The flagship offering of my 2024 Pride Line.

An image of Tiresias, the ancient Greek sage, prophet, and diviner.

This image alludes the the tale, most famous from Ovid and Pseudo-Apollodorus, of Tiresias encounters with snakes, the first of which transformed him into a woman, and the second of which (legendarily seven years later) turned her into a man, again. Although ancient authors admittedly believed otherwise, I cannot imagine that the great sage experienced either transformation as an accident: I believe that s/he knew exactly what she was getting into. As such, I name Tiresias an ancestor or saint for all of us whose gender is fluid and ambiguous.

Given that Tiresias was raised among the nymphs of Athena  (according to pseudo Apollodorus and others), and recieved his gifts of prophesy from her; and, given the crucial role that Tiresias played in the Bacchae of Euripides, I believe that Tiresias is likewise a saint suitable for devotees of Dionysos and Athena.

The piece is:

* heavy, like all of my work, meant to last multiple lifetimes.

i don't even remember how i got into jeweler richard but damn. it's now one of my favorite pieces of media ever.

it's just so,, refreshing & comfy to read. every volume is like sitting in a warm patch of sunlight & learning about all these wonderful, new things (which may sometimes not be so wonderful, after all) as a child. like, every volume is chock-full of random trivia, it's so silly and endearing. i also love how Real these books get while still being so respectful & understanding. opened my eyes to so many things. everything from the queer experience to shitty fathers (an understatement) to beauty—man.

seigi & richard have such a lovely relationship, it's such a treat to read how their relationship progresses from strangers -> employer & employee -> friends(???) -> friends -> partners

i've only read up until the 8th volume, but idt I'll mind (that much) if they aren't explicitly stated to be romantically involved because the nature of their relationship is already so obviously queer, you'd honestly have to purposefully obtuse to not see it. whether they end up platonic (???), queer-platonic, or romantic (no matter how hesitant it may be), i'm glad that a series like this exists & that i got to read it. as someone who slowly came to terms with my own queerness, jeweler richard holds a special place in my heart. i can't wait to read the next volumes :)

The Case Files of Jeweler Richard Vol. 8 releases soon and I am soooo excited for it! But I also really really wish more people would read it! This series is SO explicitly queer, from the way that Seigi and Richard interact with each other, to the people they help, to the beliefs that both of them hold. It is also so incredibly aspec! Not only is the character that Seigi is in love with explicitly aroace, even if the words aren’t used exactly, but the relationship between between Richard and Seigi reads as extremely queer platonic. The way they grow together, nurture each other, and become the best versions of themselves as the series goes on is so beautiful and I really encourage you to read them, if you’re anywhere on the aspectrum like I am. You might find it’ll make your day!

You like downtown abbey! I almost did not watch this show because frankly a bunch of rich people from early 1900s England did not interest much but the writing is so good and the characters so intereting that I was rooting for them by episode 2. Anyway. What prompted me to write this ask is: do you have any recs for shows/movie/book with great characters? The specifc genre doesn't matter much. I'm curious to know what media have your favorite characters (besides HP of course)

I do like the Edwardian rich people show! The bastards got me again. It's such an interesting period — I think that the early seasons are the best because you can see the writers are still trying to *say something* about Edwardian Britain, especially the decline of the class system in England during and after World War I. The whole war plotline is really great, some of the show's best writing, and it hits series heights when it's doing the initial aftermath stuff (also not coincidentally the season where they develop Thomas's character beyond 'evil gay footman.')

My favorite characters are scattered all over the place — off the top of my head, Wuthering Heights, Sense & Sensibility, Jane Eyre, Middlemarch, Brideshead Revisited, anything by P.G. Wodehouse; more recently, White Teeth, The Goldfinch, Atonement (book and movie), My Brilliant Friend, and Wolf Hall (books first, but also the TV show). In terms of straight movies, Chimaera was the most recent one that moved me deeply; also When Harry Met Sally, the Before trilogy, The Social Network, Inception, the Daniel Craig bond saga but ONLY Casino Royale and Skyfall and the 35 minutes of Quantum of Solace I actually like; The Royal Tenenbaums and The Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Grand Budapest Hotel, and basically anything Wes Anderson before he got too in his own head about shit; Downton Abbey for fun, The Sopranos for different fun, Mad Men for the most fun of all, and Better Call Saul but only in small doses, because otherwise I'll get brain worms and start crawling on the ceiling about stuff. So, uh. That's a start.

Hekatean prayer beads inspired by that described in the Hekataeon, with twenty-nine beads of bone, four brass rattlesnake vertebrae, eight volcanic stone beads, twelve garnet beads, and a brass central medallion, flower bell, and antique key.

Each piece is hand made with unique variations. No two keys, flowers, vertebrae, or beads are identical, and the hand casting techniques that produce the Hekatae talisman (the same two-sided Hekate talisman I sell individually) likewise produce unique results.

These talismans are not consecrated. That task is yours, in accordance with the Book of the White Flame or the instructions provided by your gods and familiar spirits.

Each piece comes with a box to store the talisman in while it is sleeping.

The final drawing is a doodle dump of Ireneo and Maikel mostly, showing such things as: them at a bar, Ireneo’s arm around Maikel’s shoulders as she says, “Hey me & my partner saw you from across the bar and we think your vibe sucks ass. Can we beat you up”, them kissing, Maikel at a pottery wheel while Ireneo watches, their familiars with hearts around them, and finally Maikel holding a phone up to their ear and saying, “Hey could you come pick me up they’re pelting me with rotten fruit in the town square again”. i was on the bus for a while today so it was Reading The Case Files Of Jeweler Richard On The Bus Day (i have gotten through six volumes in this manner), and i gotta say, if any other series had the male co-lead say to the male lead, "i love you. i love you so much, i can't help myself" and have the narrative treat it as 100% platonic, i would've been very frustrated, but fortunately a nice japanese person on twitter has told me that it's just a very very slow burn so instead i get to claw my face off in a good way
