I love the bit in Regency literature where men have to give a little powerpoint presentation-style lecture about why they think the marriage is a good idea with multiple points and supporting evidence

I love that in botw and totk there are various ways different ingredients achieve the same magic boost, for example to get a durability boost you might roast up an armored carp, the way this is explained to enhance your defense is that the calcium deposits in it's scales fortify your bones. If you choose to cook an ironshell crab for the same defense boost, it instead mentions that the meat 'bolsters the body', implying that it hardens the muscles and skin rather than the bones. But that could just be my interpretation.

What wouldn't be just my interpretation would be some of the other ones. Sneaky river snails enhance your senses to assist moving silently, and consuming a stealthfin trout increases concentration to help you suppress noise.

Razorshrooms 'raise your competitive spirit' to increase strength while eating a mighty carp uses a compound in its liver to increase muscle growth.

Sticky frogs excrete a substance that can be used to cling to wet surfaces while sticky lizards have suction toes to do the same thing.

Swift carrots increase movement speed by 'strengthening the legs and hips' while no other description is as specific and are generally just attached to a critter that can be fast or a mushroom that has been compared to drugs in botw.

I just think it's fascinating that the same general result can be created in several different ways, maybe a defense elixir can toughen the skin but not the bones but another defense elixir can strengthen the bones but not the skin or muscles. Maybe some people prefer potions with certain effects even though they're used for the same reason. I think this magic system could be made to be so complex and interesting and I need to expand upon it so badly.

I’ve been seeing some pretty atrocious powerpoints in my grad program lately, both from teachers and students. I’m not talking about like aesthetics I’m talking about the basics: Only having small amounts of text on slides (key points) and including relevant images or other graphics to help with attention.

I can remember being taught how to make powerpoint presentations on at least three different occasions from elementary school to college. Like specifically being taught how to design slides and what sorts of information to include and all that stuff.

So I’m curious

there’s something in their vibes that just is similar, I can’t name it, I can’t even begin to put it into words but they inspire the same feeling within me 😭. and this is like the first time ever there’s some sort of actual connection in any way (don’t mean this in a shippy sense at all). im so intrigued to see the implications (if any) of this + know the thought process behind carlos being voted in as a director by the other drivers.
