When will the albus severus name discourse in this fandom die omggg. I feel like people are missing a really crucial point when talking about this, which is that all of these characters’ lives were defined around war. No, ginny would not have an issue naming her son after snape because he was a dick to neville! Snape dedicated his entire life to fighting a war on the side she was on, a war that her whole family was heavily involved in, a war that she fought her entire sixth year, a war that took her brother's life, why in the world would she care about something so considerably petty like snape being a shit teacher when he fought and died heroically for her and her loved one's lives?

20 years isn't that old.

18 (and 1/2) is only two years less than 20. At eighteen, Two-bit lived in his laughs and jokes as the world around him deteriorated. The two kids he once babysat would be torn apart. He would say his goodbyes to one without knowing it, leaving the other dead inside.

17 is three years younger than 20. Dallas Winston and Steve Randle would have been in their last two years in high school. The two, instead of worrying about their futures, were forced to run, both taught how to keep their hands visible and keep their heads low when sirens passed by them on the street.

16 is four years younger than 20. Johnny Cade and Sodapop Curtis, the second youngest group in the gang. One dead in an attempt of being a hero, the other working to the bone to be the other pillar of support to help sustain a household. Sixteen is much closer to twenty, but still not far from ten.

14 is six years younger than 20. Ponyboy Curtis, not even fourteen for over two months, living through the unthinkable. Nearly burned alive, five people dead in less than a year, all but forcing him to live a nightmare.

20 isn't far off from 18. 18 isn't far off from 17. 17 isn't far off from 16. 16 isn't far off from 14. 14 isn't far off from 20.

Thinking about how Venom and Robo-Ky started out as two deeply lonely individuals that ended up fitting together so well that they became two halves of a whole and getting emotional about it. Getting weepy. Misty eyed even.

well. i rewrote that bit at the end there

izzy is dying in ed’s arms. a seagull circles overhead as the crew mourns him. buttons? the light is leaving izzy’s eyes and he stops breathing. the bird lands on him. a few moments pass. then, miraculously, izzy jolts awake. his bleeding slows and then stops. he’s gonna need some time to heal, but he’ll live.

zheng forms an alliance with the crew of the revenge, and they wind up being a little mini-fleet of 3 ships - one captained by zheng, one captained by stede (with izzy as first mate), and one captained by spanish jackie. the crew of the revenge stays together (except the swede who’s with jackie), but of course there’s plenty of time for them to mingle with the other ships.

ed starts his inn by the sea, neighboring mary and anne. he gets frequent visits from the zheng/stede/jackie alliance, and slowly his place becomes something like a new, more peaceful version of the republic of pirates. lucius and pete decide to quit pirating and start a family, and they get jobs working for ed at the inn. and, after many years of pirating and adventuring, stede settles down at the inn as well.

how insanely difficult it must be for vaggie to dedicate every single day to helping the woman she loves work towards a goal when no matter what she just fundamentally cannot apply the basic beliefs behind that goal to herself. everyday she's in awe of how inspiring and beautiful and amazing charlie and her ideas are and thinks about how she too, in a way, is down there at all because she does believe people have the potential to be good, to be better even if they are sinners. that it doesnt make their souls worthless. but she just cant internalize that it applies to her, too. how could it? she knows what she did. she killed hundreds, thousands, indiscriminately, for years. you can't redeem that. nothing could ever redeem that. she's way past the mark of cruelty and harm almost any regular human could even feasibly Do and that makes sense because she isn't human. the hotel is a second chance for people and she doesnt get one because she's not a person. she's an exterminator. she's a monster. she's an angel. and no matter what, she always will be.
