Yes, I was looking for you, but I only wanted to see and be near you, and actually it wasn’t going to matter what either of us said as long as we could be in physical proximity to one another, making eye contact, breathing each other’s breath for a while, how does that sound.
— Sally Rooney, Intermezzo: A Novel (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, September 24, 2024)

“No matter how you look at it, you and Kohaku-chan are quite close, wouldn’t you ay-say?” the mentalist says in a sing-songy tone.
Or a look at Senku and Kohaku's relationship throughout the series and how their proximity changes.

March GIF Theme: Proximity
The March 2025 GIF Theme is here! You have until the evening of March 31st to submit your ‘Proximity’ themed GIF. Your only limits are Tumblr’s GIF file size limit, and the theme.
Once you’ve made your GIF, post it to your blog and send the link to us via our submission box. We’ll reblog it to keep a collection of all the GIFs that have been made.
Good luck and have fun!

19 March 2025,
Intentional, or willful, coincidence, to me, is as persistently beautiful and deep as the theory of relativity — where the seemingly random moments and proximities of life align with hidden purpose, like threads woven into the fabric of the universe. Coincidences, though unplanned, carry a quiet elegance by themselves, suggesting that behind the chaos of the world, there is already a somewhat intricate design at work. Just as relativity reshapes our understanding of time and space, moments of space-time synchronicity reveal a deeper, invisible connection between all things.

When you learn all your life, read all the important books in the fields of science, sociology, humanities, and art; after you written several scientific books, a textbook, poetry book, short and long stories, made several documentaries, edited numerous scientific books and magazines, translated several scientific books and numerous articles to finally acknowledge what is the most important: those who are your closest! I needed to survive breast cancer this year to realize that!
Fuck the internet, YT, X, IG, FB and their counts of likes and views. I'm the generation raised with the idea that virtual reality, aka the internet, would bring people closer, but it creates bigger gaps between people, alienates them, increases loneliness and can't really 'talk' about some serious stuff. It is all the more evident since I published my article in The usa Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy.

And for slices of spacetime, a large deviation between slices means a significant disagreement on which events each observer considers to be happening now. This is illustrated in Figures 5.3 and 5.4, and it implies that individuals moving relative to each other, even at ordinary, everyday speeds, will have increasingly different conceptions of now if they are increasingly far apart in space.

Figures 5.3 and 5.4 illustrate the key idea schematically, but by using the equations of special relativity we can calculate how different your nows become.¹
1. For the mathematically inclined reader, from the equation t(moving) = γ(t(stationary) - (v/c²)·x(stationary)) (discussed in note 9 of Chapter 3) we find that Chewie's now-list at a given moment will contain events that observers on earth will claim happened (v/c²)·x(earth) earlier, where x(earth) is Chewie's distance from earth. This assumes Chewie is moving away from earth. For motion toward earth, v has the opposite sign, so earthbound observers will claim such events happened (v/c²)·x(earth) later. Setting v = 10 miles per hour and x(earth) = 10¹⁰ light-years, we find (v/c²)·x(earth) is about 150 years.
