No, he didn’t.

This all happened a long time ago, and my memory is imperfect, but here’s my memory: The cock monologue certainly hurt my feelings! But when people are trying to force someone out of a virtual space, they sometimes resort to behavior that is similar to bullying except it’s not completely identical to bullying because the person they’re making fun of has a lot of power. (As someone who got bullied a lot in school, the feeling was similar in 2014 but it wasn’t identical--because I was aware of the fact that I was okay, that what was in danger was certain aspects of my identity/self-value that I treasured but not my entire personhood itself.)

Anyway, it hurt my feelings, and still hurts my feelings when I see it shared (it feels to me like a joke about my sexuality, although I understand other people don’t see it that way; but yeah, you don’t know much about my sexuality and I don’t really want you to but it feels like a joke about that to me, which just bums me out). 

But all of that stuff is a side effect of my job and having been successful at it, and I like my job. It is a great job. All jobs have aspects that suck. My job has fewer such aspects than other jobs I’ve had.

So yeah, I did not quit tumblr because of the cock monologue. (I also did not ask tumblr to make reblogs un-editable.) .

I quit tumblr because a few people started to make extremely specific threats. One might, for instance, send me an ask that featured a google streetview screenshot of my home alongside a plan for breaking into it.

I was super scared of these people (or possible person pretending to be a few people?) because they seemed to have a lot of knowledge about me and my family. We lived in a normal middle-class neighborhood in Indianapolis and I felt very exposed and nervous all the time in my real life, and eventually the freaked-out feeling just got too big and that’s why I quit tumblr.

(Edited to add: I am aware that prominent people sometimes use death threats against them to portray themselves as victims and protect themselves against justified criticism for their bigotry or abusive behavior or whatever. I don’t want to do that; it’s important to note that I have a lot of resources and power and so was able to, for instance, move to decrease the threat, which a lot of people can’t do. But I also feel like not talking about the experience honestly has not really helped me or anyone.)

I SHOULD’VE quit tumblr much earlier--I needed to realize that people weren’t comfortable with me in their virtual spaces and that to them I came across as cringey or even creepy, but at the time, I wasn’t nearly self-aware enough to leave for any of those reasons, and plus there was a lot of pressure from movie studios etc to stay on the social Internet so I could continue to promote my books and the stuff around them. So I didn’t quit when I should’ve, and as a result had and caused quite a few negative experiences for people. I’m sorry about the role I had in causing those negative experiences. I should’ve had a better understanding of not just how I experienced myself but also how other people might experience me. That’s something i’ve worked on over the years but still come up short on sometimes.

At any rate, I might delete this later because it makes me feel a bit like all my nerves are exposed to the air but I did just want to clarify that the, like, Tumblr Legend of this whole thing is at minimum a bit over simplified.

My problem is that antisemitism is at an all time high right now in part because people feel justified in it due to what Israel is doing and no one seems to be considering that or caring about it and I feel like that deserves being talked about to but it’s not being talked about by anyone except Jewish people just like it hasn’t been being talked about in circles that discuss bigotry for a long time

And I get it I get why it hasn’t been talked about I could right it off before as well I have a lot of privilege I don’t feel unsafe I don’t really experience job discrimination it’s not as bad as it was in the 50s or 60s but now it’s getting really bad and still no one is talking about it so when are we gonna talk about it? When is that time?

And I get that there’s Jewish people who are screaming antisemitism when there actually isn’t any going on so it’s just all being written off but it shouldn’t be all being written off. There’s a very real reality to some of those claims. But it’s very concerning to see Jewish people screaming about antisemitism and how unsafe they feel right now and to see people continue to completely mock and write it all off at a time when it needs to be addressed more than it ever has in the last 30 years

Edit: changed the wording around why antisemitism is at an all time high to better acknowledge that the reasons why are multifaceted and not place the onus of antisemitism on Israel and changed “we” to “I” because I cannot speak for all Jews

Codywan POTC AU ideas

Ok so people seemed to like the idea (and my lack of experience in actually making posts that reach people showed when I tried to make this post through reblogging and it didn't appear anywhere :') ) so here's what I currently have with some rough drawings!

Ideas and drawings for AU below, please feel free to use!! No idea if I'll actually write something for it, the creature in charge of driving my brain will decide I guess.

Ok so, Obi-Wan fills the role of Elizabeth and Cody is Will in terms of who’s the governor’s child (or grandchild/ward here) and who is found floating at sea with a mysterious medallion and becomes a blacksmith. Going to deviate from the story a lot but needed Cody to have that blood importance link - you will see why later.

Dooku is governor who takes in his grandson Obi Wan as his ward after Qui-Gon’s death, then brings him with him to port royal (feel like Dooku is a good fit for all the colonisation/sugar plantations/definitely not the good guy the films presented him as considering Caribbean in the 1770s.) Obi-wan and Cody grow up keeping in contact and obliviously infatuated with each other as per films.

Not sure if there’s a Norrington equivalent here. Satine would probably be the easiest fit in terms of romantic triangle but couldn’t be an exact match as she’d never be a soldier even if we ignored period accuracy (no idea if I will or not) and a lot of his actions would be an insult to her as a character. Think it would probably be that Satine and Obi-Wan are dear friends who aren’t interested in each other romantically but are being pressured to marry because advantageous match etc. (Possibility of both getting into Methodism and abolitionism through that and that being their points of discussion, and the clash occurs when from start of events of second film Obi-Wan goes and begins to take a much more active route to abolition eg. Killing slavers and boarding their ships to liberate those inside. Satine being against the killing and violence etc but thats later on!)

For Captain Jack Sparrow, who better than the greatest space pirate of them all, Hondo Ohnaka! (Was considering having Quinlan Vos for it but feel like his moral compass is too strong honestly)

As in the films, black pearl (possibly renamed) attacks the port and Obi-Wan is taken aboard with medallion when he invokes parley and, when he gives his surname as Fett, is taken away as they leave. Barbossa I’m currently thinking is Maul (which ties in beautifully and absolutely not completely accidentally with the clone wars episode where Hondo’s crew mutiny him to join Maul) who is going to manage to get singularly obsessed with Obi-Wan by the end of the events of the first film where he is not actually dead/possibly reincarnated like Barbossa in the films but blames Obi-Wan for everything (which would honestly be more justified than the root of Mauls obsession in canon).

Cody breaks Hondo out to help him rescue Obi Wan, they assemble a crew on Tortuga. Various Jedi characters will be appearing as part of a large network of escaped slaves and outlaws (for various reasons) who want to help people in similarly difficult and/or dangerous situations. The Jedi have had dealings with Hondo before and essentially have a similar reaction to him as ghost crew in rebels - don’t trust him as far as they can throw him but often forced to work with him against their better judgement.

Plot progresses as first film but more oh the real villains are the colonisers (though Maul and his crew are giving them a run for their money). Find out that not only is Fett blood needed to break the curse since Jango was involved with initial treasure taking, but there’s a mysterious extra reason why people are wanting to get their hands on a son of Fett. Murmurs of gaining favours with others saying it’s bad luck to have one on the same ship as them. Jedi and Hondo who have known Fett are also reluctant to give their opinion when Cody asks what Jango was like.

Movie accurate romantic and sexual tension between obi-wan and cody, gonna say period accurate homophobia also playing its part in stopping them acting on it.

After being rescued from being marooned Obi-Wan promises Dooku he will marry Satine if they rescue Cody, then sneaks out of ship to help take the Pearl and then on to rescue Cody. If it is Jedi in the crew they may well go with him but otherwise same as film. Hondo persuades Maul that he should become a commodore and Mauls crew “take a walk”. Then events as film but Obi wan kills Maul.

When they’re back at port royal, Cody saves Hondo from execution and Obi Wan saves them both either through really banking on his power as Dooku’s ward/heir or sneaking them away with distraction (possibly even before execution date). I quite like the second option as there’s an opportunity for using smugglers tunnels and a first, desperate kiss as Cody escapes with Hondo to join the crew on the Pearl.

So ends first film as it were. Here’s some more rough drawings of Cody and Obi-Wan start of first film vs third film. I absolutely used a reference for that first drawing of Cody and I nabbed the obi wan base for the drawings from another piece I’m working on so sorry about style discrepancies!

Second film! Satine and Obi-Wan’s wedding is taking place the next day and Cody, who has been writing letters back and forth with Obi-Wan , is waiting in the smugglers cave for him so they can run away together. But Obi-Wan never shows. Cody either hears at port or through Satine directly (who knew the plan to run away and was banking on the scandal meaning she could avoid marriage for a good while afterwards) that Obi-Wan has been taken into captivity by a Lord Palpatine/Sidious working for the interests of the East India Trading Company. The charges are for aiding and abetting pirates, his role in helping Hondo and Cody escape has been discovered apparently (maybe yes maybe no, Palpatine doesn’t give a fuck he just wants the compass). Cody somehow finds out about the compass being the wanted trade (Satine as a go between perhaps? Saying she’ll send hired men to get the thing that will save her fiancé?) and heads off in search of Hondo.

Hondo’s meanwhile been visited by an old friend to tell him it’s time to pay his debt, and the black spot appears in his hand. Surprise it’s not Jango! It’s Either Fox or Rex! Hondo scared shitless and runs ship aground on an island which is where Cody finds him and his crew at that time. (Do the Jedi help him get there??) Anyway think the island scenes will be more OFMD vibes than actual events of dead man’s chest.

Hondo tricks Cody into going onto shipwreck to search for key he’ll trade in return for compass. Flying Dutchman arrives and with it it’s captain, Darth Vader.

Another very rough drawing I added extremely rough shading to! Vader is combined Davy jones style with a vampire squid because 1) on brand 2) the membrane sections reminded me of the his mask. He’s wearing a bicorn hat which wouldn’t actually be the trend for another couple of decades but let’s just pretend Vader is incredibly fashion forward.

Cody is alive and so not of interest to Vader, until Hondo, who Vader has sensed and has appeared in front of on the Pearl, tells Vader that he’s a Fett and so part of his payment of 100 souls. Vader scoffs that a Fett son is payment of another’s debt and can’t be used by Hondo, but Hondo replies that Jango Fett died on land and so has no need to settle his debt anymore. Vader finally accepts when Hondo tells him Cody is in love, giving him a fortnight to find the other 99 souls.

Cody hasn’t heard this on the other ship so first he hears of it is Vader basically telling him and welcoming him as another son of Fett. Cody is confused when Vader tells him he can join his brothers on deck, figures he means crew mates, but instead comes face to face with dozens of men who look near identical to him in various states of ‘fishification’.

More rough drawings! I spent too much time on these but they’re still rough so heck it. Only did Alpha 17, Rex and Fox for these ones.

Alpha has been part of the crew for the longest time, as the first son that Jango Fett ‘paid his debt’ with. Torn between hair styles, but he’s turning into a great white shark. Alpha hasn’t known any life outside of the ship as he was barely walking when Jango took him to Vader. Jango essentially decided to settle his debt with Vader by making the souls to give himself because he’s a full out bastard. Mostly this meant one night stands and then showing up a few years down the line and promising to the mother he’d take care of the child.

Fox actually managed to live his life without Jango taking him as a child but it was still a hard life and he’s actually encountered Lord Palpatine/Sidious before. He doesn’t talk of that time but he has the brand on his neck from it (the pirate P). Either Palpatine killed him or eventually he either ran into Jango or those who knew of sons of Fett and believed that sending one to Vader would grant you favour from him/gain you a wish or something. It doesn’t, Vader just subtracts one from Fett’s debt. (Possibility of Palpatine killing Fox hoping to gain communication/favour with Vader?)

Rex is the most recent addition to the brothers in the crew aside from Cody. He’s only a couple of years younger and only a bit of fishification has started. He’s the most hopeful still of the brothers. He’s the one Cody trusts most and has as a confidant for his plan to steal the key.

Meanwhile Obi-Wan has escaped and disguised himself as a pirate. Manages to find Hondo and various Jedi. They may their way to island with the chest on it and Cody, who has managed to escape the Dutchman (name change pending) appears and fights Hondo.

Feel it would be kind of funny if Maul were to appear at this point and go all KENOBI, just to add to the chaos.

Vader is Anakin and fulfils the role of Davy Jones with Calypso being Padme (fun bit when they go to see her in her human form and they’re met by the handmaidens). Not a perfect fit as padme isn’t flighty and wild like the sea but hey ho. So Vader locked away his heart and trapped Padme in human form.

I honestly have no idea if the twins are running around somewhere or not and what they’re doing. Ashoka is definitely around somewhere as is Ezra and other rebels.

Had an idea of reincarnation or believed to be of Obi-Wan as someone Vader viewed as his in some way. Can either actually be reincarnation of just that they look similar/obi-wan is a descendant but Vader ends up obsessed with him which helps add validity when they pretend he’s Calypso/Padme.

Satine has been facing off with Palpatine and his cronies from a legal stand point but Palpatine isn’t playing fair or legal (particularly when he gets Vader’s heart (possibly delivered by Maul?)). Bo Katan would be sick to turn up and fight anyone and everyone.

Not sure if Jango is actually dead or not, but he had Boba and since he stuck around and loved his mother he thinks of him as his true child and has amazing cognitive dissonance to not be horrified and trying to rescue the others. But think he’s probably dead and boba’s running around somewhere not even aware how much danger he’s in (but possibly told by Jango not to tell people his real surname).

Oh also! Note on initial drawing - so I imagine that occurring with Mace Windu filling the role of Barbossa in the wedding scene!

Anyway hope there’s something in here that intrigues people!

First and foremost, I want to say that I'm big on "do what you want forever" when it comes to fandom, even if I hate a certain ship. Just because I post about hating something (because it's my opinion and I can also do what I want forever), doesn't mean I'm gonna police or attack people who love it. I have like 4 or 5 mutuals who like michie! I'm completely fine with others liking it, it's just not my thing and since you asked, I'm gonna tell you why.

I don't understand it at all. Max is a vicious, vicious bully, who terrorizes Richie and his friends for literally no fucking reason. He's constantly on a power trip and he enjoys it, and no matter what his home life is like, I don't think that justifies his actions. It doesn't justify his actions. The entire school lives in fear of him, the entire school has physically or emotionally felt his wrath, even his so called "friends", Kyle and Jason. Hell, Richie says he used to not be able to even open his locker out of fear. If Max hadn't died, and if he had genuinely worked on himself, the absolute MOST I could see between him and Richie is a shaky acquaintanceship. I don't think anyone would want ANYTHING to do with him for a very long time, once they knew it was safe to not suck up to him.

I don't understand how people can watch the Nerdy Prudes Must Die song and scene and think it's mutual-love relationship material. Richie's death is genuinely haunting, even only the parts we see of it. Richie is sobbing, begging for his life, and Max taunts him, and you think that's fluffy? And reminder - we don't actually see Richie's real death. We see Max about to strike and laugh maniacally before the lights go black, but at the beginning Bailey says Richie was purple-nurpled and swirlied to death. At the beginning and in Richie's death scene, we hear Max calling out for him, toying with him like predator and prey.

A lot of people make ghost Max out to be nothing that he is in canon, a lot of people make him a goofy guy who is just mildly annoyed by Richie's and Ruth's ghosts. And while canon Max has his funny and silly moments, it's important to remember his actual character and what he represents - a figurative and literal monster. In fanon, people erase all of Max's bad traits, which is what his entire character is meant to be. He's not some dumb himbo, he's a bully. He's meant to represent a real thing that hurts and even kills real people. It's a disservice to take that from him.

I've seen certain Michie works put emphasis on Richie being the one to forgive Max, and not Max taking the long road to work on himself, when in reality it is NEVER on the victim to forgive their abuser. Even if Max works on himself and redeems himself to the best of his ability, even if he gives Richie the most sincere apology in the multiverse, Richie does not have to forgive him. He does not owe him that. And I don't think Richie would forgive him, at least not for a long, long time.

And also, if you want to ship Richie with someone who needs a little redemption, Jason Jepson is right there, and it's a way more probable ship than Michie ever has the capacity of being.

Things that are completely normal with DID and don't indicate that you're faking/don't have it/etc. that I haven't seen many others point out

Please understand that my posts are about DID and OSDD only. They do not include endogenic plurality, but anyone is welcome to reblog this and interact. Just please don't make this post about endogenic plurality when it is not, thank you!

Obligatory disclaimer that I am in no way a professional, should not be treated as such, and please don't take this post as a means to diagnose. Also I mostly say DID in this, but these extend to OSDD as well.

Having really good communication; being able to communicate very easily and quickly. Being able to communicate in very obvious ways, having distinct voices internally.

Maybe you thought that you had imaginary friends all your life and you just happen to have always communicated with them really well under the guise of "imaginary friend" (or "characters" or something else). Maybe you naturally have high levels of communication because that's what you needed to survive. Maybe it was normal in your family and that's why it was normal for you. Or any other reason.

Having really poor communication, or not have ANY communication at all; not hearing any voices whatsoever, communicating through imagery, feelings, etc. rather than words, communication that is practically nonexistent.

Most people have little to no communication with their parts at first, especially if you went many, many, many years past adulthood without knowing about them. Maybe having little to no communication was needed for your survival. Or any other reason.

Or experiencing a completely different way of communicating with one another.

Maybe you can only talk to each other through journalling to each other when you switch. Maybe you can only talk to each other through talking out loud. Maybe through recording, or through another person communicating for you. Or any other ways.

Being incredibly high functioning where you don't appear to have any PTSD symptoms (or DID symptoms) to a point where you can hold down a job well, cook, clean, drive, etc.

Being incredibly low functioning to a point where you're unable to do things like work, cook, clean, etc.

Being around the middle, or fluctuating around.

Feeling like your alters are completely separate people with completely separate feelings, lives, opinions, thoughts, etc. Being open about yourselves as separate individuals online and to close friends/family/others.

Feeling like your alters are only extensions of you with not many differences.

Feeling like some alters are separate people and some alters aren't.

Feeling like your alters are sometimes separate people and sometimes not.

Feeling in between any of these.

Some people just happen to have very different alters with very different names/pronouns/thoughts/opinions/etc. Others don't. Some might have a combination of some alters who feel very different and individual from others, while other alters not so much. All of these are okay, normal, common, and valid.

Having many alters; hundreds, dozens, thousands, whatever.

Having few alters; just 2 or 3 or 7 or so on.

Constantly splitting new alters and fragments very easily, even if you don't seem to be going through any kind of stress or trauma or difficulties.

Constantly splitting new alters and fragments that don't end up "coming back" (maybe they integrated or something else).

You don't need to call yourself polyfragmented or figure out if you could be polyfragmented in order to "justify" to yourself why you could be splitting so much, so often. You COULD be polyfragmented, or you might not be, but regardless, if that's the way your system works, then that's the way it works.

Having MANY introjects, either of real people, from media, or elsewhere.

Having LITTLE introjects or NO introjects.

Having MOSTLY FICTIONAL introjects, especially if you tend to be someone who greatly takes comfort in media and often engages in different media.

Having MOSTLY introjects of real people you know or knew, especially if you tend to be someone who gets attached to real people very quickly, very easily, and very deeply.

...As well as: having many child alters/teen alters/adult alters, or having none or few of those - especially if most of your trauma happened as a child/teen; having many nonhuman alters, or no nonhuman alters or few of those - especially if you grew up FEELING nonhuman due to trauma or something else. Having object alters - many of them, none of them, or few of them, or even alters who identify as or with objects - especially if you went through trauma that you feel like an object, or if you found/find comfort through objects.

HAVING A SYSTEM THAT UNINTENTIONALLY FOLLOWS A "THEME"! Such as having a lot of alters that happen to follow a "space" theme via having a lot of alters with space-related names, or having a lot of alters that happen to be introjects of a single piece of media, or having a lot of alters that seem to have a different "aesthetic theme" for literally any reason whatsoever. I haven't seen this talked about, and while it's not super common, it's not impossible, it doesn't mean you're faking, or that someone else is faking either.

Knowing a lot about yourselves, knowing a lot about your precise origins, why and how and when you split, knowing a lot about what names and pronouns you like, knowing a lot about your identities and what you like and dislike and what hobbies you have.

Knowing nothing about yourselves, to a point you genuinely don't know what or who any of your alters are. Not knowing how to tell if something is an alter, or still you; not knowing what any of your names are, if you have any; literally not knowing anything about any of yourselves, like literally NOTHING, not even who you could be as a specific alter or if you're the "host" or anything.

Actively choosing to learn about yourselves and become self-aware; actively making the choice to figure out your hobbies as yourself, actively making the choice to figure out your likes and dislikes, your opinions, feelings, and how they may or may not differ from other alters.

Being extremely similar and not very different from one another; sharing the same hobbies, speaking without any differences in voice, sharing the same opinions and feelings, using the same name, using the same set of pronouns, etc.

Feeling like you're the only person with DID who has your experience(s), and feeling very isolated and lonely from the community as a result.

Having a lot of amnesia that is very obvious to you and/or others.

Having very little amnesia that isn't obvious and would likely not be noticed unless you were looking for it.

Amnesia that mostly looks like forgetfulness and micro-amnesia.

Memories that are constantly shared between alters.

Not being sure if you have amnesia and struggling to figure out if you do.

Having a lot of flashbacks and nightmares; having flashbacks and/or nightmares that can leave you bedridden for days or weeks. Having flashbacks/nightmares that are very frequent and often make life difficult.

Having very minimal nightmares/flashbacks. Having flashbacks/nightmares that seem to have no effect on you (having a nightmare, but not necessarily waking up in distress, or having a flashback that does not necessarily cause you to have an "extreme" reaction).

Sometimes having flashbacks or nightmares, sometimes not having them. Fluctuating between some weeks where you struggle greatly with flashbacks/nightmares, while other weeks it's the opposite.

Reasons for my disabled Xion headcanon below the cut (the summary bc otherwise I will go all day):

Xion is obsessed with “usefulness” and only considers illness in light of how it will affect her productivity or burden others

Xion is also very preoccupied with whether or not she is worthy of existence

Xion experiences chronic episodes of dizziness, migraines, fatigue and fainting. This comes from how her body reacts to her paradoxical existence and how the state of that existence relates to the simultaneous nature of Sora, Roxas and Naminé

The way her body attacks itself because it knows something is wrong is so so real as a disability allegory immune systems be like that

She collects shells!!! And stims with them by rubbing them!!! And gives people them as her love language!!! Autism!!!! And she carries them around in her big dramatic coat pockets! Me frrrrr

Also having Nobodies as a dissociation/low empathy allegory effects her character a lot, including how she and Roxas don’t really understand most phrases and social norms… autisma…!…

She spends a lot of time in bed recovering from fainting episodes and dizzy spells

Roxas’s comas usually have clear causes that correlate with events such as Sora being put to sleep, but for Xion it’s usually just because she’s in burnout. My girl’s a spoonie

Another autism moment is how ???? her gender is. She’s widely considered to be a trans allegory and autistic people are statistically more likely to experience gender in abnormal ways/be nonbinary so wahahaha my headcanons support each other that’s how right I am

The separation from her body that comes with finding out she is a replica is a good parallel with disability mourning (as well as dpdr and gender dysphoria)

She’s also very fixated on whether or not she is “real” and how she could become real and is referred to as an object or a doll/puppet by a lot of other characters, which is a big trope in disabled media

Overall her internalized dehumanization and ableism is a big part of her character

She also parrots back ableist things people have said to her in order to justify not asking for help, especially when Roxas and Axel try to convince her that she comes first

There’s some dialogue from other characters where several of them mention how they think she’s overworking herself and is too invested in seeking approval

Saïx calling her a “waste” is a big part of her character arc. As is losing to Riku, which is stupid because he’s older than her and has more experience

When Roxas gets sick she immediately recognizes him hiding his symptoms, working too hard and refusing help and begs him to be gentle with himself because she understands exactly what he’s going through

Her body and abilities are consistently depicted as being unstable in nature overall. Her magic and abilities are unreliable and can stop working for seemingly no reason

She also has a high sense of justice, starts out nonverbal, displays limited emotions when not having a breakdown and is very rule focused + takes what authority figures say at face value. My little yippee

She’s very quiet overall and also stays in her hood a lot, which is common for Nobodies to disguise her identities but she’s also very inexpressive when hooded and is only verbal with effort. She retreats into her hood when overwhelmed pretty consistently, especially when she doesn’t want to engage emotionally. In the manga she is shown to typically be expressionless when in this state.

She’s doomed by the narrative and she knows it

She was basically made as a backup in case Roxas and Sora couldn’t be useful to the organization, so her body is reacting to how there’s several pieces of herself missing and how they all exist simultaneously and effect each other constantly even though they’re all completely separate people. It’s implied that only absorbing Roxas and Sora would allow her to have a stable body. She opts to have Sora absorb her instead.

I think??? That this is one of my favorite characterizations of yan!venti ever?? Considering what else I’ve seen posted for yan Venti, I loved the take that he knows that this is wrong, knows he is going against the thing he is the god of!! But he still goes through with it- and since both incomprehensible and good wine are both Venti POV, we get to see what he is thinking as he acts(and why he does certain things tbh). The way he chooses to not react much when the reader tries to jump in Good Wine despite the fact he is heartbroken that they tried that? The fact he stops himself from crying because despite the fact he knows the tears would be real, he is aware that although it could help now, it would only be used against him as a trick later? How he still tries to be caring and kind while also being completely self aware of the situation he is in? THE WAY HE IS SO CALM AND THINKING OVER EVERYTHING HE SAYS BECAUSE IT MATTERS SO MUCH IN THIS SITUATION?

Venti may be a bard but in case he is an actor performing for the sole audience of one. Both stories remind me a little about how Venti acting during his story quest at part in the statue. Like he is Barbatos the god and not a simple bard. It was a cool take to see!

I’m using this ask as an excuse to answer a quasi-question posed by Two in their reblog of my thing, which is generally bad form for writers but whatever.

It would take a lot. Kidnapping you is one thing. He can justify that in his head, that your time is so limited that every second counts. He can lie to himself, tell himself that what he’s doing really isn’t that bad because, at the end of the day, you’re mortal, and any suffering you may endure is going to last you, at most, less than a century. That does not apply if you are immortal. His immortality is the entire reason he let himself kidnap an innocent person in the first place. To make you experience the pain of being stagnant as the world moves on without you, to him, is a fate worse than death. What if, by some miracle, he died? He couldn’t leave you to suffer the way he did before he met you, leave you to watch the people you love die around you with nobody to help you through it. He wouldn’t forgive himself.

Having said that, I could absolutely see him try to make you immortal if he thought you were in immediate mortal danger. I could see him panic and move to do it without considering the consequences and then never being able to look at himself again because of it. If you tried to kill him for it he would honestly help you because it is what he deserves.

I do not think takes like this are good. To my mind, eroge or lewd content featuring completely fictionalized teenaged/ostensibly teenaged characters who are drawn/imagined/played by adults isn't "child porn" any more than the John Wick series are snuff films, and in both cases the reasons why the genuine article is bad but faking it is okay is because doing the real thing causes actual harm to someone (e.g., unethical exploitation of a child, or someone's actual death)

If there isn't actually any harm to be prevented (and there's no evidence, to my knowledge, that lolicon art leads to child abuse), then what you're actually saying is "I'm uncomfortable with this being depicted so I don't think it should be allowed to exist" and I'm not comfortable with that moralism being applied to art in general because I don't think anyone should get to decide what is and isn't off-limits to depict in art. And I also don't think we get to defend some art on these grounds but also make exceptions for things we specifically don't like

It's fine to not want to watch teenagers fuck or read about teenagers fucking, but plenty of teenagers fuck in real life, and plenty of people write about it or make art about it or have experiences to relate about that and they should be allowed to talk about it. People should also be allowed to write about age gap relationships or incest or rape or violence or abuse or whatever other "taboo" things they feel like. These are things that are part of the human experience and people should be allowed to depict and talk about them to any extent they feel like and they shouldn't be required to justify themselves when someone is personally uncomfortable with their art

I've met actual lolicon fans (a fair amount of whom are queer or trans folks) and they do not support child abuse! A lot of people who make or enjoy lolicon art aren't making it to be pedophiles or abuse children, but often rather because they themselves were abused as children and enjoy lolicon because they feel like it allows them a safe space to work through their trauma or whatever other feelings they have and like

I don't get that! Not completely. I'm not one of those people. But I also don't think we need to get it, or that people are required to have experienced child abuse to enjoy lolicon art, or justify to others why they enjoy it.

And also historically when anyone with any power tries to any significant degree to ban "only the bad/icky stuff" it results in a lot of genuine queer art by queer people* getting caught in the crossfire (almost as if that is the intention!), and often those casualties include queer art that isn't in any way obscene or salacious, and anyway

Which incidentally has been a side effect of Steam arbitrarily banning visual novels that are not porn! (or as in the case of that one Sonohana game that got banned, had the porn cut out of the Steam version)

These kinds of takes also really bother me when people bring up Happy Sugar Life or Onimai or Citrus or whatever and imply that these stories are somehow irredeemably morally abhorrent and they shouldn't be allowed to exist. Like... okay, you can not like these things, or not find them meaningful, but, is it actually hurting anyone to tell this story? Shouldn't it be allowed to exist for the people who do like it?

An example in this regard I bring up a lot is this Anifem article on Happy Sugar Life. The author simultaneously argues "this manga helped me work through my shit" but also "this manga is morally abhorrent and should not be read or recommended to anyone ever".

Again, I cannot stress that this story is not a lost gem. I came not to praise Happy Sugar Life but to bury it. The manga ends with a childhood suicide pact, for crissakes. And Shio, just as much a victim of recurrent abuse as Satou is, gets very little depth outside of being Satou’s motivation. Horrifically enough, the manga all but confirms Shiho’s damnation into the same twisted, obsessive cycle that Satou was trapped in until the end. I absolutely needed this manga, and I don’t regret reading it. But good lord, it is not good. This is a guilty pleasure that stays firmly in “guilty.” I don’t think there’s anyone out there I can safely recommend it to—I side-eye a lot of people who like it, especially when they start praising its “awesome yandere protagonist” or its worst possible take on “be gay, do crime.”  And, Christ, I would never plug this to an abuse survivor. I joy-rode this tour-de-madness, but even I still spent a week afterward somewhere between “destabilized” and “no bath or shower will make me feel clean.”

I feel like there's a really absurd doublethink being particularly pronounced here, like, it needs to be qualified that this is a "wrong" piece of art, before they can say "here's why I liked it anyway", and this is a kind of duality you see a lot, where it feels like people are obligated to excuse or apologize for engaging with and finding some merit in the "bad" thing. This feels like a positive review of the manga that is reviewing it favorably from a lens that engaged with the story on its own merits, that also isn't "allowed" to be that, because the writer isn't "allowed" to just say that they liked it or found value in it

I think fiction is allowed to depict emotionally uncomfortable or morally dubious or socially taboo things, because those things are potentially interesting and art is less interesting if it's limited in what it can be about, and I don't think that creating such things or liking them reflects poorly on either the artist or the audience, or that anyone has any business enforcing limits on what's acceptable to depict in art, and people shouldn't be required to present a "why this actually has artistic value and is therefore one of the exceptions from being problematic" take in order to be allowed to like a thing

Y/n, a fresh graduate, twenty-three, and the most gorgeous woman Harry has ever seen. He was and is obsessed with her.

He was shitfaced when she approached him to say hello, but he made his move (the wedding band still on his finger and all). But with the help of God, she still talked to him and they made plans to meet the next day for brunch.

They seemed like a perfect match. Both adoring of the soft rock music genre, in love with reading, and hopeless romantics, they fell into conversation easily. For the next three days of their trip, they were attached by the hip. Need y/n? She's with harry, and vise versa.

Soon enough they had to go back to their homes in LA. With the trip being over, most assumed the small friendship the two would slowly drift away, but that was further from the truth. If anything, they grew closer together.

Practically, every moment not at work they were together, and they both wanted more than they were getting from a simple friendship. A few weeks after the wedding trip ended, they were officially dating.

Y/n wasn't innocent in this relationship in anyway shape or form. She knew damn well her boyfriend was married, but she was in deep. Harry makes her feel things she's never felt before. He brings her joy, comfort, security and she can't give that up if she wanted to, She would go as far as to say she loves him.

Since the beginning of the relationship, she has been trying to justify it. Not even to other people, but to herself.

"He's going to leave her soon."

"They don't have kids, so it's not as bad."

"She doesn't treat him right."

"Their marriage is over, they just haven't signed the papers."

On and on the excuses go. You can't convince her what she's doing is adultery, to her it's just unconventional love.

The kicker is that they haven't even had sex yet. Y/n is a virgin and she wants Harry to change that. Never in her life has she been so compelled to give all of her to a person. But she also didn't think she would be a homewrecker. Things have changed. They have done some things that have all been new to y/n, but mainly it's heavy petting.

Y/n is ready to give her all to harry, but would he do the same?

They are laying down in y/n's bed, half naked waking up to the morning sun. Harry told his wife he was going on a business trip for a week so he can stay with y/n for an extended amount of time. Cuddling face towards the other, smiling at the closeness. Completely content with each other's presences.

She brings her forhead to Harry's and whispers, "are you even real?"

Some thoughts on Nazi morale

That earlier reblog about bullies and leverage coupled with some recent news coverage has me in the mind to do a little public educating about the complete lack of a spine any given nazi out there has, the weird rituals and behaviors this leads to, and how some basic knowledge about all this leaves them a completely toothless threat in the vast majority of situations.

The really important thing to remember here, and I always have to remind people I’m not saying this to be mean, but because it is true, and genuinely important to understand, is that to become a nazi you first have to be just the most absolutely pathetic loser in the world. For real, it’s baked in. They have this whole mythology about their own innate superiority and right to rule over everyone else in the world based on some pure magical bloodline BS, but that’s inseparable from the fact that none of them actually have any sort of real power or success or happiness or friends. It’s not some class of nobility making stuff up about traits they have that justify their position. It’s just pathetic losers imagining all this secret untapped potential they have and then a whole second set of fictional beliefs about how everyone else in the world is keeping them back from realizing that potential by cheating at life somehow, all as a pretense for how they’re going to actively do every underhanded thing they can to get to their “rightful” place.

The two important takeaways here are that from the get-go the whole experience of being a nazi involves just this constant immersion in propaganda, self-delusion, and keeping up kayfabe that they have no barometer for what the reality of any situation is (our enemy is simultaneously weak and strong, etc.) and that there are in fact many very real reasons a given nazi’s life falls so short of the life they tell themselves they “should be” living which they’re never going to examine.

All in all, they just... don’t do well in reality. They don’t know anything, they have no social skills, they don’t really have the drive to actually do anything with their lives. They need hype and propaganda like a normal person needs oxygen. And while they’re never going to sit down and really self-reflect on that, they at least get that getting all hyped up and having people cheer them on is important for some reason or other. So here’s how that works out in terms of interactions with the real world.

Most of the time, a nazi just kinda sits around in their little isolation bubble where they don’t interact with anyone besides other nazis, and most of that is one-sided in the form of watching propaganda videos and following simple instructions. Every so often, one of them gets hyped up enough by the bootlicking the rest do to delude himself into thinking he has some sort of actual power to flex, and it’s time to plan an attack. “An attack” can take a lot of different forms. Might be a big organized effort to do something that gets national media coverage, might be terrorizing a single arbitrarily selected teenage girl. Might be a weird elaborate prank. This year for pride month for instance, some nazi had the bright idea to set up a website selling poison as fake HRT drugs and having followers hype it up with impersonations of trans people. The one important thing though is that unless the target is proven and tested as “safe” previously, it’s always going to take the form of something with basically zero risk of blowback or personal harm.

Letter-writing campaigns are a very popular choice. It’s pretty trivial to set up a burner e-mail account (or several thousand even) paste a form letter in, and hit send. Tracing it back to you would be a huge pain, and not something most people would even be inclined to do if you don’t use overtly violent language. This has been the absolute backbone of nazi attacks for the past decade or two at least. Other stuff gets more sensationalized, but if you look at the internal operations of something like Gamergate, 98% of it has always been form letters addresses and quota goals, trying to get various organizations to make public statements or fire people they’d arbitrarily chosen to target.

Now, this is the really important part. People often mistake nazi letter writing campaigns or similar activities for the real thing. When actual normal people organize a letter-writing campaign, it’s collective action. Can we show that enough people care strongly about this thing the company is doing that they reconsider if it’s worth it? If so, hey, mission accomplished, score one for direct feedback over flawed marketing research, everyone moves on with their lives. I feel like legitimate letter writing campaigns are pretty passe, with social media attention grabs having taken over the niche (which nazis will also imitate, but random burner accounts have less impact there). Still, people in positions to field these e-mails are largely still trained, I assume, with metrics like “if X number of e-mails come in griping about something, tell management, we’ll do what we need to to shut people up.”

Nazis however do not organize campaigns like this for the same reason, and capitulating is a tremendously bad idea.

Nazis do letter writing campaigns as a safe form of organizing an attack. It’s testing the waters. The entire purpose is to determine if and how the target will react to what perceived weight they are able to safely through around. If they go, “hey, video game company, apparently one of your employees once did a risque photo shoot, are you OK with values like that?” or “I don’t like seeing a bunch of queer pride stuff when I walk into a store” those aren’t customers you have to worry about losing if they don’t get what they want. That’s a predator in the woods staring you down to see if you’re going to hold your ground or if you’re going to try to run.

See, the whole “our enemies are both weak and powerful” thing completely destroys nazis’ risk assessment capabilities, so they’re relying on yours instead. If they try to scare you with a letter writing campaign about lost sales (or for that matter, if they’re trying to scare you with anonymous letters threatening you with violence), they aren’t making a demand. They’re asking if you are afraid of them. Because if you’re afraid of them, that means they can escalate to attacks that carry more personal risk to them, with the confidence that you aren’t going to fight back.

So what happens is you have the mistaken impression that you can just fire this one employee or pull this one marketing promotion and that’ll be the end of it, but now suddenly you have people showing up in your spaces acting violent. Not so violent it’s likely going to lead to a physical altercation (they’re still testing the waters and building up to that), they’re probably just going to shout slurs at your actual customers to scare’em off, or camp out like they own the place, maybe they smash up some products on shelves if they’re feeling really spicy. And if you don’t respond to THAT in a way that makes them think twice about messing with you, they’re going to keep on escalating, with threats to your employees and families, actual physical attacks, maybe some fires or bombs.

Also every time they take a bite out of someone and it doesn’t turn out to be more than they can chew, it’s just this huge rallying moment they use to do more recruiting and pushing for bolder attacks elsewhere, so they just become more of a threat to the whole world because you went and flinched.

On the upside, you can pretty much always deescalate things no matter how far they get just by demonstrating you aren’t afraid. You just have to do two things. Forcefully rebuke them, and loudly and publicly acknowledge that what you are doing is showing nazis that they can’t push you around. No euphemisms. If you don’t explicitly specify “nazis” or some more specific organization (Proud Boys, TERFs, whathaveyou) they’re going to internally spin that as you secretly being on their side. People constantly falter here and get stuck dealing with the same attacks forever as a result.

Also when I say “forcefully rebuke them” there’s a lot of ways you can do that, but you will need to step it up based on how far you’ve let things go. If you’re just course correcting because you realized you caved to a nazi letter writing statement, a big public retraction should have you covered. If they’re showing up on your doorstep in riot gear, you might need to get a little physical. You don’t have to like, walk up to whoever’s at the front of the crowd and see how many times his head bounces when it hits a concrete slab (although I’m sure that would be quite effective. You can literally throw a milkshake at one of these losers and he’ll start crying and run away like you threw a brick.

FROZEN III

Actually, I wanted to leave Tumblr in a few days and haven't been active for months, with the exception of my big project, the fanfic blog. The Frozen fandom was unfortunately almost dying due to a lack of new Disney content and many moved on to new shores, such as Arcane or Encanto etc., which strengthened my decision. But now the third part of Frozen has officially been announced and I'm more or less back on Tumblr as long as my time allows.

Guys, the Frozen hype is back and I'm totally happy about it. I still remember the beginning when the first leaked image of Frozen II surfaced, a photo of a Russian Disney calendar. That was the beginning for me to get into international fandom and it was a really good decision. All the speculations and discussions about the possible plot of Frozen II was really exciting and I met a lot of people on Tumblr because of it.

As you all know, unfortunately the fandom split after the release of Frozen II because Disney completely screwed up the ending in the eyes of many. There have been pretty drastic new movements within the fandom, such as BEH and the likes. Many fans have blocked each other on social media platforms because of this and new hatred has arisen. The worry that Disney will now screw it up again is still pervasive today and some, including myself, now fear the worst for the third part. Why? Because Disney has so far always targeted the kids between 3 and 12 and completely ignored us older, adult fans (hence the hasty change in Frozen II, ordered by a person of a higher pay grade than Jen Lee, Chris Buck & Co). It is questionable what would have happened if the original plans had been realised, but such speculation is pointless. So what can we expect from the third part in a few years? And unfortunately we will have to wait that long! The same disaster? Quite possible! In any case, I have drastically lowered my expectations this time. I will definitely watch Frozen III, but possibly not as often as the previous films.

For this reason, my activity on this platform will certainly be somewhat different in the future and I won't be reblogging as many posts, mainly due to a lack of private time. But nevertheless I still have a lot of old posts in my drafts, which I will now post bit by bit.

Well, since there are still a few years to go before Frozen III is released and the fears about a bad plot are quite justified, I would like to draw your attention to a new Frozen book. It's nothing official and definitely wouldn't be sanctioned by Disney, but it's already 342,000 words, so it's bigger than any of the previous official Frozen books, written for the adult fans (18+ in places!) and free too!

I'm talking about my big fanfiction project, written by a big Frozen fan for all the other Frozen fans. I'm writing on my novel since May 24, 2020 and started it again on my new blog on June 19, 2021, so i'm working on my Frozen III novel since nearly 4 years now. A few months more for part V and the ending and it will be exactly 4 years! And that's my plan, to finish my book before any news about the plot of Frozen III will be available.

I already have a lot of followers on my blog, so if you get bored waiting so long for the new movie, I recommend you give my epic FIII story a try. The title is "The Broken Bridge" and it includes nearly all known characters of the Frozen verse plus a bunch of my own OCs. I can promise you an exiting story full of twists and surprises plus an extended view of the Northuldra, based on the real Sámi people. I did a lot of research to keep my story as realistic as possible and included as much canon facts as possible too. But be warned, it also includes some erotic moments (Kristanna, Elsamaren), violence and brutality near the end of part VI, plus a real evil Villain. My heroes are not who or are as you expect and the Northuldra (plus other families) play a very big role in my book.

Related to my previous reblog, I don't actually have that many REAL interactions in any fandom, but I am hopelessly biased due to my favorite interaction ever. I just. Made a (pretty much joke) post about how ppl can think whatever they want, but I found it funny how strictly the MDZS fandom would criticize side characters with comparatively less brutality in a story where the main character made someone cannibalize himself and had another character bite off his dick (or however it went specifically), and some random person I had never seen before in my life just dropped several paragraphs justifying torture. Just a whole, "this was a justified punishment" type thing for some reason??? Which, like, sure, whatever, I eventually got where they were coming from, but the complete tonal shift and confidence to just start arguing(?) with some random person blew me out of the water. I had fun, but is nothing - not even cannibalistic dick jokes - sacred??

in honkai star rail, a character called sparkle used a romani slur and mocked another character for being a sigonian, which is basically a fantasy race of people in the hsr universe. this was played off in the storyline almost like a joke, and was completely out of line for hoyoverse. this was yet another display of hoyoverse's racism and racist writing, except this was so blatant and obvious in the storyline that i literally just couldn't comprehend how people were still justifying it

the only real adressing of the issue that im aware of was when people claimed it was just a translation mistake bc the company apparently used a faulty ai website to translate, which seems sketchy af, but also the fact that they're using ai to translate in general when they're a large company is concerning in and of itself (this is just one thing i've heard, i looked into it as best i could so i believe it's accurate but hoyoverse hasn't made an official statement on it so please correct me if im wrong)

the overall racism within the game in general and the fact that they incorporated racism into the plot yet never truly resolved it is disappointing

and finally, the last reason i stopped, was the overall toxicity of some of the fans. there were so many people who were so genuinely racist about the situation and people who were defending hoyoverse from a very toxic standpoint, and i just didn't want to be involved anymore

Gruvians: It's just fiction! stop taking it so seriously! Also Gruvians: writes long metas on why the ship is brilliant, stalks accounts they were blocked by to bitch about said account not liking their ship, stalks posts they disagree with & vehemently reading the tags within each reblog of said posts & treats head canons such as a Gray liking Lucy & Erza first before Juvia as some sort of personal attack against them.

A large part of the GrUvia fanbase seems to be built on insecurity, and I think that for exactly the reasons you mentioned.

The GrUvia ship has come under a lot more scrutiny than most other ships in Fairy Tail, and I think it's resulted in them being completely unwilling to think about their ship in any kind of nuance.

One of our friends once mentioned that they don't support the ship in one of the most innocent ways possible, and it led to several days worth of battling with GrUvia fans and explaining her stance and why she was justified in her opinion. It got to the extent that she had to explicitly state that she would not be responding to any more asks because she didn't want her blog to become known for being anti-GrUvia. Just for stating an opinion. That is how quick the ship's fanbase are to anger.

You're either supportive and unequivocally good, or you're not and you must be attacked.

We've seen evidence that this has even extended over their ability to think critically about each other. We've received asks about how there is a psychologist in the GrUvia fanbase who thinks that the ship is healthy, and one of our admins was in the fandom when the whole GrUvia University thing went down. If I was a GrUvia fan, I would be disgusted by how they're treating people.

They cannot handle the idea that there is a space that exists in the Fairy Tail fandom that doesn't welcome them. Whenever we post things with the tagline "GRUVIA FANS: DO NOT INTERACT" we'd get at least 1 ask from a butt-hurt fan who could not find it in themselves to take our advise to block us and move on, and instead had tantrums after tantrums in our ask box.

(Hi, one of the other admins here popping in for just a second! Quick tw for a mention of stalking. I’ve been doxxed twice, I still get sent death threats, harrassed online, harassed in real life, and my stalker used this ship as an example of why I had to fall in love with him if he just kept trying. I personally am convinced that they’re too stupid to realize how hypocritical they are when they say don’t apply it to real life. Fiction always affects reality, even when it’s not blatantly obvious, and people really need to be more conscious of that and the fact that there are levels to it. A character’s favorite color may not have a big impact in real life, but normalizing abusive relationships has a massive negative impact, as seen by all the victims sharing their stories on this blog and those who share their stories elsewhere, because let’s face it, this nasty ship is not the only time an abusive relationship has been romantisized.

That being said, this does not mean all GrUvia shippers are stalkers/abusers. Fiction does affect reality, but that doesn't mean it controls reality. People have moral compasses, and sometimes they like to explore weird/amoral/dark things in fiction, and it's better to do that in ficiton than in real life. The problem lies within the fact that the vast majority of them that I have personally interacted with (<- reread the bold part and use your reading comprehension skills please) have been willing to doxx, harass, or abuse others. Pro-Juvia and Pro-grUvia shippers are notorious for these things, but some anti-Juvia and Anti-GrUvia people are too. The problem lies within the attitude of the shippers even more so than the ship itself. If we could both have conversations about it, with respect that neither side is going to change the other's thoughts and opinions, then the fandom would be a much happier and safer place.

Personally, I would love if we could just coexist and enjoy Fairy Tail together. Alas, it is not meant to be, hence the creation and necessity of this vent space)

On some level, I do feel bad for the GrUvia fanbase that they have to exist with so much scrutiny. But then I remember the content of the ship itself, and I genuinely think that they've only ever made it worse for themselves by being aggressive.

If the fandom was able to have discussions like this, to talk about ships through a critical lens and have an actual conversation about this, the ship would still be awful. But the fandom, itself, wouldn't be viewed as this group of people with the mental complexity of toddlers.

This is going to sound so stupid but im intimidated by you and no not because of you as a person or how you come across, but because of your looks and body - im ugly and overweight. So when I see someone who I think is beautiful doesn’t matter about the size of them, I get defensive real quick, some pretty girls are very mean. I’ve been trying to work on it truly but being bullied for years at school has kind of made me like this. Please don’t think I’m trying to shame you or make you feel uncomfortable I am not, that’s not what I’m trying or wanting to do! I think your a very beautiful person!

I don’t think you are an intimidating or rude person, like you said you’ve put walls around yourself which I completely understand, what I think is the problem that online you can’t tell if someone’s be rude or sarcastic or genuine. I’m quiet good with sarcasm but reading it my mind goes blank. I think that people take things way to heart, or don’t understand what’s being said or how it’s coming across if that makes sense?

The only reason why I came to tumblr last year was to escape what was going off in my real life, lost 8 family members in 2 years all one after another pretty much. Since I found your blog it’s become a safety net for me, not only do you write incredible pieces (all of your whump and angst fics break my heart because I’m an emotional wreck) but it’s a safe and open place to talk about things I could never ever talk openly about to my family, I have 12 brothers I’m the only girl and also the youngest. Your such an open and honest person which is quite rare to find nowadays.

With the reblogs at first I never did it because I thought I was doing something wrong (did i tell you am stupid?) I do it now though, even if the only followers I have are those annoying fake accounts, I’m hoping their fake because they keep asking me if I want to meet up and have sex😳. It is annoying for me as a reader and follower not to see you get the recognition you and a lot of amazing writers deserve. I’ll keep rebloging your work. I saw someone say about the angst prompts and you saying your going to use them in a writing challenge. Am I going to read them? Yes. Am I going to get my heart broken? Yes. Am I going to go and cry in a corner somewhere? Probably. Yes.

Please don’t feel like you have to justify yourself to anyone on here, or explain yourself. Because of you a lot of people on your blog feel like they can be open and honest, when you was having one of your sex talks someone said that they was 23 or 24 and still a virgin and your reply back was so wholesome, no judgement. My friends literally forced me to have sex when I was 19 because I was still a virgin. They told me I was “too old to still be a virgin”. Not only this but your writing is so good, your one shots and series are truly the best. The Professor is probably my fave (sorry) and really can’t wait for vol 2.

one, you are not ugly. Do not think that about yourself. Every body is beautiful in its own way. And do not let anyone tell you otherwise. There is no such thing as a "perfect" body, it just simply does not exist. Every body is created in its own unique way. And to me, being beautiful is not just about physical body, but about the spiritual body. Like you said, there are pretty girls/people out there who have mean souls. Beauty is on the inside as much as it on the outside.

two, I get that tone is hard to convey across text. I try my hardest to keep things as light and straightforward as I can. I try to leave out as much sarcasm as I can cause I know that it can be skewed into a negative light.

Three, I am so, so sorry for your losses. I am glad that you can find some solace in my blog, that truly makes me happy. It makes me feel like I am doing something good with this.

One of the most important things for me is having an open door and a positive relationship with my followers/friends/mutuals/ whomever. I have been in some very toxic fandoms where they were very cliquey and it's either you're in or you're not. And I hate that so much cause that's not how a fandom should be.

I want to help people have a good time here in this fandom, whether you're passing through or you're here to stay. As I said before, I'm like that cool aunt that lets you drink at her house and will tell you all her crazy stories.

I was gonna try to clear out a few asks today and maybe respond to some reblogs, but then I saw this post on my dash and started getting emotional because it really helped put something I've been thinking about for a while into words, even though I am neither this post's subject nor its target audience, so instead I decided to just shitpost a bit and then get my feelings out. I didn't feel comfortable reblogging the post even though I think a good bit of it is also applicable to me because I didn't want to turn this into an example of a straight white man making everything about him somehow and taking focus away from marginalized groups, but I did want to express my thoughts and feelings because they exist and matter to me.

I'm a bit less put together than I usually am when I post, so forgive me if I start to ramble or use terminology incorrectly or misinterpret aspects of LGBTQ or BDSM culture.

Ironically, despite my most recent Arknights shitpost, I'm... actually absolutely freaking terrified to express any serious desire to be sexually dominant - and I do have those desires (don't get me wrong, a strong, confident woman taking control is really hot, all you have to do is read my various shitposts to know I'm happy to sub, but the fact that I even feel like I have to qualify my desire to be dominant with "I also enjoy subbing" is the perfect illustration of my point). Men being submissive is treated as funny, like the setup to a joke about subverting typical sexual/gender roles. Men being dominant, despite what tumblr "punish me, daddy" thirstposting may lead you to believe, is often treated as threatening. Predatory.

This is especially true in the case of men who are attracted to women, at least from what I've seen. I'm very scared to approach women I'm interested in, because women in turn are scared of strange men. It's a justifiable attitude. There are more than enough shitty men out there that it makes sense for women to adopt that coldness, that wariness, as a defense mechanism. Given how much of the tumblr userbase, especially the userbase that participates in the same fandoms I do and thus might realistically be considered my audience, is female, I imagine that many of the people reading this post have had negative interactions with men who don't respect their boundaries or even treat them as human beings, and I am by no means trying to downplay that very real and reasonable fear. I'm just trying to explain how these circumstances and attitudes have shaped my own interactions with women.

The result of this need to watch out for danger is that unless you are a stunningly attractive man, women are on guard when they talk to you. I'm not a stunningly attractive man. Oh, I'm decent-looking, don't get me wrong (admittedly, my status as a proud short king is apparently a dealbreaker for many women, but there's not much I can do about that) - I'm in good shape, I bathe regularly and take adequate care of my skin and hair/facial hair, I wear clothes that fit me and aren't horribly unfashionable, I've been told I have pretty eyes and a nice voice, etc. - but I'm not the kind of heartthrob that can walk into a room and command the attention of every woman in it. I'm not a complete mess socially, but I'm not overly charismatic either, and I'm shy and awkward around people I don't know. As a result, when I approach a woman, she ain't thinking "wow, he's talking to me <3", she's thinking "who's this freaking weirdo, I hope he goes away before I have to pepper spray him".

Because of all this, I try to be nonthreatening. I try to be harmless, and that means repressing anything that might frighten the people around me, whether that be anger, personal conviction, or the desire to (consensually) pin a girl down and rail her. I'm terrified of scaring away potential partners just by having normal human desires and emotions, and it takes a mental toll.

I grew up (and still live) in Texas, which is not exactly a wellspring of progressive attitudes towards anything, much less women and relationships and sex and sexuality. I've been taught since I was very young that men, like me, should protect and alternately defer to or "care for" women (in a very patronizing and controlling sense), and in return, our reward was sex. While my immediate family was never this backwards, I can't say the same about the world around me at large, and the media I consumed (and still consume, because we've made progress but by no means conquered the issue) absolutely bombarded me with the idea that sex was not a thing women enjoyed. Sex was an activity they engaged in reluctantly, if at all, something they gave to men in exchange for whatever nebulously-defined benefits those men brought to the table, which were usually few, enumerated in derisive fashion, and far outweighed by the inherent flaws men possess for the crime of existing. I was taught that sex was a thing men enjoyed and women endured. I was taught that sex was transactional at best, a thing to be earned for good behavior because a woman would never want it for its own sake outside of procreation, and outright undesirable for half the participants at worst, forced upon women by brutish, animalistic men who could never be anything better than lust-ridden beasts.

This is without even mentioning the incredibly heavy, pervasive cultural influence of Christianity in America, and Texas in particular. I'm sure we're all well aware of how Christianity treats sex and sexuality and sexual expression, so I'm not going to go too deep into that, but rest assured the framing of sexual desire as inherently evil and sinful did plenty of damage to my psyche.

No matter how much I know that those views aren't true, that they're doing everyone a disservice, no matter how hard I fight against attitudes that have been ingrained in me since before I even knew what sex was by every bit of stupid bullshit "I hate my spouse" boomer humor I've ever encountered, they still impact my own ability to express my own wants and needs. They still make me feel like I am wrong or bad or evil for wanting to have sex with women, and especially for wanting to be an active participant or engage in sex acts where the focus is my pleasure, like having a girl go down on me.

I think that's one of the reasons I find pleasure in submission: if I'm not the one in control, I can't hurt anyone. I can't be a threat. I can't force anyone to do anything if I'm the one taking orders. If my partner is in control, if she's the one calling the shots in the bedroom, then I'm as sure as I can be that she actually wants to be here, that this isn't just a chore she wants to get over with as quickly as possible to keep me satisfied so she can go do something that actually matters to her.

There are a lot of men like me. I know a lot of them personally. While I hesitate to call myself a good person, I can say with confidence that I would never willingly hurt my partner, that I would never knowingly force her into something she didn't want to do or violate her boundaries, and there are plenty of good, considerate men who would be horrified at the thought of doing something to a girl that that girl didn't want. So we live with the fear that we're monsters, that we're rapists waiting to happen, that even showing interest in a woman means we're unsafe and have done something wrong. We end up starved of physical and emotional intimacy, and it's a very sad and lonely experience.

I think I saw a post a while back, probably before I even started this blog, about a trans man talking about how very different socialization and social intimacy was as a man, and that post also did a great job of putting how I felt into words, but I can't find it right now. Regardless, it made the point that we're lonely. Isolated. We're not encouraged to be vulnerable. Writing this post has been very difficult for me because I was taught to never show weakness, that vulnerability made me a target, made me less, rather than a person in need of and deserving of support. We're not encouraged to develop emotional intimacy with other men outside of very specific situations (competition against opposing forces). Women look at us as threats (because to do otherwise without very good reason to trust runs the risk of actively putting them in danger). We are... so very alone.
