With the new year coming up my challenge to myself is to read every single comic book that Pietro Maximoff has been in over the course of 2025. I, of course, realise this is going to make me scream into my pillow over bad writing and mourn what could have been almost constantly. Ah, the things I do for love.
We begin this journey with Uncanny X-Men (1963) #4, the first appearances of Pietro and Wanda!
The first time we ever see Pietro and it's him being protective over Wanda, which does basically become his entire character (according to most people) for multiple decades, hell, it still kind of is.
From the very beginning he's hyper-focused on his sister, his argumentative personality coming through by arguing with the Toad and Mastermind about Wanda.
Him decking Mastermind is kind of fun though, love to see it.
I know this is long before the whole Magneto-dad reveal, but I do enjoy how linked together these characters have been from the very beginning.
Again, we're seeing Pietro put Wanda above himself. Her safety is much more important than his own, at least in his mind. Hell, he only decides to stay simply because Wanda does, even when he clearly wants to leave and is fully capable of doing so.
We also learn the origin story where Wanda was being hunted (?) due to her powers and Magneto saved her, Pietro's nowhere to be seen here.
Pietro, yet again, says he's only there for Wanda, even if he has no love for humans either.
I'd like to bring attention to Pietro looking thoroughly unhappy here, he obviously doesn't want to be there with Magneto. For context here, Magneto and the Brotherhood are invading a republic (as Magneto says) and generally being villains, as they are.
Yet, notice Wanda, she has no objections here and even praises these actions. While Pietro is against it all, Wanda is supporting it (although she does question the methods, she quickly agrees). Showing that even from the beginning these twins were always going to be fundamentally different.
Pietro's first ever fight and it's against Angel. Of course, Pietro is faster (he is in fact a blur), but Warren has maneuverability on his side and manages to win by simply causing Pietro to run headfirst into a wall.
Wanda then appears, is quickly sexualised, then causes the ceiling to cave in on Warren. These events also solidifying her misplaced trust in Magneto and his ideals.
After capturing Angel, Cyclops makes his move to attack, which promptly causes Magneto to order Pietro to fight back.
Now before this, Pietro showed awe over Scott's powers, something that no one in the Brotherhood has expressed about an X-Man in this issue so far.
The X-Men manage to escape and with his plans thwarted, Magneto then decides to bomb the country.
Once again, Pietro is the odd man out, the only one there showing concern over the innocents who would die. You can't see from this panel but Wanda is right next to him, she has no verbal objections to this plan.
While she escapes, Wanda does think about how horrible it all is, but she says or does nothing to interfere. In fact, she's trying to rationalise in her mind that Magneto must be bluffing, at least that's what I got from it all.
Opposite to Wanda's blind faith and silent subordination, Pietro, instead of escaping, runs to disable the nuclear bomb. Unable to sit by and let thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands (it's not very clear how big this country is) simply die.
Despite the X-Men witnessing Pietro disable the bomb and trying to talk to him. Pietro still runs away, back to his sister, even if he's against the acts the Brotherhood commits, he won't leave them.
Scott tries to run after Pietro, but Bobby stops him and some drama with Professor X happens, but this isn't about him, it's about Quicksilver.
I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing in how Pietro's characterisation hasn't really changed all that much from his very first issue. The more I think about it, that's definitely a bad thing.
I'm very excited to continue reading and analysing Pietro through the years and hopefully claim my spot as #1 Quicksilver fan in the world.

alarm clock.
sanji x reader
contents; in which you’re having the sloppiest, laziest morning sex with sanji. fluffy smut, piv, creampie, afab!reader, mdni. thought this as a blurb of like 200 to 300 words but then things degenerated & now it’s 1.2k. oops i guess?
masterlist

Silence; the room taking from dark blue to beige.
You rarely wake up in Sanji’s arms—close to never, you dare to say. So when he allows himself the luxury to slack off, you try to make the most of the little amount of time you catch together. This is what is happening now; trying to blink off the sleep from your eyes, simply enjoying each other’s presence.
Then you become aware of Sanji's hand cupping your breasts through your pyjamas. Absently he fiddles with one of your nipples, his breathing a heavy staccato against your nape as his lips trail down to reach your neck. You let out a satisfied hum into the covers. He chuckles in response, a light, dreamy sound that makes you shiver.
“I dreamt about you, mon coeur,” he tells you, all melted sugar as his lashes ghost over your ear.
It's reflexively that you press your back against his chest, embracing the warmth. Your lips part as he adds more pressure to your hardened bud. Still dazed from your sleep, you keep your eyes closed.
“Seems like it was a good dream,” you say.
“Mhm,” his fingertips roll off your chest and further down your stomach. He sounds distracted, but he buzzes with heat, like he’s trying to relive the events passing through him just moments ago in his sleep. It does not take long until you start feeling him under your shirt.
“What was I doing there?” you wonder.
Leaking through his boxers, Sanji's erection is evident as you find yourself moving against him. “You were just so,” hoarse, kissing across your jawline. “Beautiful, my dear. Like you always are.” A moment later, approaching the hem of your pants, he adds, “We had the ship to ourselves, and…”
Your thighs shift in anticipation. “And?”
“You let me touch you,” he says. “From behind, like this,” his fingers touch across your inner thigh and further down your slit, one by one, squelching sounds climbing from the sheets. “Fuck, you’re so wet. A little needy for me already, are we?”
Truth is, you are, wet and needy, like you’ve never been this early in the day. His other hand continues to toy with your breast and now you’re practically grinding yourself against him, focusing on Sanji's throbbing cock into the thin fabric of your pyjamas.
Speaking becomes a little challenging with Sanji’s fingers making diligent circles on your clit. “Just hoping we did more than just touching, mh—in your dream.”
“Oh,” his digits push themselves into a drowsy rhythm, paying special attention to the spots that make your toes curl. “Yeah, there was more.”
The air grows dense with body heat and your sheets are damp. For a minute you allow each other to just lose yourselves to the comfortable press of your skins, touching through your clothes and filling the room with your moans. You feel smooth in Sanji's arms, lit quicksilver, punched out as his fingertips grace your slit with their sugar devotion.
Noticing the desperation with which your hips cling to his crotch, Sanji takes the opportunity to push himself into you, grazing his cock against your pants.
“You want it in, don’t you?” he murmurs, and it’s low, magnetic, barely containing the lust that settled at the bottom of his throat.
Delirious. It makes you delirious.
“I do,” you say, breathless. “I want you so bad.”
“Well you should have it,” Sanji buries his face into your hair as he tugs at the hem of your pants, pulling them off in a fluid motion. His cock springs free from his boxers, too, not wasting much time before brushing himself at your entrance. “I'm all yours, always.”
Despite the growing need he can read in your breathing, Sanji is a man who likes to start slowly, coating his cock in your slick and kissing across your shoulder to reward you for your patience. When he goes in, it’s with a sigh that leaves you in a hypnotic fog. Deeper he drags himself into you, and you whine at the fullness, your thighs damp with traces of your desire for Sanji and his cock and the way he makes you feel like you’re the only ones breathing across these seas. You accommodate fast, almost like you were made for him.
“Goodness, you’re tight,” his lips vibrate on your skin. Moments later he starts up a pace, lethargic and messy as he pulls himself in and out of you, not that either of you seem to care. “Does it feel good, my love?”
“’s so good, Sanji,” rolling your hips against him. “Please don’t stop.”
So he doesn’t, thrusting deeper but not the less slow, mouthing heated praises into your ear. With just as much devotion he touches your breasts and stomach and butt, making sure you know he loves you down to every curve. In return you allow yourself the liberty of letting out the sounds that you know he adores just so. A shoulder slips from the covers, soon followed by an ankle, let sunlight spill in through the window and mix itself with the affection emanated by Sanji's body. This time he pushes himself a little harder than the context requires, skins pressed back together with a slapping sound, and the bed creaks as he does.
“You always take me so well,” he heaves it with so much solemnity, so much love. “So good and sweet it’s driving me crazy.”
You clutch the sheets in your hands, feeling closer and closer to your high with each deep thrust he makes into you. Quivering from the friction, your folds are wrapped tightly around his cock, and Sanji growls wetly into your nape from the electric sensation coming from being milked by your heat.
“Keep up, keep up,” comes out more desperate than you intended. “So close, god.”
Sanji picks up the pace here, buckling his hips with just the perfect amount of strength and using his hand to push two digits round your clit.
“Come for me,” he urges you, sweetly. “Cream around this cock you love so much, my dearest.”
And you come; heavily, loudly, letting yourself go to the waves of pleasure crashing over you like a tempest. You can tell this has Sanji moaning, too, but it’s muffled, distanced from the orgasm he continues to fuck you through. Your head still buzzes as you ride off your peak, and that’s when you notice how close Sanji is from his own, breath trembling, overwhelmed.
“Fuck,” is all he can manage. “Ngh, when you look like that I—” Something snaps within him. Soon there’s warmth spilling into you, dripping off your thighs and onto the sheets. His face collapses at your shoulder blades. You stay like that for a minute, his arms still wrapped around you in a closest embrace. Then he flips you over, and it’s the first time you meet his eyes today—droopy and dull like he just got pulled from a dream.
A smile tugs at his lips. He is soon to scoop you up and clean after the mess he’s made of you. Doing something to these sheets, all wrinkled and drenched in arousal, would be a good idea as well. But before all that, there’s one thing he has to make sure of.
“So what do you want for breakfast, butterfly?”

Nafanya's characters
Masterpost
Aktias/Akti (9 lvl)
Comp.: Flutter, Phosphor, Quicksilver, Dervish, Hunter, Fire, Mosaic, Tangle, Gold
Was born in the settlement. Has a ward named Turine. Works in the Fire Café, manages supplies and recruitment. During his childhood was very active, kind and chatty little one. Growing up his chattiness never went anywhere, but his tongue became sharper. He often has to respond to jokes thrown at him, due to his impressive size mixed with potato's grace, his appearance in the hall is always followed by things knocked off tables and Vincent's outbursts and pleas to go wreak havoc upon his personal office. But, despite his tiny flaw, Akti is great at his job, and overall is too cute to actually be mad at him (^^)
Turine/Turi (5 lvl)
Comp.: Cotton, Ringtail, Fire, Honey, Hunter
A little one nicknamed "Cookie". Looks like a cinnamon roll, is a cinnamon roll. She spends most of her life in the Fire Café next to her mentor and helps with communication between his office and the hall/kitchen when Acti doesn't want to anger Vince with his personal presence :D She loves to watch cooks at work, so she wants to study this job in future.
Valerie/Vallie (11 lvl)
Comp.: Tangle, Cotton, Quicksilver, Dervish, Puddle, Ringtail, Gold, Quantum, Hunter, Flutter, Twin
Madam "Can't sit still". Very well-meaning and active (for her age). Survived the Pandemic at the 4th level, but lost all memories of it with the Lord's help. She's the head of "Voltbrooms" - a team of special cleaners, who use vacuum cleaners powered by themselves (their quicksilver). She regularly works in the Royal Exhibition Hall and other places that require delicate handling. Wards: Solanum and Vanilla
Vanilla/Vannie (5 lvl)
Comp.: Tangle, Dervish, Quicksilver, Puddle, Phosphor
Was born after the Pandemic. First three levels balanced out the next two, Vanilla became much calmer. She attends the choir. After meeting Kiba, she started to show interest in musical instruments at Ongaku's. Valerie's second ward.
Solanum/So (9 lvl)
Comp.: Boom, Tangle, Fire, Ringtail, Batty, Quicksilver, Crystal, Hunter, Puddle
He's a slime with a complex face expression. It might seem he's always grumpy, but actually he's kind and empathetic. Solanum was brought up by Valerie, grew up (and was born from the Lake) with Adonis, who became his closest slime. Currently he doesn't have a certain profession, but he helps Adonis in bringing up a ward.
Adonis/Donie/Do (9 lvl)
Comp.: Honey, Tangle, Puddle, Pink, Phosphor, Gold, Mosaic, Tabby, Quicksilver
Was born after the Pandemic, at the same time with Solanum. He was brought up in love and prosperity, so he grew up to be very gentle and kind. Since childhood Donie loved to read books about botany and gardening, later he turned his passion into his job and now he works in the Greenhouse. Recently he got a ward, who he surrounds in care with Solanum.
Lofius/Lofi (8 lvl)
Comp.: Angler, Rock, Puddle, Ringtail, Hunter, Quicksilver, Phosphor, Rad
Was born after the Pandemic. An enthusiastic slime, who loves to poke fun at everyone (and sometimes it helps him to get out of unforseen situations :) ) After a calm Anemone he became almost a challenge to his mentor, but she handled him with flying colors. Despite looking like a loafer, he actually takes helping his partner from "Voltbrooms" very seriously.
Ygritte/Agnes/Sparkle (11 level)
Comp.: Cotton, Honey, Fire, Ringtail, Puddle, Gold, Mosaic, Tabby, Phosphor, Quantum, Algae
Kind and sympathetic she, while still a "teenager", could calm and entice even the most restless little ones. During the Pandemic she was 10th level and helped to evacuate wards to safety, after that she was one of slimes who watched over them on the moon, while others were arranging everything under the dome. She was entrusted with Anemone, since she was close friends with Rododenrone and knew the little one personally. As of now, Agnes still works with wards, and is still close to Anemone and Valerie. Wards: Anemone and Lofius
Anemone/Anie (18 lvl)
Comp.: Hunter, Tabby, Puddle, Batty, Fire, Gold, Tangle, Honey, Phosphor, Dervish, Mosaic, Quicksilver, Quantum, Rad, Sable, Ringtail, Angler, Pink
"Are my plans crazy? Well yes, they are…" - was the phrase that Anemone told Lycoris as she was going to the 10th level with Dervish she borrowed from him as a symbol of their old friendship. Ani was born as Hunter in the Moss Blanket, grew up with Valerie. She was only level 6 when the Pandemic started. Anemone was severely affected by the loss of her mentor (she still has nightmares about it). Next 3 levels were taken in memory of Rododendrone. She founded an art school where she personally teaches. She loves little ones just like her mentor did and never minds watching over them. An important chapter of her life, that turned things for the better, was appearance of little Rodona. In public she's grave serious, at home she's the moon's kindest "mommy". Wards: Adonis, Rodona, Solanium and Vanilla (first two are officially, in lives of second two she was an active participant)
Rododenrone/Roda (9 lvl)
Comp.: Pink, Phosphor, Puddle, Tabby, Honey, Fire, Dervish, Tangle, Gold
She always was very compassionate, cheerful and empathetic, tried to help everyone. Worked at daycare and watched over little ones. Really loved flowers and flower tea with phase lemons. Unfortunately, she died during the Pandemic, which was a heavy blow for her ward. During her life she was taking care of Anemone and Valerie.
Rodone/Ronie (3 lvl)
Comp.: Pink, Rock, Puddle
A little one who was born in the garden near Anemone's school. Became Anemone's sunshine and a ward by a fluke. Surrounded in her mentors' love.

These were my entries to Pragmagik's Legendary Beast of every type contest, and while none of them made the cut, I still absolutely love each of the Pokemon I made for this challenge. You guys think maybe one or two of them should be Mulvera canon at some point? More details about these guys down below
(Top Left) Sodeshi, the Fighting Type Legendary beast and The Student Pokemon Sodeshi trains its body to be as focused as possible, to the point it keeps the bell on its head still through any movement. It aims to become as powerful as the legendary beasts through its own power. (Top Middle) Yokana, the Bug Type Legendary beast and The Nymph Pokemon Yokana, unlike the other legendary beasts, doesn't run around the regions for reasons unknown. It prefers to relax and take its time, and also use its tail as bait for fishing. (Top Right) Mesako, the Ground type Legendary beast and the Mesa Pokemon Mesako act's as Ho-Oh's keeper of knowledge and history. The many layers that make up its back are said to hold thousands of years of historical documents that only Ho-oh can read. (Mid Left) Nekorei, the Ghost type Legendary beast and The Wandering Soul Pokemon Nekorei was once a great ally and friend of Ho-Oh who perished in a tragic accident. Nekorei was born from the soul of the fallen pokemon, following Ho-oh's trail as it questions why Ho-Oh failed to revive it like it did with the pokemon in the Burnt Tower (Center) Fafkishi, The Dragon Type Legendary beast and The Wyrm Pokemon Fafkishi radiates powerful Draconic energy, leaping across the land in a red blur so fast that people believe it flies. People leave it gifts of metals that it adores in return for its protection. It's believed Fafkishi represents the Legend that the Burnt Tower's tale became. (Mid Right) Nomizen, The Poison Type Legendary Beast and the Plague Bringer Pokemon Nomizen is said to spread tragedy like a plague, seeping a poison into the earth so great and terrible people akin it to liquid misery. It's long dirty fur collects and sheds toxic flakes. It's believed to be a representation of the tragedy itself of the Tower, though no one is sure if Nomizen is actually to blame. (Bottom Left) Kumoyo, The Flying type Legendary Beast and the Serene Night Pokemon Kumoyo dashes across the tops of clouds at night, often being seen as a soft light through the sky. Kumoyo is said to represent the peaceful night after the fire was put out, and as a sign from Ho-Oh that tragedies do eventually end. (Bottom Middle) Caitshi, the Rock Type Legendary Beast and the Valorant Pokemon Some stories say that the stones on Caitshi's back each represent a fallen warrior. Caitshi was brought to life from the soul of a hero after the original trio, to act as a guardian of the weak and as a thank you to those who helped save others during the Burning of the Brass Tower. (Bottom Right) Korosei, the Steel Type Legendary Beast and the Quicksilver Pokemon Korosei is a somber pokemon, dripping with mercury that flows along its back. It was born from the melted metal remains of the tower, as well as the sorrow of those left behind in the blaze. It has no ill will, however, as it has no anger. All it seeks to be is remembered and known.

Is Pietro a sociopath? Bc I read this thing from RomaPop that repeatedly calls him one but I don’t remember reading anything like that?
https://hopeburnsbright.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/romapop-booklet-2016.pdf
I'm not an expert on psychiatry or personality disorders, so please take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt.
No, I do not believe that Pietro has ASPD or any related condition. I don't believe that the text properly supports that, and I don't believe that it would be a correct interpretation of the character based on my admittedly limited understanding of the matter at hand. In Scarlet Witch (2015), Wanda and Pietro get into a fight and she accuses him of being a "textbook sociopath." I believe that this terminology was misused and incorrectly applied, and I believe that this statement, much like Wanda's earlier diagnosis of "schizophrenia" in House of M, contradicts prior continuity and character treatments. Since then, I do not believe that notion of Pietro being a "sociopath" has been revisited.
A lot has been said in modern comics about both Wanda and Pietro's mental health, but a lot of it has been pathologizing and ableist, with an unspoken racial element that leaves a very poor taste in my mouth. Obviously, that includes HoM and the 2000s in general, which was just a really destructive period for both characters, but I think it also includes a lot of Peter David's earlier depictions of Pietro and the way his powers affect his behavior.
I tend to get kinda touchy when people want to ascribe certain conditions to either twin, because the material that this perception is based off of is often harmful or just inaccurate, and I think it gets in the way of actually exploring the more compelling, meaningful aspects of Wanda and Pietro's mental health or trauma. When it comes to these specific labels, like "sociopath," which have been applied to them in the past, I would rather disregard those statements, and maybe retcon them by having characters to talk about why they said, that while acknowledging that it was incorrect or misinformed.
For me, the gold standard of modern Pietro characterization is still Quicksilver: No Surrender, which takes a much more realistic and sympathetic approach to the character and all his flaws by focusing how the isolation and trauma he's experienced has caused him to develop unhealthy patterns. From there, maybe we can start to develop more specific language and diagnoses for the mental health challenges he and Wanda face, but I want it to be about their actual lives, not their powers.
And I should say, I believe very, very strongly, that stigmatized personality disorders deserve to be represented with humanity, dignity, and empathy. I just don't believe that this has ever been the case with this character.
I'm familiar with RomaPop and Vicente Rodriguez's work. I think there's a tendency for activists to speak about comic books and other typically niche media without necessarily developing advanced literacy in that media. I've noticed that a lot of people who, you know, do very good work discussing Romani issues, tend to make erroneous statements about comic book characters like Pietro, Wanda, Magneto, Nightcrawler, etc. because, I mean, they probably haven't read all the material. It takes a lot of time and commitment to become familiar with comic book lore and develop a clear editorial perspective on it.

Character challenge for @asongofgoldenfireandblackblood
Challenge: Write a scene or a breakdown of your characters first love and/or childhood love.

💛🌙💛
————————————————————-
Helaena had never been much of a reader in her life. She had always preferred creating beautiful embroidery designs or playing with the small bugs that she searched for outside to sticking her nose in a book. Nothing she had read had ever truly caught her interest, that much had been true, until now.
She was ten and two, a Princess of the realm, and newly bonded to the dragon Dreamfyre. Dreamfyre had become her new obsession, a companion who she spent hours of the day with. The blue horned dragon had a calm temper, but was very protective over the Princess and loved to fly as well as to bask in the evening sun. She was beautiful, Helaena thought, and felt a love for this beast she had never known. But she was not the first to ride Dreamfyre, and that left Helaena extremely curious about her previous rider.
Helaena had searched the library for any books or documents mentioning Rhaena Targaryen, daughter of King Aenys Targaryen and Queen Alyssa Velaryon. The original rider of her beloved Dreamfyre had lived a complicated life, Helaena knew, and she wanted to know as much about Dreamfyre and Rhaena as possible. She wanted to feel closer to her dragon, as well as honor the rider before her.
After searching to find the perfect book, Helaena had finally settled on a small historical recording, one written by some Maester that Helaena was not interested in. She feverishly flipped through the pages, soaking in every bit of information she encountered. The book’s pages were in perfect condition, indicating that it had not been touched very often. The information this book held was everything Helaena had wanted and needed to know, and once she had gone through all of the words, she did not want to part with it.
Helaena’s eyes scanned the library, seeing if anyone she knew who would scold her for her behavior was around. Once she deemed the area clear, she stuffed the small work of history in her dress, quickly making an escape to her bedroom. Please forgive me, Seven, and mother, I need this book!
Finally making it to her chambers, she plopped herself onto her bed, hiding under the covers as she brought the book out again. This was no ordinary history, no, it was a part of Helaena’s life now, she thought. Her family before her that was connected through more than just blood, but a dragon. She had to engrave these words into her memory.
Her dark violet eyes read the names “Rhaena” as well as “Aegon” over and over again, until she came to a sudden realization. I am also going to marry my brother, who is also named Aegon! The young Princess smiled to herself, feeling even more connected to these pages than she had before.
She flipped the pages until she found more information about Aegon, who had been deemed “Aegon the Uncrowned.” The husband of the original rider of Dreamfyre, Rhaena and Aegon had twin children, and Helaena wondered if she would ever have twins. The couple had a terribly tragic story, but Aegon had been brave and defended his family until the end. Rhaena had been a brave and strong figure as well. Helaena did not consider herself anything like Rhaena, but she could hope to be that way when she was older.
But then her thoughts shifted away from herself and to Aegon once again, both of the Aegons, that is. Aegon the Uncrowned had been so brave, described as very handsome, and had claimed the dragon Quicksilver. I want to have a husband like him! Still under her covers, Helaena closed the book, wondering. She and her own Aegon were not close, so she could not be exactly sure of his true qualities…
She did know how he was, how their parents got mad at him more than any of their siblings, how he seemed to be more interested in running off and doing who knows what rather than attending to his duties. But she did not know if he was brave in his heart, yet there were still other things she knew about him. She thought about his face in her mind, imagining his long hair and features that resembled their parents. I think him handsome, and at dinner I will make sure to look closer at him.
Helaena thought about his dragon, Sunfyre. She began to hug her book, smiling big again. Our dragons have similar names… She began to wonder how he came about for the name of Sunfyre, and if it had anything to do with Dreamfyre. Her brother had a special bond with his dragon, she understood that well enough. He seemed to like his dragon more than anyone, and now that she was a dragon rider she understood that.
Her eyes closed now, imagining herself with a brave dragonrider who had a handsome face and would fight for her. She moved over onto her side, still hugging the book. She felt her silver hair fall over her face, and her dress felt uncomfortable to lie down in. But she payed no mind to these insignificant things as she continued to think about Dreamfyre, Queen Rhaena, Aegon the uncrowned, and her own Aegon. The thoughts began to slow, and her imagining faded into the dark as she drifted off to sleep, tired from her extensive research and flying she had done throughout the day. Though she did not plan on it, she would repeat this all on the morrow, starting her day by riding Dreamfyre and ending it by holding her new beloved book.

OCKiss Day 5: Darkness
Auden and Tainu.
This one got a little suggestive towards the end so I'm gonna put it under a cut. Tai is a former assassin who is trying to figure out how to live after escaping a scary situation. Through some sparring and mutual attraction, him and Auden start hooking up.
___________
If Auden sought Tainu out before meals it was because he wanted something. So when he appeared at Tai's guard post beside the back entrance of the house, a few minutes before lunch, he hadn't been surprised.
"It's so quiet back here, I almost fell asleep." Tai said, stretching his arms above his head as they walked. Auden chuckled beside him.
"Be careful, Ro will get onto you." He touched Tai's shoulder and it slowly wandered down his back, making him shiver and his tail lash. He shot Auden a knowing look, his quicksilver eyes gleamed even more.
He had no idea how someone hadn't found them out yet, or maybe they had and were just too polite to say anything. What with Auden's brother in charge of the house. Tai pushed the thought away as Auden guided him back into a secluded room.
"How much time do we have?" He asked as Auden crowded into the dark closet with him. Folded towels and tablecloths laid on shelves lining the back wall, some sort of linen closet it seemed.
"A few minutes, five at most."
"That's not much." Tai said, his eyes quickly adjusting to the little light coming from underneath the door. Auden chuckled lowly, the sound making his knees weak.
"Are you underestimating me, Tai?" He murmured, pushing him up against the wall.
"Prove me wrong then." He challenged.

My challenge continues with Uncanny X-Men (1963) #5!
We started with the X-Men dealing with Professor X losing his powers, but that's unimportant as we learn Pietro can apparently fly planes. I'm also unsure if this is when Asteroid M was first introduced in comics, but that appears to be where this issue is set.
The Brotherhood are searching for the X-Men and failing, causing Magneto to be incredibly aggressive and rude, but it's to Toad so apparently it's okay.
Being rude to Pietro, however, I find inexcusable. Asshole.
But, do notice Pietro being more avoidant, not wanting to fight the X-Men again. Also notice that Wanda immediately backs up Pietro due to him saying what she has been thinking this whole time, yet not brave enough to say verbally. It's once again showing how Pietro is the more proactive twin while Wanda follows behind, something I'm excited to see change in later comics.
The Brotherhood had come up with a plan to get Toad to pose as an innocent Mutant that the X-Men could save, however Beast picks up on it midway through their journey on public transport (???). Very off topic, but I cannot imagine seeing the X-Men on a train, I'd personally freak out harder than I ever have before.
Back on topic, Toad goes to run away and the rest of the Brotherhood appears, with Quicksilver being the last one to show. I don't know if it's a coincidence but I am a fan of how Cyclops and Quicksilver keep running into each other specifically.
A direct quote from Pietro, which I find hilarious; "Blast it! I didn't realise he could use his beam while I was holding his arms!" I apparently have severely overestimated Pietro's intelligence.
For context, Magneto decided to trade Toad for Angel and is now keeping Angel in Asteroid M. I know this series isn't about Wanda, but when talking about Pietro, she's necessary to speak of as well.
So, Wanda still having this faith in Magneto, that he wouldn't ever kill someone, is fascinating in a way. She wants so fully to believe in the man who saved her, even to the point of ignoring nearly every single red flag he's shown.
Despite how terrible Magneto is to Wanda at every given moment, she follows him despite it all.
The X-Men have infiltrated Asteroid M now and Magneto is once again promoting murder, to which Wanda disagrees. For the first time now, Wanda actually acts against Magneto and hexes the control panel, making it impossible for him to open the air lock.
He goes to threaten Wanda and Pietro immediately steps in to protect her, as he always does.
That line from Pietro is probably the most defining line that could be used for him. His entire character is basically a tool specifically for keeping Wanda safe, it's how writers treat him and it's how he seems to view himself. His self-worth is tied up completely in how of worth he can be to his sister, I would love it if this could be explored, but I don't think it ever really is.
The X-Men then attack, cutting the family drama short and once again putting Cyclops and Quicksilver together, something I am growing to love.
Scott tries to talk Pietro into joining the X-Men and the only reason Pietro refuses is because Magneto saved his sister, that he owes Magneto for that. Again, tying Pietro's self-worth to Wanda.
Now, we see Pietro's trust issues in full blast, he truly believes he has no one except for Wanda. The differences in Wanda, so scared that she forces herself to trust people who never should be, compared to Pietro, who completely and utterly refuses to trust anyone.
Scott manages to grab Pietro, making Magneto demand Wanda put a hex on Scott. Wanda refuses and then that's kind of it for a while. Next we see Magneto and Wanda, they've seemingly left Scott and Pietro to grapple each other on the floor, which is... strange.
Then Magneto runs into Pietro and Scott on the floor and appears to be surprised by it? As if he hadn't just left them behind to fight alone. He punches Scott off of Pietro and simply throws him to his potential death, which he couldn't done a lot earlier.
And that's it for Pietro, as the X-Men escape after saving Scott and leave the Asteroid behind.

Title: Ultraviolet/Quicksilver
Author: R J Anderson
~~~~~~~~~~
‘Once upon a time there was a girl who was special. This is not her story. Unless you count the part where I killed her.’
Sixteen-year-old Alison has been sectioned in a mental institute for teens, having murdered the most perfect and popular girl at school. But the case is a mystery: no body has been found, and Alison's condition is proving difficult to diagnose.
Alison herself can't explain what happened: one minute she was fighting with Tori – the next she disintegrated. Into nothing. But that's impossible. Right?
When Alison meets Dr Faraday, a visiting psychologist, she feels an instant connection. More, he believes her story. But there's more to Faraday than Alison can possibly imagine…and the answers he will give her are extraordinary.
~~~~~~~~~~
‘Once I was a girl who was special. Now I am extraordinary. And they will never stop hunting me.’
Back in her hometown, Tori Beaugrand had everything a teenage girl could want - popularity, money, beauty. But she also had a secret. A secret that could change her life in an instant, or destroy it.
Now she’s left everything from her old life behind, including her real name and Alison, the one friend who truly understood her. She can’t escape who and what she is, and if she wants to have anything like a normal life, she has one last shot at getting her enemies off her trail and winning the security and independence she’s always longed for.
But saving herself will take every ounce of Tori’s incredible electronics and engineering skills - and even then, she may need to sacrifice more than she could possibly imagine if she wants to be free.
~~~~~~~~~~
It was so weird coming back and reading Ultraviolet again through the lens of having two degrees in psychology (and an extra decade of life) under my belt – I actually found myself understanding and even sympathising with the medical staff this time around, and in turn disliking Alison, Ultraviolet’s POV character. I’m aware that involuntary institutionalisation is incredibly controversial (and ineffective!), but I can’t really fault the actions of the doctors who, as written, genuinely seem to be trying to help (as much as they can when they’re missing the part of the story where there’s aliens, but still!).
Comparatively, Quicksilver was completely new to me – I didn’t even realise there was a sequel! I can’t say I enjoyed it all that much, certainly not as much as I remember liking the first book as a preteen – it’s not bad by any means, it’s just an odd mix of teenage angst and shaky science fiction, with a sprinkling of not-quite-eugenics mixed in. I do have to give it props for making Tori/Niki (the POV character for Quicksilver) canonically asexual, even though there’s a couple places where it was handled in a way that made me 😬.
I also have to give the author credit for introducing me to the concept of synaesthesia, which is the biggest thing I remembered about Ultraviolet. However, I have to admit I found the premise of Alison being unable to trust her senses more compelling than the hard turn into sci-fi that the story takes halfway through the first book (and definitely more compelling than the ‘romance’ that we’re supposed to root for – alien or not, the ideal partner for the sixteen-year-old protagonist of the first book is NOT the twenty-something-year-old volunteer at the psychiatric hospital she’s an involuntary patient of!)
Content warnings for adult/minor relationship, amputation, doctor/patient relationship, drug use, forced institutionalisation, kidnapping, mental illness, sexual assault, and suicide attempt.
AB de Villiers: The Mr. 360 of IPL
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed the rise and reign of numerous cricketing legends, each leaving an indelible mark on the tournament's rich history. Among these titans, one name resonates with a unique blend of audacity, innovation, and sheer brilliance: AB de Villiers. Affectionately known as Mr. 360°, the South African maestro captivated audiences with his unparalleled ability to score runs all around the wicket, redefining modern batting and etching his name as an IPL icon.
The Genesis of a Legend: AB de Villiers' IPL Journey
AB de Villiers' association with the IPL began in its inaugural season, and his impact was immediate and profound. Representing the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in his initial years, he showcased glimpses of his extraordinary talent. However, it was his move to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) that truly unlocked his legendary status in the league. Donning the red and gold, ABD became the cornerstone of the RCB batting lineup for over a decade, forming a formidable partnership with Virat Kohli that enthralled fans across the globe.
His tenure with RCB was characterized by breathtaking innings, gravity-defying shots, and an uncanny knack for turning the tide of a match single-handedly. The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore became his playground, where he consistently defied expectations and entertained with his unconventional yet highly effective batting style. The roar of the crowd whenever he walked out to bat was a testament to the anticipation and excitement he generated.
Decoding the "Mr. 360°" Phenomenon
The moniker "Mr. 360°" wasn't bestowed upon AB de Villiers lightly. It was a recognition of his extraordinary ability to hit the ball to any part of the ground with equal ease and power. Unlike traditional batsmen who primarily target areas in front of the wicket, ABD possessed an unparalleled range of shots that allowed him to access every corner of the boundary.
From audacious scoops over his shoulder for sixes behind the wicketkeeper to powerful reverse sweeps against fast bowlers and elegant flicks off his legs for boundaries on the leg side, his batting repertoire was a spectacle in itself. He could effortlessly switch between classical cricketing strokes and innovative improvisations, making it virtually impossible for bowlers to set a field against him. His agility at the crease, quicksilver reflexes, and exceptional hand-eye coordination were the foundations of this unique batting prowess.
His blistering 133 off just 59 balls against the Mumbai Indians in 2015:* This innings, which included 19 fours and 4 sixes, was a masterclass in power-hitting and innovation, leaving the opposition bewildered. His partnership of 215 runs with Virat Kohli in this match remains one of the most memorable in IPL history.
His incredible 79 off 47 balls against the Gujarat Lions in 2016:* In a crucial qualifier, ABD rescued RCB from a precarious situation with a breathtaking display of controlled aggression, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.
His numerous last-over heroics: De Villiers had a knack for finishing games in style, often hitting crucial boundaries and sixes in the final overs when the pressure was at its peak. His ability to remain calm and execute his shots under pressure made him a nightmare for opposition bowlers.
His gravity-defying catches in the field: Beyond his batting exploits, ABD was also an exceptional fielder, capable of pulling off stunning catches that defied gravity. His athleticism and commitment in the field added another dimension to his all-round brilliance.
The Impact and Legacy of AB de Villiers on the IPL
AB de Villiers' impact on the IPL extends far beyond his statistical achievements. He brought a unique brand of entertainment that captivated a global audience. His innovative batting inspired a generation of cricketers to explore unconventional shots and expand their own batting arsenals. He demonstrated that power-hitting could be combined with elegance and finesse.
His sportsmanship and humility also earned him immense respect from fans and fellow cricketers alike. He was a true ambassador of the game, always playing with passion and a smile on his face. His partnership with Virat Kohli at RCB was not just about scoring runs; it was about camaraderie, mutual respect, and a shared desire to win, creating a lasting bond that resonated with fans.
While AB de Villiers has retired from all forms of cricket, his legacy in the IPL remains firmly entrenched. He is remembered as one of the most exhilarating and impactful players to have ever graced the league. His name will forever be synonymous with innovation, brilliance, and the sheer joy of watching cricket. The IPL will always cherish the memories of Mr. 360° electrifying the stadiums with his extraordinary talent.
Conclusion: Forever Mr. 360° of the IPL
AB de Villiers was more than just a cricketer in the IPL; he was an experience. His batting was a spectacle, his fielding was breathtaking, and his presence on the field was always captivating. He redefined what was possible with the bat and left an indelible mark on the tournament. Even in his absence, the echoes of his incredible shots and match-winning performances continue to resonate, reminding us why he will forever be remembered as Mr. 360°, the man who illuminated the IPL with his unique brilliance. His contributions have enriched the league's history and continue to inspire players and fans alike.
Reading and gaming update time!
Hubby and I basically wrapped up everything we wanted to do in D4. I am not about that end game grind treadmill, but he stuck it out a bit longer. He is now off doing his own thing (Helldivers 2), and I am giving Lies of P another swing thanks to an easy mode mod. Now, before everybody comes for with their pitchforks. I am 36 years old (oh god). I work full time. I have another very time consuming hobby. Ain't nobody got time to bang their heads against a boss 60 times before they get the RNG just right to kill them. Souls-like games are usually not my jam, but I really, really loved the feels of Lies of P, so I was pretty excited when I heard that somebody had jailbroke the easy mode the devs had put in the game. I certainly have not been flying through the game anyway. I am about 60% through, and I think I have one of the most challenging bosses in the game up next.
On the reading front I said that I needed a break from shadow daddies after finishing Quicksilver, so with very little research I started the Plated Prisoner series. It started out really well, everybody seemed to be human, and then in walked a shadow daddy. Oh well. I am on book 4, so that tells you how good I am at taking a break from reading about shadow daddies. I think I read the first 3 in 2 weeks? I blazed through them. The 4th one I am moving a bit slower on just because it feels like the series could have easily of been wrapped up in book 3 if she had paced some things a little differently. Book 4 is starting out feeling like it's just dragging out the story for no reason. I have been told to stick it out and that things start to pick up and get really good. They better because the next 3 books are thicc.
Just out of curiosity but do you read/ hc pietro as neurodivergent? I know it’s a popular hc among fans and there’s certainly some moments that lend to that interpretation (plus I see a bit of myself and my brother in him so personally I hc he has mild autism) but I was wondering if you had any of your own thoughts on it, or for Wanda for that matter?
Yes, but it's complicated. Pietro and Wanda are both characters who spend a lot of time grappling with complex trauma, generational trauma, mental illness, and what are clearly meant to be read as neurological differences. I struggle with many of those things myself, and as a Romani person with an immigrant background, I get a lot out of reading these characters through that lens. It's an intrinsic part of what makes them so human and compelling to me, especially as part of a larger, intergenerational tapestry of mixed-race immigrants and survivors. These issues are a part of our heritages and histories, so I want that to be reflected in the characters who represent me.
I think it's hard to talk about neurodivergence or mental illness-- which, of course, are not the same thing, I just mean that the conversations tend to overlap-- with Wanda and Pietro because this is already, textually, part of the characters, but it's been implemented in really messy ways.
For both of them, their primary mental health challenges and neurological differences are treated as extensions or results of their powers. There is an allegorical element that gets in the way of literal representation. This sort of thing is very common in superhero comics, and I've written about it before regarding transness and genderfluidity. It's entirely possible to still write meaningful and resonant representation, but I don't know if I feel comfortable saying "Pietro is autistic"when the text is saying he doesn't have autism, he has a super-speed-mutation-brain. Does that make sense?
The other problem is that the material that introduced these elements to the characters is really problematic. I'm sure I don't have to explain why House of M is an ableist and sexist narrative, but a lot of people seem to overlook the fact that the depiction of Wanda as a person with specific mental illnesses is rooted in a harmful, ableist storyline. Specifically, the way that schizoaffective disorders are defined and pathologized in Disassembled is cruel, inaccurate, and just unacceptable. That tone is still echoed in a lot of modern comics when Wanda's mental health is addressed.
In addition, I really don't like to put too much stock in the whole "Pietro Maximoff Syndrome" thing from X-Factor. For one thing, Peter David is a hateful, vocal anti-Romani racist, and it is reflected in a lot of his choices with Pietro. While this direction did humanize and justify some of Pietro's personality flaws, I do feel that the tone was overall very derisive towards him.
In Scarlet Witch (2016), Wanda talks about going to therapy and taking antidepressants, and in Quicksilver: No Surrender (2018), Pietro talks about his complex trauma responses in a way that's specifically grounded to the reality of being a severely marginalized person of color. These are the best examples of how their mental health has been addressed-- they bypass the powers and allegory and just allow the characters to inhabit real experiences that actually deserve representation.
That said, it doesn't really represent neurodivergence the same way. I think that's a subject that superhero comics have been dancing around for a long time, but haven't quite figured out how to reckon with. I really hope its something we'll see more positive growth towards, in the future.
