Dazai canonically rambling about his loved ones at every possible opportunity is so dear to me.

Mori knew a lot of the things he did about Oda because Dazai told him. Akutagawa also knew about Oda and how important he is to Dazai because of Dazai's ramblings. Random, unnamed PM members know about Oda being very dear to Dazai, because Dazai praises him and talks about how great he is.

Chuuya knew straight away that Dazai had been speaking about him to the ADA. It wasn't something he expressed feeling betrayed or suprised about. It was just an immediate understanding that of all the ways they could probably have known about him and his ability despite it being confidential information in the PM, Dazai's ramblings were most likely the reason.

The way that Dazai speaks about Ranpo to quite literally anyone who will listen. To Fydor, to random cops, to Atsushi.

Dazai canonically brags about the people he cares about in an 'omg omg omg my person my people I love them look how amazing they are' way.

Dazai doesnt belong in the pm. he never did. heres why

in the pm, dazai calls chuuya his "dog". akutagawa is referred to as "the rabid dog of the port mafia". when we first meet akutagawa, he calls higuchi "a useless cur" (cur means an agressive dog or one in poor condition). we can see that the port mafia is full of dogs.

in The Day I Picked Up Dazai, oda refers to seeing dazai as a stray cat (i think). almost every headcanon associates dazai with being a black or stray (or both) cat.

and then we have the ada.

one of their employees litterly turns into a tiger. the president is obsessed with cats.

in the pm, dazai was a stray cat in a den of dogs. thats why he fits in/cares about the ada. he fits there, feels at home.

this wasn’t supposed to be something emotional on his part, but your last comment tipped him over the edge.

he abuses, extorts, tortures, and kills those around him, he was used to doing that, but when he slapped you ?

he sucked in a breath as his uncovered eye slightly widened when he realizes that your relationship can’t turn back from this.

you don’t cry, you refuse to but your eyes instantly water at the tingling sensation as your hand goes up to your face.

he lowers his hand to his side as he clenches it into a tight fist. he tells himself in his mind that his intentions did work, you did shut up after he slapped you.

that’s what he wanted, right ? for you to stop spouting out shit about him just because he hurt someone you cared for.

what he didn’t want was how repulsed you looked. he could deal with it if you were mad at him, anger is easy to manipulate.

but this wasn’t anger, this was full on hate. to think that just a few weeks ago, you were giving him kisses on his face as your fingers scratch at his scalp.

but now, weeks after the incident, you lightly flinch when he grabs you suddenly, he can’t even properly hug you anymore.

it angers him, because it’s his own fault but he can’t help but keep blaming you, if only you just shut up when he told you to.

and you did shut up, you stopped talking to him, even when he brought you home luxurious gifts everyday.

all of the progress he had worked up for, had gone to waste because of a single action, but it’s not your problem, because you won’t forgive him.
