Would be great to have another scence like that in the future episode.
