Is it true that Shri Krishna still comes to Nidhivan?

Nidhivan Temple, located in Vrindavan near Mathura, holds a significant place in Hindu scriptures and is believed to be the mystical abode where divine activities take place. According to local legends and folklore, the temple is regarded as the sacred space where Lord Krishna, also known as "Thakurji," engages in divine dances and spiritual activities with Radhaji and the gopis.

Inside the Nidhivan temple, visitors will find a serene and beautifully adorned statue of Lord Krishna and Radhaji. Throughout the night, Lord Krishna dances and engages in celestial play with the gopis. By the break of dawn, everything returns to its original state, as if untouched by the divine revelry.

Birth story of Shri Radha Rani

Radha Rani's birthday or appearance day is known as Radhashtami. Radharani's birthday is celebrated with great pomp in Barsana on the Ashtami of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. Radha and Krishna complement each other, where there is Krishna, there is Radha, where there is Radha, there is Krishna. Radha is said to be the soul of Krishna, hence one of the names of Lord Krishna is also Radharaman.

Birth of Shri Radha Rani

Today we will present before you some facts related to the birth of Radha ji, which almost everyone is unaware of. Where was Radha ji born? This is a question, whose exact answer we get through Brahmavaivarta Purana. According to this great text, Radhaji was born on the Ashtami date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month and this day is still celebrated as Radha Ashtami. It is believed that on this day, Lord Krishna's beloved Radha was born in Braj.

It is popular about Radha ji that she was from Barsana. But, the reality is that she was born 50 km away from Barsana. This village is famous by the name of Rawal. This is Radha's birthplace.

Radha was born on a lotus flower

There is a temple of Radha in Rawal village. It is believed that this is Radha ji's birthplace.

According to Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan, 5 thousand years ago Yamuna used to flow touching Rawal village.

Radha's mother Kriti used to worship while bathing in Yamuna and longed for a daughter.

One day while worshiping, a lotus flower appeared from Yamuna. A golden glow was coming out of the lotus flower. The eyes of a little girl were closed in it. Now that place is the sanctum sanctorum of this temple.

11 months later, Lord Krishna was born in Kansa's prison in Mathura, 3 km away.

He was taken to Nandbaba's house in Gokul at night. Then Nand Baba sent a message everywhere and Krishna's birthday was celebrated.

When Vrishbhanu went there with Radharani in his lap with congratulations, Radharani crawled on her knees to reach Balkrishna. As soon as she sat there, Radharani's eyes opened and she had the first darshan of Balkrishna.

Why did Radha and Krishna go to Barsana?

After Krishna's birth, Kansa's wrath had increased in Gokul. The people here were troubled.

Nandbaba gathered the local kings. At that time, Vrishbhanu was the biggest king of Brij. He had 11 lakh cows. Whereas, Nand ji had nine lakh cows.

The one who had the most cows was called Vrishbhanu. Those who had fewer cows than that were called Nand.

After the meeting, it was decided to leave Gokul and Rawal.

Nand Baba and the people fled from Gokul and went to the hill, which was named Nandgaon. Vrishbhaan took Kriti and Radharani to the hill, which was named Barsana.

About Swami Haridasji

Swami Haridasji was born on Radha Ashtami in Haridaspur near Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh in1535 Vikrami(1478 A.D.). Their kulguru or family guru Sri Garhacharya visited Brij secretly for the naming ceremony of Krishna and Balram. Though some of Haridasji’s family migrated to Multan in Pakistan, his father Ashudhir settled near Brij in Aligarh.

While children of his age would play and read, he was more into meditation. It is believed that Swami Haridas was the reincarnation of Lalita ‘sakhi’ or female friend, the inner consortium of Lord Krishna. Though he was married at the right age to Harimati, he kept aloof from all worldly pleasures and diverted all his concentration to meditation. It is also said that Harimatji also followed the footsteps of her husband and prayed intensely only to enter the heavenly abode through the flame of a small lamp. One cannot therefore find any physical remains.

Upon reaching Vrindavan, Haridasji chose a secluded spot to enjoy eternal bliss and practice his music. This place is now known as Nidhivan. He chose this forested area Kunj as the gateway to Nirvana where he spent more of the time meditating and singing. One of the best ways he knew to attain Sadhna was through singing in praise of Lord.

The beauty of Krishna and Radha was such that no one wanted to lose the sight of divinity. Swami Haridasji wanted them to take a single form like Ghan (cloud) and Damini(lightning) thus giving a perfect metaphor to the combined beauty of dark Lord and his fair consort, Radhaji. He also wished his beloved Lord to be always in front of his eyes. The Lord granted both the wishes. The divine couple turned into a black charming idol which is the same as one sees in Banke Bihari temple. This Bihariji came into existence and the responsibility of which was handed over to Goswami Jagannath, principal disciple and younger brother of Swamiji.
