The Rookie Prodigy - Carlos Sainz x Driver! Reader Part 1

Plot: You are a rookie coming into the 2022 season of Formula one into Alfa Romeo with team member Zhou Guanyu, being in a mid tier team can you help them rise up the ranks. What pressures occur for the only rookie within the 2022 line up!

"We have had some amazing announcements this year. We only have two rookies on the grid this year that have a confirmed seat both in Alfa Romeo. So it should be an interesting season for them!" the first reporter says while walking around the paddock.

"Yes, its very uncommon to see a team take on two rookies in the same season, so it'll be interesting to see if they under perform based on these statistics or not" the other one admits.

Currently you were sat with Zhou your current team mate, he was teaching you a little bit of Chinese at your request.

"Are you nervous for today?" you ask him, you'd both done lots of media over the break so people could get to know you before the season start in Bahrain had begun.

"A little, but we will drive the very best that we can. I know it" he says pulling you into a side hug. You'd gotten very close to your team mate, both being rookies on the same team made you both sort of outcasts on the grid. Today would be your first time talking to the other 18 drivers.

"We'll be fine i promise" he says before walking towards his car in the Alpha Romeo garage, you walk over to your race engineer Paul and go through the different strategies to make sure you know what each one means.

"Okay, its time for your first race, you got this. Remember your starting P11 and Zhou is starting P15. So you just got to make up some pace, and you'll be in points region. Get a good start, and overtake Esteban while defending from Mick, Lando may help you with that but you'll need to then defend from him" he advices and you nod. You take your helmet that your best friend designed for you on place it over your head.

Paul, taps the back of your helmet covered head, before bumping fits with you. You pull yourself into the car under the halo before placing the wheel on.

"Okay, lets go and grab some points" Paul says after he'd checked the radio to make sure you had good connection.

At the start lights you had an impeccable start going wide on the outside of Ocon and Gasly and moving into 9th place. Lando had managed to overtake Mick and was gaining.

"Amazing start Y/N P9 as of now. George ahead, attempt overtake at turn 4. He's 0.4 seconds ahead" you hear your race engineer point out. You can see the Mercedes ahead, and going into turn for you go for the risky move and break later than George. You gave him enough room and he swung wide, not wanting to damage the car giving you a gap to get through.

"What's this Martin! Y/N is storming through this track, starting in P11 and she's already made her way up to P8 taking over drivers who have been in F1 much longer than her. This is some incredible driving we are seeing"

Eventually you had to pit, but it was an exceptionally fast pit-stop that was well timed from your team and had you coming out behind Gasly . You went a few laps, dancing around with him where you both had the pace, but the minute your tires warmed up and his had worn out enough you ploughed on ahead creating a large time gap along the straight.

"You've got Alonso ahead, 1.2 second gap, lets close it on those Sector 2 corners" Paul directs. In no time you make your way up to P6, Magnussen was ahead in P5.

"How many laps left? Can i catch him?" you ask your engineer.

"2 seconds ahead and 10 laps, you can catch him if you speed up Sector 1" he advises. You put you head to it, and managed to overtake.

"This is insane Alfa Romeo are storming this season along with Ferrari, right now, we have Charles Leclerc in P1, Carlos Sainz in P2, Lewis Hamilton in P3 and oh what is this, its NOT, i repeat NOT a double finish for Mercedes, Y/N has overtaken George Russell even on the older tires. And her counter part in Alfa Romeo is in P9 this is an amazing start to the season for the two Ferrari teams"

"AND THAT'S IT CHARLES LECLERC HAS COME FIRST AT BAHRAIN, SAINZ IN SECOND, HAMILTON IN THIRD"

"You've done it Y/N that's P4 we now have 14 points at the starts of the season!" Paul voices. You pull up jumping out your car and hugging everyone.

"I don't think i could have done it if Max and Checo finished, they would have come ahead of me!" you admit, you pull your helmet off balaclava coming off with it. The top bit of your hair was sheened with sweat. You run your hands through it trying to get some more volume through it.

"You'll be in an interview with the TOP 5, from today" Fred says patting your back, he guides you to where the interviews out there.

"Oh Carlos, Charles come say hello to Y/N you haven't met her yet!" Fred offers you up and the two Ferrari boys come over.

"Wow, you are more beautiful in real life than you are in your driver picture!" Carlos says taking your hand and kissing it, a blush coming onto your face.

"You are a fantastic rookie!" Charles compliments pulling you into a hug before offering you up his water. You nod realizing you hadn't picked yours up from the garage.

"Thank you, I'm dying" you joke, and sky from his Ferrari bottle before handing it back to him.

"Omg that's Lewis Hamilton" you whisper looking over at the 7 time world champion that was ahead of you.

"Why didn't we get that reaction mi hermosa?" Carlos asks, and you blush.

"It's Lewis Hamilton!" you say just looking at him in awe.

"Hey great race today Y/L/N. Haven't seen a rookie like you since myself"

"Oh my god" you says in awe. He pulls you into a hug and starts to ask you questions, while Carlos keeps interrupting.

"Well its actually funny because I've been watching you for the last two years in F2" Carlos says as Lewis asks you what prior championships you'd won and how you'd got your seat in Alfa Romeo.

"Oh, you did?" you ask.

"Yeah I actually came to the garage one time, not yours but i was there!"

"That's cool man, I also kept up with her career. I just like to ask so people can gloat about their own achievements, its good for the soul" he smiled a little awkwardly at Carlos and his sudden need to prove that he, knew you better? Is that what that was?

"Come on guys, time for interviews" one of the directors call, George, Lewis and Charles start to walk through but Carlos grabs your hand and holds you back.

"Come out with me tonight, to celebrate?" he asks, however your PR manager comes out and pulls you away from him.

I've realized something about de-extinction projects that never truly crossed my mind before. Of course, the 'resurrected' animals (woolly mammoth, thylacyne, dodo, what have you) are very unlikely to even BE themselves because of the surrogate parent, the incomplete genome, the fact that we're ultimately going into this from the point of view of someone doing a reconstruction. But what about the social aspects? Who's going to teach the first 21st century woolly mammoth baby how to be a woolly mammoth, it's very unlikely the genome it has is going to instinctively tell it what to do. And what if it does? Can we cope? What happens if a woolly mammoth baby has the innate desire to start migrating in the middle of autumn the same way birds and other large herbivores seasonally migrate. But that's learned behavior, who's going to teach that? Who is going to teach them mammoth. Pachyderms are social animals, are you gonna keep it isolated? among other elephants? What of the social dynamics of being reared up among animals that look similar to you but not QUITE, again what about innate behaviours that will make it be an outcast? What happens if that de-extincted animal, sole of its mutated kind, reaches maturity? Will it be allowed to mate?

Idk, why should we create something just to doom it ugly duckling style.

Edit: like the panda in this post. behavior of extinct species is something that is going to be almost entirely lost and even if we have evidence of it replicating it for a de-extincting species that might only have 1 individual in human care is near impossible.

Surprise! This one's on here twice, this is one of my favorites so I feel no guilt about it. For arc 7 I specifically recommend season 3 and 4, just because it's a new group with the same meta players! We know it's the same group playing dnd and we can start to see threads between their characters, that we will get to see if it continues into season 5 with the other new party we get to meet. It's not the same as a group returning as the same characters but its similar enough imo. Really though, I recommend the whole show

Despite taking Eleven's role, Zim (15) has a polar opposite personality. Yes he has a lot of trauma and doesnt know how to interact with people, but hes still a major asshole. He gradually softens up around the other kids but hes always gonna be a bit of a dick. The kids call him Z sometimes as a nickname.

Dib (15) and Gaz have no problems keeping their asshole psychic friend hidden because their dad works overseas. Dib sometimes regrets taking Zim in at all because hes just such a douche but his hero complex outweighs his annoyance.

Gaz (14) doesnt get jealous of Dib spending so much time with Zim, but she does get angry with Zim because having him around keeps putting Dib in danger, and Dib is essentially her only family she has a strong bond with. She does eventually warm up to Zim and see him as a friend though.

GIR (13) is a wildcard. Nobody knows his real name or where he came from, but hes surprisingly capable. Hes homeless and mainly eats whatever he can find, and somehow he keeps evading social services when they go out to find him. Strangely enough hes never underweight, he has money to buy food, and despite being in a few fights with the local raccoons, hes never caught anything worse than a minor cold. The gang jokes about him being an escaped government robot. He usually hangs out at the Membrane house and sleeps on the couch.

Keef (15)is a happy go lucky kid and the sunbeam of the gang. Hes always super cheerful and loves making his friends happy. He has an older sister who's also a ray of sunshine but shes labelled as the weird kid in town and unfortunately has very few friends.

Chammy (21) is Keef's older sister and a social outcast for her very loud and unabashed middle school fujoshi and serial killer obsession phase. Shes gone past that now but the effects of her obsession still haunt her. When Keef goes missing, people start spreading rumors that she killed him. Loves photography. She has a huge crush on Zita. She makes up the combined role of Jonathan and Joyce in this au.

Zita (22) is Dib and Gaz's babysitter. She does her best to protect the kids but Dib and Gaz are feral and more often than not, she ends up having to drive out and drag them back home. Also thinks Chammy is cute.

Mr. Dwicky (45) was a bright-eyed children's counsellor in his early twenties but switched careers after the tragic death of one of his young patients. He's now a very tired private investigator who specializes in children's cases in the hopes that he can prevent more tragedies from happening in his little town.

Miss Bitters (74) is a sour old woman who's the gang's homeroom teacher. She desperately wants to retire already but spends her off time trying to prevent Dib and his friends from causing mayhem at the school. That may include letting them use the top of the line radio system in the AV room.

Red and Purple (both 32) are the joint CEOs of the energy plant that created Zim. They caused the accident that opened a rift to the Upside Down, consequently leading to Zim's escape and the Demogorgon's string of murders/kidnappings.

Tenn (16) and Tak (17) are two more subjects that were created by Red and Purple's company. They don't appear til after the Demogorgon is defeated and Keef is rescued but they DO come in eventually.

what are you working on right now? I’m currently writing a void!bellamy fic called “I Am Lost This Time”, which is about 3 chapters in. Basically lots of angst, Bellamy losing his memories because of M-Cap in season 7 and Clarke getting her memories examined by him (radio calls, etc) and trying to get Bellamy to come back to her. Also, I’m writing for Bellarke Big Bang again this year. My fic is called “I Found Peace in Your Violence” and it’s an AU where Bellamy and Clarke are both discovered to have a “kill gene”. It tells the story of how they are thrown together. They’re strangers at first who bond over being societal outcasts and as there’s others with the kill gene in their school/society, Bellamy finds the need to protect Clarke at all costs. It’s such a long fic and still in progress while we wait for the new posting dates for the challenge.

what is the fanwork you’re most proud of? Everyone loves “Waste It on Me” and “Lose You Too” and while I do love them, I’m so proud of “Devil Side”. I love Bellarke’s dynamic in the fic and I’m a bit of a sucker for apocalyptic AU’s anyway - how two strangers can develop such an intimate relationship so quickly in adverse situations. Lots of protective Bellamy, lots of angst - anyone sensing a theme with me here?

why did you first start writing fic? I started in like 2015, just for fun, but I only started posting it about two years ago in 2018 because I never had the confidence. now, it’s definitely an escape and still fun when I don’t put pressure on myself.

what frustrates you most about fic writing? my motivation for it. there’s times where I could write 7 chapters in two days and times where I might not look at fic for two weeks. real life commitments get in the way or outside sources pull my inspiration, such as the show or fandom news.

what are your top five songs right now? giants (dermot kennedy) another place (bastille) hold me down (james gillespie) afterglow (hermitage green) big plans (why don’t we)

what are your inspirations (books, songs, other fic)? Mainly music. I could write a whole fic over a feeling I get from a certain song (my fic “Purple, Blue, Orange, Red” is from Dermot Kennedy’s song “An Evening I Will Not Forget”).

what are some things you’d like to recommend? I can’t not mention some of my fandom friends and their fics here because they’re not only outstanding people but they write outstanding stories.

2) Paint me in Trust by @pawprinterfanfic -- essie is my life and soul and this fic is as brilliant as she is.

5) there’s a serpent lying deep in these still waters by @shaeheda -- this fic isn’t posted yet but it’s part of our bellarke big bang fics and this one is FIRE. i can’t wait for you to read it. and as for the person writing it - they are my biggest love in the fandom and they make me so grateful to be here.

The 100 s5 rewatch, 5.01 Eden

Hey guys. I don’t know how these are going to turn out. The last time i did a liveblog of my rewatch it was 1-2-3. I’m not sure I have more insight to add, but my enjoyment. I am bellarke focused, but not solely bellarke, and I’m looking for things I’ve missed before. 

I also haven’t been participating in bellarkefamselfienight for various reasons, but mostly because every time I try, my icloud is not cooperating and it’s this whole big hassle and nah. So I thought I’d push to get this out for bfsn. If there are a lot of typos it’s because i’m a crap typist and I’m trying to write as I watch. So. be forewarned.

  Here we go

First shot it the ring and then it slides through and down to earth, with Clarke digging out of the lab to a desolate land. Her outfit is good though. She hikes across the dry ocean bed, back to the spot where flokru left their stone markers and she digs up the rover. 210 miles to Polis but it’s nothing but a wasteland and the tower is down. She’s trying to dig the bunker out by hand. Screaming for her mom and telling her she’s here and eating tiny bits of ration bars. Ooh she finds the throne, is that he CL theme? Ooo but she collapses the whole tower from trying to get that staff out of the throne.

Oh voiceover. Who are you talking to Clarke? Who? Oh that’s right. Bellamy. 2 months alone, the tower collapsed, she heads to Arcadia and it’s the first time she feels alone. Maya’s iPod, Jasper’s goggles MOnty’s note. Poor Clarke. Now we see the voiceover is a call on the radio. Static. “Anyway I doubt you can hear me on this piece of crap radio… but please don’t feel bad about leaving me here. You did what you had to do. I’m proud of you.” Definitely to Bellamy.

Finally rain. She hasn’t had water in days. Now that she’s had water she seems much better. Eating bugs off the windshield. I LOVE when she digs the bugs off the grate and scarfs them down like they are delicious. Lol. But uh oh. We have a dangerous storm coming and she’s got to cover up from the elements too late for the solar panels. CLose the windows Clarke. Save yourself. Was that one of the glass storms? Ahh she’s heading for Farm Station and then the Solar Fields to get new solar panels for the rover. That’s when she dares the earth to kill her. And it almost does.

Dropping Lxa’s staff. Dropping Jaspers goggles. Dropping her coat and pack and falling to her knees in the desert. Now just falling. The vulture is trying to EAT her, and then she’s like wait It’s ALIVE. The first thing she sees is more desert, and then tumbles down the dune. Screaming Clarke.

“I”ve lost everything I”ve lost my friends, my father my mother. I’ve got nothing left!” Crying. Heading for the gun. And putting it to her head but there’s the vulture again. Follow it Clarke follow it.

There’s Eden. Heavenly music. “Thank You,” She says to the vulture and then shoots it.

That’s so Clarke.

Here’s Clarke eating in Eden. More voiceover. This one’s important to the whole season I think, and perhaps leads her, later, to  deciding to be the good guy. It’s showing how much she’s changed from the first Clarke, in season 1.

--I used to think life was about more than just surviving, but I’m not so sure anymore. Animals don’t feel guilty when they kill, they just do it. They kill or they get killed.

I tell myself that every life I took was for a reason. But the truth is the other side had reasons too. What becomes of the commander of death when there is nothing left to kill. I guess we’ll find out now, because my fight is over. The question is, who am I now?”

She’s in the river, swimming. Being washed clean….

So that voiceover. That was talking to Bellamy, wasn’t it? She was having her moral dilemma to Bellamy.

She finds the village.

--Wait til you see this place. It’s like the death wave jumped over the entire valley. Unfortunately the radiation didn’t. “

Dead kids. Dead bodies. Just like in Mount Weather. Eerie

--I’ve lost track of how many bodies we’ve burned since reaching the ground. God this would be so much easier if I knew you were alive. If I knew I was going to see you again. Positive thoughts, Clarke.”

We see her sitting at a table now, her tone of voice much happier. The radio is back.  Joking about how the algae must suck but she found berries. Just talking to Bellamy. When you realize she’s just talking to him, and you know it lasts for 2199 days, it seems so sad and lonely. Oh look, she’s drawing the rocket taking off right now. So she’s thinking about when they left her and talking to them. Wait no. She sees a person. Madi.

Madi is a little hell child. Running from her. THen Clarke steps in the bear trap and Madi tells the fleimkepa to die and stabs her until she realizes she’s a night blood too and runs away. Hell child.

Clarke limps back to the cafe to sew her leg back up. I think I heard that they actually made that a lot less gory than they were going to. Poor Clarke, sweating and panting and now she’s asleep and Madi steals all her damn stuff! Hell child!

But she gets better, now limping around on Lxa’s staff and watching Madi spear fish.

“Last two people on earth and one of them happens to be the child from hell.

But there she is drawing a picture of Madi by the water. Clever Clarke lures her in with a picture of herself. And leaves. Madi comes closer and the music is suddenly soft and gentle.

Cut to grown Madi getting out of the rover and Clarke having caught fish. They’re going to get hair dye. Now the hair dying. Madi is talking about Clarke’s stories and her heroes, especially Octavia. Clarke says she’s not sorry they left without her because if she was with them she never would have met her.

“What about them? DO you think they’ll come back too?” Clarke says. The music changes to something longing and the camera pans up to Bellamy in the ring staring out the window looking at Eden. No words.

Echo and Raven sparring. Monty calling dinner and Raven using the distraction to get Echo.

“This isn’t eating it’s surviving,” harper said.

Ahh spacerkru. Eden is still just a dot and Raven and Bellamy are fighting over radiation, radios and living on earth while drinking green swill.

Emori likes spacewalks and likes to play outside in the void. While Bellamy is hassling Raven about not getting them to earth for 6 years and 7 days. They said they wouldn’t talk about it and Bellamy says sorry, and takes his punishment to check on Murphy.

Murphy jumps on his back, the troll. And Bellamy just rolls with it. He wants Murphy to come back to the others if he wins their sparring and Murphy says no because there’s no one to disappoint here, then he sucker punches Bellamy. They are so cute together. I mean they’re fighting but they’re not angry.

“You know what your problem is? You like being a hero. Except up here, there are no heroes.” I like the character development of s1 asshole murphy missing being the hero. Outcast murphy being DECLARED a hero. He just wanted to belong, and now he does...only he has problems with that, belonging. And Bellamy’s trying to force him to love himself. 

SO like down on Eden, we’ve got Clarke saying the good guys and bad guys are the same and life is just about survival, because that way she doesn’t feel guilt. And up there in space, Bellamy is saying there are no heroes and Murphy is afraid to be useless again. Then they spar and Bellamy pins him, “You’re not worthless, Murphy,” and he sees the Eligius. Immediately they’re back as a team, even if they don’t agree about communicating with Eligius. Murphy just wants to get to the ground and Bellamy wants to find out who they are first.

That clip of Clarke and Madi seeing the Eligius is a clip from s4. It’s the other actress that played Madi but you don’t see her face.

THERE’S the real Madi.  THey’re running from the Eligius, and Madi want to think that they are good guys but Clarke isn’t taking any chances. She’s going to be the girl under the floor.

Diyoza in armor and a mask revealed to be a pretty lady. She thinks it’s all clear when she’s got Wanheda scoping her. Oh the prisoners are just swarming. There’s shaw who looks dashing, and McCreary who looks like some sort of dangerous scorpion. “Non violent offenders with me?” Shaw says. “Yeah both of them.”

“You’re still my favorite mass murderer,” she says to McCreary. That’s just because she hasn’t met OUR mass murderers.

I love her little journal of their weapons, just like Lincoln had.

Except she hears then and comes running because some prisoner is going to shoot Madi. While the other guy is like leave the little kid aloe. Then Clarke shoots him and goes after the other one. Oh nope. Madi takes out the other prisoner. Her first kill.

Madi tries to keep Clarke from killing the other prisoner because she thinks he’s one of the good guys, and Clarke says, “There are no good guys.”

That’s important. The idea of good guys, heroes, who are they now?

Back to spacekru and Monty doesn’t want to go because they’ve been safe for 6 years. He doesn’t want to take the risk.

He doesn’t want to do it again, to have to be so strong. “No one should have to be that strong.”

Emori doesn’t want anything to do with Murphy and he packed her pack for her. Raven says he blew a good thing, because she’s annoyed about having a roommate for 6 months. He says it’s because she couldn’t get them back to the ground.

Bellamy’s final sweep to pick up Echo. “What are we gonna be now, Bellamy?”

“Nothing is gonna change on the ground.”

“I wish that were true.

“Oh I know it is.We kept each other alive. We’re family and nothing can change that.”

He thinks Octavia will understand, but then panics about her not being okay. Because she’ll forgive her too. “Bellamy, it took you three years.”

“Well I’m more stubborn than she is. Whatever it is down there Octavia will be the least of our worries.”

Smash cut to Octavia leading her death cult.

Oh Bellamy. That is like one full minute of famous lasts words, buddy.

Tottenham leave it late to see off Wycombe in FA Cup

Jose Mourinho insists Tottenham will “not give up any competition” after late goals from Harry Winks and Tanguy Ndombele ensured Spurs overcame a scare against a spirited Wycombe side to reach the FA Cup fifth round.

Wycombe, bottom of the Championship, had stunned their Premier League opponents when Fred Onyedinma slotted in the opener midway through the first half.

But Gareth Bale marked a rare start with the equaliser just before half-time, hooking in Lucas Moura’s cross.

Tottenham upped the pressure in the second half, but Wycombe repelled numerous attacks as they looked set to take the game to extra time.

However, with Mourinho having sent on key players Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Ndombele, the away side’s quality eventually told as Winks curled home to give Spurs the lead with four minutes to go.

Ndombele ensured there would be no late drama when he finished from close range and then stabbed home a fourth in injury time to set Tottenham up with a fifth-round tie at Everton.

Spurs have already reached the final of the Carabao Cup and are also in the knockout stage of the Europa League.

They also host Liverpool in the Premier League on Thursday and Mourinho said not choosing to rest Kane, Son and Ndombele for that fixture highlighted his determination to win in every competition they play in.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “Even when we had to play four matches in one week and people thought we were going to give away Europa League or Carabao Cup we didn’t. We fought. Today we brought the whole squad – only Hugo Lloris stayed at home. We are going to fight.

��We want to keep going. February we have to play three competitions because FA Cup and then comes Europa League. Of course it will be very hard but we have to try.”

There were times last season when Ndombele appeared to be heading for the Tottenham exit as he struggled to make an impression following his move to Spurs for a club record £53.8m in the summer of 2019.

However, he is proving to be one of Spurs’ best players this season – arguably as crucial as Kane and Son – and he once again showed his quality with his late cameo.

His first goal allowed Tottenham to breathe easy but his second was one of real quality, confusing the Wycombe defence with superb footwork before firing in at the near post.

It was yet another piece of inventive play from the France midfielder, who scored a brilliant hooked finish against Sheffield United on 17 January.

Ndombele has now scored four goals in his past six appearances for Spurs, having hit four in his 48 games prior to that, underlining his impressive revival at the club.

“He is very creative,” added Mourinho. “He is one of those players that can break the balance.

“They tried to get him man against man but he can break that – plus on top of that he can score a goal for us.”

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth on BT Sport: “The scoreline is probably not a reflection of the game although they were fantastic at the end – I am flattered they had to put some big names on to get in front.

“We looked tired. We have given everything and there is no disgrace from our boys, really proud – we will take a lot of heart from this.
