Pythor & “If anyone is going to take over Ninjago, I’d rather it be me!”
Hm, good pick, 8/10. To me the most iconic Pythor line will forever and always be him screaming "GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME!!!" the ANGER in his voice is always so funny he has no reason to be reacting like this.

what's your raised by serpentine au about again?
Okay okay so. First off if you go through the tag for this AU some of the older posts are no longer super accurate because I changed things around since then (Cole is no longer the only human still alive in the tomb when Pythor breaks the seal is one of the biggest). And also I think there's a lot of stuff I came up with and then just. Never talked about. So this ask is incredibly serendipitous LMAO
Anyway. In RBS, the first major change is a timeline one—the Serpentine War that saw the Serpentine sealed into tombs occurred about 250 years pre-canon, not 40. This is mostly because it makes the whole "they've been gone so long that most people think the Serpentine are a myth" thing that was going on in Rise of the Snakes still a thing, and also because... why not? Wu and Garmadon would have still been around to commit war crimes, and it's not like there aren't ways for Chen to live to be nearly 300 years old.
The next major change is a bit more based in canon; remember how, in the flashbacks to the war in Tournament of Elements, when Garmadon was describing how Chen managed to turn members of the elemental alliance against the others, the one shown attacking the alliance was a Master of Earth? I do. I constantly think about that fact, if I'm being honest. Though, of course, the timeline being what it is, in RBS that Earth Master isn't Lily's father but rather a great great grandfather. Regardless, they turned against the alliance thanks to Chen's manipulations, so when the war ended and it was decided that sealing the Serpentine into sunless tombs against their will and regardless of whether they were soldier or civilian was a good idea (it was not), that Earth Master and a whole bunch of other humans were sealed into the Constrictai Tomb. So there's been a whole community of humans and Constrictai in there for two and a half centuries, with the Master of Earth among them the entire time.
You can probably guess where I'm going with this. But yeah, Lily, Lou, and Skalidor were in a sort of polycule (it was more qp on Skal's end but like. you get it). So when Lou and Lily both die via cave-in and sickness respectively, Cole ends up largely in Skalidor's care. Hence the title of the whole AU :]
tl;dr past master of earth was sealed into the constrictai's tomb and so cole never saw the sky until pythor rolled up to crack that tomb open

the fact the overlord chose to work with pythor on 2 out of the 3 times he's tried to defeat the ninja and take over Ninjago is so fucking funny to me, truly I think he does just like that guy

You know the funny (fucked up) thing is that I think that even if Arin knew about the story of Lloyd and Pythor, he still would have gone with Ras.
It's so easy to think youd know better in those types of situations when you really would not and I think Arin would assume that the situations are so different that it isn't possible he's getting manipulated the exact same way. He doesn't actually like Ras all that much, he just Needs him. He's not some gullible and sad little kid like Lloyd was. He's trying to get back his parents, a much more nobel ambition than petty revenge. He knows better and he's got the whole thing under control.
And its so dramatically ironic because Arin really fucking doesn't have anything under his control right now and I think he knows it.

Building off from the previous ask, it would be funny if Kai and Nya's great-great-great Serpentine grandpa was a member of the Chumsworth family. It would explain why Kai's stuck as an Anacondrai.
Tumblr media
That is a hilarious concept!
(Also why does canon Pythor have the head shape of a Hognose snake)
Though in this AU, the reason Kai and Skylor are stuck as an Anacondrai isn't genetics but rather that they weren't taken to the Departed Realm with the rest of the fake Anacondrai post-transformation.
Though that does make Skylor and Kai the only other Anacondrai apart from Pythor in Ninjago so like. that's fun to consider with their relationship dynamic.

Au where instead of all the bs that happens in the show Lloyd is just a weird kid who likes snakes and gets a bunch of em as pets. Maybe a movie au? Idk I just wanted to figure out what types of snakes the serpentine would be.
Lloyd's first snake is Fangtom, a nice regular milksnake. Pretty common type of pet snake. I would have loved to find something venomous but there was just nothing that matched the colors so well and hey Lloyd has to start somewhere.
Tumblr media
His second snake would be Skalidor, a pied morph of a rainbow boa (constrictor). Pretty, accurate colors, and a constrictor.
Tumblr media
Third is Pythor, a lavender morph kings naked. I had a bit of a hard time with this one since purple isn't exactly a common color in snakes. This is the closest I could get, it looks a bit more like his post being eaten form but close enough.
Tumblr media
Fourth is Slithraa, a Blue Racer. Again, blue isn't all that common in snakes, and there certainly aren't any blue snakes with hoods. I tried. This fella is pretty. I chose Slithraa, the first hypnobrai general instead of Skales because of the relationships in the show. Also I think it's funny that when I looked in the shopping section of Google for these guys I just got a bunch of toys and hypnobrai minifigures.
Tumblr media
Finally Lloyd's fanciest and most exotic snake: Aciticus the Green Mamba

Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.
So I DONT believe this
But...
My brother was watching Ninjago with me and he pointed something out..
Remember harumi's dad?
Tumblr media
Well my brother and I were watching the episode he was in because in forcing him to watch the whole show and he said he looked like Ronin?
Tumblr media
And now he thinks that theyre the same person. I mean I kinda see it, like if ronin was to somehow sneak away and not get eaten or if he came back like Wu and pythor did.
But I still didn't really believe it... but then I found this
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I DONT KNOW
I mean it'd be kinda funny but it is HIGHLY unlikely

just started rewatching season 1 and i love the Slither Pit fight because it's so funny to me that this species have been captured for CENTURIES upon MILLENNIA and at one point the Hypnobrai just said "fuck it- fighting pit" and made a fully mechanized death pit with levers and special ice weaponry and ground that tilts. and it is just a part of that cave system now. really makes you wonder what the other snakes were up to. i mean, pythor ate his species but other that THAT-

I will find it infinitely funny that a lot of the Armada English dub voice actors are also in the Lego Ninjago show. Like.
A lot.
Hot Shot's VA, Brent Miller, is Zane
Scott McNeil voices both Jetfire and the Overlord and they sound nothing alike (Overlord is basically Dinobot from Beast Wars. Also voiced by the same guy my god)
Michael Dobson does both Starscream AND Pythor it's insane
Both of Cole's voice actors, Kirby Morrow and Andrew Francis, are also in here (Andrew did Billy and Kirby, rip, did Rad).
Just...so many.....my god...

I miss when the villains were actually memorable and funny. Beatrix, Ras, and that guy with the shades who's name I don't care to look up are all boring or painfully unfunny. Cinder is just funny because of his sassy attitude, and Jordana because she's the butt monkey, but neither of them have made me laugh anywhere near as hard as Pythor, Chen, Morro, s1-2 Garmadon, or Crux and Acronix. Even Kalmar was fun to watch from how despicable he is. I know villains don't HAVE to be funny but then they should be at least entertaining or intimidating, and the DR villains are lacking in that department too. They're just... boring. Hopefully the Forbidden Five will be a step up from the villains we've had so far.

Starstruck [Ninjago x Reader]- Return
Master Wu sat in his room thinking, his mind wandering to his student who had been on a mission to a far village far longer than he had hoped. Wu shook his head. Y/n was strong and Wu knew they could stand their own.
Suddenly his other students, the ninja, burst into the room, talking over each other and bragging about their physical achievements, "Sensei what does true potential look like if—" They paused, seeing that they disturbed their sensei's meditation. "Our apologies, Sensei. We've interrupted you," Zane spoke for the group as they bowed sincerely.
Sensei Wu sighed, "I'm sorry if I've been distant lately. My mind has been elsewhere." He looked solemnly at the four ninja, "What can I help you with?"
Cole wondered "Sensei, what if we've done enough training? What if we've reached our True Potential? What if we're ready?"
Wu chuckled and turned to the group "You might have reached peak physical condition, but you've yet to reach your inner potential. In each and every one of us, there are obstacles that hold us back. Only when you conquer that fear will your heart be free. Only then will you reach your True Potential. Only then will we have a fighting chance to stop the Serpentine from releasing the Great Devourer."
Zane approached his sensei, "There's more to the Great Devourer than you've led on, isn't there, Sensei?" Master Wu solemnly told his students the story of his brother, Garmadon and the Great Devourer. As children the Great Devourer had bit Garmadon which turned him evil, causing him to become Lord Garmadon; Wu felt that he was at fault for his brother's evil transformation.
"So the Great Devourer turned your brother into the Dark Lord?" Kai clarified.
Sensei Wu sighed as he placed a sword in a case, "It was all my fault.." he turned to the ninja, "You four have finished your training. You must now focus on stopping Pythor from collecting the Fangblades. But never lose focus on the obstacles that lie within each of your hearts that holds you back from true greatness. Unlock your True Potential."
Concerned, Zane asked, "But how are we supposed to do that, Sensei?"
Master Wu began to walk away, "It is up to each of you to discover. Now I must go on a personal journey of my own.
"Where are you going?" Jay asked, chasing after his master.
Wu shook his head, "To a place you cannot follow," he replied mysteriously.
Cole tried to persuade his master not to leave, "If you're going for Lloyd, the City of Ouroboros is filled with hundreds of Serpentine. You'll never do it alone."
"I am going to find people who can be of aid," Wu explained, "the Serpentine have united and grown stronger and we will need all the help we can get."
~
The ninja dropped their sensei on the top of the mountain as his students waved to him. Master Wu traveled to Mystake's Tea shop to find his brother, who he hoped would help to find his missing student as well.
"I would like to purchase some Traveler's Tea," He told the old lady behind the counter. The woman growled in response, "Never heard of it." When Wu placed coins on the counter she gave in with a scoff and began to prepare the tea. "You know, those who drink this never return," she warned as she pushed the teapot towards him. "Then I will not bother you again," he promised as he walked out with the teapot.
In solitude Wu brewed the tea and poured it around the fire, causing a bright portal to the Realm of Madness to open. He's thrown onto a ground with grey grass as the sky bleeds a deep red. The voice of his brother called out to him, "Hello, brother. What took you so long? You brought the katana from our youth. Funny, you never had the courage to cross the temple wall, yet now you have the courage to come here."
"Why have you come to this place of darkness?" Wu demanded answers of Garmadon.
"A place as wicked as me? Don't you see? Here I feel at home. In Ninjago, I was physically unable to hold all four Spinjitzu Weapons. But here dark magic has made me stronger and what was once impossible is now possible," The Lord of Darkness raised his four arms.
Wu looked at his brother in surprise, "You came here only to possess the Weapons of Spinjitzu?"
"Yes, brother, and I refuse to allow you or your petty ninja to stop me!" Garmadon shouted and began to attack his brother. Wu avoided the attack and tried to reason with Garmadon, "Brother, I've not come here to—," he fell down into a mud pit where he was forced to use Spinjitzu to defend himself from the mud monsters. "You will pay for your visit. mud monsters, converge! You don't belong here, old fool. You should've known better than to try to stop me," The oni demanded, which caused mud monsters to trap Wu.
"I didn't come to stop you. I came to warn you. To tell you—your son's in danger!" Wu struggled against the mud, desperately trying to convince his brother to help.
Garmadon stopped, "Lloyd?" he immediately pulled Wu from the grasps of the mud creatures, "What has Lloyd gotten himself into?"
"He has opened a can of worms I fear I will never be able to close," Wu worried.
Garmadon approaches Wu and offers his hand, "you mean we will never be able to close. Get up. You can tell me more later. First, we need to return home. How did you find me?"
Wu replied, "Traveler's Tea. But I used it all and now have no way back."
"There is only one way to return to Ninjago. But to get there, we must pass through the Mountain of Madness and it is a long and dangerous road ahead," Garmadon warned.
"I wouldn't have it any other way."
"We should leave. Before it really gets dark."
The two brothers walk through the Realm of Madness, "So, what kind of trouble has Lloyd gotten himself into?" Garmadon asked, trying to break the awkward silence.
"Well, I'm afraid to say, the worst kind. He's reopened the Serpentine tombs, and now that they have united, Pythor is trying to find the Four Silver Fangblades to unleash the Great Devourer," Wu explains the situation happening in Ninjago. "I would also like your help to look for my lost student."
"Y/n? What happened to them?" Garmadon tried not to show his concern for them.
"They went on a mission to a small village while I was recruiting the ninja. They were supposed to be back by now but I worry for them. I know you had a soft spot for them when they were younger."
"We will get them as soon as we escape this realm," The Lord of Darkness said confidently.
The brothers had been walking for hours when they reached the base of the Mountain of madness. Wu worried, "The only way back to Ninjago is up there?" Garmadon nodded his head, "The worst is yet to come." They began to ascend to the mountain that emitted a blue glow underneath gray rocks. The red of the sky began to turn darker, indicating nightfall in the Realm of Madness. The red moon rose high in the dark sky.
"I had hoped to reach the summit before the moon has risen. The Craglings never miss a midnight snack," Garmadon helped Wu onto the ledge.
"Craglings? What is this place? There's no such thing in Ninjago."
"They're a horde unlike any you've seen. Not all places exist to be found, brother. Sometimes, one must revel in the shadows to truly see the light." As Garmadon spoke, rocks rolled in between their feet; coming together to form Craglings. The rock creatures approached the two and Garmadon pulled out his swords and stood in a fighting stance. After the oni started to attack, Wu joined in. As they ran past the horde, Wu was grabbed by a Cragling.
"Watch out, brother!" The Lord of Darkness destroyed the Cragling and Wu thanked him.
When creatures surrounded the duo, Wu and Garmadon stood back to back. "Just like old times?" Wu asked
"Just like old times," his brother affirmed as they fought off the horde of rock monsters together.
"The vortex back to Ninjago is just over that buff. Please, you first," Garmadon offered as he pointed over the mountain.
"Though we live in two different worlds, I still see good in your heart, brother," Wu assured his brother with a smile. When they reached the peak of the mountain Wu looked into the vortex as Garmadon came up maliciously behind him. "The battle between our worlds is inevitable. You put too much trust in me," The oni said before pushing his brother into the vortex.
Wu grabbed onto a ledge before he could fall, "But I came for your help to save your son! Did you lead me here to destroy me?!"
"See you on the other side," Garmadon laughed as he jumped into the vortex, bringing Wu with him. In a small village the portal spat out the brothers as panicked villagers ran from the area. "I'm back, Ninjago," The Lord of Darkness announced.
Wu got up and cleaned his clothes off from landing on the ground. "May we find my student now?" he asked, annoyed with his brother's actions. It didn't take long to reach the village where Y/n would supposedly be. After asking around the brothers were informed that they had gone to fight a monster that was making it dangerous to travel and farm but he never returned. Wu's stomach dropped; he hoped he hadn't lost another student, but he had faith in Y/n.
They searched the area near the village in hopes of finding him. "Here they are!" Garmadon called. Wu rushed over to check Y/n's condition, they hadn't sustained any life threatening injuries but clearly had a concussion. The Lord of Darkness held the them in his arms as the brothers made their way to the Bounty.

Ice Cream at 3 A.M.
Summary: Lloyd has a nightmare about his dad and Kai is the only one awake to comfort him. (Takes place in season 1, about one or two weeks after Lloyd finds out he's the green ninja)
AO3 link:
Fic below the cut (2,310 words)
The fire ninja stirred in his bed with a groan. He had kicked his blanket off the end of his bed. With his already naturally high body temperature, he tended to overheat as he slept. It was routine at this point. He’d fall asleep with his blanket tightly wrapped around him, and then in the morning, he would pick it up off the floor. Yet now he felt chilled by the icy air below him coming off Zane. Kai groaned as he blindly felt for the ladder's rungs in the dark of the night. Kai slipped and narrowly caught himself before he crashed to the floor. The three other boys wouldn’t forgive him if he woke them up this early. It was already hard enough to learn how to share a room among four people, they didn’t need to add sleep deprivation to their list of issues.
Kai picked his blanket off the ground and threw it up onto his bed. He got one foot on the ladder before pausing to yawn. He cringed as he felt the air rush against his dry mouth. Now it was all he could focus on. Kai squinted his eyes, looking for his glass of water. He felt around before his hand came into contact with the cold glass. A cold, empty glass. Kai grumbled, “Stupid Jay… Can’t he get his own cup?” Another item on the list of issues that would never be resolved.
Kai took the empty glass with him out of the room he shared with his teammates. The fire ninja took note as he saw Lloyd’s door cracked open. He glanced in and felt his heart skip as he saw the faint outline of an empty bed. Had Pythor gotten on board and kidnapped Lloyd again? Or was this another villain’s evil plot? Where was that little brat now?
As the sound of wood scraping against wood met Kai’s ears, he sighed in relief. He knew that sound by now. Kai continued his journey to the kitchen, where he found Lloyd dragging a wooden stool to the cabinets.
“Hey kid,” Kai whispered, hoping not to startle the young boy, yet ultimately failed. Lloyd cried out and stumbled off the stool, landing on his face with a soft ‘ouch’. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” Kai chuckled. He set his glass on the table and walked over to Lloyd to help him up. “Maybe I should unlearn how to sneak around so I don’t do that again,” Kai joked, but the smile fell from his face as Lloyd lifted his face from the floor.
Lloyd’s face was red and he had tears streaming down his cheeks. Lloyd already didn’t find Kai funny, but his jokes usually weren’t this bad.
“Whoa! Hey, what’s wrong?” Kai murmured, kneeling beside Lloyd, all of his older-brother instincts kicking in. “What are you crying for?”
“I had a nightmare,” Lloyd sobbed, sniffling and rubbing his nose against the sleeves of his shirt.
Kai fought the urge to gag and cringe at the volume of snot leaking out of Lloyd’s nose. He’d have to help the kid with laundry in the morning. “Do you want to talk about it?” Kai asked, his voice softer and higher than usual, something he had figured over the years helped soothe children. “You seem pretty upset by it.”
“It was my dad,” Lloyd hiccuped. “He- He-” The young ninja struggled to get the words out between sobs. Kai frowned further and wrapped his arms around the kid, bringing him into a hug. At first, Lloyd tensed, but soon he relaxed into Kai’s chest. “He was hurting me, and he threw me into a wall,” Lloyd sniffled, “and he… he told me he didn’t have a son…” Lloyd’s hand gripped the back of Kai’s pajama shirt tightly. “He… hated me…”
“Oh Lloyd…” Kai murmured, rubbing soothing circles into the kid’s back. “That could never happen. Your dad is the lord of evil and darkness, but he still loves you. That will never change. He is so proud of you… You’re the most important thing in the world to him.”
“But… it felt so real!”
“I know buddy… But you’re safe, your dad will never hurt you, and he will always love you,” Kai assured. Kai pulled back, looking down at Lloyd’s still snotty face. “How about we get your mind off this, yeah?” Kai offered a soft, reassuring smile. “Maybe some… ice-cream?”
Lloyd perked up at the mention of sweets. “Really?”
“Yeah, you’ve just gotta promise to brush your teeth again after and not tell anyone else, okay?” Kai asked, holding out his pinky to Lloyd. “They’d get jealous if they knew we were getting ice cream without them.”
Lloyd frowned at the idea of brushing his teeth again. It was already a fight to get him to do so before bed, he didn’t want to brush his teeth three times in a singular day. However, getting ice cream just might be worth it, especially if it was just him and Kai. Candy always tasted sweeter when he didn’t have to share. Lloyd wrapped his pinkie around Kai’s outstretched finger and shook it once. “Deal. My lips are sealed!”
Kai grinned and stood up. “Good, 'cause I also don’t want the others to know I have ice cream. It’s so hard to hide things from them in this house- or, well… ship.” Kai rested Lloyd on his hip as he made his way to the fridge. Kai opened the upper freezer door and rummaged inside. Reaching the very back, where ice had begun to take over the forgotten food, there was a bit of ice chipped out, hiding a pint of strawberry ice cream in the frozen walls. Words were scribbled all over the pint of ice cream, consisting of death threats to anyone who ate Kai’s ice cream without permission. Permission that would never be granted. Unless, of course, you were Nya as she got sibling privileges. Now Lloyd was added to that very short list.
Kai grabbed two bowls from the cupboard and set them on the counter. He struggled with opening his pint of ice cream one-handed, but he was determined not to set Lloyd down. Plus this was not the first time he’d had to learn how to do things with one hand. Kai was reminded of when Nya was a toddler. After their parents had abandoned them out of the blue. She would cry all night long, asking for their mother. Kai would try his best to soothe her and eventually found it easier to hold her until she calmed down. The adults in their village would often help during the day, ensuring the two kids were still alive and eating. But at night or when everyone was busy, Kai was solely responsible for Nya.
Kai promised to always protect and take care of his little sister. Now with his shirt soaked with tears and Lloyd gripping onto him so tight, as if he loosened his grip by a fraction that Kai would disappear, how could Kai not do the same for the young Garmadon?
Kai managed to scoop a satisfactory amount into both of the bowls and put his ice cream back into its hiding spot. He struggled to hold two bowls one-handed while also trying to avoid any of the deserts or their spoons from dropping. No one said it was easy to be a single mother when you were both a teenager and male.
Kai carried Lloyd out of the kitchen and into the open air of the night. He got halfway down the stairs leading to the main deck before easing himself down to sit. The fire ninja finally set Lloyd down beside him, but the young one did not let up his grasp on Kai’s shirt.
Lloyd only let go when Kai held out a bowl to him, this one having slightly less ice cream than the other. He didn’t want Lloyd to eat too much sugar and give himself another thing to be hurt about. Lloyd took the desert but kept pressed close to Kai.
For once in his life, Lloyd was slow to eat the sweet treat. He twirled the spoon, mixing the ice cream in circles. “Kai… do you really think my dad won’t ever hurt me?” Lloyd asked softly, looking up at the other.
“He would never,” Kai promised, knowing it to be a lie. Lloyd was destined to fight Garmadon. It would be impossible for Lloyd to not even get a small scuff in the final battle. But even an airhead like Kai knew that Lloyd did not need the truth right now. “But if he ever does, I’ll be there with you. I’ll protect you no matter what.”
Lloyd turned back to the bowl and took his first bite of ice cream. He thought something over before looking back up at Kai. “Like a dad?”
“Huh?”
“Yknow… Dads are usually the ones who are always there and protecting their kids,” Lloyd explained.
“I…” Kai hesitated. Being a dad was too much responsibility for him. Just because Kai was eighteen did not mean he was ready for adult duties. “I don’t know how to be a dad…” Kai began, seeing Lloyd’s face drop further. “But! I do know how to be a big brother. You see how Nya turned out, you could be just as cool and smart as she is with me looking out for you.”
A small smile crept onto Lloyd’s face. “Yeah! One day I’ll be so much cooler and better at fighting than you are! Just like Nya!”
Normally Kai’s ego would be hurt, but for now, he was just relieved that Lloyd was cheering up. The fire ninja chuckled and nodded his head. “You sure will, and I’ll get bragging rights to everyone that I have the coolest little brother in the world,” Kai grinned, ruffling his hand through Lloyd’s already messy hair.
Lloyd giggled and pushed Kai’s hand away playfully. Kai relented his teasing, letting Lloyd eat the rest of his ice cream. Now he ate much quicker than before, his usual pace whenever he got his grubby little hands on sugar. Kai smiled, relieved at how the sadness left Lloyd’s face.
Kai leaned back against the steps and sighed happily. He slowly made his way through his bowl. He wasn’t all that interested in eating something so sweet this late at night, but he wasn’t just going to let Lloyd eat alone. So when Lloyd finished his entire bowl and started eyeing Kai’s food too, the fire ninja rolled his eyes as he handed the child the rest of his ice cream.
“Thank you, Kai!” Lloyd cheered, eating the small remainder.
Kai looked up to the stars in the night sky. He shut his eyes momentarily as he relaxed. He heard the clanging of bowls and then felt Lloyd shuffle closer to him, leaning into his side.
“Can we stay here for a little bit longer?” Lloyd asked softly. “I don’t want to go back to bed just yet…”
“Of course, buddy,” Kai agreed, wrapping his arm around Lloyd. He rubbed soothing circles into Lloyd’s back. Kai opened his eyes, glancing down at the child. Lloyd had buried his face into Kai’s side. His eyes were closed and Kai knew he should make sure he didn’t fall back asleep before brushing his teeth. However, the moment was too nice to end. He would get Lloyd up and back to his bed soon. He swore.
Yet before he knew it, Kai’d eyes were drooping shut.
-
“Hey, sleepy-heads!” Kai groaned as he felt a light kick to his shoulder.  “You can’t sleep forever!”
“Your voice is so annoying, Jay,” Kai grunted. Kai shifted, pulling the blanket on top of him closer. His eyes peeked open, actually taking note of the blanket. Where had it come from? Kai couldn’t remember.
“Do you really hate sharing a room with us so much that you had to sleep outside?” Cole teased as he walked past the half-asleep duo.
“After stealing Master Wu’s blanket as well,” Zane added, passing by them as well to the main deck.
Kai sat up, yelping in pain from the kinks in his back from sleeping with the stairs digging into his back. Lloyd whined as his pillow moved away from him, forcing him to wake up. Kai lifted the blanket, analyzing it to see if Zane’s words were true. Kai furrowed his eyebrow and looked up, searching among his teammates. Kai’s eyes met with Wu, who wore a knowing look.
“It’s not my fault that Jay snores too loud,” Kai shot back. That wasn’t the real reason, but he knew at Lloyd’s age he was embarrassed by having nightmares. So it would be their little secret.
“Hey! It’s not that bad!” Jay cried, looking to Cole and Zane to back him up. However, the two refused to meet his gaze, looking in the opposite direction of their teammate. “Oh come on! I’m working on it! I’m sorry I can’t control my body while I'm asleep!”
Kai laughed as Jay was distracted by ranting about how he was doing so much, and the rest of them were also annoying in their sleep. How Zane made the room too cold, Kai made it too hot, and Cole was always moving around which made the bed creak and shake. Kai stood up and held out his hand to Lloyd, helping the child to his feet as well. “C’mon, let's go get ready while Jay is distracting everyone.”
-
“Are you really going to keep your promise?” Lloyd asked once the two were inside, preparing to brush their teeth. “From last night?”
“Of course I am,” Kai promised once more, ruffling Lloyd’s hair. “I’ll be the best big brother you could ever dream of.”

season 1 review season 2 review
I finished Season 3 of my Ninjago Rewatch,  here’s my review. holy yapper
I think it’s going to be a recurring theme that I like each season a bit more than the last one; but Season 3 especially more because it seemed to be surer of itself, as well as condensing it’s plot into 8 episodes.  I found the pacing much better and I don’t think any episode had any drag.
This season was VERY engaging, even during the slower moments I was very invested while watching.  I’m not a big fan of technology / hacker type plots, but I was very involved in watching.   In the later episodes, I was stressed while watching.  The stakes were very high only shifted to be more dangerous as the plot progressed.
It followed a consistent theme of “we failed this time, next time we won’t” and while I want to say it got annoying after awhile, personally I found it realistic.  In the previous seasons, the threats they were faced with were passed enemies coming back, or fates historically warned about.  This season, it was ENTIRELY new.  They had no ancient scrolls or old foretellings to warn and give hints, and with the new technology advancements, the Ninja were literally going in blind.  The most they had was the Serpentines legend about the Golden Master, and even then; it was also just a story with the perspective of the Ninja being the enemies.  The entire Season, the Ninja were always at a disadvantage, which made every attempt of desperation feel like one.
I also noticed that there was a consistent lesson of using the enemies strengths against them.  Starting from Garmadons “art of the silent fist” lesson to using armor that was used against the FSM to defeat the Overlord, I found that to be a very intriguing.  I found it to be a commentary of the balance as well; good things can be used for evil, and things used for evil can be turned back to good things.  Even when the Ninja were trapped at in a position where they thought was one of no return, they still managed to use their resources to prevail.
As for the characters, I like how they were all written here.  I enjoyed Lloyd and Garmadons dynamic and them finally having a father-son relationship.  Kai and PIXAL had a very funny dynamic in ‘Codename; Arcturus’ and I hope we see more of that.  I thought Kai was a little out of character in that episode though, he was super confident and cocky while the previous ones he struggled more with insecurities, but I think he was also riding the high with the belief they defeated the Overlord; just to later find out they didn’t.  While I still think Garmadons redemption should’ve gone a little differently, his oath to never fight again did hold real weight and his lesson to fight without fighting was what taught the Ninja how to keep going.  Garmadon dropping this oath to fight Pythor after they took Lloyd was kickass too.
Garmadon and Wu had a very interesting dynamic this season.  Even when Wu was taken over by the Overlord, they always stayed close.  While they were allies again and seemed to rekindle the brotherhood they had before, there was still times where they clashed.  Garmadon seemed to be more of a “realist” and I think Wu is more “spiritual” compared to him, believing in faith and that, so long as the Ninja continue to head in the right direction, things will work out okay, while Garmadon is more in the moment, and seems to stick more to what the plan was, and worries when things get off track.
However, I think both of their sides are good and provides each other a different perspective.  Wu knows the Ninja MUCH better than Garmadon does, both as a team and personally, Wu has much more trust and faith in them compared to Garmadon.  Garmadon also seems to be a bit of a pessimist; he didn’t agree with Lloyd giving up his Golden Power to share with the Ninja, told Wu the Ninja won’t back from space, and overall expects the worse out of a situation.  But, he also admits he needs to learn trust.  I would’ve liked to see Wu agree with Garmadon for something in his perspective as well, maybe seeing him take the Ninja out of a situation he knows could be dangerous, but I don’t think it’s something that took away from the season or makes me think of the character more negatively.
My only complaint I had was the infamous love triangle between Nya, Jay and Cole.  But, I don’t think it was anywhere near as bad as I remembered it.  It was actually kind of funny, and truthfully; Cole didn’t really have much to bring to the table other than reacting to things Jay was saying.  It was implied Jay and Nya were having couple problems in the first episode, so I imagine when Nya was told that Cole was compatible with her instead, she just had self doubt and wasn’t sure if she could commit to Jay, considering the tension they already had together.  I don’t think Cole shared any big feelings either, the only time where Cole seemed to return anything was when he and Nya were talking about their students, but that wasn’t enough to only be taken romantically, at least in my opinion.  Cole might’ve just had sudden feelings after this was made aware to him, and might’ve continued to play along out of curiosity for what Nya would do, and probably just to keep messing with Jay, since Jay cared about it MUCH more than Cole did.  In the finale Nya did hug Cole, I remember that being something discussed about before and something I noticed, but I don’t think it had anything to do with the love triangle directly; their friend just died, and Nya hugged the closest person there was.  I don’t really think it was necessary to the Season, it only seemed to give Nya some develop or flaw in her character, but since there was no time to expand on it, it didn’t really add anything positive.  But again, I didn’t find to be as bad as I was remembering, so it didn’t really put a damper on the experience.
My only other complaint; I wish the side-villains had more screen time.  Cryptor didn’t really get anything until the last few seasons, and I found him to be very interesting when he was on screen, like when he told Pythor he didn’t want his army to be taken advantage of, it would’ve been cool to see his character have more use than just another pawn of the Overlord.
The finale was rough, but soo good.  I probably shouldn’t have watched it so close to my grandmas deathday, but if a Lego show can resurface such feelings then I say it was written WELL.  The ONLY thing I wish was different, was explaining a bit more on.. How Zane even sacrificed.  Part of it was self explanatory, but going in at first got confusing.  If I’m not wrong, Zane touched the Golden Power, and doing so was beginning to damage him, but also fuel his elemental powers to it’s strongest; which is what made it so strong to destroy the Overlord, and what ultimately ended up killing him.  The voice actors had rent due because the Ninja’s reactions watching it and being dragged away was gut punching.  Kai being the one to speak on the Ninja’s behalf during the ceremony and reveal of the Titanium Statue took me aback, I didn’t think Kai would be the public speaking type out of the Ninja; but it fit, and was memorable.  The finale ends with PIXAL being “contacted” by Zane, or something?  Not complaining, but the cliffhanger might’ve been too soon, and didn’t really make a whole lot of sense.  That might also have been the point, though.
Overall, the season was great.  Every review seems to get longer; the show is definitely expanding and only getting better from here. It was a fun watch.  Solid 8.5/10

u ever think abt how chen is basically responsible for everything that happens in the series
,, , pretty much everything in wilfilm era especially is correlated or caused by him
-- chen is directly responsible for pairing up garm and misako, which leads to lloyd being born down the line
-- he crosses the serpentine and elemental alliance, causing the serpentine to be locked underground by the end of the conflict. this dominoes into lloyd finding and unlocking the tombs. which dominoes into pythor unleashing the devourerer bc he was pissed abt being locked away. this snowballs into the first three seasons.
-- zane dies and chen tries to directly interfere with the main plot via the ToE. cursing chen to defeat him meant morro got unleashed, which dominoes into clouse being freed from the preeminent (i.e. DIT and skybound), which dominoes into cole confronting yang bc possession happened
-- there was the cut plot (or was it just a tommy lore tweet, idr) of chen manipulating krux and acronix. idk if that's a canon thing but i feel it holds up so i'm including it
-- harumi hatches the entire oni trilogy bc of the GD being unleashed ; again, chen is indirectly responsible for this one
and he causes AAAAAALLLLLLLL of this. because *checks notes* he gets bored easily and thinks it's funny to start drama

Hiiii I just read through all of the GIAG au and I love it! I read all of it offline so couldn’t comment but some things I enjoyed were:
- Lord Garmadon as a character. He just is so goofy to me, very much like a Saturday cartoon villain
- Movie Harumi, and her plans. Sucks that she didn’t manage to sabotage the wedding
- Indiana Jones! Never actually seen the movie but the idea of the Coles meeting him is very funny to me
- The Fuschia ninja’s real identities. I only ever read one other fic where they revealed the Fuschia Ninja’s identity, and it was an OC, so it was a delight seeing Morro and the elemental masters as it, especially since I usually see movie!Morro as part of Garmadon’s army or just a regular teen/retired ninja
- The Lloyds! They are the brothers of all time, glad to see them bond. Also Luh-Lloyd in drag is hilarious to me, and I hope that later seasons have him do it if only for the comedic potential
- both Kais in body guard training, especially the first one where Buddy thinks he is in a dream.
- Koko and Misako first meeting, and then talking things out!! I liked that a lot :)
- Zen Zane and Pep Zane teaching the other their hobbies is so funny to me. I hope that Zen gets to show off his guitar skills at some point in time
- Pythor VS Nick let’s go!!! It was so funny, the power of revenge really showing its potential
- The Volcano workers! I love Nana, and I hope that the work environment at the volcano is better now that there are therapists for the employees, thanks to HR. Also Koko being able to reign in Garmadon a bit
Anyway I could go on but I feel like this is getting a bit long, sorry for rambling
Glad you liked my fic.
He is a Saturday morning cartoon villain. You can't convince me otherwise.
Glad you like my take on Movie Harumi. The crazy fangirl is fun to do.
They're good movies, but yeah, it was fun to do those little bits with him.
Glad you like my idea for the Fuchsia Squad. It was an idea I had early on and enjoyed building up to it from the very beginning.
All shows need more characters in drag.
They take it very seriously.
I'm not fond of canon Misako, so I was glad to have Koko help to make her more likable.
Someday...
It's probably still a nightmare job, but the pay and benefits have to make it worth it. Nana is smart enough to game the system, and is happy to be #7.
No worrise, I'm glad you enjoyed reading it.
