8756 and 783468289769848832:
Actually, for anyone who has the ability to read, the person responding to the first submission did not prove OP's point. Saying something shouldn't be done means you think it shouldn't exist. Saying it shouldn't exist means you want it to be censored.
And no matter what they look like, characters are not people, drawings, words, and pixels are not kids. I don't know why you're all getting upset that people want you to focus on other people and be kind to them instead of wasting everyone's time and energy on an imaginary friend that is more equivalent to a pebble with large googly eyes on it.
And calling this stuff porn...I hope you know child porn is not a thing. It doesn't apply to fictional content, and when we're talking about legitimate kids it goes by CSEAM because kids can't consent. But again, the topic of consent doesn't apply to characters, only people. And pedophilia also only applies to real life, flesh and blood kids. Please don't misuse words and concepts and oversimplify them just to allow yourself to be a bully because it makes it so easy for abusers to hide. That's why the antiship group has so many people turn out to be predators. Countless organizations and people who catch child molesters have stated multiple times that fictional content doesn't count as any of this.
This is just a reworded violence in video games causes violence irl. It wasn't true then, it's not true now. Shows like South Park where the "child" main characters are often in sexual situations, such as when one of the main four gave another of the main four a blowjob, did not cause a pandemic of child molesters and kids getting hurt, because it doesn't work like that. Countless experts who deal in these things have said that multiple times.
Also, why do antis love to boil censorship down to "the other group wants this stuff to exist so they can sexualize kids!" You know anything can be used to groom others. And censorship...isn't about that at all. But since you claim there's no difference between a character and a kid, and you call these things porn... Why are you guys constantly thinking about kids in sexual situations? Why is it always on the front of your mind? Why do you make everything about that even in times its got nothing to do with the conversation? Antis are oddly fixated and obsessed with kids and porn... You can see how weird that is right?
If you're still not listening to people who know what they're talking about, you're not a good person. But well, that's easy to tell with your guys' submissions. Because it's really obvious you two hate being called out for being self-centered and rude, and it's clear from your asks that you only hate being told you're wrong and not being allowed to attack others. This is harsh but you two aren't the sharpest tools in the shed and all you're accomplishing is shortening your lifespan, for the sake of your health before you two develop irreparable health problems from your attitudes and constantly stressing yourselves out, you should really get out of the echo chambers you've locked yourself in.
I hope someday you two learn how to care about other people and learn how to listen to people smarter than you instead of mocking out of jealousy.
(And I know these kids aren't going to read this because it's long and they're afraid of reading, and instead they're going to make up stuff about me and make up what I said so they can get angry because living in a fantasy is better than facing the realization you're a horrible person, but I hope if enough people keep telling them the truth they'll develop self-awareness and turn their life around. Because I've been in similar places and I hate how much time I wasted and how many friendships I've lost because I acted similarly to these people. This misbehavior will never be worth it.)

Let's all cheer for vaginal atrophy and premature balding and heart attacks at 50! Can't wait to get vaginal atrophy and premature balding and heart attacks at 50!
Because the alternative is suicide now! And weirdly I like to be happy! One year alive as a trans guy is happiness. One year in the closet is... not likely.
Anon have you ever heard of happiness? Have you ever experienced it? Because it doesn't seem you ever did!
[also Nicholas, I'm really fucking sorry that person brought up your health issues like that.]
Don't be sorry! Going to a trans-friendly doctor meant I finally felt safe and listened-to, and he diagnosed my heart issue before it could turn into arrhythmia. I take one wee pill of propranolol a day and try to get in my 10k+ steps. And that's it for the oh-so-scary part of having increased heart risk factors due to HRT making me more physiologically male in that regard.
Trans healthcare has saved my life in so many ways -- I probably get more preventative healthcare than the average cis person, what with all the regular bloodwork and checkups. 💪

Stormy Nights
Wind and Bunny both hate storms. Tonight, Wind’s overprotective older brother instincts (mostly) win out.

✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ .
Once he had shucked his sopping wet day clothes, strung them out to dry, and thrown on his comfortable pyjamas, Wind settled by the fire, inching a little closer when lightning lit up the room. Maybe, if he pushed himself close enough, the crackle and warmth and light of the fire would banish the storm from where it crawled over his shoulders and pierced his memories.
Another boom. Wind flinched, squeezing his eyes shut against the painful memories pressing up against the backs of his eyelids. Tried to focus on the warmth and the crackle of the fire washing over him and not the hard wooden floorboards of the ship swaying beneath him and—
A small sound. Wind looked up, curious. At some point, Twilight had dropped Bunny off beside him to dry and settle. Alone, Bunny shook like a leaf in a gale. He had curled up into a tight, likely painful ball, his face pressed down into his front paws and his eyes squeezed shut, just as Wind’s had been seconds ago. Another soft sound—a cry from Bunny, weak and whimpering.
Wind gasped, understanding washing over him.
“Hey,” Wind said, just loud enough to be heard over the storm. “Everything alright, Bunny?”
Bunny’s head whipped up. He stared at Wind with wide violet eyes, glistening with unshed tears, and Wind’s heart twisted. He had never seen an animal cry before.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay.” He shifted closer, but didn’t yet touch Bunny. He had seen the bandages on Warriors’ hand, had seen the nasty wound left behind by Bunny’s teeth. “Are you scared of the storm, little guy?”
Another boom of thunder that Wind barely noticed under his heavy concern for the rabbit. Bunny, however, let out a cry, scurrying closer to Wind and burying his face in Wind’s leg, hiding away.
“Aw, that’s okay,” Wind murmured. “There’s nothing to be ashamed of. Do you mind if I…” Carefully, he set a hand over Bunny’s shaking back. When Bunny leaned into his touch, he swept the rabbit up into his arms, cradling him close and pressing Bunny’s little face into his shoulder. “There you go. I’ve got you. I’ll keep you safe.” Under his comfort, Bunny’s shakes began to settle quickly, and Wind understood Hyrule and Twilight’s infatuation with their newest member—Bunny was so soft and perfect to cuddle, and if his older brother protectiveness was running this high after mere minutes of interacting with the rabbit, then he could only imagine how whipped the other two were. And as Bunny heaved a sigh and relaxed completely into him, Wind knew he could die for this sweet little rabbit.
Lost in soothing Bunny as he was, Wind wasn’t prepared for another booming crack of thunder. He jumped with a soft eep!, head whipping around, wide eyes fixated on the outside world. With no doors in the stable, he could see the pounding rain, the world lit up by strikes of lightning. Fear turned in his chest. His breaths quickened.
Bunny let out a whine.
Immediately, Wind loosened his hold on the poor rabbit. “Sorry, sorry. Guess the storm startled me. Are you alright? That was a big one.”
Bunny was watching him thoughtfully, calm as ever under Wind’s comfort. He had been told Bunny was a little more intelligent that most beasts, but Wind hadn’t expected for the rabbit to be staring at him with genuine concern in his eyes.
That wasn’t any normal animal. Not even Wolfie seemed to understand to this degree, though Wind had his suspicions about the wolf.
“I’m glad you’re okay,” Wind said, rather than the millions of questions in the back of his mind. “I’ll keep you safe tonight, okay? I promise. You can always come to me if this happens again—there’s no shame in asking for help.”
Bunny nodded slowly, another pebble on the ever-growing pile of Wind’s questions. But for tonight, with the raging storm outside, he would leave it be. He had a new friend to keep safe.
And if he comforted himself in the process, well then, no one else needed to know.

This might seem a little silly but as a woman starting to get hairier because of PCOS, it feels really good to see you depict Laura's hairiness in a neutral (dare I say positive?) way. Like, even if it's technically completely unrelated it still helps when thinking about my future appearance and how it'll be perceived by others
Im so sorry for taking so long to reply to ur ask anon, but you have no idea how much this makes me happy!!
Bodily quirks and details unique to each person add so much to someone's appearance (in the best way), and I really like to add that! I physically can't resist giving my characters at least a bit of body hair. Even if it's just armpit hair or a happy trail (it's not called a happy trail for nothing!!)
I struggled so much to accept my own body hair as a teenager, now I embrace it as part of my body, like my chub and robust build. I fully believe that such things are to be appreciated instead of being mocked or used as a debate subject. It is a thing as natural as anything, and to be fair someone whining won't make it go away. I try to treat traits like body hair on a character as both neutral and celebrated, as in it's a part of their body and character so it's natural for it to be there but I also like that it's there.
While I imagine not that many women/people are as hairy as Laura (she's a literal werewolf) I'm still really happy at least someone takes comfort in her design.
Same goes for you anon, your body is something to be appreciated and respected. You're not here to entertain or pleasure anyone, embrace yourself.

You know, I think for the whole romance thing we can sum it up with this: It just goes to show, for some people, Brain cells and good descision making skills are hard to come by.
Tumblr media
It's usually a lot more complicated than that. People aren't born mean, bad or cruel towards others. They either learn it, or it's a defensive reaction. When someone is mean towards another group, for whatever reason, it's commonly a learned hatred, sometimes influenced by others, sometimes learned by themselves, but no one is just born like that, already hating on other people and wanting to control how they'll live their lives. This is why it's usually said that people need to unlearn homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, racism, etc. Sadly it's not just a lack of brain cells and good decision making skills...

I'm responding to that one teenage Anon, as someone who's about to become one of those "30 year old hags" myself by the end of the year.
Anon, I hate to break it to you, but 30 isn't that old. While that's not exactly a spring chicken age, that's still fairly young all things considered. What do you expect women that age to do? Give up all of their hobbies to go clean the kitchen and do taxes? No, they are gonna have hobbies and interests just like you. You are gonna be that age one day. The day you turn 30 is gonna creep up on you A LOT sooner than you think. I doubt you are just gonna drop your interest in video games and anime at that age, so quit expecting other 30 year olds to.
The target audience in Japan is "working age women" and college students, not high schoolers or middle schoolers. That's why they sell furniture, silver rings with precious gems and expensive high heels based on TWST over there, because the target audience would have adult jobs and will be able to afford it. The only reason why that isn't the case in the west is because Disney 4Kids-afied the game and dumbed it down to make it younger. The JP version was meant for that former demographic, so you are the odd one out if you are talking about the original game, not the people you claim.
I totally agree with you about the debate about fem!Yuus being stupid, but I don't think it's as prevalent of a problem as you believe. I've been here since the game came out in Japan, and I hardly ever came across these people. Most people are either indifferent or fine with either. I think it's just the Twitter or TikTok algorithm feeding you that content because you constantly interact with it. If you don't want to see it, then don't interact with that side of the fandom on your actual accounts. It's as simple as that. You have to curate your own fandom experience. That's just how this works.
Adding to the previous point, while I want to see more official female Yuus or even a female one shot villain, the reality is that TWST is a Joseimuke (female-targeted media). The JP audience tend to want to see pretty men over women in those, because of a variety of cultural reasons that will be too long to get into. I don't agree with it. But, it is what it is. They might be leaning into making them more male because of the target demographic. However, if you want to see more fem!Yuu content, there are plenty of fics featuring that on AO3, Wattpad and other sites that you can check out.
What do you have against BL fans? Lots of people who enjoy that content are LGBT themselves or suspect they might be. They are backbone of fandom. Again, you curate your own experience. Don't like it, don't interact with it.
Anon, while I might sound harsh, I'm saying this because I want to give you some advice about this as someone who has been in fandoms since I was in middle school. I honestly believe that if you curate your experience and focus on the parts of the fandom you enjoy, you will have a lot better time. This doesn't go for just TWST, but every fandom out there. Anyways, I hope you will find your people in this fandom one day, kiddo.
Thank you for answering the previous anon in a level-headed and mature fashion.
Tumblr media
I would not have been so kind, which is why I mostly kept my fingers off the keyboard (ha). As a former teenaged fandom person, this is the type of thing that can be grown out of. So while pushback is appropriate, a less aggrivated take is definitely appreciated.
NOW FOR A SLIGHTLY MORE AGGRIVATED ADDITION!
I'll add that the ageist nonsense in that poor anon's post is going to be really embarassing when they turn 18-20 years old and are suddenly expected to apologize for ever having a crush on a teenaged fictional character. Furthermore, I think most of the people who are anti-female Yuu and Ocs, probably skew towards the younger side of the fandom. . . but I can't technically prove that.
Thank you for your addition!

Wow at all the syscourse going on. To throw in my four pence:
1. Y'all are making assumptions about people you barely know about outside of their social media presence. You don't know if they're getting a diagnosis or already have one, and saying someone's faking because their DID/OSDD doesn't present like "normal" or like yours (if you have it) is kind of disingenuous.
2. On the whole traumagenic thing... eh. I get that medically DID/OSDD is inseparable from trauma. Still, I think making that the be-all-end-all of systemhood doesn't sound very nice. I feel it sort of gives an expectation that you have to constantly be sad and in misery of being a system and having trauma and want to not be a system. Not that there's anything wrong with wanting to fuse, but I'm fairly certain not every single system in the world wants that.
3. From what I've seen of the endogenic crowd, it's not like they call themselves "non-traumatic DID/OSDD" or some shit. They just call themselves endogenic systems.
4. Y'all calling people fakers and brainwashed children in cults are probably just enforcing the belief if they're really faking. People don't tend to just go "Oh, you're right" when insulted, you know. Also, on that topic of endogenic systems, some of them have turned out to be traumagenic systems/have DID/OSDD; they only thought they didn't have trauma because it was buried so deep it was practically forgotten. So, y'know, all that fakeclaiming could hinder and even prevent from that revelation happening.
FWIW, I don't disagree with the original submission. Fictives (and, for that matter, kinnies and DAs) shouldn't get to dictate what people do with the fictional character they're sourced from. I just think the wording and subsequent discourse is kinda yikes.
Posting since this is a response to a previous problem and the previous asks related to it.

Anon that asked about Will’s character writing here! Tysm for the long reply, it was really interesting to read! I especially found your thoughts about Will’s relationship with El interesting, I hadn’t really thought about it that way before but it makes a lot of sense. That sort of subtle resentment definitely adds a lot to their dynamic and is super interesting! Did you have any further thoughts on El’s relationship with Jonathan? I don’t recall ever really interacting.
Also, “I think the majority of his two-dimensonal-ness, as it were, is fandom based. He's flattened out to "sad gay sweetheart artist" because no one seems to be able to consider his flawed moments and what they say about him as a character in any real or genuine way” you’re so right about this. I do think that the fandom’s portrayal of Will might have influenced my perception of his character, especially as it’s been quite a while since I watched the show. It kind of seems like a lot of fan portrayals have him as this “tragic soft boy uwu babey” of the show which I admit to finding a bit ridiculous and extremely boring.
In regard to characters like Karen and Bob being interesting in terms of their relationships with the “flashy” characters and not the supernatural I definitely agree. I do find them and their position in the story interesting, although I suppose that might have been helped by the fact that they never received the “Will Byers treatment” in fandom spaces where they are automatically portrayed/treated as flawless and “the protagonist” which the show revolves around. (Not that Will has no importance to the story but it’s very much not about him, if anyone is the protagonist it’s El) I’ll definitely keep what you said in mind when I do my rewatch, especially what you said about non-linear storytelling! Thanks again, I hope you have a wonderful day!
Previous Ask
Hi again, Nonnie! Honestly, I should be thanking you for the thoughtful ask. It was refreshing amongst the deluge of anger. I love talking about Will—actually talking about Will, I mean.
Re: El and Jon...We really don't see much of them interacting. Jon is far closer to Will, and even they self-admittedly are quite distant by the time El begins living with the Byers family. However, even at El's darkest moment in Lenora, Jon is there reaching out to comfort her. He may be stoned off his ass, but he's at least making an effort. It's clear that he cares about her, or at the very least, he cares about not seeing a teenage girl hurting like that and letting it go on that way without saying something to reassure her.
I think his behavior with El really adds an interesting dimension to El and Will's relationship. El is closer to Will just by proximity; they're the same age, in the same classes, in the same friend group. However, when she smacks Angela, Jon is the one to reach out and comfort her while Will remains silent the whole ride home (and even at the dinner table later, where Jon once again speaks up in El's defense re: the incident not being that bad/it being blown out of proportion). I also find it interesting that when Will does speak up on El's behalf, it's with Jonathan and/or Mike leading the charge (see: scenes with the police in Lenora).
I think this all also speaks, to a degree, on Jon's parentification and his willingness to take on a caring role towards the younger children in the household/his sense of duty in that regard...but it also speaks to him valuing El for what she is to their family. She's a girl in need of love and support, she's his new little sister, but she's also this miracle who's saved his little brother from certain death multiple times over. I'd say that El is very important to Jon, even if we don't witness them interacting very much.
You and I are of a similar mind re: the fandom's attitude towards Will. The "uwu soft tragic gay artist" trope is tired, and honestly...it's a little vanilla for my tastes, figuratively speaking. The strict adherence of the fandom at large to that characterization of Will makes having in-depth conversations about him difficult at best, especially when his flawed moments are glossed over as "confusion", etc. Like...no! It's more fun when you can admit that he's a little bit of a cunt sometimes. Personally, I like my characters to be a little bitchy for the satisfaction of the dig. It's why I liked Henry so much in TFS—he's not always afraid to be mouthy for the sake of expressing his displeasure. He has certain thoughts that he usually keeps to himself, and they come to light when he feels more comfortable in his company "accepting" his snarky remarks (see: him discussing Virginia with Brenner). It's more fun that way, and Will is no different. [Magneto voice] I prefer the real Will Byers. I said the real Will Byers. Perfection.
SPEAK 🗣️ 🗣️ 🗣️ Absolutely zero comments or corrections here.
I hope you enjoy your rewatch, Nonnie!! Nice talkin to ya :3

7. what attire do they feel most attractive in? & 8. what attire do they find others most attractive in? ( for Kafka )
Tumblr media
7. What attire do they feel most attractive in?
Something nice. I know, it seems like a cop-out. Oh, and no, I don't mean a nice dress for a fancy occasion or something similar, but what she wears on the daily, what she wears throughout the day are things that she feels attractive in. But, Kafka also isn't one who dresses herself with any sort of intent like that, she simply dresses herself in what she likes, both in appearance and how it feels when worn, but by default I think those are also things that many would classify as 'nice things', perhaps even fancy things, but not because they are fancy. I always have difficulty describing this properly, so I hope that this is clear enough, Charlie. If not, I owe you one.
8. What attire do they find others most attractive in?
It's not about the type of attire, and more so the person who wears said attire. No no, don't worry, this isn't a 'personality matters most' type of post, I do have an actual answer. Someone who's essentially well-dressed, similarly to her. Someone who isn't vain or arrogant about their appearance, but simultaneously still someone who... actively presents themselves nicely, someone who's a good dresser, or at least someone who cares to present themselves nicely. It's a definite bonus. You know, someone who has taste, their own taste (contrary to popular belief: she's not one who'd enjoy having to help someone to buy clothes— an occasional suggestion, sure, but she's not your personal shopper), someone who knows what looks good on them. That kind of ease, that kind of confidence? That's attractive to her.
