Omg yes! This is a beautiful and adorable selection of birbs! I love these ideas!

Kinda ironic that we're reimagining square people into feathery orbs, now that I think about it. But it's a fabulous reimagining.

The purple Martin’s of Vancouver Island look unhappy (because I am standing to close to the nesting box) but the have a beautiful purple hue to their dark feathers and create a lovely noise. Nesting boxes are being put up all over the island to help the dwindling population of this bird. It’s presence on the conservation list has people actively finding simple ways to save this bird. It was quite a week this past week for fun bird discoveries! First we had the sighting of Julia’s offspring (the mourning doves!) and then there was the sunset visit of thousands of purple martins that came to roost downtown. They’ve come for a brief stopover in the city before heading down to South America where they will spend the winter. While here they enjoy rest and a big bug buffet so that they can gather strength for their 3000 mile journey south. I just love that they chose the one city block (and the building!) where the symphony plays. Purple martins. Did you know that there are people that call themselves “landlords” of purple Martin birds? This is because they migrate from Brazil yearly to the USA and the birds need houses due to their being less forest than in the past. I found this out when some purchased a small o add inting I made a few years ago. I painted the bird because it was pretty and then added sone landscape elements -distant mountains, an oak tree and a colorful sky in the painting. Nearly 4 years later a person finds it on Etsy and buys it because this is the scene outside their picture window - the blue ridge mountains, an oak tree and every year when the purple martins migrate to his area he feeds and houses them. Swipe to see the painting from 2019 that was purchased. The first painting is new that I completed today and I will put it up on Etsy to replace the old one. The third painting is what I painted first yesterday and I’m not sure about it, it needs more sky.
