Nihilism and the concept of life being meaningless is a mindset that has entrapped me for a long time. I’ve seen it in a lot of younger people, especially in those like myself who suffer from mental disorders. When I was experiencing suicidal thoughts, I would use “life is meaningless and nothing matters” as fuel for my fire. I’d like to challenge these statements by both agreeing and adding onto them. yes. life is essentially meaningless. we live, we die, we are remembered for possibly a few generations, and we are eventually forgotten. however, as an addition to the “nothing matters” statement, I present “nothing matters forever”. the hug you gave your little sister won’t matter when you’ve both been forgotten. but it matters now because you saved your sisters life and she’d been contemplating suicide that night. she went on to smile at a stranger in the grocery store, and that smile made them believe in humanity again. that strangers regained hope led them to start a non-profit that helped thousands of people. what I’m trying to say is that we cannot be remembered forever, but we can do tiny acts of good that ripple out into other generations. nothing we do matters in the end, but right now, while we’re still alive, everything we do matters. positive nihilism is the way to go.

Why I don't believe that the existence (in themselves) of illness, chronic pain, or disability, makes the world "Unjust"
The following is the meat of a reply I made on this post -- that came up when I was searching for something else; but I think it stands on its own, and bears repeating
To me, "justice" is an aspect of social interaction -- with an emphasis on action -- how we treat each other (including how we treat the world on which we, and other living things, depend).
That includes reciprocity: a sharing of wealth with those who have shared with us. This gets abstracted into "earning rewards" (just rewards) and also, in the negative, "earned retribution." If we become disabled or ill without having done anything to "Deserve" it, it can feel unjust. But that doesn't mean it is. Because not everything that happens to us (for good or ill) is earned. In fact, most things just happen at random.
The injustice that so often accompanies chronic pain, illness, and disability, stems from how disabled and ill people are treated in society, and are habitually shamed for requiring their needs to be met in different ways, instead of being treated with kindness and dignity.
The thing is, though: those at the top of the social hierarchy claim that all manner of social norms are "Facts of Life," instead of deliberate choices we make (and can therefore change).
Conveniently for them, they're always on the beneficial side of these norms.

anyone else having existential crisis’ but like in a ‘hurts so good’ way? like, the fact that we are all inhabited by souls and just walking flesh bags with some electricity in our brains and yet by sheer fucking chance this planet exists and we have the ability to love and to forgive and to hate and to create and to sing and experience regret and embarrassment and pain and we never truly understand anybody but we all crave being understood? The sweet poetry of it all?
god, it’s so beautiful. I can’t wrap my mind around it but I probably wasn’t designed to. What a gorgeous life. What a big world. Fuck.

Some ramblings I came up with while thinking about the best faction in D&D’s Planescape: The Bleak Cabal!
If nothing holds meaning, then pain serves no purpose. It doesn’t teach, it doesn’t punish, it doesn’t spur growth or change or redemption. It’s just pain. It just hurts. With no reason to, it just hurts…
So why not try to soothe them? why would you want people to hurt?

So in addition to Kazama Frylock Kiryu, I've also started this in progress masterpiece. I haven't spent very long on this one yet, but I'm recording my drawing of it and turning it into a time lapse video for funsies

“Life is meaningless” but in the same way that Minecraft doesn’t have any actual set-in-stone goals to work towards. You just make your own. Like some people wanna fight the ender dragon and others wanna make the prettiest flower garden ever. Both are just as valid ways to play the game.

If you’re going to be a nihilist, you might as well be a positive one
If nothing matters and nothing you do will change anything, do you really want to spend your time giving up and wallowing in misery?
Or would you rather have ice cream for breakfast, wear silly and impractical clothes that make you feel beautiful, and coax every second’s meaning possible out of your brief span of existence?
We are bubbles in the stream of universal consciousness
And every one of us can refract a beautiful rainbow of colour

Today's thought, there is no meaning to anything, meaning your failures have no impact. Don't find hatred in your failures but joy in your successes, just because our existence is pointless doesn't mean our lives don't matter to each other. You are loved, even if the universe itself doesn't love you, someone in it does. I hope you can learn to love yourself as well
