My mother recently got into 9-1-1 and (spoilers if you didn't know) one of the firefighters has a kid with cerebral palsy. He knows he's got it and he's very well cared for etc. Etc.
Anyway, one day the kid gets hurt (I think he was trying to ride a skateboard?? Idk) and his dad is concerned and eventually they have to sit down and have a little talk about things, like his limits and the fact that there will be things that other kids can do that he can't. Etc. You know what I mean.
So it's got me thinking;
Anyone who was born with/developed a disability as a child, did your caregivers have to sit down and have The Talk with you?? How did it go? Was your disability every explained to you or did you have to figure it out yourself? I'm curious.
I know my mother explained like the history of it and all that, but there were certainly things she didn't really/couldn't explain that I could have done with and had to figure out for myself, like pain management on the go and just dealing with ableist assholes.
So. What was it like for you? I've never thought about it before but now it's got me thinking things

Query for fellow clone loving ppl, I gota mystery clone in my bad batch fic who’s gonna need a name and a personality real quick and I’ve only seen up to the citadel arc. Who’s your favourite clone that is:
 1. not part of the batch or team rex at the end of s2 of the bad batch
2. not cody, he’s coming in somewhere else (spoilers if anyone out there is reading it rn)
3. alive at the end of clone wars (most loose rule, because ppl can be revived for fic if we love them enough
OR, do you like OC clones?
This boy will be on the receiving end of some not nice stuff if that helps
thanks y’all

Hiya! To all the lovelies who’ve been reading “Through the Wall,” I got a question. A poll if you will. How many times do you wanna see someone / something get thrown through a wall? I’m still working out plot details so there’s plenty of room for fun hehe :)
more storybuilding nonsense / questions in the tags!

What's more useful for the alt text: a description with context ("This is a screenshot of a character from Final Fantasy XIV...") or just the name plus the quote/title/species when they're relevant ("Bongus Dongus", "Vas Deferens <The Unsevered>", "a roegadyn named Nota Catboy")?

You now have a super power of your choice, you cannot have the same super power that someone else has in the replies/reblogs, what is this most mild inconvenience that comes with it?

As much as I adore conlangs, I really like how the Imperial Radch books handle language. The book is entirely in English but you're constantly aware that you're reading a "translation," both of the Radchaai language Breq speaks as default, and also the various other languages she encounters. We don't hear the words but we hear her fretting about terms of address (the beloathed gendering on Nilt) and concepts that do or don't translate (Awn switching out of Radchaai when she needs a language where "citizen," "civilized," and "Radchaai person" aren't all the same word) and noting people's registers and accents. The snatches of lyrics we hear don't scan or rhyme--even, and this is what sells it to me, the real-world songs with English lyrics, which get the same "literal translation" style as everything else--because we aren't hearing the actual words, we're hearing Breq's understanding of what they mean. I think it's a cool way to acknowledge linguistic complexity and some of the difficulties of multilingual/multicultural communication, which of course becomes a larger theme when we get to the plot with the Presgar Translators.

Sometimes I wonder what vibe my Sammys have
I do try to go for specific ones for every one of them, but I'm not sure if the vibe I'm giving them is the vibe that other people feel from them
So, what vibes do you feel from Darknsweet, Shinypoison and Moonshine?

what if gaster in a future chapter calls out the audience for speculating so much about him. the guy canonically has some amount of access to Real Life Social Media. like i started this mostly as a joke but there are definitely some real metanarrative opportunities for a character with recklessly curious impulses, and possibly a fragile sense of self, having nearly limitless access to streams of debate over whether or not he’s a bastard. rude to talk about someone who’s listening etc
