Hi! So, I love your game, but I have a big "issue"...

I still don't know if I should go for Salvatore of Ciocana, to be fair...

I love both characters equally, and both are tropes I love in different way - with Salvatore, it would be a golden child + outcast story, while with Ciocana it would be the idea of two outcast finding solace in each other. I adore both of these!

And so I'm curious... do you have a sort of... "general mood" or "few descriptive words" you could share about each RO's path without spoiling too much? Maybe it would help me decide!

And yeah, "replays" is sadly not a possibility for me, since I'm the kind of person who in 99% of games can't play multiple routes and try various romances - I feel like betraying and cheating on the first RO I've picked and other similar feelings. So I have to make the choice count!

Your ask has inspired me to create a kind of "Which RO is for you?" Quiz, but I'm making it in interactive novel format, as I want to customize the results and questions better!

A preview! The design is not at all final, and the screenshot only shows one part of one RO's result. Ideally, it'll cover not just personalities, but also what tropes you enjoy and generally account for what you're looking for in a particular route! You'll also see multiple results if you want to see how you fare with multiple ROs, and what I recommend most out of all of them. I hope you'll like it ❤️

(This has been really fun for me and only takes a fraction of my brainpower to write, so rest assured that I'm allocating leisure time to this project!)

But for now, I'll answer your specific request under the read more!!

The tone and dynamics of Sal and Cio's route might differ dramatically based on how you play the story, so it's hard to pin down. All routes will be incredibly angsty, but it depends on if you take the Divine route (siding with gods) and Mortal route (siding with mortals). There may also be an in between route.

I use these terms loosely as I do not want to lock in the MC to one or the other, as doubting your beliefs and changing your mind should be part of the story! Alas, who knows if I can do that!

Sal, Divine route: sand through your fingers, broken clock, desperation and longing, comfort at the end of time

Sal, Mortal route: betrayal, searing sun, melting candle, you were supposed to be with me, redemption

Cio, Divine route: shadows of a doubt, giving up, darkness of the void, peace, coiling bitterness in your stomach

Cio, Mortal route: sacrifice, leave them, ichor in your veins, broken promise, gaping chasm, fallen angel

Hi Anon! Here's what I have for the questions so far, but they're subject to change:

Picking what ROs you want (you'll only get results from whoever you pick)

Picking your outward personality (what you seem like on the surface)

If you think your MC is a good person or not

What you think of gods and mortals

Whether you want someone who's similar to you

Whether you want someone who can challenge you

What tropes you're interested in

How angsty you want the route to be

Those are ones I'm sure will be in the quiz permanently, but there are other questions, such as if you think the Universe loves you, your relationship with your parents, and if you have strong opinions or not that I'm not sure will make the final cut, as I'm still figuring out how relevant they are to the results.

Really, I probably should have waited a day to publish this in August, but it’s close enough. 😊 TFS: Book Two is progressing very well.

I recently surpassed a word count milestone while working on some RO branches! Each character is getting special attention. The words keep stacking up every day, fueled by your support and encouragement, as I work away at the outline. This book should be over 1 million words.

You all will be meeting some new characters in Book Two, although deepening the bonds/relationships with the Fernweh Gang is the main focus. There are also a lot of scenes with A. Corvin and more encounters with Ms. Verner, Marjorie, Milton, and even Officer Warren. It’s been so much fun working on the character dynamics and writing MC choices. 📚

Hey Martyn! So, I got into your lore because of Grian's Life Series, and now I'm just trying to find some stuff out. Anyways, I understand most of it, though I do have a couple questions.

What actually are LOOT shards/crystals? I know that they're soke aort of corruption in games of sorta, but how do they get there, how to they affect the game, and also how to disable them. It's just something I'm wondering about since I know you have to find the one piece, of treasure, but how does it actually help?

What are CHEST agents? I know that they're something almost as evil as Cruppy, which is really saying something, but what actually are they?

Are there any extra lore bits in Rats SMP that you can't get anywhere else? I just wanna know if I should grit my teeth and watch it sometime, when I'm done catching up on the VODs of Pirates (can't make it to streams for personal reasons, alas).

If you've come up with it, is there any way that the Watchers lore from the Life Series ties into the datastream hopper lore? Those two just seem a little incompatible to me - hopping the datastream, being captured by mysterious godlike entities... Or are they just two separate universes?

Do you plan on posting the New Life streams on your vods channel?

Who in Pirates is p!Martyn closest to in each faction, overall?

Also, I think you may have mentioned it on stream, but did you take the faction quiz and if so, which faction did you get? I kid you not, when I took it I got Kestrels all three times (with changing the answers to stuff that I would still do, but different than first time, I mean). Had to change it up just to see all the different faction descriptions...

2. C.H.E.S.T agents work are avatars controlled by human operators working for C.H.E.S.T and its evil underbelly. They're a known and trusted public computing corporation but the public doesn't know the full extent of their goals and resources

4. Maaaaaaybe, people have noticed some parallels / links and all shall be revealed one day for sure, even if I'm like gonna quit doing videos and streaming, I'd just lore dump whatever isn't revealed so it's out there ha

A lot of my New Life streams are me just doing the grindy parts of the SMP and with the server being somewhat inactive I want to save the crossover / collab content for the videos - I'm not sure people would flock to a 3 hour vod of me painfully and slowly building an outpost or hollowing out a mountain to make a factory ya know?

6. Kestrels - probably Sausage, with Oli as a close second. Herons - Owen or Water. Owen has an inquisitive gene like Martyn and Water likes all things musical. Nightingales - Ros is so different to Martyn that it makes for some wholesome and chaotic interations, you never know which you'll get. Kites - Bek is basically the only one he's interacted with, he had a little banter on the seas with Kuervo but it was brief
