salt & chili chips! at home
ingredients!
oil
half a teaspoon of salt
half a teaspoon of black pepper
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
half a teaspoon of Chinese five spice
a teaspoon of chili flakes
a pinch of brown sugar I think it helps crisp them up a bit with the oil
I use whatever veg I have but onion and carrots are nice! I like the crunch and I usually shred the carrot on a cheese grater if im feeling lazy
2 chillies but sometimes when the shop doesnt have them I use bell peppers and extra chili
I used like a full bag of freezer chips and it fed 6 people
instructions
put the chips in and cook as it says
mix up all the dry spices
put an oiled frying pan/wok on medium heat and add the garlic, after like 30 secs (or until it like smells but I feel like it never smells)
than add the veggies and cooked chips
sprinkle in the spices until it looks good!

AFGHAN ASHAK OR AUSHAK AFGHAN DUMPLINGS

INGREDIENTS:
2 Cups Lentils (rinsed) (yellow recommended)
2 –3 Large Leeks
For Lentil Sauce Base
1 Large Onion
2 Cloves Garlic
2 Tablespoons Tomato Paste
1 1/2 Teaspoons of Salt
1/2 Teaspoon turmeric
1 Teaspoon cumin
1 Teaspoon chili powder
1 Teaspoon ground coriander
3–4 fresh tomatoes
2 Cups of water
Spices for Leek Stuffing
1 Teaspoon ground cumin
1 Teaspoon of ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
a few cracks of black pepper
Chili flakes
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Rinse your lentils.
2. Chop your leeks finely or use a food processor that can slice them thin. Either before or after, wash them and drain them thoroughly. Leeks retain a lot of dirt and sand.
3. This will give you many more leeks than you need. I always take a bag and freeze the rest of them. You can save them for ashak in the future, or use them to make my bolani recipe.
4. Boil lentils on medium and simmer for about 10 minutes covered.
5. Begin on your sauce base for lentils. Chop onion and place in oil.
6. Add 1 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon cumin, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon ground coriander, and 2 tablespoons of tomato paste. You do not want a raw tomato paste taste. Then add 2 cloves of garlic. Add your fresh tomatoes. Cook on medium until lentils done.
7. After tomatoes get soft and lentil base gets cooked, add about 2 Cups of water. You will use the water to loosen up the sauce. Let the water incorporate into the sauce mixture.
8. Take cut leeks and add all of the spices to them and mix thoroughly.
9. Now take your wontons and assemble your dumplings. The easiest format is to take them and make a “half-moon” and wet the edges after you fill then, fold over, and pinch edges with a fork.
10. Boil dumplings for 3-4 minutes.
11. Plate your dish with my yogurt sauce base. Cover the yogurt with your dumplings and then cover the dumplings with the lentil mixture. Cover with some green for appearance.

I got a little carried away this week 😅

Bean Tostadas
Two cans vegetarian refried beans with half a diced onion and a small can of green chilies.
Potato Soft Tacos
With Mexican rice and street corn salad. The store only had fire roasted frozen corn in the right amount, and it was actually amazing. We also added a whole jalapeño to it.
We topped both of these meals with some shredded Romain lettuce, red onion, cilantro, cheese, and a homemade pico!
Eggplant and Bean Vegan Sausage Rolls
Made a honey mustard dipping sauce for these by combining 1/4 cup mayo, 1/4cup Dijon mustard, 2tbs honey, and 1tsp lemon juice. We also had a side of vegan broccoli salad that I topped with some candied walnuts. My partner also added some bacon bits that we had in the fridge to his. We each chose our own third side, I had some bell peppers and he has a large jar of random pickled things that he used.
We ate this meal cold, and it was delicious 🤤
End of week edit:
I think there needed to be some sort of separation between the sausage rolls and broccoli salad. The rolls got a bit wet by the end of the week and wasn’t as good.

Okay but one reason I will always say Zombies did the main couple better then Descendants: I actually feel sad seeing Zed and Addison get split up briefly and for what they think could be for a long time because of how the films actually developed the two and showed the two having a healthy relationship where they handle any disagreements or acknowledge if they hurt the other versus Descendants where by the third film if Mal and Ben were to be split up somehow, I'd be cheering because beyond the first film, the two were not a healthy couple, with Mal getting away with being toxic as hell at times towards Ben whose put in the blame somehow by Mal and others for it, with it becoming clear both, mainly Mal though, need therpay before they married, let alone consider bringing a baby into this mess.
