Prisoners’ Justice Day is coming up on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. As usual, the Prison Radio collective at CFRC 101.9 FM - Queen’s University Radio will be taking over the airwaves at 101.9 FM and CJAI 92.1 FM on Amherst Island (near Millhaven Institution) from 4-10PM to talk about the day and to honour and remember those we have lost inside Canadian prisons and jails since the first PJD in 1975.
Along with our special content, we’ll be playing song requests and messages of love and solidarity from friends and supporters going out to local prisoners, many of whom will be fasting and refusing work to mark PJD.
Our signal reaches Collins Bay Penitentiary, Joyceville Institution, Millhaven Institution, Bath Institution, the Quinte Detention Centre and across Lake Ontario to the prison in Cape Vincent, New York.
Send a message or song request by writing to:

The second Alastor uttered “jambalaya” in the pilot I knew he was totally and royally forever fucked he will never be mentioned eating another thing (other than people but I digress.) if he is cooking food in a fic it will be no dish other than jambalaya and if the author is feeling particularly edgy or brave than it might be gumbo or another creole dish. Sure he will always smell like blood but also rice and onion and shrimp ffs the chain holding him to Lilith (probably) might as well be made of sausage there is no god in hazbin hotel only jambalaya
Oh, don't mind me! I'm just gonna list down all of the ancient rules the Apeirons should follow. This was recorded by Ms. Radio, so if you're having trouble remembering, I can give you a help!
Abstain from beans.
Do not pick up what has fallen.
Touch not a white rooster.
Do not poke the fire with swords.
Do not jump over a crossbar.
Do not cut wood on a main road.
Do not enter the hall in new garments. Enter the hall from the right and leave from the left.
Do not keep swallows around your house.
Do not sleep on a grave.
Make the bed as soon as you wake up, leaving no imprint of your body.
I never been taught or researched much about Pythagoreanism, so if anyone knows history, leave a comment on what these rules are referenced!
group work is Not It. I should have known better than to enroll in an engagement course that involves planning workshops with a group of other students……. guess who is doing all the work! :^) Back in tha day my teachers called me a ‘natural leader’… fun fact!!!! I am actually not! I do not like being in charge! it is actually just that people take advantage of me! Hope this helps
Some interviews I did a few years ago for CFRC 101.9 FM Prison Radio that I was just reminded off and thought I should share.
The first is with Zahra Fahran, a transgender prisoner who was just paroled after serving almost 20 years behind bars. She talks about the experience of transitioning inside, being sent to a women's prison, and finally living outside of a cell.
The second interview is with Linda Mussell, Queen's Department of Political Studies, discussing her research, and the power of media images and prison tourism to shape public understanding of people behind bars.
Originally broadcast October 16, 2019, at 7:00pm EST.
In the aftermath of our previous episodes, we close out Season 10 with the catharsis of building a hunter’s pyre, finishing off the Stynes, killing Death, one of the most intimate fight scenes of all time, and more. We’re definitely normal about pathetic men covered in blood. 🗡️
