Hello, Hi! It's been busy as heck over here! I had another voice actor join the ranks to voice Roy and Earl! Their work is incredible and I am really excited to animate something with what they've sent me so far!! Just thought I'd update the Tumblr crowd with some art and characters you may not have seen yet! So! The Blue Little Imp with the hammer is Lunette Lullabye! The Giraffe with the ice cream is Bertie Sherbet! The pink Gorgon girl is Caramia My! The Grey Cloud Man is Grim Boogie! And the ghostly Ballerina is Oddrey Shivers! Hopefully this helps familiarize you with them more! I know some people recognize a couple of these fellas! Bertie, Lunette, and Oddrey are part of the Dreamalong Gang! YOU KNOW WHAT SUCKS HARDCORE ABOUT HERBY PORBER?  HOW FUCKING BORING IT MADE WIZARDS.

Look at this.  Look at these fucking characters.  They look like fucking fashion models.  They look like they’re about to walk the goddamn runway.  There’s not an ounce of whimsy or fantastical shit here.  These fuckers look like they’re about to announce the start of Universal’s Dark Universe movie franchise, right down to the unnecessary appearance of Johnny Depp.

Wizards in Henry Pansly’s Adventures in Centrism are, with rare exception, people in mostly regular outfits who occasionally point a stick at things to zap it with a laser.  Everything about them is so... toned down and grounded, as if they’re afraid to let wizards look silly.

But looking silly is what makes wizards fucking awesome.

Look at that fucker, with his extravagant beard and big elaborate bathrobe, floating in fucking space over a dragon rising out of an exploding volcano.  It’s ridiculous, it’s ludicrous, it’s fucking awesome.

Pew pew sticks?  Fuck that!  An unleashed wizard floats on hexagonal geodes while shooting GODDAMN LIGHTNING from his GODDAMN FINGERTIPS!

Even mundane shit is rendered ridiculous and magnificent.  Look at this gaudily dressed son of a bitch as he ponders his orb.  Just hanging out with his cat looking at a cool sphere, no big deal, but the theatrics!  the drama!  It’s positively splendiferous, fuck!

Oh you thought I wouldn’t include some sick Rankin Bass pics while talking about aesthetics in fantasy fiction?  Shame on you, of course I was gonna pull out good ol’ R&B.

We gotta bring it back!  We can’t let this stand!  We can’t let wizards just be guys in vaguely fancy clothes with pew pew sticks!  They gotta be ludicrous and silly and over-the-top!  They need to shoot lightning from their fingers and cackle madly while holding glowing orbs and rising above a mountain into the heavens themselves while dragons fly underfoot burninating the countryside!  We gotta make them FUCKING CAMP!

I want to BEHOLD THE GODDAMN WIZARD!  I want wizards to feel like they belong on the side of a van of some shitty heavy metal band!  I want wizards who reside on black velvet paintings and in crappy pewter sculptures that cost as much as a used car!

first up we have 1977 rankin bass thran. and what a fucking mess he is.

they made him bald??? why?? he’s an elf where are the beautiful locks?? you can’t tell me that smidgen of hair on the side is beautiful elf locks. also that hunched posture is terrible for his back. 0/10

2003 Hobbit Game

okay this one earns some points for nostalgia but he is so fucking polygonal. that gamecube crust just DESTROYS the quality of his... everything. he does look a bit better in the cutscenes tho

kind of a serve. 5/10

The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II (2006)

cant even find any good images of him from this game. he looks okay? ive never played it. 3/10

2012-2014 Peter Jackson Hobbit movies

okay this is where we peaked as a sexy thranduil society. lee pace thranduil is amazing and his absolutely fucked characterization can be overlooked cuz the aesthetics are literally peak ✨✨✨✨✨ Perfect In Every Way 10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Hobbit LEGO game (2014)

not really sure how to rank this on the sexy scale considering he’s a LEGO but he’s still based on the lee pace thran so that gives him some points. the  best part of this game was smashing shit as sauron after beating it. 7/10

lord of the rings online (LOTRO) (idk when they added him, it looks like 2018 but i have no clue if that’s really true)

The combat in this game is fun but why are half of the quests to fetch animal hides? anyway this thran looks weird, like an older white guy who doesn’t believe in tipping servers. 3/10

finally the new gollum game (2023)

he just looks off? the crown is cool but there’s just TOO much happening with this design. also the game sucks shit. 4/10

The Ranki-Baas are an alien species from the Andromeda Galaxy. Seen as a barbarian race by most of the universe, the Ranki-Baas didn't develop space travel on their own but had it introduced to them by visitors. However, their resource-limited homeworld made them an unattractive prospect for invaders and traders alike. Ranki-Baas culture is simple in its aesthetic tastes - making things for mostly utilitarian purposes and avoiding ornamentation or art-for-art's sake. The main exception is in their songs, which are renowned abroad, even by those who dismiss other aspects of their culture. Singing is extremely important to them - in fact, several wars have been fought solely because a tribal chief or two wanted a venue to showcase a new acapella war chant or the like. They each have two throats, which aid in their ability to harmonize. 

Ranki-Baas only have one sex, with each member having both male and female features. In a mating scenario, both participants tend to give birth. The have live births, but the young are soon after suspended in nutrient-rich mud until they reach adolescence, when they emerge healthy and strong. Ranki-Baas have expandable throats, like the bullfrog of Earth, with are used in threat displays. Their "horns" are actually the upper canine tusks, which grow upward and pierce through their skin. 

Inspired by the Goblins/Orcs from the Rankin/Bass Tolkien movies. I always liked their designs (even though they're not remotely book-accurate) and they always had the best songs. Their gestation period is based on the infamous "Orc Pods" from Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies.

AH Thank you so much! I really love pastel kidcore aesthetics myself :o) I've been trying to capture that style for a while, it just feels nice and cozy and at-home for me. I'm glad it itches something in your brain too!! Ain't that nice!

Fun little tidbit for you because I felt like it and I get asked about it a lot too: My palette for these fellas were inspired off of Sesame Street and Carebears of course (all the characters together make a rainbow!!! It's so cute!!!), but with a little bit of that retro charm you'd see in older animation like Don Bluth, Rankin Bass, Sanrio films, and the Moomin series from the 90s (my favorite!)

That's just off the top of my head :oD I have giant pinterest boards for several Dreamalong things if you'd like to see. I like to be open with my resources-- especially with how people have been behaving lately, ha! Here you go:

Holiday Pictures 2023! (part 1)

Happy Holidays, everyone! This year I decided to put together some pictures of various folks. They’re all in a style that makes them seem shorter than usual. I did my best to get them looking good, so apologies if there’s any errors. Admittedly I had only planned to make eight of these, but I had experienced a drive to keep making more – a phenomenon that’s been incredibly rare for me these days – so that number expanded to 16. They’re mostly featuring folks on Twitter that I know, like, and/or admire in some meaningful capacity, so I hope they all like what I’ve put together!

For NS-Games, it’s the “Fix-It Cat” Collin LiBee. A very good friend who’s good with computer problems, and has been making some nice art to boot! He’s wearing his purple shirt today, and showing off a laptop with a familiar wallpaper design.

For PetrarchEleven, it’s his protogen character Ramune! He seems to be having a good time, dancing and waving those glowing batons all around. He just needs to be careful! If he doesn’t watch where he goes he could accidentally fall to pieces!

For Saturn’s Rings and Colonel Sandwich, it’s their respective characters Saturn and Terry, posing together for this one. Early on this year Saturn had asked for a picture of the two together, and this was the opportunity to do it. They are indeed a cute pair!

For Treevis, it’s his character Lytzyv, dashing and looking cool. I think this is the fourth iteration of him that I had made, with little tweaks in design each time. I don’t see too many images of him these days, so hopefully I got all the details down.

For VAdaPEGA, it’s Pantufa the Cat, as he appears in the “Extended Edition” of his game. I always thought he looked good in that attire. But with how small he is, I didn’t think it was enough, so Honker is here as well! It’s a two-fer! (Or maybe a “Toof-er”?)

For Cooper the Husky, we have…Cooper the Husky! He’s got a cute art style and characters to match, so I tried to keep with some of the aesthetic. I particularly liked his “modern outfit,” so that’s what he’s wearing here.

For Miles Fox, it's Charlotte, the main character of his work-in-progress, “SLAY-BELLS!” She seemed like an appropriate character to draw this time of year. I somehow ended up making her look like something from a Rankin-Bass special…which I guess is also appropriate.

For HunterBahamut, this is Hunter. I had drawn Bahamut a few times before, but this is the first time I made this one – I opted for his black-and-white iteration.. I’m not sure if he’s running away from or towards danger, but he sure looks like he’s ready to confront it either way.

Quite a few so far! And we're only halfway through!
