GUID Database Revival

I've finished setting up a way to revive the GUID database, albeit not an automatic one, it is low-key, but rather simple. Instructions are on the pinned post. [It's a Dreamwidth community, basically one webpage where people can dump their GUID info, straight from Excel or a list].

It is searchable with multi search add-ons for browser. Search for multiple entries in one go.

Avoid conflicts with originally registered GUIDs (Not foolproof; assuming GUIDs where assigned in a certain way).

Avoid conflicts with new random GUIDs (that are in the DB).

Creators are indexed - see if your favorite active creators are on there.

Shout out to autistic Barclay. Yeah yeah I love Data as much as the next guy but come on. The only reason we aren't calling him autistic more often in fandom I've seen is just 'cause he isn't the kind of autistic people can easily infantilize. btw something i figured out: spore doesnt actually randomly crash that much, it crashes specifically when you die in the creature stage in the middle of a migration. my guess would be this is because once the migration starts, it deletes your old nest as your respawn point, but cant set one at the new nest because theres a cutscene thats supposed to play when you arrive at it, so when it tries to respawn you the game gets confused and dies. the migration paths also happen to be lined with a lot of dangerous species, so youre more likely to die during that than the rest of the creature phase, making it almost certain that someone unaware of this will run into this glitch at least once if not many many times. and depending on when you last saved, it could be anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours until you get back to the point where it can happen again, meaning that by then the circumstances leading up to the previous crash could be but a twinkle in your mind's eye and the pattern isnt likely to stand out unless youre playing it over and over and over and over again within a very short timespan.

tldr just save your game whenever a migration starts and youll be fine

jokes aside its always bothered me that the personification of jiminy’s journal was just a lazily reused model of re:chain cloaked riku as a cheap way to not only save money but to get people attached to what is essentially just a book. like be honest data-riku fans you would not have cared about him if he didn’t look like riku. which is why i know data-riku fans will hate my for fun design.
