A/N: First of all, we'll pretend we haven't saw anything in case I have made any mistakes while calculating the kids' ages, I'm horrible with any kind of math. Since the very moment I saw @mothandpidgeon's Mother's day challenge I knew I had to write something involving Jack and babies hahaha. Yes, this was named after the masterpiece "Rockabye" by Clean Bandit and Anne-Marie.

Even before you got married, you knew you wanted at least one baby and the idea was completely encouraged by Jack. At the moment you saw yourself tucked on the bed with your small baby girl in your arms giggling while her father squeezed her chubby little cheeks, you knew that Katherine wouldn’t be a single child and, as you imagined, when your daughter was two and half once again you saw yourself smashing Jack’s hand while pushing your second baby. Oliver came to the world completely healthy and looked like his dad as much as Katherine, except for his eyes that definitely were yours.

On a random rainy evening, while you and Jack carefully moved the babies to their beds for a little nap, again you felt reality hitting on you fully, making you admit to yourself that maybe wouldn’t be that bad to have another little one around the house, but at that point, you weren’t sure if Jack would engage the idea, since you two haven’t established a specific number of kids you’d like to have. Being no surprise at all Jack emphatically agreed with another baby, already getting excited about it, even with Oliver being only 4 months old.

When Katherine was 6 and Oliver was 3, once again you and Jack were dealing with tummy aches and night shifts with your chubby newborn Amelia, a perfect copy of you with Jack’s eyes, she was the loudest of the babies, even though she was still pretty quiet for a newborn.

“We’re too good at making beautiful babies.” Jack said with a melted smile while observing you nestling Amelia in your arms as she started to fall asleep.

“I can’t disagree.” You chuckled and looked at him, smiling with his expression.

“We should make another one.” He mentioned while caressing Amelia’s tiny head,

“I don’t know. I getting old to this.” You admitted while looking back at your baby.

“It’s up to you, honey. If you want three more babies, fine, if you want to stop here, fine either.” Jack assured and leaned to kiss your forehead.

“We can go back to this matter when she’s a bit older.”

And it happened exactly like that.

At the moment Amelia was 3 and half years old, you and Jack talked about it once more, pondering all the possibilities and getting to an agreement: if you didn’t get pregnant until the end of the year, Jack would, at last, get a vasectomy and the two of you would be fine with your three babies if you ended up pregnant, he would get the sterilization either way and both of you would be more than happy with another little one on the house.

There was no pressure on the process, both of you knew that at your age fertility tended to start to decrease and were fine about it, what didn’t prevent you and Jack from having a lot of hopes, and it probably worked, because not even two complete months after the decision being made and once again you were running to Jack to tell him you were pregnant. Eight months later the little Barbara, an equal mix of you and Jack, was sleeping peacefully on her crib while her siblings watched in complete silence to no disturb her.

You woke up that morning after realizing that Jack wasn’t in bed, which wasn’t such a rare event since he used to get up earlier than the chickens just to make sure he would have enough time to shave and groom his mustache before the day started. You still were lazy and slightly asleep, but you could hear the slight buzz near the bedroom door and Jack’s voice quietly saying something like “Y’all try to keep the turmoil under control, please.”. Right after that, you heard the door being opened and the steps of your four kids getting close, making you realize it was Mother’s Day morning.

Katherine, at the plenty of her 12 years was the first one to get tucked on the bed and hold you, right after her, your nine-year-old Oliver nestled against you either, Amelia found a space to make herself comfortable with all the morning energy of a six-year-old, and Barbara, after a couple of squeaked pleas for the help of her dad, got up on the bed too, moving the better her little 2 and a half-year-old body could.

“May I be informed on what y’all are involved?” you asked playfully, managing the best possible to cuddle all your babies “This includes you.” You said while looking at Jack lying next to you and the kids.

“Just making sure daddy will give us a moment alone with you for at least five minutes.” Katherine said promptly with that smug mocking tone that made her sound very much like Jack.

“Yeah, he don’t understand what’s space.” Oliver reaffirmed his sister’s statement as always since they made quite a great duo.

“Thank you very much for the consideration.” Jack retorted while doing his best to try to sound serious.

“It’s true, daddy. Y’need to leave more momma time for us.” Amelia cooperated with her siblings, making you smile with how thick her southern accent was at that early age, another thing besides her eyes that she got from Jack.

“Kathy, Kathy.” Barbara mumbled while nudging her sister, making Katherine turn her head to look.

“What’s the urgence, little Egyptian plague?” the baby laughed at her sister’s bored tone, Katherine loved Barbara more than anything and anyone and would fight everyone, including you and Jack to defend the baby, but her personality wouldn’t let her use friendly cute nicknames with the little one.

“Help.” Barbara said while stretching out her little arms, wanting a little hand to get closer to you since she couldn’t climb up her siblings.

“You’re a pain in the ass, hum?” Katherine rolled her eyes while grabbing Barbara and placing the little one between her and you “Now stop disturbing.” Katherine said in her usual bored tone when talking to Barbara and finished the phrase by kissing the baby’s head.

“Y’all have way too much of the personality of me and your father.” You concluded the obvious and laughed shaking your head.

“Something has to go wrong, right?” Jack joked while getting snuggled with you and the kids.

“He didn’t remain away for five minutes, did he?” Oliver asked as he saw his father joining the collective hug.

“Definitely not.” Amelia affirmed as if it was stupidly obvious, making all of you laugh.

Whoof, that's a hard two-in-one!! I have to pick a favourite book first, which is already impossible, and then finding a matching song to that book, oh gosh... So I tried a few combinations but then I came to realize that I rarely read while I'm listening to music, so even if I associate a ton of songs to movies or shows, it's really harder for books, except whent there's been a movie about it, or... if it's classical music.

So let's compromize here, shall we? This can’t be really categorized as a ‘song’, and that may not be be my favourite book ever although I love it, but Mendelssohn 4th 'Scottish' Symphony has always reminded me of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Don't ask me about the reasons behind that, though...

I can (and generally want to) dance on basically anything. But Rockabye by Clean Bandit surely is a hell of a trigger!

It really depends on my mood I guess, I could as well listen to funeral music to match the weather or wake myself up with hard rock... But November Rain by Guns n' Roses is definitely a classic!
