ok so i'll fully admit that my knee-jerk reaction to the Transformers One trailer was mostly confusion and a bit of "no wtf??". only because i wasn't expecting that level of humour and silliness.

then i went through the tag, read other people's thoughts, did some research, and realized it's meant to be this way!

the director's film history is exclusively in kids' movies. so this is going to be (mostly) a kids' movie! it's going to lean into the silliness and humour. and, as other people made me remember, so did G1! so did TFA! this is nothing new to Transformers! i love both of those series dearly!!

what also threw me off some of the characterizations/personalities, even their voices (Megatron's specifically). but i also have to remind myself that this is all pre-Cybertronian-civil war, pre-warlord Megatron, pre-hardened-by-loss Optimus Prime. it's an era rarely explored in any length or depth, except the War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron video games, and i guess the IDW comics... but (iirc) the video games already had Megatron as the "evil bad guy", and the comics made Orion Pax a serious-minded cop and Megatron was a serious-minded miner. (plus the comics were definitely aimed at a more mature reading age.) So this version of this era is simply a different and fresh look into it, and by no means an "OOC" version.

it's not going to be perfect, and it's not going to please every single one of us. but i'm going to keep reminding myself to keep an open mind, to not place too many specific expectations on it, and just enjoy it for what it is :) because in the end, as a Transformers fan, i'm just excited to have this movie at all ! ❤️

So Take Your Son To Work Day is a fun familial bonding story about Billy, having recently moved in with the Bromfields after finding Mary, going to Take Your Son To Work Day at Mr. Bromfield's office. It's their first time doing something just the two of them so they are trying to figure out how to connect with each other.

With a nice little side of Billy trying to tamp down his 'eat the rich' instincts around spoiled trust fund babies and their dads, of course.

Here's a little snippet!

Billy wasn’t even entirely sure what Mary’s dad did for work, let alone if he would enjoy tagging along for the day. And it wasn’t like this experience was going to change his mind about his own career plans—for once in his life he knew what that part of his future was going to look like.

He half hoped that he would get a call and have the excuse of a supervillain attack to slip away from what was sure to be a boring and potentially awkward day. But Mary had already promised to take care of any trouble that cropped up, assuring him that she and Freddy would have things covered while he and Mr. Bromfield were busy. He didn’t want her to think he didn’t trust the two of them to take care of things in Fawcett City without him. And he did promise her he’d make more of an effort to get to know her parents…

Billy bit back any last minute excuses he could come up with and stared out the window of the Bromfields’ car as the pair drove into the city.

The ride was almost unbearably silent.

god midst has been SO good so far, the structure of having it be semi improvised plus the triple narration is so cool, and each main character is flawed in ways that are super interesting, plus the music and sound design are fantastic, and the world building is horrifying in both subtle and overt ways

Okay so apparently I beat ganon and finished the game in 175 hours within nearly two months, closing in on my 6 years of botw with 420 exactly on it (accidentally XD). I've got a ways to go! But not for a bit, methinks!

Probably going to spend my time finishing quests, getting the last of the outfit pieces (WHERE is the barbarian helm?!!), upgrading armour, finding koroks, defeating bosses, exploring the skies, gathering sage wills, getting all the shrines, messing with zonai devices, looking for caves, getting all the bubble gems, meeting every npc, befriending every dog, maxxing out my horses stats, exploiting glitches, picking outfits, perfecting my holiday home, styling on lynels, gathering items and ingredients for cooking and upgrades, fusing experimental weapons, doing amateur archeology, antagonising the yiga, making recipes, refining my combat, riding dragons, maxxing out my batteries - you know, just a few things now the main quests are done.

I still very loathe the Media Trope of ‘’cold genius man doesn’t feel emotions and never has relationships... UNTIL.. one random relatively bland Preddy Woman comes along and warps his entire personality and ability to think, his heart has grown and his seeming asexuality has evaporated, he is now Normal :)” or whatever like...
