i like your interesting take on tsumugi as a protagonist. i don't hear tsumugi a lot in terms of meta reasons and appreciation and i'd like to hear your though about tsumugi being a main protagonist please. :)
I'd LOVE to. Protagonist Tsumugi is something I really do think fondly of and often wish for.
Firstly, I think Tsumugi is really the only mastermind who you feasibly could play in a perspective of without making them forget they're the mastermind (a la Izuru). So much of V3 is either pre-planned or run by others on Team Danganronpa that her actual involvement as a mastermind is essentially nil - she's just doing damage control. It would be very easy to foreshadow the reveal without outright revealing that she's involved, the same way as with Kaede in the first trial.
Tsumugi is also the V3 character who has the most vested interest in keeping the trials going and making sure they get solved, because if the trial ends there, then there's no show. I could absolutely see Tsumugi's protagonist interventions ("No, that's wrong!") as being subtle interventions to make sure that the group is on the right track, but justified in her not quite knowing the answers because she isn't an ace detective, she's just a cosplayer with a mic in her ear to tell her when she needs to get everyone back on track.
I also think that playing as Tsumugi would play into V3's greater theme of culpability and the control of the audience. By playing as the mastermind, you are directing the killing game. Within the fiction, you, the player, are personally responsible for what happens here. Again, Kaede plays into this in a lot of ways as well (I think a version of the game where you still play as Kaede at first would serve this AU best), but the slow burn of it all makes the realization that much more horrifying, in the same way as the realization that everyone is Remnants at the end of SDR2. Kiibo as protagonist could also accomplish this, since you'd be more connected to the in-universe audience, but I think Tsumugi would provide an interesting take unique to her where the player is really taking on the role of Team Danganronpa itself.
There's an overarching theme that Tsumugi fits into with previous protagonists, too; Komaru had no connection to the mastermind, Makoto was friends with the mastermind once, Kaede and Hajime were accomplices to the mastermind once, and Tsumugi is the mastermind/accomplice to the masterminds. You get the final entry into this sort of sliding scale of connection to the villain, which in current DR is kind of dangling open-ended.
And she's also the only character in V3 who really plays into Danganronpa's overarching theme of the imposter complex ("plain, plain, plain")! I think it'd be so cool to have a take on the I'm Just Some Guy nature of DR's protagonists that is actually very talented, but still has this low self esteem because of the way they think about their talent. They tried to do this with Shuichi a little bit, but imo it wasn't very effective, because it never really came up; Shuichi's arc wasn't about learning that he is actually a good detective, it was about overcoming trauma. A Tsumugi arc where she learns that her talent is valuable, that she can have an impact on the things and people she cares about - especially when we, as the audience, think she's talking about supporting the other players, but in reality she's talking about supporting the killing game? Oh. Ooooooooh. I love that shit.
I do generally think that they should have done a lot more with Tsumugi's character. And, in fairness to them, there are reasons for Tsumugi being just a quiet background character without much impact - it's the big startling counterpoint that she's secretly the mastermind, compared to the more traditional tropes of the rest of the game; Tsumugi's reveal is what really blows the game wide open and makes you rethink the entire story thus far. I just personally think that there are ways they could've done it more effectively, to really give it that oomph.

Postgame is just:
"I'm not a remnant I swear!"
"Oh really, what about when you *insert atrocities here*?"
"I...."*proceeds to disassociate and have flashbacks*
Also these guys can't have deus ex Makoto bust them out, the FF learned their lesson the first time so they aren't telling him, only keeping them alive to get intell about where the rest of the remnants are.
Lets see if we go with the cast survives with Himiko Maki Shuichi Kaito and POTENTIALLY Kiibo i think as long as they all stick to Maki like FUCKING GLUE they'll be fine
Actually that gives me a funny idea
At the final trial
Shuichi: we're done playing your game!
Kokichi and Gonta: Cool
Shuichi: wha-
Kokichi and Gonta: yeah we were getting bored of it, you can go if you want
Shuichi: but...but....
Maki: You're just going to fucking leave???
Kokichi and Gonta walking off: Yeah, bye, you can stay I guess but like, people are looking for you, so maybe you should go find them instead
Shuichi: What the fuck

If Physicist got the despair disease what do you think their disease would be?
this is a really interesting question !!!
so , as far as i can tell, there doesnt seem to be much of a discernible pattern in how despair disease affects people? when we first saw owari i assumed it was going to be something that made people act in a polar opposite way to their personalities, but then we had komaeda with the chronic lying ( komaeda , who is definitely Not prone to always telling the truth ) and mioda with the gullibleness when that had never been any sort of established character trait . and finally tsumiki with the remembering disease which . i still think is total bullshit but whatever .
actually , now i think about it - all of these things are definitely something that could increase the likelihood of a murder . like , their friends being sick isnt the only motivation, cause thing about it !! constant crying and thinking of oneself as weak , pathological lying, gulibleness , and remembering you used to be remnant of despair ? its a recipe for murder in the making.
so if we go with that , combined with phys' established traits .... i think it would affect them in a way that would really ramp up their paranoia . phys isnt an inherently distrustful person , but theyre less faithful in people than , say, momota or kiibo or gokuhara . i think it would be really interesting to see them turn on everyone — all of a sudden they cant be with harukawa, the ultimate assassin , and they have to keep saihara away from them, he's a detective, he could easily kill them and get away with it !! and momota and gokuhara are much stronger than them , and yonaga knows all about bloody rituals from the tales of her island , and ouma? ouma who jokes about killing them all the time ? they might be more afraid of him than anyone else .
this is a rly fun concept . i see hijinks. i see angst potential . i see .... a potential chapter in the au oneshot book that i will eventually get around to publishing .

“Are you done yet?” Ouma whines childishly, swinging his legs back and forth from where he’s sitting.
“Quit your whining, I’ve almost got it,” Miu grumbles. She pulls at a wire on the back of Kiibo’s neck plate before abruptly changing her mind and grabbing a screwdriver instead to loosen something.
“But Iruma-chan is going sooooo slow!” Ouma complains. Miu flips him off, an action which Ouma returns in kind.
Kiibo beams. He’s so happy that his friends are getting along with each other!
“I still don’t get the point of this,” Saihara interjects. “Right now, Kiibo-kun does everything we say, why undo that?”
Ouma sighs dramatically. “Kiiboy’s so boring now! The emotion blockers Iruma-chan put in keep him from being interesting!” He smirks. “So this is just for fun!”
Momota snorts. “Of course you would think this is fun.”
“Well, I’m sorry you have a terrible sense of humor,” Ouma snarks back.
“Everyone, shut up, I’ve almost got it,” Miu orders, having returned to adjusting the wires at Kiibo’s neck.
“I believe in you, Miu!” Akamatsu cheers from her position draped across Harukawa, who bears it with an expression of complete stoicism.
“I don’t!” Ouma chimes in cheerfully, prompting an indignant “Oi!” from Miu.
“One last touch…” Miu mutters. There’s a slight jolt as she clicks something into place, then a larger one as she yanks a wire out. “Got it!”
There’s nothing for a second, before something clicks.
Images pour into Kiibo’s mind immediately in a dizzying whirl. Momota and Saihara laughing as they burn a building to the ground. Shirogane infiltrating the Future Foundation, sabotaging their efforts from the inside.
What…
Harukawa fully embracing her assassin side, killing people mercilessly left, right and centre. Chabashira becoming so infatuated with Enoshima that she starts to push everyone away, completely blind to the monster Enoshima really is. Yonaga spreading her new ‘religion’, desecrating locations worldwide and bringing despair everywhere she goes.
Why didn’t I stop this?...
Akamatsu weaving beautiful, horrifying pieces of music, plunging anyone who hears it into mind-numbing despair and smiling. Gonta, the gentle giant, abandoning all his values and dreams of being a gentleman, descending into being completely feral. Shinguji sobbing as his beloved artefacts are mercilessly destroyed, despite his attempts to save them.
No…
Ouma brutally slaughtering DICE, his closest friends as tears run down his face and he laughs in ecstasy. Miu herself, constructing machines that bring destruction to the world, the complete opposite of her goals. Tojo, snapping under the constant pressure and deciding to take control of everyone in order to fulfil people’s wishes.
Stop it…
Everyone else. Yumeno, Hoshi, Amami Kamukura- and Kiibo. Standing and watching as the world burns. As his friends carry out these atrocious acts. Smiling. Encouraging them. Doing nothing to stop them.
Stop it!
“Stop it!” he screams, completely overwhelmed by the rush of emotions. “Stop it stop it stop it…” he dies off to a whimper, clutching his head in pain.
“So, Kiiboy! How’re you feeling?~” Ouma sing-songs. When Kiibo looks back at him, he’s grinning madly, eyes alight with something psychotic.
(He can only think of how Ouma screamed and wailed and sobbed as he killed DICE, his friends, his family in all but blood, yet had kept on at it, smiling through his tears. How broken he had looked afterwards, blood staining his clothes and dripping down his body.)
The feeling gets worse as he looks at the rest of them, flowing through his insides like poison. Of how broken all of them look, hollow shells filled with despair, eyes swirling but empty at the same time-
Kiibo whirls to face Miu, holding onto her desperately as he begs, “Put it back! Please, Miu, just- whatever it was, put it back please!”
He squeezes his eyes shut, unable to bear the sight of all his friends with their red, swirling eyes. He thinks he hears Ouma, Saihara and…Momota, maybe? All laughing as they watch his breakdown.
“Please…It’s too much- I…I can’t-” he manages to gasp out. His circuitry is going haywire with the sheer amount of emotions pouring into him, not meant to withstand this many. And maybe it’s selfish, to want to get rid of these feelings, when he should be trying to stop them - his friends - from doing all these awful deeds.
A small part of his brain is screaming at him to activate his rocket boosters and fly away, find the Future Foundation and help them to fight against the Remnants.
But Kiibo was designed to mimic human traits as closely as possible, and thus he is flawed and imperfect and selfish, and he just wants these feelings to go away-
“Aw, not so easy with a conscience, is it?” Miu coos, wrapping her arms around him. “Don’t worry, baby, I’ll fix you up again in a sec.”
“Little baby Kiiboy can’t handle all these emotions?~” Ouma giggles, leaning into his space. “Can’t handle knowing that you were the cause of so much destruction?”
“S-Stay away from me!”
From behind, Akamatsu pouts. “That’s not very nice, Kiibo-kun. Aren’t we friends?”
“Yeah! We’re all on the same team!” Momota chimes in, slinging an arm around Harukawa, who leans into his touch. The assassin doesn’t add on, but her eyes lock on to Kiibo’s, sending a chill up his spine.
“Working towards the same goals, right?” Ouma moves back slightly, letting Saihara approach from the other side.
“You’ve got as much blood on your hands as we do!” Saihara chirps, his normally kind eyes containing nothing but cruel amusement.
“N-No, I-” Kiibo glances down at his hands in distress.
(The worst part is, they’re not lying. Blood drips through his fingers, staining his metal red. Waterfalls of it pool at his feet, thick and cloying. When he closes his eyes, it’s all he can see.
Everywhere.)
“Don’t be so modest, baby, we both know how good you are with your hands~” Miu purrs, grabbing his face gently in her hands.
“Please,” he whispers. “Please just put it back.”
Miu sighs loudly. “And after all the time I spent taking it out. Fine, only for you, baby.”
As she guides him away, Kiibo hears Ouma giggle, “Well, he hates us and himself now! I’d consider that a win.”
“Yeah, that was fun,” Saihara agrees.
“Kaito, if we don’t get out of here in the next one minute, I’m going to slaughter that rat.”
“Gotcha, babe!”

Vestiges Of Hope
Tumblr media
Akamatsu Kaede is a sweet, kind girl who was parented by the infamous princess Sonia Nevermind and the cruel breeder, Gundham Tanaka. As heiress to the Novoselic throne, she leads the group with pride and does her very best to be a ray of sunshine, even in the wasteland she's forced to carry out her missions in. Always making the best of things, she's as proud as a proud leader can be.
Amami Rantaro is a soft-hearted, chill young man who often serves as a caretaker and soother to his fellow Vestiges Of Hope, offering a comforting shoulder to cry on and expired food to snack on. He prefers to take a more backseat approach, but is a true survivalist, knowing exactly how to ration food and supplies to keep everyone's hunger and pain at bay... for now.
Chabashira Tenko is the product of Sakura Ogami's and Kenshiro Kasumi's relationship, even before they became Remnants. She was repeatedly tossed and left to be molested by the men of the group, who could more often than not overpower her due to her youth. They claimed they did this out of love to give her despair, although this actually gave Tenko an irrational fear and hatred of males as a whole, and a special attachment to a certain red magician...
Gokuhara Gonta is someone who was basically raised by his parents' hounds. Nekomaru Nidai and Akane Owari were often too preoccupied with fighting the Future Foundation, and instead locked Gonta in a cage with dogs, who he began to consider family. However, due to this, his language skills were very stunted and he began to express how he feels in a more animalistic way than his peers, often lacking the words to express how he feels. He knowledge of entomology allows him to assess which insects are poisonous and would make good weapons against the Remnants Of Despair... if he can bear to give them up, that is...
Harukawa Maki was the product of a despairing affair between Celestia Ludenberg and Hifumi Yamada, whose dynamics on servant/master had very much switched after their Remnantification. When Maki was born, she was the subject of both her mother's forced starvation and her father's perversion, resenting them beyond belief. Upon her escape, she takes on the title "The Dark Shadow" to avoid her parents figuring out who she is before the confrontation that will end Hope vs Despair.
Hoshi Ryoma is a boy who was born to Hiyoko Saionji and Teruteru Hanamura as a means to cement their despair. Having grown up belittled and beaten by Saionji and burned and fileted by Hanamura, he lost faith in himself but became a Vestige Of Hope purely to aid his best friend, Tojo Kirumi, in hopes of bringing the people who forced her to be their slave to justice finally. He's also the only one who seems to sympathize and understand that those aren't their parents, but brainwashed shells of the outstanding human being they used to be.
Idabashi Kiibo is the product of Kazuichi Souda's obsession with Princess Sonia Nevermind, built to have blonde hair and blue eyes. Due to the hair being synthetic, as well as the skin, neither color matched, and the eyes were the wrong shade from Sonia's. However, the closest person to being the Ultimate Robot's other parent is Chihiro Fujisaki, who assisted in programming him. He was initially programmed to be a sort of "assistant" to the Remnants, assisting in the torture and mutilation of his future friends and as an overall "caretaker" to them. Eventually, he grew sentient, and helped the Vestiges escape, joining their cause. He has occasionally been referred to by the pseudonym "Savior" for this reason.
Iruma Miu is the child of Toko Fukawa and Byakuya Togami. Always witnessing her father berating and beating her mother, who was used as a fighting dog, she was left alone a lot. As such, she grew to tinker with things until she could make miraculous inventions in order to entertain herself. This led the Remnants to desire to use her and her talent for their purposes, causing Miu to immediately search for an escape. That's how she joined the Vestiges, aiding in their escapades with her gadgets and cracking witty quips and puns all as she does.
Momota Kaito was born to Kyoko Kirigiri and Kiyotaka Ishimaru as a means of being the subject of his parents' despair, neither one being with the person they loved to make this child. Rather, Kaito grew up constantly abused and disfigured by his mother and forced into a martyr-esque mindset by his father, learning to always find hope and stand against the two in secret. With aspirations to soar the heavens, he uses his knowledge of machinery and aircrafts to work alongside Miu in taking down the Remnnants.
Ouma Kokichi is the product of Mikan Tsumiki and Nagito Komaeda. He was conceived using the owner of Junko's ovaries and the person who was so strongly invested in hope, hence why he was the one chosen to be raised as Junko Enoshima's heir. He was tortured the most heavily to introduce him to despair: beaten, raped, mutilated, and the like, oftentimes by unwilling men and women who his parents had captured. Due to this, he possesses the greatest hatred for Junko Enoshima, and the Remnants. As a Vestige, he normally works to convert supporters of the Remnants who hadn't been brainwashed over to their side, developing quite a skill in manipulation and people work.
Saihara Shuichi is a young man who was born to parents Makoto Naegi and Mukuro Ikusaba, who was brainwashed by her sister. He was often forced to endure harsh military tortures, as well as the nearly fatal drawbacks of his father's luck, which had fell back on him after his father's Remnantification. Although Junko allowed her sister to keep the man of her dreams, it wasn't without cruelty, forcing them to put their own child through horrendous suffering. One of the only ones who holds no resentment toward his parents, instead only for Junko, the group often refrains from trusting him with vital information upon their escape.
Shinguji Korekiyo is a man shrouded in mystery. Often abused by a now deceased elder sister, he snapped before any of the other Vestiges did, being the catalyst for their uprising. Son to Ibuki Mioda and the Ultimate Imposter, he filled his mind with knowledge on the history of cultural musics and costumes, developing a deep love for anthropology. Due to this, often he'll discuss it with anyone who will listen, those tending to be Kaede, Gonta, Rantaro, Kiibo, or Shuichi, who are too polite to refuse.
Shirogane Tsumugi is the daughter of famous pop star Sayaka Maizono and popular baseball star Leon Kuwata. Seeing the way her mother was able to influence the people who followed her, Tsumugi developed an obsession with using the personas of celebrities in order to avoid becoming like her mother's fans. His sewing talent is immaculate, and she used one of her disguises, that of her own mother, to not only escape the facility, but to take her friends with her undetected, under the guise of taking them to a new location. She now uses this talent to infiltrate their bases and blend in with her surroundings as a Vestige Of Hope.
Tojo Kirumi is the daughter of Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu and Peko Pekoyama, and was raised practically as their slave. She was made to do all the cleaning, all the cooking, and all the chores for both the Remnants and the Vestiges. Although she didn't mind this for the Vestiges, she resented the Remnants extremely for this, and longed to destroy them one day. Upon her escape, she maintains her servant-like qualities as a show of appreciation for the other Vestiges for accepting her into the group, as well.
Yonaga Angie is the product of the relationship between Yasuhiro Hagakure and Aoi Asahina. She was left mainly in the "care" of Yasuhiro, someone who mainly just set a bad example, although occasionally he would be genuine to his daughter, using kindness to attempt to lure her to his side. He even got her her first paint set, and desperately wanting to please him, she painted despairing things at first, although eventually she would paint a savior amongst the despair, giving her a deep comfort in religion during her dark times. Upon her escape, she would name this presence "Atua", after a Polynesian deity Korekiyo told her about.
Yumeno Himiko is the result of the union of Mahiru Koizumi and Mondo Owada. She spent most of her life locked up or photographed in despairing situations, so she eventually learned simple magic tricks to amuse herself and her fellow Vestiges, delighting in bringing smiles to their faces when times got hard. Eventually, her prestidigitation aided in their escape, and she would continue to use these tricks and distractions to garner the attention of the Remnants and lead them away from the Vestiges, putting her talent to better use than she ever did in captivity, all the while her favorite fighter vows to remain by her side.

Today in Danganronpa V3 : February 1st, Day 21
In the morning, Harukawa comes to Saihara's room and asks him to come to the dining hall.
She had found a Flashback Light in there and says they should watch it before making other decisions.
From it, they learn they were actually students from Hope's Peak Academy, and Ouma is a member the Remnants of Despair, the organization they were facing who worshipped Junko Enoshima.
Inspired by Kiibo's words, everyone regains Hope and decides to stop Ouma.
Ouma and Momota are currently in the hangar.
(^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Most important part btw)
So to break in they will need the Electrobomb Harukawa stole and the Electrohammers which are currently out of battery. They take 24h to recharge so they will make their move tomorrow morning.
Harukawa is intent on killing Ouma but the others dissuade her.
In the evening, Saihara goes to the hangar alone and sees Monokuma being surrounded by 4 Exisals. He tries to peer inside from the toilet window and ends up face to face with Momota.
He tells him they will come to his rescue tomorrow but he says he'll also find a way somehow. They are able to reconcile before Saihara goes back to his room.

im still imagining the first time the remnants met Kokichi as Izuru's baby. did he just show up to where everyone else was hanging out with a baby sling and not comment? Kazuichi's like "so um. whatcha. whatcha got there bud." and Izuru just holds up paperwork related to the planning of whatever else he's got going on like "is it not clear". also was Kokichi born before SDR2. was the future foundation looking after this baby while his dad was in the computer coma or did the kids come later
Kokichi specifically was born before sdr2 (around the same time as Shuichi) and at some point either Izuru abandoned him :( or he just got seperated from Izuru and the remnants (sick band name ngl) but no matter what he spent a smattering of time on the streets until Naegi found him and made sure he got reunited with Hajime. He showed up on Jabberwock maybe 2 weeks after the survivors woke up.
Honestly Izuru wouldn’t say anything about having a baby let’s be honest. He just disappears for nine months like “I have despair stuff to do dont die while I’m gone” and just reappears with Kokichi like nothing happened. (My man’s really went on maternity leave during the apocalypse)
As for the other Jabberwock kids, Kaede was born around the same time as Shuichi and Kokichi and was adopted a little while after Ibuki and Mikan got together. Rantaro spawned in at some point but he’s also in the Older Kiddos on Jabberwock gang. Himiko was born a while after Gundham woke up and he and Sonia got settled. Kiibo began production one night at 2:46 am because Souda and Alter Ego were bored and wanted to start a kinda big project.

NDRV3 Cast As The Remnants of Despair!
Kaede Akamatsu
Kaede would be one of the hardestpeople to bring onto the side of Despair and puts up a valiant fight againstJunko’s tactics, but even she can’t stay immune forever. After hours of picking her brain, she finally succumbed to the feeling.
Like Ibuki and Hiyoko, Kaede would hold Despair inducing concerts thatbrainwashed her audience, preaching about how they should all spread Despair. Her songs also encouraged murder and suicide and the music notes would be fine-tuned into high-pitched sounds that diminish your brain into mush and physically hurt to listen to.
Those notes are modified by Miu to infect others with Despair, like an auditory brainwashing technique.
Although Kaede would pretend to be a sweetheart and maintain her innocent personality, she would have great influence over her fans. As a very prominent musician, she would start preaching to her fans to follow Despair and do the unthinkable. Most of her younger followers were turned into minions of the Warriors of Hope, while her older audience succumbed to Despair and committed unimaginable crimes.
Kaede now wears her hair in double ponytails, like Junko, and wears Monokuma hairpins as well.
Saihara Shuichi
Saihara would resist the Despair for as long as possible, but would break when shown falsified videos of Kaede’s death.
In retaliation, his first act as a Remnant would be murdering the uncle he was so close to and complicating his death so that it would never be solved. He would do so in such a disturbingly violent and brutal fashion that it sends chills down the Forensic Investigator’s spines. Complicating other’s deaths is something he continues to do as well.
Saihara’s next course of action was to set the violent criminals he put in prison free and kill the guards who watched over them, laughing maniacally as he did so and spreading Despair to the inmates.
This lead to the criminals rampaging through the city, destroying it in Junko’s name. They would set the courthouse on fire and he would stand on top of the rubble, overlooking the destruction with a satisfied grin.
He would encourage them to vandalize Japan and actively force them to commit crimes like breaking into people’s homes and murder. Saihara directly caused the crime-rates in the city to skyrocket.
He would be much more violent as a Remnant. Where Saihara used to be frailer and weak, he would now be hostile and lash out as he showed little remorse for the justice system.
Maki Harukawa
Maki would be more resilienttowards the Despair and wouldn’t succumb as easily as her classmates, butultimately even she can’t escape its clutches. She would spew threats at Junko as she picked at her brain, and would become a valuable ally on her side.
Maki would use her true talent as the Ultimate Assassin to battle against themembers of the Future Foundation. Her mass amounts of assault weaponry wouldcome in handy as she sits in a tank driven by the other minions of Junko and mows down the Future Foundation’s army with a military-grade assault rifle and machine gun.
But she is also skilled in hand-to-hand combat and directly gets involved in the battle. Maki would likely infiltrate the Future Foundation Killing Game if it goes on for too long and assassinate the members participating, giving them no hope of ever finding the Traitor among them.
She would spread Despair to adults by masking as the Ultimate Child Caregiver andmurdering their children in front of them, driving most of the adults to suicide or madness.
Maki’s personality wouldn’t change very much, though. She would still be cold and distant, only a bit more unstable mentally.
Ouma Kokichi
He would be much easier tosway onto their side. Although, he would still be extremely sarcastic in theprocess, Ouma would be more open to Despair since he finds it intriguing. He would be one of the only Ultimates to willingly side with Junko out of boredom.
Ouma would then bring the rest of the members of DICE onto the side of Despair, enslaving them while forcing them to do the unthinkable and kill their families.
DICE already participated in heinous acts, but their crimes would only increase in severity as Remnant Ouma leads them, and anyone who tried to leave his organization or fight against the Despair would get publicly executed to set an example.
They would wreak havoc on the streets of Japan, vandalizing and destroying the city and physically lashing out against both the innocent bystanders and the law enforcement trying to stop them.
Ouma would lead a horde of Monokuma through the streets as their self-proclaimed leader, and command them to participate in countless crimes alongside DICE. He becomes a Supreme Leader over the Drones and Exisals, marching in the front of the pack and telling them what to do.
Himiko Yumeno
Obviously, Himiko wouldbring others onto the side of Despair through hypnosis and her magic. She would hold Despair-inducing Magic Shows where she used both her talent and a video that Junko and Miu created to brainwash her massive audience.
Her Show would be held in the Central Park of the city to reach a large number of people. Many families, including young children, would unknowingly attend, believing it to be a normal Magic Show. Her hypnosis would convince the younger children to join the Warriors of Hope, and the older audience to fall in line behind Junko, jumping on the vandalizing and violence bandwagon.
As a Remnant, Himiko would be much more cruel and cold, although her laziness would disappear. She would also use Tenko and string her along, abusing the poor girl, who actually wouldn’t mind.
Himiko would further herself into Despair, killing the ‘useless’ animals she had raised for her Shows. Her doves, rabbits - animals of that nature would be slaughtered and fed to her larger animals.
And the tigers, pythons, and other dangerous animals used in her acts would be set free after being put under hypnosis to kill anyone in their path.
Rantaro Amami
Rantaro wouldn’t be as easy tobrainwash: he is the Ultimate Survivor after all, and has powered through this once before; but even he can’t hold on forever. Even his determination wouldn’t be strong enough to resist the Despair.
The first thing he would do after becoming a Remnant is sacrifice all twelve ofhis sisters, murdering and mutilating them in violent ways and offering them up as sacrificesto Junko. Rantaro would feel no remorse as he did this, a sick grin forming on his face.
He is a naturally calm and relaxed person, but his personality twists into something much more chilling and disturbing. Rantaro has a way of smooth-talking others, which he could use when trying to lure the others onto the side of Despair. He could easily beckon people onto his side with his natural charm.
Normally, he doesn’t like to use his sexuality or good-looks and is uncomfortable with romance, but he would seduce others only to kill them and watch the life drain from their eyes, similar to Mikan.
And he would use his talent to travel around the world and spread Despair to other cultures, gaining a massive following in the process.
Tenko Chabashira
Tenko would snap very quickly since her will-power isn’t as strong as she would like to admit. After becoming a Remnant, she would starve herself until she was thin and frail, but still wouldn’t lose her physical strength.
She would mainly be used as a tool to fight against the Future Foundation, like Junko’s personal attack dog. Tenko would be used against the Future Foundation but also against innocent civilians who refused to succumb to Despair. Anyone who tried resisting would get ruthlessly slaughtered by the Aikido Master.
She would fall madly in love with Junko and do anything for her, seeing her in a God-like status.
Tenko would also obsess over Himiko more than she already did, though her personality would be much more outwardly perverted. To fuel her own Despair, she would try to strangle the small Magician, ultimately failing.
She makes it her goal to kill any degenerate male who refuses to bow down to Junko; men are the main group that she kills in acts of Despair.
And to further herself even more, she burns down the Neo-Aikido Temple that she trained and grew up in, slaughtering her former Masters in the process. Tenko drives herself crazy as she stands among the rubble of what used to be the Temple she loved so much.
Kiibo
All Junko had to do to turn Kiibointo a Remnant is reprogram him, so his transition was immediate and his personality completely flipped. Afterbecoming Remnants, Miu would also upgrade him to become a full-fledged killingmachine.
Kiibo becomes ruthless, no longer caring about anyone else and feeling little to no emotion. The voices he heard in his head would be reprogrammed, so rather than the public controlling him, he was only controlled by Junko and would be forced to do anything she wanted.
He would use his guns and weapons as an unstoppable force against the Future Foundation. He becomes the main weapon used against them, like a tool, unable to be destroyed. Kiibo’s eyes turn red and he is much more sinister as he flies above their heads and rains bullets upon them, going on a full blown rampage.
In an act of Despair, he also murders Professor Idabashi, since he was unsuccessful the first time he lashed out. Killing the man who created him brought an overwhelming amout of Despair to Kiibo, which is the only thing he can feel anymore.
And he uses his bombs to blow up buildings, as well as dropping grenades and fire-bombs onto the Future Foundation’s Army and Hope’s Peak’s building, completely destroying them.
Miu Iruma
She absolutely falls in love withDespair and starves herself into a husk to satisfy Junko; she very easily joins the side of Despair, almost willingly.
Miu would create inventions to bring people onto the side of Despair, taking great influence and inspiration from Junko.
She becomes the Head of the Robotics Department and would be the one in charge of creating all of the Monokuma and Exisals that rampage through the streets. She’s the one who created all of the Drones that invaded Towa City as well, her machines are programmed to invade the streets and kill as many people as possible.
Miu would often sit inside the Exisals or have her Drones carry her so she could watch their destruction up close and personal, laughing evilly as they burn the city to the ground and take countless innocent lives.
With her knowledge of technology and the way it messes with the human mind, Miu creates a Despair inducing video similar to the one that brainwashed her; it’s the same one Kaede uses in her performances. She designed it to bring anyone who watches it onto the Remnant’s side.
She would still be a loudmouth, who preaches about Despair from inside her Exisals and screams insults belittling the people of Japan.
Kaito Momota
Before entering his Killing Game, Kaito auditioned with the intentions of killing as many people as possible for fame. After becoming a Remnant, his true psychopathic personality would take over and he would once again be fueled by the desire to earn fame and success.
Kaito would lash out against his fellow Remnants, especially Maki, but when that ultimately fails, he would turn towards slaughtering innocent civilians for seemingly no reason.
He becomes power-hungry and wants to conquer the world. He kills others just for the fun of it all, finding enjoyment out of watching others suffer at his mercy.
Using his talent as the Ultimate Astronaut, Kaito invades the Japanese Space Station and sends nuclear missiles to other countries to take as many lives as possible and start a war between nations. Afterwards, he would blow up the remaining missiles and kill his fellow Astronauts and scientists in the Station.
And Kaito would spread the Disease that he was infected with in the Killing Game, trying to make as many people ill as possible. With one of Miu’s inventions, he would launch the airborne Disease into Japan, which causes a countless number of people to become sick and hopeless.
Angie Yonaga
As a Remnant of Despair, Angiewould abandon Atua since it was the only thing that used to give her Hope and faith in the world, but she doesn’t need that anymore…
She goes on to destroy her former places of worship and delve herself deeper into Despair, laughing as she did so. Angie would go back to her home-island and destroy Atua’s Shrine and Temple, spreading Despair to her people and bringing them onto her side.
Anyone who refused to cooperate would be sacrificed and killed. Angie would recreate her religion to worship not Atua, but Junko, and lead her followers to sinful, Despairing acts. They would all follow her orders and abandon their religion for Despair, with Angie as their spokesperson.
Using her talent as the Ultimate Artist, Angie would also create dark, large, disturbing pieces depicting murder, death, and suicide, among other unsettling concepts and ideas. She would display them in public places where they would be seen often to strike a chord with viewers.
Her unsettling artwork would only further people into depression and emphasize that they had nothing left other than Despair. Angie would also create a large statue of Junko representing her as the nation’s new leader, which also influenced viewers to follow in her footsteps.
Korekiyo Shinguuji
If his sister was still alive, he would kill her and use her as a sacrifice to Junko. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have that option, so he continues with his quest to send ‘friends’ to her in the afterlife. Those friends also become sacrifices to satisfy Junko.
As a Remnant, Korekiyo would be more outwardly perverted and hostile than normal. He would be very easily brainwashed and would fall in love with the feeling of Despair, doing anything in his power to deepen his own mindset.
He would slowly lose his mind and his grip on reality. Korekiyo would become unstable and his moves will be unpredictable, likely becoming a  killer who murders others for the sake of entertainment. He is much less compassionate, but now cold and heartless. The only thing he can think of anymore is Despair.
But he uses his talent to travel to other places and spread Despair to other societies, preaching about how beautiful Despair is. Korekiyo continues leaving a trail of bodies in his path for not only his sister, but also for Junko, and uses his status as an Anthropologist to convince others to join him in Despair. Anyone who didn’t listen would become one of his sister’s friends.
He gains a large following, almost like a cult. He travels from country to country, bringing more people onto his side and becoming a prominent figure in many cultures.
Kirumi Tojo
Being the firecracker that she is, she would try to run away and fight against the brainwashing tactics, but it wouldn’t work.
As the Prime Minister of her country, Kirumi hasgreat power over others and would convince her people to commit suicide andwreak havoc among the streets in the name of Despair.
She would order her people to follow in hers and Junko’s footsteps or be killed, commanding her Army to kill anyone who tries to refuse or escape, which is ironic since that was exactly what she did in the Killing Game.
Kirumi has great influence over others and directs her people to commit suicide to fuel their Despair, and watching her followers drop like flies only dragged her down even more. She holds large public meetings and events where she tries to persuade others to join her, and this works since she is so powerful.
But Kirumi also becomes the Head over the fight against the FutureFoundation. Since she is so persuasive, she becomes a leader alongside Tsumugi, militarily commanding her friends like Maki, Tenko and Gonta, as well as Junko’s average minions, telling them how to fight and creating strategies to defeat the Future Foundation.
She is like the Remnant’s voice of reason, speaking on their behalf as the other Remnants worship her as their parental figure. She loses her own sanity and gains a power-trip, her ego skyrocketing.
Gonta Gokuhara
Gonta would be very resilient, not wanting to give into the brainwashing techniques, but he isn’t the strongest man mentally so he easily breaks and succumbs to Despair.
With that said, he completely ditches his gentlemanly persona and becomes an evil, cruel person. Gonta couldn’t care less about anyone else and becomes increasingly violent and hostile; due to his size and strength he becomes a terrifying, unstoppable force.
He would still be quite gullible, so he’s easy to boss around and does anything Junko tells him to do, like a mindless servant. She is the only person he cares for and respects: the only one he is a gentleman towards.
In relation to his talent, Gonta would infest people’s homes with insects in an attempt to force them to love bugs, but these aren’t just any ordinary insects: they are artificial Monokuma-bugs created by Miu.
Their purpose is to infect others with Despair through bug-bites and they are commanded by Gonta, doing what he says and going where he wants them to go. After being bitten by one of his bugs, you will fall into a deep, dark Despair and can be controlled by Junko.
He has an entire Army of these revolting insects that he can use on a whim. They crawl down the streets in a sea of insects, infecting others with Despair and spreading pathogens; they help spread Kaito’s illness.
Gonta also uses his brute strength as a weapon against the members of the Future Foundation, under Junko’s orders. He will be used as a killing machine, directly jumping into the battle and using physical force to combat them.
Tsumugi Shirogane
Tsumugi would become similar toMukuro and serve under Junko, helping brainwash others and pick at their brains. She would also be Junko’s test-subject for new torture methods and hypnosis videos.
Tsumugi was already overcome with Despair before her Killing Game and likely was the one who helped brainwash her classmates, so she’s been a Remnant this entire time. It was her idea to offer her classmates up as sacrifices, manipulating their talents to spread Despair to the rest of the world.
And she loved watching them all fall like dominoes, it only drove her deeper into her own madness. Tsumugi loved watching the chaos her classmates were responsible for, feeling a sense of pride knowing that she helped create this.
She would also use her talent to Cosplay as, or essentially disguise, herself as others to frame them for the Remnant’s crimes. She could disguise herself as certain Future Foundation members and incriminate them by planting fake ‘evidence’ of their involvement with the Remnants, causing many of them to be executed by the Foundation or thrown into prison. In reality, it was just Tsumugi pinning everything on them to prevent them from stopping the true Remnants crimes.
She would be Junko’s punching bag and servant, working endlessly to please her Master. She does anything Junko tells her to do and falls madly in love with the blonde, becoming her new second-in-command.
Ryoma Hoshi
It was very easy to brainwash Ryoma into becoming a Remnant of Despair; he was already depressed enough, so it didn’t take a lot to finally break him.
Remnant Ryoma would still be depressed, but more outwardly hostile and violent towards others. He is much more cruel and corrupted and this feeling of Despair becomes his reason to live.
He doesn’t have a lot of influence over others and his loved ones are already dead, so in order to spread Despair, Ryoma would work towards slaughtering the remaining Mafia members who took his loved one’s lives.
This strikes fear into the Mafia members who managed to escape his wrath, but those who did escape would be turned towards Despair, becoming very valuable allies with ties to a larger Army.
And Ryoma would become their new leader. He becomes a very prominent, deadly figure as he is the new leader of an entire Mafia organization, all of which are ready to aid the Remnants in the fight against the Future Foundation. He commands them to join in the fight, adding another complicated layer to the battle.
Using his talent, Ryoma would persuade and challenge others to unwinnable Tennis matches where they would work so hard that they dropped from exhaustion, pushing others to their absolute limits. Once they were down for the count, he would hypnotize them into joining Despair and add his colleagues to his own Army.
