the problem of being the child of a person who was abused but also abusive is that you learned to nod along when they say shit like „oh well, I did suffer, but I could not do it differently, it was so hard but I did my best“ while inside everything screams LIKE HELL YOU DID but when you try to bring this up in a diplomatic way you parent suddenly behaves like a fucking kid, throws a tantrum and tries to gaslight you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

#also really hope louis’ team has something up their sleeves to get fan excitement up for the release week because boy is this weak and they#really should do better to ramp it up#post tiktoks with tiny snippets of the songs and having the fans guess what song it is for example#or something to boost fan engagement because ive been through many impending album releases in this fandom and this is not it#the excitement is quite mild#they did a big push for bigger than me and a lot of it seemed to me to be for promo rather than for the single#there was scarcely anything new for out of my system in the sense that the questions are still the same as they were for btm#they are circulating the same old and it’s not interesting for many people to watch and then they manage to sneak in babygate always and in#quite ridiculous senses like him listening the album first and stuff and while i still think there’s a reason for this (and i’ve spoken#about what i think may be happening with that and with the reasons for it before so i’ll not repeat myself)#but it just alienates more and more people and with the promo being repetitive there’s nothing much to outweight it for many people#and unfortunately since louis himself is saying he does not care for charts the fans are not very motivated to stream and do listening#parties as they used to be when getting to number 1 was encouraged and by the boys and desirable#plus imho they messed up the tour announcement and sale which shouldve come after the album comes out because people will know what they’re#buying tickets for#but anyway i wonder whether there’s something up still with sabotage of louis and radios not playing him and stuff#because despite the emphasis on him being free and in control there are so many old patterns recurring that it’s incongruent#im really excited for the album and the music and the direction louis is going to take artistically and creatively#but some things about his promo still seem very off#especially knowing what an astute businessman he is and just how deep an understanding he has#of his fanbase as well as the GP and marketing#also i really do think it’s purposeful they’re building on chicago and danielle associations and ramping up babygate and that E is out#for good

I like to imagine a sarcastic/aggressive Hawke’s title by act 3 is something long and drawn out like Daenerys in Game of Thrones.

glee has many a lesson to teach on what not to do when writing a show everything that made it good in the beginning sours and it's at times mediocre at times genius but very often bad it's full of things that have aged poorly and full of things that show that they ran out of ideas but they were also still doing literally everything. it has adam's apples singing baby got back also

LOTS of people missing the point of the overuse of slang in this ep. A lot of people have been critiquing the writing for using gen z slang and aave incorrectly. That’s the POINT y’all. This influencer is using aesthetics she doesn’t understand as a marketing tool. The choice to make her overuse slang and use it incorrect is (imho) intentional! She’s supposed to sound kinda ridiculous and appropriative. Y’all acting like there aren’t hundreds of wannabe TikTok influencers acting just like that for views.

i’d take the bomb in your head and disarm it by @henrysfox (book-verse)
@na-dineee: Alex and Henry are students at NYU who randomly become dorm roommates. After a few short weeks of mutual dislike their friendship starts to grow - and could it actually be more ...?! At the end of the story, I was baffled that the two of them could be so completely clueless the whole time?! Then again, who am I to judge when someone settles for half-baked assumptions instead of just mustering up the courage and trying to have an honest conversation?! 😇 The story is so gentle, so angsty and Alex is just so vulnerable and soft - just beautiful and moving!
you are my mountain (you are my sea) by @alasse9 (book-verse)
@na-dineee: Five moments between Alex and Henry, starting with the visit to Alex's childhood home in Texas after Ellen's election victory, a vulnerable moment in the Brownstone, a vacation in Mexico City... This story isn't even close to 10,000 words, but it's so unbelievably powerful - I am still blown away! The author manages to hit on so many interpersonal aspects and delicate vibrations, to formulate soft, tender feelings and thoughts and describes Alex and Henry both so damn considerate and soulful - the author nailed it (imho), it's almost impossible to grasp!
Shatter Me by @historicallysam (book-verse)
@na-dineee: Henry and Alex are still Prince and First Son, some is canon, a lot slightly modified, but: Alex is out, Henry is not. He isn't even sure if he's gay or if he ever wants to acknowledge it - until he meets Alex and falls head over heels. The catch, on top of the homophobic Queen: Henry is engaged, his fiancée lovely, amazing even, and the wedding date is about to be set. How the author weaves together the familiar events and plotlines and their own ideas is brilliant! Not gonna lie: It was (to me) oppressive at times, really angsty - but also highly gripping!
The Consequences (of our Actions) (series) by @anchoredarchangel (book-verse)
@celeritas2997: Alex is just a Regular Guy who just happened to put Prince Henry on his 'No Consequences Sex List' and proceeds to tell him about this when they meet. Lots of sex (like, ridiculously hot sex) and feelings (SO MANY FEELINGS) ensue. I am convinced that Anchor is magic and will continue shouting about this series from the rooftops until the end of days; it is clever, sexy, funny, beautifully written and so, so, so heartfelt. ❤️
@heybuddy-drabbles: I started this when it first started and thought it was just some fun little pwp canon divergence. When I picked it up again, it was a hell of a series. I loved every last bit of it. It goes way into the whole "If cake gate didn't happen, Alex would have made himself a problem for Henry anyway" and he does in the most glorious way. I can't talk enough about HENRY in this though. It's mostly on Alex POV except the extra chapter but I'm OBSESSED WITH HENRY. How he's older. How he does things for himself like running the shelters with Pez even before he meets Alex. Anyway I could talk about Henry in this series for days but that's not why we are here for. Just, do yourself a favor and just read this.
5 Times Henry Hated New Year's + 1 Time He Didn't by @hgejfmw-hgejhsf (book-verse)
@suseagull04: This fic is such an emotional rollercoaster, but it's worth every gut-wrenching twist! It delves into each of the six parts so well that you feel like you're experiencing each of Henry's life experiences with him.
I don't wanna look at anything else now that I saw you by @gayrootvegetable (book-verse)
@suseagull04: This is the cutest combination of a high school AU and soulmate AU! This fic is short but so very sweet!
if you have a garden and a library... by @glasshouses-and-stones (book-verse)
@suseagull04: This fic is so cute! It's not technically a Cinderella AU, but it has those vibes, and the author does a great job with the setting. Another fic that's short but so sweet!
It takes a lot to know a man by dazedandconfused (book/movie-verse)
@inexplicablymine: when I tell you to mind the trigger warnings that is true, but I can also say my GOD is this fic fantastic the writing is superb and the pacing is right on and the plot is so intricately woven I am elated to recommend it everywhere I can. Talk about an in depth suspense thriller mixed with that sex club dom/sub trope mixed with a law case ~ truly there are no words to describe how much this work gripped me as I read through it
@dot524: The subject matter is heavy at times and so are the smut scenes, but also I was fascinated with the story. I didn’t expect it to end up in the intense culminating scene that it did.
Something borrowed, Something blue by @anincompletelist (book-verse)
@heybuddy-drabbles: Yes, I know I recommended this during our Wip Wednesdays but now I'm going to recommend it here for the peeps who only read complete works. Read this. I beg of you. It's so excellent. Henry's relationship with June is something so special to me in this. June and her little family, her daughter means the world to me as well. Alex and his complicated feelings for Henry, their "enemies" to lovers road is just. God I loved it so much. Henry. HENRY IN THIS. Just. Please read this.
hold on (get ready for the ride) by wilmonflicker (book-verse)
@wilmonsfolklore: a professional soccer/football AU that I binged and completely fell in love with. Alex transfers to the team where Henry is the star player, and they get together. it's beautifully written, smutty at times and perfect for sport lovers and non-sport lovers alike

It's just lazy writing honestly. Saying that you want to develop a "mature relationship" between two characters and killing off the female character to fuel man pain is such a tired and dirty trope.
And from his own words in that article - caryl falling in love is "obvious" and "easy" and such a "TV book of tricks" (again - all of these words could have different interpretations.)
Like, my dude, "friends to lovers" is an old but gold timeless trope for a reason. UNLIKE, introducing a female character and killing her to serve the male character's man pain (if that is the route they are in fact taking - I would rather her live or have her death serve some larger/meaningful purpose - bcoz yes...i can't imagine Daryl and Isabelle together - they have known each other for two months and most it has been her lying to him/manipulating him - my man deserves better BUT I also want female characters to be treated fairly) Forcing a relationship between her and Daryl so that the audience would feel more for her when she dies - and completely reducing her death to prop up Daryl is NOT the way to go. Give her a meaningful arc and real/clear/grounded motives and emotional depth.
Also - can we like backtrack here for a minute - saying that making Caryl romantic would be too easy - is like the most ridiculous thing I have heard in a while. Besides the fact that they are both incredibly complex and layered characters of their own right (the best to come out of TWDU imho) - their shared journey is such a gold mine in terms of potential - there is angst, real emotional stakes and conflicts, so much freaking build up that was already established (I mean the entire s10 arc was basically the angst-iest fanfiction to ever fanfiction) - and underneath it all - a bond/understanding/love that is so revered by so many (even the non-carylers). AND - the chemistry between the actors is the perfect cherry on top of this fantabulous sundae. I mean, u can create a whole rom com and a half out of it.
The easy route is pairing Daryl up with a character like Isabelle. Because it doesn't take much creativity or much thinking honestly.
In short, if you are going to go with a TV trope - plz don't put your bets on something as tired and tedious as reducing a female characters death so that the man can cry a few tears. Go with the tried and tested and timeless dynamic so many ppl root for (I mean - I only recently joined twitter to get updates on the Book of Carol - and twdcaryl has been trending for like three days straight now - and that Entire hype is created by carylers- they are out there dissecting every teeny tiny bts pic that we get from s3 - and creating fan art and just non stopping talking about it.)
I only finished twd a few months backs and since then, have been obsessed with this dynamic. I can't say I have hopes for canon. And I have never once interacted with this fandom beyond liking posts and devouring caryl fanfiction from so many talented writers here. But this article just seems like the dumbest decision ever (like why dig your own grave)
Me about Caryl...

I think most people think Azzi is just a catch and shoot player but she can do a lot more. She came up through the system as a point guard, her and P competed for those spots on the Team USA stuff. So like her shooting is textbook, she can be a three level scorer. Barring the knee stuff she is actually built enough to fight in the paint and drive.
I think she's also sneaky off the ball. In her healthy games, she does a ton of movement and cutting; she's not just standing at the arc to wait for the pass. Her high bball IQ (thanks Katie and Tim) means she understands how she can pull defenders to open up space and create opportunities. And she has solid defense and handles.
IMHO, she's a much better all-around player than she may get credit for since her shot is so pretty and fast, she needs like no space and has a super quick release. That's what people remember. She can dazzle you with her shooting, like Caitlin, but can do a lot of off-ball stuff to help the team and actually play defense. A healthy Azzi is an All-American and an NPOY finalist, and I hope that's what we get in 2024-25 because it honestly breaks my heart that all those injuries have taken away some of these accolades, like her never being on the wall (yet) and stuff like that.
For me, Azzi's biggest enemy is her mind. As a constant overthinker, I relate lol. But if she can not worry about being perfect and putting pressure on herself and just have fun and play she'll level up even more. I want that for both her and P this season, just shut off your brains and just hoop, your body knows what to do. Anyway you know hoops better than me so I'm a little nervous typing out this much but figured I'd add my 2 cents. - ☘️
thank you for those wonderful additions - i’ll be honest i was a little lazy with the scout. i will give y’all a better one once i go back in for her hs/aau highlights
azzi is a very, VERY smart player. i don’t think geno has played her off the ball as much as he could be, but going back and watching her high school videos, you can see from the way she moves on the court just how in tune with the game she is.
i only mention her 3 point shooting extensively just because it really is one of the most beautiful jump shots i’ve ever seen. from anyone. like she gotta klay ass jumper y’all it’s ridiculous and it’s versatile, too.
i think the confidence issue is really hindering her, too (along with injuries out of her control) and it’s smth i saw in paige as well during the iowa game. anyone who’s played a sport knows that when you just shut your brain off and PLAY - the game comes to you. i’m so excited for this season.
my fav anon btw 🥰🥰🥰

Are Louis and Lestat in an exclusive romantic relationship on the books? Show!stat likes 'variety' and the way I took it is as an open relationship, like they go out and have their fun, but the romantic attachment is exclusive and just the two of them, instead of a polyamorous relationship that has love among multiple people... Anyway, I'm asking because I'm trying to understand show!stat better lol. I don't think the show has been clear about it, but maybe they want us to be confused? That's their goal? Because I believe Lestat only goes to Antoinette after he gets the impression Louis is slipping away. And that he takes Louis' shame in vampirism as shame in being with him too? So I get him trying to find a distraction or whatever. But I struggle with understanding this, not because he's 'with' two partners, because I believe all relationship configurations are valid and well, if they live forever, maybe they need a more diverse sex life than us and sex doesn't equal love lol. But even in his 'non-exclusivity', Lestat is still... Exclusive? Like, he just seems to go to Antoinette. But he also doesn't seem to really care about her either, like, I know we only got Louis' POV and not his, but he let her lose a finger and kicked her out of her own home to have sex with Louis? If he was sleeping around it would've made more sense to me, like, yes, he needs diverse partners, scenarios, kinks etc to entertain his sex life. But this feels like having a side piece only because Louis is distant, but being ready to drop her as soon he feels like there isn't an obstacle anymore. Like, if Louis embraces vampirism, finds some peace with his existential crisis an grief and gets to a good, comfortable place in his life, maybe they can be fully together now. And if/when that happens, I'm not sure if Lestat would need more? Anyway, this makes me so confused, because he has this aura of an extroverted, social, sexy, life of the party etc kind of guy that you'd stereotype and associate with being eternally single, sleeping around etc. But he also took so long to try again after what happened between him and Nicky, then he was fell in love with Louis and stayed in NOLA because of him, they familial and domestic life with Claudia for years and were genuinely happy before everything... There are parts of him that feel pretty traditional and simple too. So I'm like that Oprah "what's the truth?' meme lol. Anyway, thank you and sorry this got so long.
:)) Lestat is… monogamous at heart. I think Sam said that at one point. He loves deeply, and fully, and fatally.
He loves Louis.
Their relationship is not the easiest. We have only seen an edited, distorted picture of it for now, we also know now that Louis (at least thinks) he made it awful for Lestat because he wanted to make Lestat suffer (as he was suffering).
Vampires have (what I call) feeding flings. What Louis does in SF. Fuck and kill. What Lestat obviously does, too, bc Louis expects Antoinette to burn when he comes back.
The problem is that she doesn’t. Because she’s more than a fling. She is a symptom of their problems. In the book Antoine later tells us (yes, in the book Antoine survives) that Lestat came to him to talk about what moved him, which he felt he couldn’t at home, because he felt he would be ridiculed. Lestat in the show alludes to that when he rants about Claudia in Antoinette‘s bed (in the hotel). Antoinette was a retreat.
As such she is both less and more than an affair, something that is made clear by her getting turned later. We are led to believe he only turned her out of convenience, but Lestat always only turns people from or for love.
The edited tale tries to play up the cheating and jealousy aspect, but that is not (all) there is to it. Louis‘ and Lestat‘s main problem came imho, when Louis stopped feeding properly and stopped biting Lestat - the vicious circle that came with the lack of intimacy and bridging of the maker/fledgling barrier.
I talked about that here:
So the truth… the truth is it’s not as simple as we are led to believe. In their good times Louis had no problems inviting prey into his brothel to (fuck and) kill. Or the soldiers in s1. Louis did not even comment on them being in their bedroom :).
I think I would put it: they’re as monogamous as vampires can be?^^
And we‘ll probably see more hints wrt s1 in s3 :)
