Listening to F1 nation and Natalie and Tom think Daniel was kinda hurt by the are you a racer or an entertainer question.

Natalie says that's why he stopped beaming when the camera is on him now and that he wanted to prove them wrong with the race.

I'm glad he did that..... BUT ALSO that was such a disrespectful question in the first place. this man dedicated his life to be able to race in formula 1, he took a pay cut to go to mclaren because renault was sinking, took an alpha tauri seat which was arguably worse than the Williams and Haas when he was offered both the seat just so he could have a shot at Redbull which is STILL not a guarantee

you think an entertainer would do that, you think that's a man that's less racer and more entertainer? YOU'D HAVE TO BE ABSOLUTELY STUPID.

why do you look at a man who's happy that he's living his dream that he worked his ass off to get and think he's not serious?? is smiling really THE indication that you don't want to be the best driver in the world?? when did people start losing their common sense??

I'm so tired of this narrative. I hope he makes it RBR and gives the middle finger to everyone who judged him!!

Dancing with the Stars Season 33 Week 7: Something's Gotta Give

So Jenn was eliminated and I honestly was not shocked. She was the most obvious choice for elimination last week, even with the overscoring of 4 couples. She had her best dance of the season though, so it was a good note for them to go out on. Now before I get into anyone else, I need to vent a bit about the mess that we dealt with last week.

The scoring was atrocious. I am still frustrated by it. Let me tell you why. Ilona came out and while she gave a respectable routine, there were some issues. A 24 was a normal score and definitely deserved. But when you look at Dwight, Joey and Danny's dances and how CAI gave them all 10s (and Bruno giving Joey a 10 as well) while they all had OBVIOUS technical issues, it makes it seem like Ilona was horrible while they all completely knocked it out of the park. And while they did well, they were closer to Ilona in terms of execution than the judges made it seem.

So you think that's it, right? That it can't get any worse? Well, we get to Chandler's dance and it was perfect. You couldn't see a mistake under a microscope. And yet CAI tells her that she can't give her a perfect score because it has more criteria than contemporary and the Argentine tango. What that means? None of us know. She doesn't even know. It's also bull because the Argentine tango has quite a bit of criteria in order to be good and she KNOWS how to properly judge a contemporary dance. And when questioned by Chandler on what she can do to improve (because this is maybe the 4th week that she hasn't gotten an actual critique from her), instead of answering, she hid.

So here's where I'm at. We cannot play these foolish games on this show. Not with scoring. This is how you get dumb results. This is how someone like Tinashe or Demarcus gets eliminated early. This is how you get someone like a Joe Amabile getting 5th and a Bobby Bones winning the whole thing. Is anyone this season like those two? No. BUT, there was a legit chance that we could've lost Ilona or Chandler prematurely. Heck, we still can lose them. Y'all remember how Nastia and Simone were both unjustly eliminated in the semis on their respective seasons? That's because the judges kept zeroing in on complete nonissues in their dances (the same exact thing they're zeroing in on for Chandler). After a while, GP starts to believe it and they vote that way too. I refuse to let them do this and then continue to blame us for wonky results when it's on them! The judges shoulder the vast majority of the blame when those things happen. Yeah, the viewers have blame too. But when the judges' scores count for 50% of the overall total, they have to be more responsible with this. I'm sick of them just doing what tf ever, just like CAI basically admitted to last week. Dwight was out of sync at points. Danny was hunched over and his footwork needed a lot of work. Joey also had footwork issues and his lifts were kinda rough. Jenn was probably the cleanest of them all, but there was one part that was kind of messy toward the end. We need to call things out across the board.

So where does that leave us? Simply put, we need a 4th judge on the panel that can keep everyone in check. Bruno is not that cuz he has his moments too. Derek clearly can't be that person and he be on some bs too. We need someone else that is going to force the judges to respect the integrity of the competition and the dances. Things like this can quickly turn folks away from this show. I've been watching for almost 20 years and I damn near gave up on the season and probably the show at the moment CAI whipped out a 9 for Chandler after giving out 4 undeserved 10s while also acknowledging they were undeserved and also letting us know she had no real reason to not give Chandler a 10. You see how stupid that looks? It felt stupid for me to type that out.

Listen, I sound like a broken record at this point. But the scoring has to be better and it has to be consistent. I'm more mad this week because this was the most egregious occurrence that I have ever seen. You don't get that together, you kill your show. Conrad, come here. Get your talent together. Y'all flying a little too close to the sun right now.

That's all that I have. I pretty much gave my thoughts on each dance in this rant, so I won't do too much more. I'll just say that Stephen had a great night and I'm glad he got a moment to have a really great dance.

There will be a slight change in the publishing schedule of the Supernatural Wars for a short while. Instead of weekly, I'll be posting it every alternate week. It's not permanent, we will be back on weekly schedules, hopefully by the end of the month! I'm not touching Purgatory series because it's a short series anyways.

Reason? I'm very straightforward, so I'll just say it: our education system sucks.

Look, I love my country, it has been my home and it has taken care of me, but every place has its pros and cons. And one big con here is the education system - first of all, we are coperate fodder. I don't know about other institutions, but where I study, we are nothing more than a morsel to be fed in greedy and downgrading companies who will use our skill to the nth level and leave us chasing our happiness forever. Sorry but I'm still upset no one taught me writing.

Second of all, I should probably explain where I'm coming from, our "best" teacher gave us exams. I know I sound like an entitled brat here, but let me explain with a metaphor:

I can't swim, the teacher cancelled or half-assed the lectures until mid-term, then preponed the exams because they got bored of teaching. They said, you will learn with the "experience" of exam. On the day of the exam, you can barely swim; the teacher "nudges" you into the ocean and while you are practically drowning, the kind ones yell, 'I have faith in you', before you somehow crawl to the shore, more than half-dead, burntout and depressed. Because you're alive, the teacher gives you a B - many people just choose to let the fucking tide take over, and the system doesn't care. Then, your parents scold you for an estranged B - hadn't you always been an A, where'd your intelligence go? (Not my parents, but a few friends I know - still, pisses me off.)

And I wish I was exaggerating. Trust me, I'm not dramatic, I'm just done with these pricks. And no, this is not some call for help or anything, just a rant, I suppose. I'm mentally well-adjusted enough to recognise that I'll swim - just a condition of this place I was describing.

Anyway, thank you for listening if you made it till here. And sorry about the posting. Several people here have given up their passions for this stupid system, but I promised myself I never would - I'm gonna rise above these bitches and become a goddamn writer if that's the last thing I do.

Okay rant session.

Back in August, Crymsy and Bookishqueenshop partnered together and released limited time edition stickers, which they were beautiful.

So time comes and I order them. Everything goes great and they get delivered. Now my wife is an over the road truck driver. Our daughter and I ride with her. Saves money and she doesn't get to miss her growing up. Win win.

So our address is my father in laws. He collects our mail and then gives it to us when we are in town.

I love my father in law. I really do, but he lost my stickers. He can't find them at all. I am trying not to be upset with him, but those were limited edition. He doesn't even seem to care that he lost them. I understand stickers aren't important to many people, but I bought them for myself. And if you ask any who knows me, I don't ever buy things for me. So this was a big deal.

Sorry for the rant. I think my wife is tired of listening to it over and over again.

bigb schemes with mumbo and grian to lure scott into their trap

cleo overhears. she rightfully gets mad at him

bigb tells her he was lying. cleo (RIGHTFULLY) does not believe him.

he says (TO HER FACE) that he's never done something like that.

SHE RIGHTFULLY REMINDS HIM OTHERWISE.

he goes crying to ren (wholesome box boys reunion!!!).

the way he explains the situation sounds like he deadass was going to help mumbo and grian and lied to cleo about lying. which is. hysterical.

while planning, bigb sees grian in the distance.

bigb lies about killing a pig for food, sneaks off and TELLS GRIAN. ABOUT THE PLAN TO KILL HIM.

bigb still ends the session allied with ren and martyn, neither of them knowing he snitched.

by the way both plots are executed about a million miles away from bigb. he doesn't even get actually involved with either scheme he's roped into. he literally misses the grian kill because he was too busy cooking.

and then he still meets with the Gs after all that, saying sorry to scott

and then he shoots pearl. which ends in him running away as she and cleo shoot after him.

all this to say: bigb is a go-with-the-flow kind of guy. in the WORST WAY POSSIBLE. this man is not as bound to the world of roleplay and alliances which means he does whatever the fuck he wants. i stand by my theory that this man thrives best when he's a lone wolf. he does not fucking care about anyone else, the only reason he has allies is for survival!! he's just a silly guy who does what he wants!! his principles are unknowable!!! his moral compass is spinning!!! he thinks consequences don't apply to him and he's wrong but he's not going to act otherwise!!! all he knows is eat hot chip and lie. and he drives me crazy

Just found a research study that claims that consistent exposure to high g-forces can impact sperm quality to the point where the ratio of male to female offsprings leans in the favour of female offspring being more prevalent. 

Now I’m thinking about all the F1 driver-dads I know of and most of their children are female?? I need to know more on this (doesn't seem to be many sources/studies on this) but I’m mind blown

Idk if anyone has pointed this out before, but I feel like one of Mark's better traits is his compassion. I know he tends to be selfish at times (that's a discussion for another post), and a lot of people dwell on those aspects, but I love the dialogue (but mainly his actions) he has with Andressa before he leaves Thraxa.

He's on his way back to earth after helping them rebuild on their world until Andressa asks him to take Oliver. He was willing to help them some more but would be accepting to finally leaving until that point. He even conveys disbelief with a gasp at her request for a moment because his concept of family is strong (mentioning that she's his mother/so she should be the one to raise him). Instead of coming at her and giving her an attitude or outright refuse after all he's been put through and the lies he was told in order to even be there, he instead tries to comfort her during her speech. Which she stops him from doing while getting her piece in.

It would be understandable if he refused her request. After all, he still has his own life to live and the conflicting relationship he has with his father. Helping rebuild Thraxa would've been as far as he was willing to go for for all he was put through during his time there.

He's only known her for a couple of weeks at this point and understands to some degree that she's right. He tried to comfort her, and that specific scene/gesture is only a solid second, but it does well to display how willing he was to reassure her. Whether it was about the love his father had towards her or about the family he made there or even just his brother.

He even holds out his hand, indicating that he is about to physically console her during a vulnerable moment. His "wait that's not-" you can tell he was gonna tell her what she thought wasn't "true" [Wait, that's not true]. To give her some relief even though things have gone awry and with them being practically strangers. He probably even felt bad at the cold truth that his father would look for him instead of his other family, one Nolan took better care of and showed more affection to.

To him, she's just another woman his father was romantically involved with aside from his own mother and is the mother of his only brother. However, he had enough sense and compassion to try and make her feel better, even if it would've only been a moment. This probably would've been the farthest their complicated relationship could've gone, but she dismisses his attempt to try and get him to understand and try to convince him.

I also slightly think the reason Andressa kept him from getting another word in was because she didn't want this decision to weigh on him later on, to keep him from feeling bad about the situation and circumstance and take things as they are. I think in doing so, she also manages to teach him that there's value in the little things and that facing bad situations head-on can end with a positive outcome. This can also be taken as her being motherly towards him even though he isn't her child.

Yes, things went to shit but good things can still be found in the bad (Oliver). It doesn't all have to be terrible in the end. Her and her people already managed to show him that their lives are important even with how short of a lifespan they have, and by entrusting Oliver to him she directly causes him to have a better appreciation of his family, given how little time she had with hers.

I just overall loved their dynamic with how conflicting of a time it was for him. Technically, he had no reason to accept her request (nore did he owe her anything) but did so anyway. He had no relationship with Oliver, nor was it even implied he was around him often while on Thraxa. That just makes this scene all the more satisfying later on when Oliver becomes a part of his family.

I like to think he at least grieved her in his own way or thinks of her sometimes, wondering if she's finally lived out her lifespan. I also think that Andressa is part of the reason why he ends up loving Oliver so much, apart from being his only brother, he's able to see the sacrifice she was willing to make at that moment. She was content with never seeing her son again if it meant he'd take him.

At this point in the story, he understands he will have a bigger lifespan and outlive Earth, so maybe having Oliver by his side helped alleviate some of his anxiety towards that. I dont want to think about how he felt when he got back home to Debbie, especially with his interaction with Andressa being the last conversation he probably had.

That would just be heartbreaking for me to think about because later on, we see how much Debbie is willing to go for Oliver. Mark surely knows how much his mother loves him at this point, but having to see both these women be so loving and willing to sacrifice themselves for their children had to have some effect on him mentally.

Overall I'm just overanalysing a singular second of the show😔

hi guys here is your DAILY REMINDER!!!! that the only people mephone4 has ever felt love or kindness from except for MePad were not real!!! And now MePad hates him!!! And he doesnt know about social context and struggles saying "sorry" so when he tried to explain himself he just made everyone hate him more!!! And then before he could even do anything about it they all died or just vanished out of existence in front of his eyes!!! And Cobs is saying "i forgive you" and MePhone4 now feels that he's done something bad!!! Now hes being told or implied that running away and saving himself was the wrong thing to do!!! Cobs speaks the sweetest words but only the letters that are built have anything kind, theres nothing genuine there!!! Its just so that if MePhone4 tries to tell anyone, he cant.

thinking again about the narrative of control in tbs thats just weaving itself through every season. especially damien, whose entire deal is trying to keep control with his ability, and mark who was so stripped forcefully of every sense of it by the am, only to acquire damiens ability. hes still choosing to be a good person about it.

and how sam and marks relationship fell apart because sam couldnt live without some sense of control, because her ability already controlled her most of her life, so she ends up falling into a role of controlling mark and going behind his back. "thats not something you get to control and ive had enough people trying," being one of the last things in their relationship that mark tells her, because she says she wants to keep him safe.

her and joan are so similar in that regard, because they both dont trust mark when he needs it, they have their ideas and act on them without considering how life can and will change.

the problem with all these relationships and mark was the narrative of needing to control something. damien with his ability, how people act, how they are useful. sam with her anxiety and lack of trust (in herself and mark), joan because she cant let go of the way it used to be, because she hasnt been with mark in so long.

the only deeper relationship to someone else mark forms thats kicking all of this into exactly the other direction is the one he has with oliver. because oliver doesnt know him from before, and he pulls away when things get hard, instead of pushing. its funny, because youd think itd be a relief, but instead mark instantly ends up panicking. hes so used to being monitored in some way or the other that he cant handle the thought of oliver not telling him everything, or pulling away, or communicating.

when they talk about control, and oliver says they dont have it, mark says running away isnt control when its from yourself. but he ends up needing to control the one person that doesnt want to control him back because hed rather push away and self destruct.

its interesting to me how mark ends up a little bit in sams situation with oliver. just because the one time there isnt a motive he ends up immediately panicking.

thinking about how fun it would be to have an umbrella academy themed rewatch party

you could have themed snacks and drinks from the show. like glittery gold drinks that look like marigold. and twinkies and freeze dried astronaut snacks. and bacon (smuggled by lila from the lunchroom) and black coffee and donuts. and a tiki bar fruit platter and halved dumpster bagels. and hear me out: peanut butter marshmallow popcorn to represent five’s fluffernutter.

and you could have music playing when everyone’s arriving but it’s the best songs from the show’s soundtrack (in other words: all of them excluding baby shark) and everyone could dress up in the realm of their favorite character

and you could play games. like everyone guesses what character said the line (except it’s not just ‘i’m the daddy here’ and ‘you are an open book written for very dumb children’. it’s like, actually challenging quotes) or charades for different scenes and plot points

and the episodes that get rewatched could be cast in. like everyone votes on their top 10 favorite episodes out of the series and then however many are picked at random and then everyone gets comfied up and watches together :]

god if i had any irl friends who a) were extremely hyperfixated on this show or b) even watched this show at all. i would throw the coolest themed party you have no idea
