author's note: i miss writing for atsv. anyways this is a draft from new years. ITZ LATE I KNOW I KNOW SHHHHHH

▸ GWEN STACY who's not the best with words, but has drafted about a million letters of confession for you anyways. they stay in a shoebox under her bed— some crumpled up, folded away out of timidness, or ripped out of frustration with none of them quite good enough for you.

she's spent the entire year writing letter after letter and has experienced the hand cramps to prove it yet, no progress has been made.

during new years, she invites you over for a celebration for two, just hanging out in her bedroom.

she's praying you don't notice that she accidentally left the shoe box out. freaks out when you ask her about her new kicks— until she realizes you're referring to the ones she's wearing. the ones she stole from hobie. phew.

silently makes a promise to tell you eventually. while terrified of losing you— gwen at least wants to let you know you're loved and cherished, that you mean the world to her. maybe this year.

▸ HOBIE BROWN who's figured that whatever you have is better than nothing. he's as direct as possible with you without saying it outright. and it's not quite a relationship, not quite a friendship— but he likes it that way.

at least you're heading into the new year together, watching the fireworks in the distance on a rooftop. there's no better place to be in the world, as far as he's concerned.

hobie offers you a kiss on new years as a joke yeah right, but will definitely be surprised when you happily lean in and plant a few on his face.

"are you missing on purpose?" he quips, chuckling to himself.

he decides to place a quick one on your lips, just as it turns midnight.

both of your faces heat up as you awkwardly glance away from him— but then you feel hobie lean into your side, his head rested on your shoulder.

▸ MILES MORALES (1610) who's rehearsed the planned confession in front of his mirror night after night, only to realize an entire year has passed and he still hasn't told you.

he tries to and... yeah, fireworks make it hard for anyone to hear anything. it's okay though. at least they're pretty. not as pretty as you. he watches you tilt your head and laugh and nod politely, knowing damn well you didn't hear any of what he said.

after a moment, the noise dies down enough for you to say, "hah... uh— sorry what?"

miles decides just to crack a joke instead. something about starting his year off right with you around. nearly dies when you grin and squeeze his hand in agreement.

▸ MILES MORALES (42) gets you a nice gift even though new years gifts aren't exactly typical. just wants to show that he cares about you.

will try to scowl as you grin and gush about it but eventually chuckles at your reaction to such a simple gesture.

you have a minor freak out, realizing you have no gift for him— but he only shrugs.

"you're enough."

the grin that forms on your face is almost stupid. he's already anticipated the words that will come out of your mouth as you tease him for being sappy. he just rolls his eyes, threatening to never be nice again. whine and complain about it and he'll reconsider.

▸ MIGUEL O'HARA is barely celebrating new years. sure, realizes he's done absolutely NOTHING in terms of confession and intends to keep it that way. i mean. he's kinda busy. and maybe this next year will pull you two apart.

you don't kiss him at midnight, mainly because he's barely spoken the entire time and you're worried about his silence— but you place your palm in his instead. the size difference of your hands makes you smile slightly.

you pause, glancing at him. "i have a good feeling about this year."

he quirks an eyebrow up. "yeah?"

"yeah. we'll have each other."

your earnest smile is enough to send him into cardiac arrest atp.

"...i guess i have a good feeling about it too then."

tmagp 22 spoilers below the cut! proceed with caution! this is a longer one!

scene:

this is a continuation of the night of episode 20 and 21, judged by gwen and lena's conversation and sam's confrontation of alice

celia:

- she repeatedly throws hooks at sam to get him more interested in the magnus institute, the opposite of alice's approach to this. rather than encouraging ignorance, celia pushes sam towards curiosity.

- "i might have come across some important names ... jonathan sims and martin blackwood." girl you literally met them! aside from the obvious implications (that celia is from the TMA universe and is referring to the people she met in that dimension) she could also be referring to the tmagp-verse jon and martin. so far, we dont know anything about them, so they coukd have been involved with the institute (though this may be unlikely, considering their ages would be different to that of tma)

sam:

- he noticed that someone edited his caseload, and confronts alice about it

- "youre trying to control me, again" -> interesting because it gives us insight to their past relationship, and why they might have broken up

- "im done trying to placate a jealous ex" sam seems to be interpreting alice's actions as purely made out of controlling and jealousy. from his perspective, she cant get over him, and has been disrupting his work to regain a place in his life.

- sam is a person whos been heavily controlled in his past, we know that his parents shaped his education and career paths and we can infer that his relationship w alice ended poorly bc of her controlling behaviors. it makes sense that hes not willing to sacrifice freedom once he has it

- "im in. all the way.", this is the first time since the series started that sam has thrown himself fully into this investigation. every other time he was confronted with it, he would claim to be moving on or uninterested. but now, hes accepting that hes involved with it.

alice:

- she admits to sam that she edited his caseload, and that she believes the computer is intentionally giving him cases related to the magnus institute

- she says that shes stuck around the OIAR because its easy money if you can ignore the bad qualities, and she enjoys having the seniority. shes been the only steady employee for a long time, and has the most experience, so she has a place of value in this job and she enjoys that trust and authority. she thought that by training sam, she could teach him how to ignore the creepy stuff like her, and she would be less alone

- she also comes off as upset that sam is choosing to continue his investigation with celia, both ignoring alice's advice and choosing celia over her

lena:

- she appears upset that gwen ran away from both ink5oul and [error]. she refers to [error] as "the watching figure", but thats based on gwen's description of the entity. i dont think lena actually knows about the entity (after all, its very new to the scene), she was just using gwen's description as its title for now

- "you didnt get any contact details from them?" this referring to [error], not ink5oul, further showing that lena isn't familiar with them

- gwen's behavior has convinced lena that she cant be trusted to interact with the externals and keep the situation calm. so far, she's been prone to instigating more conflict with them and has now actually harmed a civilian in the process (the man that ink5oul ripped apart).

- she claims that she doesnt want gwen to die, but her death would be simpler to manage than a dead bystander and 2 "uncontrolled" externals. here, she refers to both ink5oul and [error] as externals, despite them not working for the OIAR. this might be the tmagp-verse equivalent of avatars. she also puts emphasis on them being uncontrolled, implying that under the management of the OIAR, externals exhibit different behaviors, or are less likely to be disruptive. (im betting that externals without management are more likely to tip the balance of things)

- she doesnt seem concerned about gwen's blackmail, so either gwen doesnt have that evidence anymore, or lena doesnt think that gwen will go through with her threat

- she removes gwen from her duties as externals liaison, but allows her to still have the title, but also offere her the opportunity to quit. this is the first time quitting is brought up in this episode, still under the guise that it is possible, yet gwen denies the offer.

- references a "ministerial visit", so we'll finally be meeting lena's boss, potentially the man who colin would mention (the man who wants the OIAR to have a functional app, and colin suspects him of also supervising them)

- lena is married! (to me)

gwen:

- "i see what you're doing. you wont get rid of me that easily." she seems dead set on holding on to this position despite hating it and continuously complaining about it. i dont think she cares about the work that they do, shes moreso focused on climbing the ranks to earn respect, and not having respect from the externals or lena is deeply upsetting her

- instead of fighting harder to keep her role, gwen accepts her demotion (though she seems upset about it) and goes so far as to almost be polite to lena, "of course, mrs. kelley" after this interaction it feels like gwen might be intimidated by lena

incident:

narrated by augustus at sam's terminal

- letter from dr. berger detailing the results and descriptions of his recent experiments with the human mind and consciousness

- he was experimenting on a man with a skull deformity, which allowed him to measure pressure, cognition, and electricity shifts within the brain. he was inserting wires directly into the man's skull to take measurements

- after feedback from a fellow dr, he switched to using silver wires in the subject's skull. he measured the electrical output of the subject and received encouraging results.

- dr. berger read on the concept of the hemispherical bridge and the center of self, a collection of fibres near the middle of the grain, which can separate the left and right sphere and create differing consciousness within one body

- he inserted the silver wires directly into the subject's brain, positioned to find the hemispherical bridge.

- the subject was asked questions about himself, such as who he was and what he wants. this disrupted the normal electrical readings, though the subject seemed undisturbed.

- dr. berger experiences a dream where below him is a deep ocean full of "dark secrets", where above him flew radio signals that were "unknowable". he laments that these two things will never meet, emphasizing a separation and balance in their natures

- the dr created a new device to read the electrical signals from the subject's brain, which resulted in the telegraph mechanism clicking. each time he asked a question, the clicking would increase, though his verbal answers didn't change.

- while he was playing with the telegraph waiting for the rest of the equipment to be set up, he started asking the questions again. this time, there was a pause of silence before the clicking began again. the clicking responses increased in intensity

- his wife and assistant, ursula, dropped equipment and looked scared, asking if he could hear 'the sound'

- after this, the subject began to seize and scream in agony as the telegraph increased in intensity. the moment the subject died, the telegraph stopped

- upon reviewing the tapes and records of his experiment, discovering the ominous answers of the subjects split consciousness

- upon asking what the subject wants, it says "help, need, help out, we out" and as this response continues, augustus's narration rises in intensity.

glitches/lies:

- "its probably the horrendous porn you've been downloading." - alice, lying to sam about why his computer must be messed up

- "i can look after myself." -sam

extra comments:

- the biggest takeaway from this episode for me, is that jmj are likely conscious inside of the computer system, and are experiencing this consciousness in a disjointed and painful way. they seem to be speaking to the OIAR employees and audience with the answers to dr. berger's questions, pleading to be helped and let out.

- this statement also goes to support a small theory im working on, that most of the incidents we've heard pertain to balance and separation of self. excepting the incidents that resemble tma statements or provide character information, many of the cases we've heard revolve around forces finding balance or there being a separation of forces at play. i think this will tie in to the grand ritual that the magnus institute attempted, and how the ties to alchemy will be expressed, since finding balance seems to be the center of many operations within the tmagp universe.

- i fear that im biased, since ive kinda disliked celia from the beginning (and i do mean the very beginning, i never liked lynne hammond) but i feel like she's intentionally dragging sam into the investigation without considering if thats beneficial for him. and i dont trust her motives. i dont think this makes her evil or an unsympathetic character- shes been put into a very complicated situation where there likely isnt a simple good solution. but i dont trust her to be involving sam for any 'good' reasons, especially since we know shes hiding information from both him and the audience (im not referring to her being from a differebt universe, i mean that she knows more about the institute and alchemy than shes letting on).

- i think that the ministerial visit that lena references will be the major event in the season finale. it would make sense for there to be an incident during the visit that results in some sort of conflict (im betting that it will involve either colin interfering with the computers, an external that has poor relations with the OIAR (ink5oul, [error]), or gwen's blackmail coming to fruition)

- i also think that we may see/meet tmagp-verse jon and martin before the season ends (assuming they're alive), this would normally feel rushed, but this series has been decently fast paced in terms of revealing leads, so we may be getting a tease for that

If you ship them cool but nuh uh ✋🏽 I can’t see it don’t wanna see it. They’re so different too Gwen is a privileged white girl , you could tell by the way she had no regard for Miles’ things and ripped open his collectible. She’d probably irritate tf out of Miles G.

Some across the Spiderverse thoughts that i left in some tags and texts but wanted to make into a post - spoilers ofc!

I'm a huge fan of how heavily they leaned into superheroes as a metaphor for queerness.

I think superheroes are inherently a metaphor for queerness, even when that's not the intent, bc (to quote Ted Lasso) it's living 2 separate lives and wishing they could just melt into one.

But with movies like across the Spiderverse (and also dc's battle of the supersons but ill get to that later) they really underline the queer metaphor.

Gwen has a trans flag with the words "protect trans kids" in her room and as @/jellyfishbees pointed out in their post: also, it's interesting to read "coming out as a superhero" as a queer allegory and it works in this situation as it parallels queer kids being kicked out of their homophobic homes and staying with friends in the aftermath.

Referred to Gwen crashing at Hobie's universe (rather than place bc he's homeless) after her cop dad threatens to shoot her and arrest her even after her "coming out" as Spiderwoman.

It also felt very personal to me bc like Miles i also have a caribbean mom (not specifically puerto rican but the spanish accents/dialects in the caribbean area do have a lot in common with each other imo*) and the startup of his "coming out" (as Spiderman) + Rio's reaction felt like a mirrored version of my own coming out to my mom.

(Tho mine had a different ending rip lol).

It was also interesting to me how this homophobic tween in the audience reached my same conclusion from a different standpoint (me from a queer one, him from a homophobic one) which ik bc he said "I thought he was a f--" using the italian version of the f slur. It must mean Something if they played it in a way that even homophobes think of it as a "coming out" scene.

As I mentioned before, there's another animated superhero movie that did this.

Battle of the supersons is a movie about Jon Kent (Superman's son and one of the Superboys) and Damian Wayne (5th Robin, one of Batman's kids) becoming friends and fighting an alien invasion together.

But the story starts with Jon unaware that his dad's Superman so he freaks out when his powers awaken and we get a sort of "coming out" scene when he opens up to his dad about them.

In the comics Jon's canonly bisexual and had his own Pride Month special issue last year and the cast of the movie cracked some jokes about it at NYCC (Jon's VA had to record his scenes in a closet, etc).

And idk, i just think superheroes as a queer metaphor is all really neat :)

*unrelated but that's exactly why the "I heard Spiderman's puerto rican" *Miles freezes* "nah, I think he's dominican actually" was really funny to me. Personally im cuban but have been mistaken for puerto rican and ik puerto ricans that have been mistaken for cubans, it's really interesting from a linguistic perspective!

spider/carnage: slurpee-au

au starts out with peter as a senior undergrad (also being spider-man), cletus is older working at a butcher. he wasn't a serial killer yet until he got the carnage symbiote, which is still growing so it's not yet full-powered, just a little baby alien, he's been mostly murdering people regular serial killer style under the radar, managing to not yell out IM CLETUS KASADY while being carnage for once.

Peter and Cletus meet at a 7/11, they always go to the same one and get slurpees so they get to talking. Peter is somewhat smitten by this mysterious older guy, he's been traumatized by Gwen's death two years ago so he's hesitant about a relationship but he's trying to let it go. Peter has a fascination with crime/murder mystery stuff and is a writer as a hobby, cletus finds this totally cute. Peter asks cletus out and cletus agrees, planning on serial-killing him but figures, he might as well have some fun with him beforehand. ("I'm not gay but I'll try anything twice.")

They both totally fall for each other, they both like how the other is not high-maintience, and cletus never seems to mind when Peter is late or cancels on plans constantly. Peter's random schedule has Cletus quite intrigued, he knows his class schedule but the classes he even shows up for are seemingly completely random, and cletus wonders where he goes constantly. Peter says it's because he's chasing spider-man for photos, or whatever other excuse he has.

Red (the carnage symbiote) matures rapidly, and she LOVES peter, she's so excited to kill him in an act that will bind them all together forever- but, no need to rush it, every time Peter brushes his hand over theirs or kisses them they push their plans back a little further. Late at night when cletus is asleep and peter's still up working on schoolwork or writing, red will take over cletus's body to talk to peter about deep stuff, science, philosophy, existential stuff, while peter thinks he is talking to cletus still. Red also gets really handsy with him, noticing all the small differences in their bodies in a real tender way. Peter falls in love with the both of them without realizing it.

Of course the good times can't last forever- cletus notices peter with strange injuries lining up with the ones he JUST put on spider-man, (carnage's injuries heal much faster) not to mention how inexplicably ripped peter is. He figures out Peter is spider-man, and this makes the thrill of the hunt even greater for him.

Oh yeah and Venom is there too, venom is suspicious of cletus because he finally tracked down where his spawn went but no ones linked the murders to carnage/cletus yet, so he's just kind of hanging around, hating spider-man (eddie is still very much in his "blame spider-man for everything" stage)

Anyway, eventually the cats out of the bag, peter comes over to cletus's apartment to find him fucked up and bleeding in the bathtub after a fight with venom, with the symbiote swirling around him. Peter is shocked and horrified, at first thinking of his previous experience with symbiotes and thinks the symbiote is controlling him, but when they explain that he's not being controlled, and that they know he is spider-man, peter freaks out but cletus trys to rack up sympathy points because he's injured, he says he's broken and needs help, needs peter to help him. Then like, few days later peter gets word eddies in the hospital bc carnage went back to fuck him up after talking to peter even though he SAID he was trying to get better and all this shit and thats when peter gets righteously angry, they have a crazy breakup in-costume

After both beating the shit out of each other while screaming, carnage doesn't feel like killing peter any more.

They were together for about a year and a half before everything went to shit, and after that carnage skips town - killing has lost its fun for cletus, every time he thinks of something he said to peter, "Killing makes me feel alive," and peter responded "Don't I make you feel alive?"

Peter is super depressed, and a year passes, he doesn't go to grad school because he's so messed up. Waiting for the other shoe to drop is like torture. Cletus isn't faring much better, killing people doesn't bring him the same satisfaction and red is unhappy and misses peter as well. when he returns to new york, its to turn himself into ravencroft, though without revealing that he's carnage and that he has a symbiote. peter goes to visit him weekly, with slurpees. They talk, but cletus never tries to manipulate him or tell him that he turned himself in "for him."

Eventually cletus feels he's done enough for himself ("I got real good at mental health") and leaves Ravencroft and is prepared to leave town with Red and Peter catches him right before he leaves and they makeout after like two years of pining lol. cletus had gone to get a slurpee and peter is looking for him frantically after finding out he's missing.

whew okay, and thats pretty much the premise of the au :3 I think we retroactively changed some things later like adding in shriek but its been a long time and i've only reread so much

They get into many more shenanigans like peter almost dying and red having to bond with him to save him, peter clones, peter getting turned into man-spider and going into spider-heat which is definitely real and not made up LMAO etc

snippet for my new fic that will probably be posted soon! the title will probably be "i wouldn't love you, not in this universe or another" since this is a ghostflower fake dating au but at the end they do love each other. its inspired by everlark's romance which i love btw (when will i stop with the hunger games stuff)

“Wait, Gwen?” She really didn’t have much of a choice now. She wasn’t that rude that she would just ignore him and swing off. So instead of going back to her mission, she swung towards the window of what she assumed was Miles’ room. She didn’t take off her mask, she just sat on the windowsill and waited for Miles to say something.

Both didn’t speak, she should’ve just swung off. That would’ve been less awkward (but probably a lot more rude). “What are you doing here?” Miles asked, breaking the long, awkward silence between the two. Gwen decided to make it clear that she wasn’t here to see him, she had somewhere to be. “I’m on a mission.”

“For who?”

God, he had a lot of questions, but of course he would, she thought. “Miguel O’hara, he leads a society full of spider-people that are trying to keep the multiverse from collapsing.” Gwen was being straight-forward with this. “Look, I really shouldn’t–”

“Wait, wait, wait, you can travel the multiverse now?”

“It’s not like I’m allowed to go anywhere I want to.” That came out pretty harsh, Gwen doesn’t know if she regrets her use of tone or not. She took off her mask, revealing the fact that her hair had grown out again after Miles ripped half of it out, the tips were dyed a light shade of pink too.

Gwen saw that Miles noticed her hair. Growing out her hair wasn’t just because she wanted to move on from Miles, it was also because it brought back memories of home. She wanted to completely forget everything about her home dimension.

“How have the others been?”

“Alright, I guess. I don’t see them often.” Gwen knew she couldn’t keep talking to Miles, she had to stay focussed.

“I really have to go, I’m sorry.”

“No, it’s fine. I’m grounded anyway.” Gwen doesn’t reply, she just turns around, ready to leave (and never come back). She just wants this mission to be over. She had one more thing left to say though.

“I’m sorry for not saying it clearly before, but I don’t think I can have new friends yet. You and I were just on a mission to get me and the others together. We’re allies, not friends.”

She’s lying, she has made new friends.

Gwen noticed the slight hurt look in his eyes, but it confuses her a bit. They weren’t close at all, why was he hurt? She should leave now before she makes things worse. She slipped her mask back on before shooting a web and swinging away, leaving Miles behind again.

this chapter will probably end with them finding miles in earth-42 and proposing, this chapter is mainly changing stuff from the canon storyline so it fits this au better. this part might be changed/stuff might get added so im sorry if this looks different then to how it will look in once its posted on ao3.

also, let me know if this is too ooc. its really hard to write them in a way they aren't friends since that means changing so much from canon and my main reference is hunger games, but i hope its good.

LATE NIGHT THOUGHTS WITH MISSY!!!1!1!1!1!1!

this is about atsv and just the spiderverse in general cause I just love it sm BUT ANYWAYS!!!!!

has anyone ever realized just how like CREEPY the concept of the spiderverse is? like if I was in a room where it was different versions of me, who have lived different lives and made different decisions along with its consequences, I’d be freaking tf out 😭😭😭 especially when miguel brings up the canon event theory and how in the end spiderman looses SOMEONE. it’s like the spiderperson is bound to suffer no matter what they do just because they got bit by a spider.

also what got me thinking about this and how existential it is was when in the comics of the spiderverse (idk which it was but I kinda remember what happened) pavitr was talking to another spiderman about how they’re all different variations of one person and aren’t completely unique or original. he even thought he didn’t do enough as spiderman and just felt like he wasn’t achieving as much as the others. which leads me to my other point as to how overwhelming it can be to be a spiderperson. like not only is it kinda unnerving knowing that there’s another you somewhere in the universe and also along with the fact that ur made for suffering, but there’s different spidermen and women who have probably done more than you and it just leave you like “oh wow im pretty fucking bad at this lol!”

and then along with atsv, it’s even creepier when you think that maybe, before miles, there were other spiderpeople who were against Miguel’s canon event theory. his theory barely makes sense but it also does??? but how can you even begin to use logic on the multiverse, which (in the wise words of dr strange) “we know terrifyingly little of.” like ik that Miguel’s universe is way more advanced than the others, but again the universe is constantly changing and expanding, which can cause new ways and concepts that we probably won’t be able to figure out for years. and what ended up happening to those spiderpeople who were against him?

ALSOOOO let’s talk about Pavitr’s dimension because JESUS CHRIST???? ITS LITERALLY GETTING SUCKED IN BY A BLACK HOLE (LIKE HOW OETER WARNED IN THE FIRST MOVIE) AND NOBODY IS WORRIED??? ALSO UHH CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE FACT THAT IN HIS EARTH’S ALCHEMAX, THEY WERE BUILDING A FUCKING COLLIDERRRRRRR?!(&3@2@2 LIKE WHO AUTHORIZED THAT?? was it mfin KINGPIN or did scientists feel a little silly and decided to build a whole ass machine that can create a rip in the fabric of space. AND THE FACT THAT IT ALSO WORKED TOO BRO…. LIKE UHMMM???

and then what’s gonna happen to pavitrs dimension bro 🤨 because I’m sure we’ve all seen that one picture from one of the artists giving a whole visual set to how the spiderverse net thing works. dimensions aren’t completely gone, but rather disconnected…. so what about gabi’s too 😭😭 it literally said that it was just snapped off, and spiders can always weave their webs back together. in the image we also show how pavitr’s isn’t completely unattached, but holding on by a few threads. would they end up finding a way to fix it???

also I’ve had this unrealistic theory lmao where they travel back in time and the entire story just resets!!!! it’s silly but tbh since we know time traveling is possible since Hobie’s universe is based in the 70s? im pretty sure AND GWEN TIME TRAVELED A WEEK WHEN SHE FIRST WENT TO MILES DIMENSION BRO. like maybe the way to fix things is if the collider never happened, because that was the root of the entire problem, right? idk man but it’s just there’s so many possibilities and i cannot fucking wait 😭😭😭

Genuinely bamboozled as to why and how allllllll the other OC ships are able to get a happy ending together or leave the show with a good ending for the other half of the ship except upstead. After the main OC account changed their account to stellaride and the promo which seems to include a new clip of them together im just so frustrated that Jesse and Tracy get left with the worst storyline for their show. And it’s all stemming from the show runner who gave some of the best scenes to them yet single-handedly ripped them away. I get it’s a drama but come on there were a million other ways Jesse could have left and the drama could have continued, it is a show revolving a team not just two people but proving my point Jesse and Tracy/ Hailey and Jay being in the viewers but no let’s rip them apart in the most mind boggling out of character way possible for funsies

Totally and completely not fair to Jesse and Tracy and the hard work and effort they put into making their relationship come to life as well as the fans who tune into the show to watch their story unfold.

Sorry for the rant but at this point it is just completely unfair how the so called yacht of PD is being dismantled for no good reason at all. Holding onto Jesse’s trust the process and Tracy’s doll pic wording and her hashtag for dear life because I refuse to believe this is how their story ends

Your frustration is felt, I think many Upstead fans feel the same way. I really wish things had gone down differently and handled very differently. I always say I'd love to have an interview with Gwen, one where real questions could be asked and answered. I'd love to pick apart her and some of the writer's minds on how they made the creative decisions they made and why. I'd also love to hear what J and T have to say about it, but they are too professional and respect the cast and crew too much to probably say anything that would paint it in a negative light (which is completely understandable.)

And this is good timing because we got another photo of mini Halstead and maaaaaan, I am *trusting the process* because Tracy is REALLY getting into it.

Total Drama Next Generation Trailers Thoughts

So, 3 trailers were released for the new season. You probably want my thoughts on them. I will be honest, I don’t have too much to say. And I especially don’t have any predictions for elimination orders yet. Since these trailers came out, everyone’s saying Caleb is the first boot because of a lack of footage of him… No. From the posters, no. This is a red herring. At least I hope so, if you saw from my thoughts post on the posters, you know that I think Caleb is gonna be a bigger character. (A ‘reserve Justin’ in that he is a good guy but is only judged by looks, which he doesn’t want, kind of character. But I could be wrong)

Same goes for Axel, who is also not in these trailers very much.

But my argument is that unless you’re The Masked Singer and you waste money for good costumes to only be in one episode just because, WHY would you put so much detail into a character design that won’t be featured?

This is like if Gwen was the first boot in Island.

Caleb and Axel are barely in the trailers because their roles are spoiler heavy. Simple as that.

If they ARE early boots, I won’t be happy because they have potential we saw from the posters.

ANYWAY, this first trailer is only fifteen seconds and a different language. So here are parts I find interesting.

Oh, so THAT’S why he’s called Ripper.

Maybe he hates how his bookworm dad wears three shirts all the time.

We also have the team shots briefly.

We also have Ripper without his shirt in this shot, which means the shirt ripping scene takes place before this.

This might be like the first episode of TDI, where we get introduced to characters one by one as they arrive at the docks.

Also a detail I noticed about TDI is the characters holding the posters.

Owen held the green poster, and he was the winner.

Harold held the red poster, and he was the last character eliminated before the merge.

Does this foreshadow Em and Zee’s fates?

I’m probably reading to much into this.

Also CHEF’S REDESIGN. CHEFS KISS. Im so happy for him.

This is Trailer 2, which is the same length, but in English this time.

So this is a challenge. Which episode it is, I do not know. But we can tell this is a pirate fight with cabbage as cannonballs. We have multiple shots of this such as:

Zee is driving.

He’s clearly not good at it.

This makes me think he’s gonna be Diet Harold.

Is this that pancake challenge from All Stars?

Also Ripper has been the slapstick character a lot in these trailers. Idk if these are the only scenes where he’s the slapstick or not.

I did not expect this of his character, as from the posters I thought he was gonna be the dry cynical ‘Meh’ attitude. That could still be the case, and it’s why he’s the slapstick, (because kids find cynical characters boring, we gotta dumb our dark humor down so kids don’t get grossed out.)

Seriously, Total Drama is Shrek in TV format.

TELL ME I’M WRONG.

There’s also voice acting here. I LOVE Quinn’s voice. (I know her name is Scary Girl. I’m calling her Quinn.)

Whether or not this is the same episode, I do not know. Either this is a treasure hunting part, or it’s a different episode.

Everyone also looks so non-chalant of Quinn’s antics here. I thought they’d put ‘Scary Girl’ into a big deal, but no. They treat her normally.

Actually, I’m on board with that. Maybe that’s all Quinn wants, to be treated normally when she’s being herself. There could be more character depth with her than we thought. Also, Axel is not with her team here!

I WONDER WHERE SHE IS.

Is she an early boot?

OR IS SHE JUST SOMEWHERE ELSE?!

Yeah this is why I’m not calling Fresh TV bad marketers yet. You don’t know if they are early boots yet.

Wait for the episode to come out, see the spoiler there, and THEN complain. Okay?

Also IS THAT SHAWN?!

Probably not, but that is DARK.

These other zombies look like Akali from League of Legends and a recolored Plants Vs Zombies.

This image is actually from Trailer 3, which is next. And it’s thirty seconds.

They have their phones confirmed. Also questioning Wayne and Ram’s relationship.

We also get to hear Julia and Nichelle’s voice acting. They both sound neat. Julia’s voice is a little hollow for me, but Nichelle’s is perfect. This is exactly how I imagine she’d sound like.

They both also point out that Julia and Nichelle are already famous. In that case, why are they competing if they already have fame? What do they gain from it?

There’s also a lot you can interpret from Nichelle’s “I’m famous. I have no idea who she is.”

Either she is actually famous and Julia is an arrogant wannabe. Or Julia looks up to Nichelle.

Or they’re both full of it. Either way, I’m sensing a bit of Heather from these two. But then again, for some reason, post WT Total Drama HATES Heather even though she’s the best and most important character in the franchise. So I think if Julia or Nichelle ARE villains, they’re getting redemption arcs. But if they ARE the new Heather, I will like that. TD has really gone off the rails with their villains since Heather and we NEED something more human.

Yes you could argue Scott, but that’s All Stars. And you could argue the Ice Dancers, but I was never intimidated by them nor did they make my blood boil. They’re just kinda petty cheaters and sometimes stupid.

But getting back on topic, I do like the idea of some characters being after fame specifically You know, THE SPOTLIGHT, THE GLORY, that most teenagers strive for.

A very HUMAN motive that has NOT been relevant to ANY character since Alejandro’s motive in WT.

I MISSED THAT.

Yes I know fame isn’t gonna be a motive for every character, but it’s been the driving force of most of the OG cast members playing the game that it’s hard to imagine anyone doing these games without that motive. This was a pretty big deal in Island and Action, so it was jarring to suddenly lose that motive.

Leshawna, you have competition.

Okay, NOW I see the hype around Quinn.

I have… no idea what’s happening here. So Priya is… trying to be friends with Chase, and is saying it aggressively for some reason?

I’ve heard rumors about her backstory, so maybe Priya is well meaning, she just doesn’t know how to talk to people.

Either this is a fight. Or this is about Caleb like we saw in the posters. Or, what I’m getting at…

Priya and Chase are gonna be a romantic pairing.

Chase and Priya are both so blandly designed that it’s hard for me to see them not being early boots, BUT IF THEY ARE STAYING, I think these two are gonna be the Gwen and Trent of this generation.

And hopefully Chase is more interesting than Trent. (Not sorry)

Also Millie’s here…

Everyone’s saying she’s gonna win. Even I said that was possible. But she’s BARELY been in these trailers.

But this could be a Caleb/Axel situation where she’s just having spoiler heavy moments. In fact, HALF of these characters are barely in the trailers. I don’t know why people are saying these are spoiler heavy.

Speaking of: I know what you’re thinking. “Oh come the f on, they spoiled the elimination ceremony?”

Well… we DON’T know this yet.

I don’t think this is actually an elimination ceremony. I think this is that zombie challenge, and it’s a team meeting. Kind of like in the slasher episode in TDI.

And they’re staring at MK cause she knows something.

Caleb isn’t there because he’s probably captured.

That might also be what Axel is doing in the shed in that one clip.

It might be like the TDI slasher challenge where campers get picked off one by one.

I think Axel is gonna be the Gwen of her team, where she’s more focused on herself. But she wins challenges for her team so she flies under the radar of elimination. But if she’s also the Duncan of the team in this challenge, she’s gonna be awesome.

ANNNND the big thing everyone was waiting for:

What do I think of Chris’ new voice?

EVERYONE I know, and everyone I’ve seen online, HATES this voice.

…I don’t get the hate.

I think the voice is fine, if a little off sounding, but as long as this new VA captures Chris’s ego, I don’t care.

I think nostalgia is blinding people here.

Until I hear the VA in a full episode, I am not jumping on the hate train.

Why Chris’s original VA didn’t come back, I do not know. But there are a lot of reasons for why VAs don’t show up again. TD has kinda been bankrupt in the water for quite a few years now. Sure we had Ridonculous Race, which was decent, but nobody watched that or talked about that.

These are… rough trailers. But I feel legally required to watch this season regardless. So I’ll give more takes when it comes.

a roar ripped through the air, then a clash. Miguel on the floor looking at Hesper in shock, shocked that they tackled him. they looked murderous. "Who the fuck do you think you are!" their yell rang out through the hq. "what gives you the fucking right to decide some ones fate!" they screamed. miles looked at his best friend in shock, he never saw them this angry. Miguel's face scowled as he stood up. "I'm making sure that the multiverse doesn't clasp because of him. he is ruining things." Miguel said glaring at Hesper. "that's fucking bull shit. miles has done nothing wrong you just don't like things out of your control." they said. their teeth hurt from gritting them so hard. Miguel and Hesper kept arguing back and forth. "he doesn't belong here!" he yelled "yes he does he is the best spiderman I know he works hard and twice the spider man you are!" they yelled. "he's a anomaly that spider that bit him shouldn't have!" Miguel yelled "so what !" they yelled. "a universe doesn't have a spider man do to him!" Miguel said pointing to miles. "its not miles fault. he wasn't the one the fucking built the collider! he wasn't the one fucking with the multiverse it was king pen!!" they yelled at Miguel. miles was worried for Hesper they were yelling so much that he wonder why their throat wasn't totaled with all the yelling. Miguel went quiet at that before arguing back, "he created the spot!" he yelled. "how the fuck was he supposed to know what would happen!! your blaming him for king pens mistake, your blaming him for doc ocks mistake." they gritted out.

they stared at each other. Hesper looking ready to throw down. Miguel looking at them as they were just a dumb child. "miles go now stop the spot save your dad. ill keep this dick busy" Hesper said cracking their neck and knuckles. "no he will not" Miguel said looking ready to chase if miles if he did run. everything was tense for a moment like a taunt rubber band. soon it snapped. miles bolted to the go home portal. Miguel lunged to stop him but was tackled. "go miles run ill find you once im done!" Hesper yelled. "I hold you to that!!" miles yelled back. the spider people didn't know what to do, so they stayed and watched the fight infront of them break out. it was bloody. they both weren't holding back. Hesper wasn't holding back from the punch and kicks and Miguel was digging his claws into any skin he could get. "i wont let you hurt miles like you hurt me! i wont let you take his family like you took mine!" they yelled punching Miguel in the eye. wincing as he clawed their face. peter was watching in horror. "kid stop!! your doing to much!" peter yelled shielding maydays eyes. "Stay out of this you knew what was going to happen!! you and Gwen both did and you didn't tell him!" they yelled dodging a swipe from Miguel. "your letting your heart cloud your mind. his actions will cause a universe to clasp!" miguel yelled.

hesper ripped out their mask. "stop acting like your some fucking higher being your not!! you shouldn't be messing with any universe at all!" they yelled breathing heavily. blood seeping from the cuts on their face. they would be added to the scars they already have on their face. "so youd selfishly let him kill multiple people just to save his father!" miguel yelled. "hes not killing anyone!! he is different from you!" they yelled "he'll save his father and nothing will clasp and he will have proved your wrong. " they said. "you just want him to prove me wrong so you can justify your anger because of their deaths. " miguel said seething at them. "you think im trying to make this about me? no im makig this about the multiple people you let pass just to save millions. every life matter. but people also die, it is nature." they said their muslce burning as they pushed their body forward. "your so selfish" miguel said. "if being selfish is me wanting to keep the people i love safe and happy then yes i am" they said. "lyla!" miguel called out. and the holagram lady appeared. "tell me whats happening." he said panting as he stood. hespers body started to slump but was caught by hobie. "thank you hobie" they said panting. "cmon on lets get you to med bay." he said leading them away. "no i canrt miguel..." they started. "will do nothing hes being proved wrong like you said" hobie said. as they entered the med bay and hesper was laid down. their anderline ran out and they fainted.

hesper groaned sitting up and craddling their head. they turned their looking at a mirror. "well shit" they laughed dryly. they slash on their face that miguel left had fully healed. but it left scars, their long lines. starting from the left of the top corner of their head to the right corner of their mouth. gwen walked in and sat beside them. "... you were right. miles was able to save his dad and no universe clasped." she said. "great" hesper said standing "what what are you doing?!" she yelled fretting over hesper. "going to see miles i promised him" they said walking out the med bay. "but you just woke up, you need rest. " gwen start following hesper. "and i will when i see miles." they said typing in miles earth into the bracelet making a portal open. "also your a teenage, theirs a thing called rebellion, you could have seen miles but know you didnt. " hesper said before walking into the portal. after it closed gwen was left standing their alone. "their right you know. you could have went to see 'em but you didnt because you wanted to follow miguel but look what happen. they took your spot." hobie said standing beside gwen.

hesper exited the portal and looked around miles room before they were talked in a hug. "woah" they yelped as both of them fell to the ground. "two days you were out for two days!!" miles cried. "hey hey im here im here im alright" they said hugging him. as he cried into their shoulder. "come on" they said leading miles to stand. they wiped his tears away. "your too good looking to cry. " they said smiling softly. miles let out wet chuckles as hesper said that. "so your dads safe and the spots been defeated." hesper asked as they led miles to his bed and made him sit. "yes. i was able to talk to him and talk things out." miles said wiping away his tears. "also i told my parents that i was spider man" he said sniffling. "good on ya miles" hesper said smiling "now things can be easier and communication can be better, now they know" hesper said. "yeah but im still grounded." miles said grumbling. "well no duh you told your mom what ever, and you gotta b in spanish, your ma not letting that go" hesper chuckled out before sighing. "love your parents miles, love them a lot and close." hesper said smiling softly resting their hand on his shoulder.
