Sharing one of my favorite moments from any choice script/IF ever! Spoilers ahead for The Fog Knows Your Name. (more people should play it ok!!!)

It's such a sweet, raw exchange that drives me a little insane every now and then.

Romancing Rex Keller aside, this game has soo much juicy character dynamic potential (*coughs* found family *coughs*) I've actually drafted a fic for it last year which follows up the ending where the MC gives himself up to the fog, and returns after four or five years and the rest of the cast has to deal with that change! It doesn't really have an outline, so it might not go anywhere yet. Maybe once I get that spark.

Hollywood superhero Charlie Cox makes dreams come true for six-year-old Rex

Six-year-old Rex Davies, who lives with a vision impairment, was given an incredible surprise on Thursday 10 November, as he was presented with the Inspirational Young Person of the Year award by his favourite superhero Charlie Cox at Guide Dogs' Annual People Awards.

The Daredevil actor, who has also appeared as the character in the Spiderman and She-Hulk franchises, had initially been asked to record a congratulatory video message for young Rex. However, when Charlie heard about Rex’s inspirational fundraising for Guide Dogs, he kindly offered to not only record a video message, but to present the award and host the event. Charlie recorded a message anyway, congratulating Rex on his nomination and saying he hoped he’d meet him one day. Little did Rex realise he was going to meet his hero the very next day!

In his role as Daredevil, Charlie Cox pays the role of blind lawyer Matt Murdock, who fights crime by night in the popular series now on Disney Plus. The series challenged perceptions of sight loss and Cox deservedly received a Helen Keller Achievement Award for his portrayal of the Marvel comic-book character.

Rex, from Darlington, has an eye condition called optic atrophy, as well as nystagmus, and attended the ceremony in Reading with his mum and dad, Lorna and John and Lorna’s guide dog Yarren. Both Lorna and Rex have the same vision impairment and seeing how much having a guide dog has helped his mum, Rex was inspired to fundraise for the charity.

In doing so, and at just five-years-old, Rex challenged himself to do a 3km muddy obstacle course and raised more than £1000 to help others living with a vision impairment throughout the UK.

“Rex had taken a big interest in Charlie Cox, as he absolutely loves Daredevil. When Rex begins to start using a white cane, he wants one that looks the same as the one Charlie’s character Matt Murdock uses. It is so nice for Rex to have a cool superhero like that to look up to and to meet him was such a surprise. By coming along, Charlie has definitely created a memory that will last a lifetime for Rex.”

Rex received multiple nominations for his fundraising efforts, having inspired so many people by not just raising funds, but also awareness of Guide Dogs UK and the services provided for people with sight loss across the country. His story also inspired Charlie Cox, who was thrilled to be able to present him with the award.

I was honoured to present Rex with his Inspirational Young Person of the Year award at Guide Dogs’ award ceremony on Thursday. I heard Rex’s story, all that he has achieved at such a young age, and it was a real privilege to be invited to play a part in making the day special for him and his family. The passion, enthusiasm and commitment Rex has shown to helping others makes him as much of a superhero as Daredevil. Congratulations to Rex and all who have supported him in raising funds and awareness for such a worthwhile cause.

also, it was kinda funny for me to find out everyone either used necromancy or sweetly pleaded him to come back while my mc just. yelled at him. "bitch you better be alive in the next five seconds or i am making a bonfire out of your corpse and roasting s'mores over it" and he got so annoyed he came back fully. then kissed mc to shut them up.

i was also playing a skeptic mc too, for good measure. "a fog beast? pft, what a load of bullshit" (exorcises ennis, finds out where anuja's dad is buried, resurrects rex, makes the fog disappear) "i just don't believe in that kinda crap."

Gedeon Burkhard: Warum ist es um den Münchner so ruhig geworden?

Er war das Herrchen von Kommissar Rex und ging in Wien mit seinem vierbeinigen Freund auf Verbrecherjagd: der Münchner Schauspieler Gedeon Burkhard. Heute fährt er mit Käpt’n Kasi alias Tobias Kasimirowicz in seiner Wahlheimat Berlin Go-Kart und heuerte auf Kasis Hausboot an. Dort hat er mit uns nicht nur über diesen Dreh und das internationale Filmprojekt ‚The Key‘ gesprochen, wo er u.a. auch Regie führt, sondern auch über das Älterwerden! Ein Schicksal, mit welchem wir alle umgehen müssen.

Mit Kasi drehte der 46-Jährige Gedeon Burkhardt eine Episode für die neue Doku-Soap ‚Käpt’n Kasi – Auf hoher Spree‘, einer Eigenproduktion des TV-Senders History (zu sehen ab 16. November 2015 immer montags um 22 Uhr). Wir haben den Schauspieler anlässlich der Dreharbeiten zum Interview getroffen.

Wie kamen Sie mit Käpt’n Kasi zusammen?

Gedeon Burkhard: ‚Ich habe seit zehn Jahren ein Go-Kart im Keller stehen, das ich endlich mal wieder in Gang bringen wollte. Und da konnte ich nach so langer Zeit ein bisschen mechanische Unterstützung gebrauchen. Käpt‘n Kasi kam mir da gerade recht (lacht). In der Folge meldet er sich auf eine Anzeige, die ich geschaltet habe, denn er braucht Geld, um den Motor seines neuen Hausboots zu reparieren. Wir haben also mein Kart ausgegraben, repariert, und dann ein Rennen zusammen gemacht. Später haben wir dann auch noch auf seinem Hausboot gegrillt. Kasi ist ein Überlebenskünstler mit vielseitigen Fähigkeiten, wie zum Beispiel ein Kart wieder zum Leben zu erwecken. Ich bin früher in Wien damit gefahren. Das Rennkart war ein Jugendtraum, den ich mir erfüllt habe. Als Kind konnte ich mir diesen Traum nicht leisten. Aber als ich dann in Wien für ‚Kommissar Rex‘ gedreht habe, bot sich mir endlich die Möglichkeit, diesen Jugendtraum zu erfüllen. Es gab dort eine fantastische Rennstrecke und dort bin ich regelmäßig gefahren.‘ 

Warum haben Sie das Kartfahren an den Nagel gehängt?

Gedeon Burkhard: ‚Wenn man zwei, drei Jahre damit herum gedüst ist und irgendwann feststellt, das 12-Jährige einem locker um die Ohren fahren, dann lässt man das irgendwann (lacht).‘

Sie sind in München geboren, haben lange Zeit in Wien gelebt und sind seit einigen Jahren in Berlin daheim. Fühlen Sie sich dort zu Hause?

Gedeon Burkhard: ‚Ich war lange genug in Wien und wollte einfach mal wieder etwas Neues. Außerdem war meine Tochter unterwegs. Insofern bin ich mittlerweile in Berlin sehr verwurzelt. Da kann man nicht mehr einfach so die Koffer packen und sagen: Jetzt lebe ich woanders.‘

Sie sagten vorhin, Kasi sei ein Überlebenskünstler. Wie viel Überlebenskünstler steckt in Ihnen?

Gedeon Burkhard: ‚Wenn ich ehrlich bin: Ich weiß nicht genau, wie sich das ausdrückt. Aber bislang habe ich es auf jeden Fall geschafft zu überleben.‘

Ist man als Schauspieler nicht generell Überlebenskünstler?

Gedeon Burkhard: ‚Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob das zusammenpasst. Aber wahrscheinlich muss man als Schauspieler auch Überlebenskünstler sein, ja. Da es kein sicherer Beruf ist. Man weiß nie, ob und wann der nächste Job kommt. Trotzdem sind für mich Überlebenskünstler eher Menschen, die bunt durchs Leben gehen und die verschiedensten Dinge machen, um zu überleben. Ich hingegen bin hauptsächlich einer, der im Filmgeschäft arbeitet.‘

Also bodenständig?

Gedeon Burkhard: ‚Wenn Sie die Schauspielerei als bodenständig bezeichnen wollen, dann gerne. Ich bin der normalste Mensch der Welt. Aus meiner Sicht ist die Schauspielerei auf jeden Fall etwas Bodenständiges.‘ 

Welche neuen Projekte gibt es außer Käpt’n Kasi?

Gedeon Burkhard: ‚Ich habe bei meinem ersten Spielfilm Regie geführt, einem Low Budget Horrorthriller. Wir haben in Berlin gedreht, aber mit amerikanischen Schauspielern in den Hauptrollen. Wir sind gerade dabei, diesen Film zu verkaufen. Es sieht sehr gut aus, dass wir ihn zuerst in den USA an einen Verleih bringen – was für uns natürlich ein riesengroßer Erfolg wäre. Und dann schauen wir weiter. Ich bin da sozusagen reingestolpert, aber es macht wahnsinnig viel Spaß. Wir haben schon zwei Jahre hart an diesem Film gearbeitet, ich habe am Drehbuch mitgeschrieben und den Film auch geschnitten. Die Postproduktion dauert etwas länger, aber das ist bei Low-Budget-Produktionen ganz normal. Im Moment schreibe ich gerade an einer deutschen Komödie. Und dazwischen habe ich zum Glück auch immer wieder gedreht.‘
