Recording
Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8
Warnings: captivity, restraints, torture, blood, video recording, forced to watch
The team looked on in horror as Kyle clicked the link that had come from an anonymous email. James was on the screen. He were tied to a chair and covered in blood, his head hanging low.
Dexter stalked on screen and fisted James’ hair, lifting his head so he could stare directly into the camera. One of James’ eyes was swollen shut. He had a freely bleeding cut on one cheek and above his eyebrow. Blood had dried beneath his nostrils and on his lips.
Lily gasped as they took in James’ wounds. Max’s jaw clenched. “Is this live?”
“I think so,” Kyle replied, eyes never leaving the screen.
“Go on, say it, like we agreed,” Dexter said as he bowed James’ head back further.
James’ chest was heaving and his body tensed with the movement. “It.” James chuckled darkly as Dexter’s face controted with rage.
With a roar, Dexter punched James in the face twice, drawing more blood from James’ bleeding nose. “THAT IS NOT FUNNY! TELL YOUR TEAM TO COME FIND YOU! TELL THEM!”
James’ eyes dropped as he looked directly in the camera. “Whatever you do, team, don’t come for me.”
Dexter screeched with rage, but James kept going. “Forget about me. Leave me. It’s ok. I--” his words were cut off suddenly as Dexter began to attack him.
“Can’t we trace this?” Lily whispered as she watched Dexter beat James mercilessly.
Before Kyle could reply, the camera panned away from the scene and onto a new person. Whoever had been holding the camera had flipped it. “You better come quick,” he whispered, “Dexter doesn’t take well to being defied. Come get your friend.” And the screen went black.

Living Weapon Whumpee having a bad day after one of the missions and finding the team they're assigned to sitting around and playing cards. Whumpee getting down on their knees next to one of the team members and hesitantly resting their head against the team member's thigh. Whumpee silently begging to be pet like a dog or at least just allowed to say here because they just haven't positive, non-painful human contact in years and they're just... cold.
Bonus points if they choose the member of the team that hates them the worst because that's the one they feel the biggest need to please.

Danny gets summoned and is expecting to find a cult demanding favors on the other side. Instead he sees 7 babies all dressed in cute costumes. There's what appears to be the head cultists unconscious besides them. There's some weird device in his hands but Danny is too focused on the babies. Thinking that the cultists had planned on sacrificing the babies and not knowing what else to do, Danny takes the babies with him.
The heroes are freaking out. Their 7 main JLA members including Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman have all disappeared. There is no trace of them at their last known location. Did they get trapped in a prison dimension? Flung halfway across the galaxy? Killed!? No one knows. What they do know, is that they can't let the rest of the world find out.

oh but android whumpees though. rough maintenance, conflicting orders, the difference between feeling and programming. is it grief or did you fail your mission? is it pain or have you malfunctioned? error codes across your vision. system diagnostics on the exact amount of danger you're in. commands and disobedience and ownership and devotion and the thick substance that's not quite blood on synthetic, torn, inhuman skin. robot whumpees.

Hear me out (again).
Superhero whump, where VIllian’s power is to hurt people with touch.
So, basically, Villian can torture Hero for hours without having to stop because they aren’t hurting Hero’s physical body (if that makes sense?)
(And what if, since it doesn’t leave scars nobody believes Hero later?)
DUDE YES. YESYES YES. there is so much angst and suffering
At first, Hero didn’t understand why Villain wore gloves. Then Villain traced the tip of their finger over Hero’s jaw, and it made sense.
If someone had shoved a cattle prod under their skin, it would have hurt less. The pain was electric, and throbbed through their entire body— pounding behind their eyes—sinking deeper than any physical blow.
Hero didn’t realize they were shaking until Villain laughed softly. “Why, I’ve only touched you.”
Villain wrapped a hand around Hero’s wrist, watching as they jerked back against their restraints, back arching in a silent scream. “I thought you were tougher than that,” said Villain and took hold of Hero’s other wrist. This time, Hero cried out— the sound more animal than human.
The torture session lasted six hours. After, Villain pulled out a handheld mirror. Hero didn’t know what they expected to see but…they looked the same. Like the past six hours never happened.
The second session lasted seven hours. After the fifth, Hero stopped screaming because their voice no longer worked.
“It’s not like you have information I want,” Villain told them. “This is just fun.”
When Hero’s teammates find them, they expect Hero to be battered, beaten, unrecognizable. Sure, Hero was chained to a table, but they looked fine. They had deep purple bags under their eyes and looked terrified, but other than that? they looked fine.
“You couldn’t manage to get of here on your own?”
They undo Hero’s restraints but make no other effort to help them.
Later, no one notices how Hero flinches from touch.
Hero doesn’t allow anyone to place a hand on them. Ever. Everyone assumes Hero is simply paranoid. But when it continues, the team grows tired.
“You’re fine. Villain didn’t even hurt you.”
“You really expect us to believe you got hurt in there? The medic’s report said you had no physical damage.”
“Stop trying to make us pity you. It’s not working”
Hero looks in the mirror and tries, desperately, to find any sign of the electric pain they endured. There’s nothing. Their eyes are emptier though, glassy and cold.

Whump Prompt #1316
Submitted by Anon - thanks!
Whumpee being presumed dead and (thinks) no one is looking for them… until they make it out on their own years later to find the team as happy as ever.
However, the whumpee doesn't know about the tears, guilt, nightmares, flashbacks and the changes their “death” caused, all they can see is the team seemingly not caring and it breaks whumpee.
Whether whumpee breaks down and is eventually found by the team, attacks the team or even goes back to whumper each has its own special flavour of angst.

A leader whose strength has always been his team. He never had people that he felt so connected to before, people who he trusted would always have his six, who he could be vulnerable around, who would never leave him behind.
Until they do.
He can only watch as eyes that once looked at him with belief, with a gaze that told him that they were always on his side, turned to disgust. When hands that once stitched his wounds and massaged sore muscles are the same ones that hold the whip to hurt him, fists that beat him and draw blood. Arms that had once hugged him when he needed warmth are the same pair that hold him still as he's branded as a traitor for something that he had never done.
It had been so easy for them to turn on him, as if all those years together spent by the fire, bonding over food and banter meant nothing.
The leader who they had once loved like a brother lays in the basement cellars, starved and cold and sick. He stopped eating, only ever partially conscious when they torture him for information that he does not have. They keep him there while the wounds they inflicted fester and slowly kill him, all hoping that he'll at least survive to see the day that his proper punishment is dealt.
But then the real traitor steps up out of guilt, after seeing what had been done to the man that had been falsely accused. After they had seen a good man treated as though he was worth less than the dirt on the bottom of his team's boots when all he ever did in his life was for his people.
The leader, broken and dying on a hospital bed, lives just a few moments long enough to hear the apologies of his team, his brothers and sisters. Cries that beg him to pull through as though they hadn't been the very ones who put him here.
Still, he forgives them.
Taking a few more weak breaths as the world that has always failed him finally gives him mercy.

When a whumpee who’s usually always laughing and joking can’t laugh or joke at THIS.
Everyone thinks whumpee can handle any pain because they always laugh or joke through it, looking on the bright side, keeping everyone else in good moods.
Whumpee who finally experiences the horrors and can’t laugh at it. Or a team who experiences a huge loss and turns to Whumpee to make them feel better and they just have… nothing. No jokes, no hope.
Hard to tell who’s more freaked out in that moment, Whumpee, or Whumpee’s friends

Team Leaders Can't Ask For Help
A tremor ran through Leader's hand. Shuddering, he readjusting his grip on the tweezers, the metal cool against his clammy hands as he worked. The crimson liquid contrasted against his pale skin as the blood ran down the upper portion of his leg and pooled around the torn flesh, his black trouser leg frayed around it.
A shaky groan escaped him as he pulled the last piece of shrapnel clear of the wound, ripping an overlapping strip of flesh as he plucked the debris away. The tweezers fell to the tray with a soft clink as he reached for the needle.
"Leader?.."
He bit back a sigh, recognizing his teammate's voice as his hand smacked against the tray harder than intended, fumbling to retrieve the needle and spool of thread.
"What are you doing?"
"It's nothing." Leader's brows pulled together, his utmost focus on the minute loop in the needle as he willed his trembling fingers to push the thread through.
A warm hand pressed against his own, carefully lifting the from his weakened grasp.
"I can do it myself."
"Yeah?" Teammate raised a brow, their eyes briefly meeting. "Well you don't have to."

Just imagining Team Leader whumpee who has had a particularly bad day and Team knows it, so some of the Team Members go over to their place to check in on them. They knock and there’s no answer so they try the door and it’s open. They walk in and find Team Leader just blasting music and getting cross-faded, absolutely out of it. And that’s when Team realizes just how much of an effect things have on Team Leader.

A new recruit joins the team, and has been abusing Whumpee. They beat them, hurt them emotionally, etc, and Whumpee kept quiet. Were they worried that the team wouldn't believe their story? Were they threatened into silence?
Leader, however, seemed to have noticed how withdrawn Whumpee is. They even noticed bruises and injuries that were on Whumpee's skin, and they asked them if they were alright. Whumpee brushed them off, saying that they were clumsy, before walking away.
Then, the new recruit took it too far, seriously hurting Whumpee, and when Leader heard their screams, they saw, to their horror, the new recruit, standing over a bleeding Whumpee, taunting them.
Cue a protective and pissed Leader.

I gotta love the when Whumpee's team meets one of Whumpee's old Whumpers but it's a Carewhumper or a manipulative Whumper that Whumpee views as a minor bother.
The team has to work with Whumper for some reason and the team finds out about their shared past. Maybe Whumpee tells them, maybe Whumper tells them, maybe they're both perfectly forthcoming about everything.
The team hates Whumper for how they treated Whumpee and always ask Whumpee if they need a break from Whumper or tell them that they can make do without Whumper but Whumpee just rolls their eyes and says that Whumper is harmless.
Whumper is far from harmless and the team is very concerned by the fact that Whumpee seems to be mildly annoyed at worst.
The team tries their best to make sure that the two of them are never alone but they keep finding the two of them together in increasingly compromised positions.
Whumper seems increasingly annoyed at being interrupted but Whumpee doesn't seem seem to care either way.
"You can't gaslight me, I know what you sound like when you're gaslighting me." "What’s gaslighting? I don't think that's a thing."
When Whumper finally leaves, the team is ecstatic. Whumpee watches them go with a hint of longing in their eyes.

Caretaker/whumpee h/c or post-whump comfort!
You know for someone who professes love for h/c I write surprisingly little of it. Let's change that;
Sidekick! Whumpee, recently rescued from Villain Whumper. Superhero/mentor Caretaker does his best to put him back together.
SOME PRETTY INTENSE TWS FOR THIS ONE : NIGHTMARES, PTSD, SELF HARM, ANXIETY ATTACKS
Whumpee forced to strip so Caretaker can treat his injuries. Whumpee is perched on the edge of the bathroom counter, hunched forward. Beside him, Caretaker fills the sink with water. "Can you lift your shirt?" He says, as gently as he can. Whumpee swallows the lump in his throat, begins to pull the blood-soaked fabric over his head. Caretaker inhales sharply, not even trying to hide his concern. Cuts, gashes, bruising around Whumpee's ribs ... he'd been beaten, burned, tortured, over and over and over again. But the worst of it all, the thing that makes Caretaker sick to his stomach, are the four little letters cut deep into the skin under Whumpee's collarbone. Mine. "Oh god- what's he done to you..." Caretaker's never seen the Villain be this bad, not with him. "Caretaker-" Whumpee interrupts his train of thought. His voice borders on pleading. "I'm begging you; don't make me talk about it."
Follow up : Whumpee disgusted with Whumper's mark. The sound of smashing glass from Whumpee's bedroom makes Caretaker spring into action immediately. The door is locked, but he throws his shoulder into it over and over again until the wood gives way and he stumbles into the room. Whumpee's stood in front of his mirror, fingers curled around a piece of broken glass. He's cutting around the carving. "Whumpee, stop!" Caretaker wrestles with his mentee, the latter fighting tooth and nail to resist his hold. "Let me go! Let me- I need to get rid of it- I need-" Whumpee's injuries slowly get the better of him, and he begins to break down, slumping against Caretaker. "No, no, no- I -I need to cut it out- please, Caretaker, let me cut it out, I need to-" Whumpee is in hysterics, still meekly thrashing against his mentor. Caretaker's eyes fill with tears. "It's going to be okay, Whumpee. You're going to be okay." He doesn't know who he's trying to convince more.
Whumpee's having a nightmare. He's moaning and twitching in his sleep, unintelligible cries for mercy passing his lips. Caretaker is awake before his protégé even stirs, knelt by his bedside, panic making his heart jackhammer against his chest. "Whumpee! Wake up!" Whumpee wakes before his mind does, blindly swinging his fists at Caretaker instinctively. "No! No! Please- don't touch me!" Caretaker grabs his wrists, pins them in front of him. "Whumpee, it's me. It's Caretaker, you're safe." Whumpee's blurry eyes pick out Caretaker's form, and his face crumples along with his body, arms thrown around Caretaker's neck. "M'sorry. I'm so sorry." He sobs into his shirt. Caretaker hushes him, rubs circles into his back. "You're not the one who has anything to apologise for, Whumpee. Not one thing."
Whumpee flinching accidentally when Caretaker startles them. Caretaker fixes them with a concerned look. Whumpee sniffs irritably, looks away. "I'm okay." Caretaker huffs a humourless laugh. "No, Whumpee. You're not." His tone is too gentle, too compassionate. Something inside of Whumpee breaks.
Whumper used to call whumpee the same nicknames his team mates would. Team mate casually slaps Whumpee on the back at the end of a mission, gives him an easy going smile. "Nice work today, Pretty boy." He says nonchalantly, tossing the phrase over his shoulder as he leaves. Whumpee freezes, rooted in place even as his other team members clear out. Two little words and he's back there again. Abandoned, broken. Would be completely alone if not for... Whumpee stuffs his hand in his mouth, wrangles down a sob. Mentor/Leader notices from across the room, is by his side in an instant. "Whumpee," he says, placatingly. Whumpee turns his startled eyes to his, tense as a wire. "Caretaker-" He murmurs, panicked. "I can't- I can't breathe." Caretaker makes slow movements, curls his hand around the back of his neck because he knows it calms the younger boy down. "It's okay. Just focus on my voice, okay? You're not there anymore. You're not with him." Whumpee shakes his head, trembling. "You're wrong, Caretaker." He was naive to think he could just jump back into missions like nothing happened. Like his life wasn't over the day he was taken from his team, from Caretaker. "He's always with me."

Bit random but here’s roles for your team if you ever need them for your team whump scenarios:
A/N: making this mainly bc I tried to find one of these but couldn’t (and also because I’m running out of content LMAO)
Leader - The person who’s in charge of everything, pretty self explanatory.
Caretaker - The person who’s closest to Whumpee. Could also be another one of the ones on the list at the same time (e.g. Caretaker and Medic).
Sniper - The person who shoots from the shadows. Usually (but not always) someone who’s trained by law enforcement.
Medic - The person who’s responsible for healing the rest of their team and patching up their injuries. AKA healer.
Fighter - The one who just fights, not necessarily with a weapon.
The clown - Usually the dumb one who’s there purely for comic relief.
In my opinion, those 5 are the backbone of the team, but here’s also some extras you can add on:
Mage/ wizard - The magic one, the one that comes up with spells and uses powers.
Hacker - The one who hacks into everything. That’s literally it.
Archer - Uses bow & arrow to fight.
Thief - The person who’s a stealing genius, have probably been stealing for a while if not their whole life.
The boring one - You know the only responsible character? Yeah.
Team mom/dad - Basically “the boring one” but more caring.
The pet - The team pet, just for vibes.
The social butterfly - Usually the character that goes “I know a guy” every time theres an issue that requires outside help.
Mechanic - The person that fixes stuff (e.g. broken armour or weapons) less seen in media for some reason, everything just kinda seems to fix itself with no explanation.
Ninja - Basically the “fighter” but less noisy and more sleek.
The maker - Also a less popular one, but it’s basically the one that makes everything, the gear, the teams costumes, the weapons, everything.
The stupid one - Last but not least, the stupid one, basically like the clown but without the humour. Always misinterprets everything they’re told (me too) and can barely do basic maths (also me too).
That’s it basically (if I missed any lmk), really hope this helped (or will help lol). Also remember, your characters don’t have to stick to only one of these roles, in fact, better written characters usually have at least 2 of these roles. However, if you just want them to have one of these roles for each character absolutely go for it, in the end it just comes down to personal preference.

Multiple Whumpees stuck in the same place together, divided by their different ways of handling the Whumper’s torture
The ones who react with stoic indifference are constantly on edge with the rebellious ones.
The tension cuts deeper than any knife wound, and the two groups drop so far as to mock the other. Pointing out their scars and how quickly they screamed. Getting into late night blurry eyes brawls.
Burning comments about how the stoic ones “don’t have it as bad” “haven’t been really hurt.” “don’t know what real pain is”
It doesn’t matter if the “stoics” stumble into a corner of their cell and stare at the opposite wall, at the ceiling, saying nothing. Doesn’t matter if their hands twitch like they’re still feeling leftover electric pain.
There is of course, retaliation.
“You’re all so stupid. You think sarcasm will save you?” “you’re always the first to scream” “you broke so quickly, we could hear it from down the hall.”
They turn a blind eye to how the “rebellious” ones will beg for one of their own companions to be given a brief reprieve. How their screams are interrupted by savage curses. How they stare Whumper down, even when forced to kneel.

Whump Prompt #1342
Submitted by @red-river-potato01 - thanks!
Character A is the black sheep of the team and isn't very well-liked by most of the others. Because of this they often lash out at the others since all they ever get is negative feedback. When the rookie Character B joins, A assumes they'll be like the others, especially when the team warns B about them. Yet to their surprise, B ignores all that and is nice to A. A isn't sure what to think, but they soon become very protective of B, enough so that they put themselves in harm's way for them...
