I head-canon that Monoma has a part time job as a quirk specialist and/or counselor. Because of his quirk, he's able to quickly analyze what a quirk is and how to use it effectively and efficiently. So when a kid's first quirk comes in and they are unsure of what it is or someone in general has a hard time controlling their quirks, Monoma will help them by copying the quirk and help them figure out what it is, how to use/controll it, etc...
Monoma was inspired to start this side career when Aizawa asked him that one time to copy Eri's quirk so they could figure out more about it (it is one of my favorite parts in the series).
Side note: Monoma is as much of a quirk nerd as Midoriya is, notebooks and all (he's just a bit more subtle about it lol). During school, Midoriya and him would have long discussions about quirks and their applications, bouncing off ideas, comparing and exchanging notes, etc... And even after school, they try to meet up at least once a month to catch up and discuss quirks. If one of Monoma's patient's quirk is particularly perplexing, he will call Midoriya for a 2nd opinion, and vice versa with Midoriya's students.

Hawks is actually a hummingbird change my mind
ā his whole schtick is that heās speedy. Hummingbirds are so fast you have to film them with high speed cameras

ā his janky wing shape. Hummingbirds only have one wing joint, whereas most birds have two

ā colour. Hawks donāt have vibrant red wings, but hummingbirds can

ā tiny guy. Heās so fucking tiny look at him

But "The Hummingbird Hero" doesnāt sound like a very powerful representative of the HPSC, does it?

Something interesting I was thinking about that I haven't really seen people talk about is the parallels between Monoma and Aizawa's quirks.
They both even the playing field with their opponent. Erasure makes many opponents quirks functionally quirkless while active, and Copy turns the opponents powers against them (assuming Monoma copies his opponents quirk and isn't using his allies instead)
Both, and this is what got me on this train of thought in the first place, affect or are affected by the recipients quirk genes. We know Aizawa can only shut off the part that makes the quirk active, barring mutant types. Monoma can only copy the base quirk
And because of that, Monoma can't carry over the energy stored in a stockpiling type like Midoriya's One for All and Eri's Rewind. Energy isn't part of the base genetic code. Aizawa can't affect a quirks energy store either. Even though he can erase Izuku and Eri's quirks, he can only make them inactive. He's not able to erase the power that's been stored in One for All, and when he erase's Eri's quirk, she doesn't lose any of the energy stored in her horn.
Both quirks can have some range (Aizawa just needs to see his opponent and Monoma can copy ranged quirks) but both lean more towards close quarters combat. Aizawa because he'll still get attacked while using Erasure (his binding cloth does help with this) and Monoma if he's trying to copy his opponent's quirk (or even if he isn't, a quirk may be close range)
Both quirks require a fairly great level of technique to use effectively. Aizawa has to be able to hold his eyes open during combat, and must be proficient at the combat itself. Monoma likewise needs good combat and agility (we see both characters demonstrate this) as well as be able to proficiently use any quirk he has copied, one of the best example being his use of Poltergeist.
Idk, just some food for thought

If you recall, the quirk singularity theory established that quirks will become uncontrollable one day, following the rate at how they were increasing in power and the inability of the body to keep up with such growth. The best example of the veracity of such theory is Tomura Shigaraki and the way his body has morphed in order to accommodate the strength of his quirk, right?
My question is: Have Toga and Dabi breached the quirk singularity point? Could that be the reason why Toga became able to use the quirk of the people she shape-shifts into, the reason why Dabi's alive and his body seems to regenerate a little or at least withstand the rate of destruction he inflicts on himself?

Random thought but wouldnt hawks wings take alot of focus just to stay in a form he can fly in??
like- think abt it mans has hundreds of detachable feathers on him but whenever they go off somewhere else there is never any wing muscle to reattach to. he basically has to control all those feathers to move in any slight direction he goes and move them forward with him or risk falling to his death.
ik ppl say heās overrated bc hes hot and op but lets give my mans some more credit srsly lol

I'm curious, did Kai prove that quirks are a generational disease?
Eri has the ability to turn back time on a piece of physical matter, she could take the scratch on someone's knee and rewind it to a time before it happend. But didn't Kai say somewhere that she could even turn back evolution, that she could turn a human back into a monkey?
Then I was sitting here thinking, if Kai used Eri's quirk to rewind the evolution of quirk DNA, then how come his first batch was only temporary? Then I came to the conclusion that perhaps he simply rewinded the quirk activation part of the brain to before it knew how to activate a quirk. Which would prove the theory that as people grow inside the womb, the quirk factor also develops, so when your born, you're born with the quirk you have. For example, Bakugou didn't "develop" his bomb quirk during kindergarten, his brain simply didn't know how to activate it until around the age of five, he always had the quirk, his brain simply wouldn't allow him to use it.
(Extra thoughts // The first known quirk was a glowing baby. That baby's quirk activation was working as a newborn. Maybe that happened to all newborns with quirks in the beginning, maybe those with more dangerous quirks died as soon as they were born because of it. That would be enough to spark an evolutionary change in DNA.)
That explains the temporary serum. Now for that permanent one, that would have to be the rewind of quirk evolution if it's true that you are born with quirks DNA. But how would that prove that quirks are a generational disease? Given that Kai was still believing in the quirk disease theory after he produced the permanent serum is one clue. Surely he would've found out whether or not quirks are a disease after working with the evolution of quirks, seeing for himself the steps quirk DNA took before it became what it is now.
Maybe that's why Afo seems so cautious around him. Afo knows that Kai knows what quirks really are and how to destroy them... it is way too late for these type of thoughts...

So I had a thought, Ik Ik, thatās usually not a good thing, this time I think it is though
I think I had an idea for what fuyumis quirk could be
Fuyumi is obviously one of my favourites, and I think she can draw heat of our things, she canāt make ice or fire, but she can pull heat out of other things and into herself, and sheās heat resistant, maybe even fully fire resistant, and the things around her that she pulls heat from are made colder
If she was never taught to control it, maybe she pulls heat out of things on accident, like if she touches someone they come away feeling cold, or maybe the air around her is always freezing
Also adds a cool second dimension, if she canāt produce her own heat, so she had to take it from other sources, not literally she produces no heat, her body temp is just really low and she canāt regulate it
#it would have also made her the perfect quirk counter to Dabi#idk#I just think itās neat and might fit her#bnha#mha#todoroki family#fuyumi todoroki#quirk#quirk analysis#quirk theory#headcanon#mha headcanons#quirk headcanon

What if Kai actually is germaphobic because of his quirk? He senses what things are made of when he touches things right? So he wears the gloves to protect himself from being able to use his quirk, but also because if he doesnāt he feels all the germs on whatever surfaces he touches?

The existence of Shoto Todoroki's quirk (mha) is weird because assuming Rei and Enji Todoroki's quirks were unrelated, it implies that children can inherit a half-and-half quirk that includes both their parents quirks.
You might think 'Ok so what?' but imagine being born to parents who have not so compatible quirks.
For example, your parents have an electricity quirk and one that allows the user to change their eye colour. You'd think you'd get the electricity quirk but you eyes change colour when you use it, or maybe just one of your parents quirks.
But alas, no.
You end up being able to produce electricity on your left side, and change your eye colour, except only on your right. Maybe if you're really unlucky, you won't get electricity resistance on the right (kinda like dabi and fuyumi) so you just end up shocking yourself when the different sides touch.
Ouch. (mentally and physically)
The way quirk theory and evolution is presented in the show is really interesting but its a huge shame it doesn't get outlined more in the show. It would be interesting if Horikoshi started a quirk theory segment or add-on that explored it more, like Midoriya's notebooks or something.
#mha#quirk theory#shoto todoroki#my hero academia#3am thoughts#no but like imagine having parents with one combative quirk and one effectively useless quirk#and you think 50/50 becoming a hero or an accountant#and the life throws you a curve ball so now you've got 2 part time jobs

Ambient quirks (take 2 cuz my phone died)
Emitter Quirks, mutation Quirks, transformation Quirks and accumulation-type Quirks. Multiple types of quirks in my hero academia universe correct it nature is an on and off switch right mutation physical appearance different transformation can shape your body in a different way and accumulation throwing up energy so and such to do stuff. I propose another ambient-relating to the immediate surroundings of something. With this definition we can say it can do earth or a smaller area a cork that pertains to reality itself in an area correct I'm repeating myself but we might as well say it so help that affect magic. Overhaul is basically fancy alchemy the way I understand it changing one thing to another thing through atoms really. What can I say but that's alchemy and alchemy is a type of magic now what if someone had an ambience quirk that pertained to magic example someone's is to create fantasies reality we can say that the person cuz we only see one country and one other lady and who said the other areas don't have different types of quarks I mean look at Star and Stripes before she died she could write two laws of reality that's not weak truth be told she could have said she will never ever lose a fight he didn't know but she could have she could have said no one will ever get hurt again and no one would ever get hurt again she could say that she is gone and she's gone she's basically a genie is what I'm saying. To say an ambient for account change d&d magic into reality who's the same happened who is that it didn't so who's to say there aren't just magic systems floating around waiting to be used by anyone ever has a bullshiting stealth thing I mean that's not her quirk so it has to be someone else's right that's my proposal of an ambient cork a quark that exists in an area there's a fanfiction forgot the name basically gave his accomadoria and immortality quirk at an area of effect so his whole town is immortal they don't age they don't die and it just moves around who's to say the wrong corks that just affect reality forever. I don't want to get the drama on the American lady but who's to say her commands died when she did I mean her commands were all on herself but if she needs something able to make anything immortal would the command/enhancement still exists or would it not. We may never know but we could say it would we could say it wouldn't who's to say. So do you like my idea it's an idea I had I don't think I've slept in a while. Some people might like it some people might hate it I think it's pretty neat. Adios

What if Monoma's quirk awakening is that when he copies a quirk, he really does "steal" it, and leaves the target temporarily "quirkless" till Monoma's time is up with the quirk ... or something to that effect. š¤ *disappears into the void*

WARNING: MANGA SPOILERS AHEAD FOR CHAPTER 388
Itās time for another episode of Quirk Musings with Allie! Today we will be going over:
Todoroki Toyua aka Dabi!!
Now, I was just reading a mha/bnha fic, as I do, when i was reminded of the recently-ish release of BNHA388 where it revealed that Touya has had an ice quirk the entire time apparently, I donāt really know much more than that, and my mind, as it does, was on a very fast spiral of connecting the adhd dots and coming up with theories. SO!
It is confirmed that Dabi had hotter flames/fire than Endeavor, but with him actually having an ice quirk along with his fire, Iām betting that his fire wasnāt/isnāt hotter⦠But that itās colder.
I think Dabiās fire was so cold that it burned hotter than his fathers ever would. And I believe that his rotted/rotting skin grafts werenāt because he couldnāt handle the heat but because they couldnāt handle the freezing cold temperatures his fire gave off. It even looks like frost burn/ice burn

Okay so we have a quirk that can steal any other quirk and leave the person quirkless, it can also give those quirks to others no matter if they have a quirk already. We have a quirk that can copy other quirks and another quirk that can give a quirkless person a new quirk, or the quirks of all the previous users, right? We have that one quirk that sets rules to reality and one that leaves other people quirkless for an amount of time.
I just need more quirks that play into that rule.
Likeā swap quirks quirk. You touch two people and for the next ??? minutes their quirks are now swapped. They can accidentally hurt others or themselves because they're basically relearning how to manage their quirk. They don't even know what happened or when would it end or if the effect will pass.
Or reversing quirks. You had ice? Nah, you have fire now. It sounds logical until you remember that most things don't have an exact opposite, so the user can't know what would happen. What if the electric quirk turns into a rubber body quirk? You can create anything using body fat? Now you can erase anything but you gain weight doing so.
Quirks that transfer immunity: you touch first A aka person with the "attacking" quirk and then B aka person that you want to make immune to A's quirk. You can give that immunity to multiple people, but it's less effective and lasts less than if you did with one person.
Those are the types of quirks I'm talking about.

@legendzjagz omg!! What a thought!!
I recently had a life changing revelation, and itās about these stupid red sneakers Izuku and Tomura wear.Ā
Going all the way back to the start of the series, letās recall something we learned in the first chapter;
Quirkless people have an extra joint in their pinky toes.
Thatās how the doctor at the start knows Izuku is quirkless vs a late bloomer or someone with a quirk waiting to be triggered. People with quirks donāt have an extra joint. This joint is also something developed fairly young. As far as we know, gaining a quirk later in life wouldnāt change the status of this joint. So, if youāre born quirkless, then youāll have that extra toe joint for the rest of your life, even if you get a quirk later.
Now, itās a fairly minor trait to have. It wouldnāt be super obvious to anyone else unless theyāve got a personās x-rays or for some reason theyāve spent a really long time staring at feet. But having an extra toe joint would probably effect a personās feet/stride. Not drastically, but enough that someone would likely be uncomfortable in shoes designed for someone with only one toe joint.
And hereās the thing, unfortunately, thatās going to be most shoes. Quirkless people are in the minority, and getting progressively rarer, with young quirkless people being highly uncommon. Not only that, but people who are quirkless are seen as weak by society at large. So, if someone whose young and quirkless wants something like athletic shoes made for standing up to the work of a hero/villain, their options are going to be quite limited. Odds are thereād only be a few affordable brands out there.
Which brings me to Izuku and Tomuraās matching red sneakers. Now, Iāve seen some people say that their matching sneakers are a hint towards the Dad For One Theory, and while on the surface that makes sense, if you think about it for a minute, it doesnāt quite add up. Both Izuku and Tomura have undergone design revamps and are well past the age/influence where AFO would have anything to do with their shoe choice.
Yet there they are, wearing near identical sneakers for every single outfit. Almost as if they donāt have any other options.
And it was awfully convenient for All for One that the grandson of his enemy just so happened to get a highly destructive quirk that manifested suddenly and in such a way that it left him traumatized and easily influenced into becoming a villain. Or maybe it wasnāt convenient, and thereās a reason Tomura wears shoes so similar to that of our formerly quirkless protagonist.
