LONG RANT POST INCOMING

So I haven't smoked - cigarettes that is - for a while now, and I plan to keep it that way. So some hipster, millennial, imbecilic NPC, suggested that I should vape instead.

My reply: "So, let me get this straight... I should inhale a multitude of chemicals I cannot even name, and have no idea where they come from, which could be bought for less than one dollar USD, somehow combined in a factory in China somewhere - which may or may not have any safety standards, I will assume not given how cheap it is - to make it taste like berries or some shit like that... its then heated up using a heating element to create further chemical reactions which I then breathe into my lungs."

Him: "That's better than a cigarette Helen, its just vapor."

Me: "Would you drink antifreeze?"

Him: "What, no of course not. Why would I?"

Me: "But you're ok breathing it in and out though?"

Him: "What?"

Me: "Propylene Glycol is a chemical in vapes which is fucking ANTIFREEZE! You are inhaling anti-freeze you dumbass stupid motherfucker!"

So why would I vape INSTEAD of smoking? In the end I'd still be an addict, the only difference is I am changing one delivery system for another. I haven't actually progressed, I haven't made a decisive change in my life. You know the most hilarious part? This NPC never smoked in his life... he took up vaping.

Propylene Glycol if anybody is wondering, is a byproduct from refining oil and gas. It is a known skin irritant, which you are breathing into your lungs, I'm sure an inflammatory inciting liquid breathed into the lungs is ok right? Its thought to be toxic to the kidneys and liver, its also thought to cause various neurological problems. You inhale when you vape, I don't inhale cigar (mostly not), so, when this motherfucker inhales it will cross the blood brain barrier so all that lovely antifreeze is going to reach the brain. Decreased activity, stupor, ataxia, and other mental reducing effects.

Heart problems have been tied to this shitty chemical. It is bioaccumulative, that is, it builds up in the body. Its also an additive in Food for the 'Muricans possibly others. "propane-1,2-diol" or "E1520" are some of its names... if you see that on the label... put it back on the shelf immediately.

TL;DR version: So, I would want to vape instead of smoking, why? Seriously don't fucking vape, if you do vape... stop. For the love of god... stop. You are inhaling fucking antifreeze which will rot your brain.

FUN FACT!!

Did you know that commercially made icecream🍨 (aka most brands in stores & or served at restaurants) most likely contains a nontoxic antifreeze called propylene glycol? It is supposed to help preserve it and also keep it smooth without any ice crystals forming.

Most homemade or naturally made ice creams turn rockhard after u stick it in a freezer for a while, these suckers stay softer in comparison to them for "customer's satisfaction✨"

Propylene glycol is NOT listed in the ingredient labels or anywhere else and its all thanks to this USDA regulation. It covers all incidental food additive labelling which this ingredient happens 2 falls under, giving any and all manufacturers the chance to like not say anything about it in their products.

Guess what else?

It's not only used in ice cream.

It's also found in other foods (such as dairy products, soft drinks, teas, desserts, alcohol,etc), cosmetics(makeup, lipgloss,facial cleansers, etc) skin & hair care(such as lotions & conditioners) and pharmaceuticals(medicine)

There's a shitton of other things it's also used in that I didn't bother to type here(I'd be here all day & I only have a 5 min break im at work) and even if I did it still wouldn't cover all the other stuff that contains it that we don't know of bcuz it's not ever mentioned or labeled at all

Which i think is evil, bcuz there r ppl who are highly sensitive to it especially ppl who have vulvodynia or interstitial cystitis. This chemical has been known to cause skin problems, asthma, and cause depressive effects on the central nervous system, hypoglycemia, increased risk of seizures & heart attacks, low blood pressure, etc etc

I don't know the amount used for each product (hopefully it's small dosage) but it's hard to avoid propylene glycol when ur exposed to it like this at all times.

I'm not a scientist obviously I won't pretend to act like I know everything on this, and I didn't sit down for hours at 3am searching about this like I usually would, but personally I think they should add this thing and any other ingredients not commonly known to the avg person to the labels or mention somewhere on it.

Treat all these weird ingredients the same way one would with ppl with nut allergies yk? I think it'd help narrow down the exposure to the affected ppl at least.

The essence is very watery and clear.

It's very lightweight and hydrating.

It doesn't have any fragrance, but it does contain a couple of irritants, this also might not work with very very sensitive skin as it has active niacinamide and lemon extract, I do notice that it can burn if you have any broken skin or skin that's been picked at. The essence spreads very well and helps to plump and hydrate skin and you will notice a subtle brightening of the skin as well after each use. It helps to tone redness and even skin tone, it helps to refresh dull and dry skin. The ingredients are very hydrating as well as nourishing to the skin. The texture of the essence is really watery and lightweight, so this would be great for any skin type. It's also not sticky or tacky at all. I feel like this is actually pretty gentle despite having some irritants and actives so I'd recommend this to pretty much anyone unless you have issues with niacinamide.

What I like: this essence is really lightweight, it absorbs quickly and layers perfectly well under other skincare. It's almost instantly subtly brightening and it's very hydrating without being tacky or sticky. The ingredients are really good and this is relatively gentle and would probably suit most skin types. What I don't like: this does sting on open wounds or cuts and it does have some irritants.
