Why I Love Hanamusa
I get this question very frequently but have never given a really in depth, definitive answer. All just kinda implied through my comics and spread out asks. So here's this I guess! Long post ahead:
Tumblr media
First, as a Pokémon fan in her mid 20s, I love seeing a ship where the characters are both in their mid/late 20s. Already, they’re much more relatable to me and my current experiences. Most Pokémon ships are between preteens, which can be cute but ultimately don’t interest me as much as they used to when I was a kid myself. Not enough to get super invested in and draw a lot of fanart for anyways haha.
I’ll also start by saying that canon doesn’t always influence whether or not I’ll ship something. I’m much more drawn to potential. Could the characters work together? Do their personalities work together in a nice way? I feel like this so much of fanon is anyways. Especially with queer relationships because they’re rarely depicted in the first place. A lot of the context for these ships is usually up to the fans to piece together or make up in general. And that’s the fun part to me!
Jessie and Delia have only met in the anime a handful of times. Any interaction they’ve had has either been pleasant, or just a typical Team Rocket interaction, with Delia dismissing them/not seeing them as a threat. Already a great jumping off point for me since, truly, they don’t have any actual beef or true, ill feelings towards each other. It’s not TOO out of the realm of possibility for them to potentially fall for each other. “But Jessie chased Delia’s son around trying to steal his Pokémon!” That’s where that dismissive and aloof attitude that Delia has comes into play. I’ll go more into Delia’s whole deal a bit later but I do think this aspect of her personality is a large reason why this ship can work. It’s not that she doesn’t care that Jessie has a bad past, but she can tell that, on the inside, Jessie’s a good person. And, in a scenario where Jessie is trying to become a better person, is forgiving enough to give her a shot. I feel like this is such a solid foundation for a ship. A character who has done wrong but is trying to be better and another character who is willing to help them be better. A classic dynamic!
It’s not just one-sided though; where Jessie is the only one benefitting and learning from the relationship. I believe Delia could get a lot out of being with someone like Jessie. To understand why, I think it’s important to know these characters’ respective backstories.
Jessie is an orphan/foster child who grew up in poverty. Her mother Miyamoto (from The Birth of Mewtwo) was a Team Rocket operative herself, who went on a mission to find Mew. In order to do this, she had to leave Jessie when she was just a toddler. Unfortunately, Miyamoto went MIA on her mission leaving Jessie to more or less fend for herself. Jessie went through life with zero stability, evident by her MANY different careers and constant moving around. It’s implied in the show that she went from foster home to foster home, and later in life tried being an idol, weather girl, florist, wine connoisseur, actress, most notably a nurse and finally a Team Rocket field agent. And even while in Team Rocket, she, James and Meowth were always doing odd jobs to get by. We see that Jessie used to be a sweet kid, and even adult, but the world and her circumstances repeatedly did her dirty, leading her to become the character we know today. Hot tempered, mean, selfish, etc. But despite this, her soft side does still shine through for the people and Pokémon she cares about. She is incredibly loyal.
Delia, unbeknownst to a lot of fans, also had a rough past (see Pocket Monsters: The Animation). Like Jessie, she had a lot of dreams and aspirations like wanting to be a model and even a trainer. But when she was 10, her mother didn’t let her, telling her that she had to stay home and learn to run the family restaurant (she’s an only child). Delia’s father left her and her mother to be a trainer, and never returned. When she was 18, she married Ash’s father and became pregnant shortly after. But right after Ash was born, he also set off to be a Pokémon trainer. And soon after that, her mother passed away, leaving Delia with just the restaurant and baby Ash. This gives so much context to Delia’s attitude in the show. We see that Delia is pained whenever Ash leaves on a journey, but she never shows that pain to anyone. ESPECIALLY Ash. She’s very quick to shoo him off when he shows any sign of wanting to go on another journey and even when he returns home, she acts more excited to see Pikachu than him almost every time. Without all this backstory, it’s easy to just read this as a funny gag, BUT with context, I think it really shows how quickly Delia shuts down and detaches in order to not confront her own feelings. She’s afraid of losing people and getting hurt again.
All that said, I think Jessie and Delia provide each other with EXACTLY what the other needs.
Aside from becoming rich and famous, Jessie’s biggest aspiration is to get married. In my opinion, this is more so an underlying want for love and stability. There is no one more stable in the show than Delia. Delia’s lived in Pallet her whole life, she’s worked at the same restaurant since she was young and she is always there when Ash comes back home. She has all the love, patience and stability Jessie needs and craves. While forgiving, Delia’s not stupid and can keep Jessie in check. Delia’s also just an angel, which I feel, would make Jessie want to be better. And on top of all this, on more of a surface level, Delia’s a chef and excellent cook. She shows love through cooking and Jessie, who grew up poor, regularly starving and eating snow, happily receives that love. Jessie’s able to live a happy and healthy life with someone like Delia.
Delia, as stated, is very stable. Likely pretty monotonous and solitary, especially living in such a small town like Pallet. This isn’t a bad thing but it’s a little sad when you consider that Delia also had dreams of traveling, being a model and a trainer. She had to give up so many dreams in order to fulfill her duties as a restaurant owner and mother. And even now, when Ash is off on his journey, she feels the need to always be home and be that stable pillar, leaving behind any ambitions she had, thinking it’s too late for her (she’s only 29 btw). But then along comes Jessie, dangerous, passionate, an absolute firecracker. Someone who’s whole life has been about chasing dreams and either, never giving up on them or finding a new dream to chase. Upon learning about Delia’s past aspirations, I could see Jessie pushing her towards them, letting her know that life’s too short and she has nothing to lose from trying. On top of this, Jessie’s also loyal. She, James and Meowth are depicted as doing anything for anyone who gives them food or shows them kindness. Delia does both so there’s no way Jessie would leave her. This fulfills an essential need for Delia, who is afraid of the people in her life leaving her.
There’s so much potential for mutual growth and learning between these two and I adore that. They compliment each other, they help each other and they bring out the best qualities in one another.
I’m not really sure how to end this and I could truly talk about them even more but I don’t want this to be tooooo long haha. OH I could end it with maybe the most funny aspect of this ship that I've brushed over and also what drew me to it in the first place. Jessie. As Ash’s stepmom. THE END.

Profiles in Villainy
The Team Rocket Trio
Team Rocket (also known as the Rocket Gang) is a villainous organization that endeavors to capture, experiment upon and exploit Pokémon for the purposes of gaining power and wealth.  The operation is based in the Kanto and Johto regions and is run by its vile and scheming overboss, Giovanni.
The Team Rocket Trio, consisting Jessie, James and the talking Pokémon Meowth, are agents of the Rocket Gang tasked with abducting a particularly powerful Pikachu from the young Pokémon trainer, Ask Ketchum.
Although clever, resourceful and creative, the threesome have never been able to capture Pikachu, usually due to mishaps, bumbling and just plain lousy luck. Not that it had deterred them as the three continue to come up with complicated (often harebrained) schemes to get their hands on Pikachu.
Jessie sees herself as the leader of the squad.  She is a vain and ambitious young woman.  Her mother had also been a member of the Rocket Game, but was lost during a mission resulting Jessie having to live in foster care for much of her childhood.  She sublimated her feelings of loss and deprivation into a drive to win and at any and all costs.  Although she often acts haughty and conceded, Jessie harbors a great deal of sadness and insecurity.  She is a shrewd tactician and demanding leader.
James is Jessie’s partner and best friend.  He came from a wealthy family where his every action and activity was controlled by his overbearing parents and governesses.  He was betrothed at a young age to the daughter of another wealthy family and was planning on marrying her until he saw that she was just as mean and controlling as his parents.  As such, he ran away, leaving behind everything and joining a criminal bicycle gang in Sunnytown.
Sometime thereafter, James was recruited into the Rocket Gang and partnered with Jessie.  Although the two came from very different backgrounds, the pair got along extremely well.  James is a master of disguise; his soft features and lithe frame enables him to disguise himself as a girl in a very convincing fashion.
Meowth, meanwhile, is an especially clever Pokémon who taught himself to speak because a Persian he was in love with appeared to prefer the company of humans.  Meowth had previously been the personal assistant to Giovanni yet his recurrent clumsiness resulted in his being demoted and reassigned as a partner to Jessie and James.
Meowth is far and away the smartest member of the trio.  In that he is a Pokémon, however, Jessie and James rarely pay heed to his warnings regarding how a plan is sure to go awry.
The nefarious intentions of the Rocket Gang notwithstanding, The Team Rocket Trio are not truly villainous souls; they have even often showed moments of honor and compassion.  The three just want to be valued and feel like they belong and they do not share the malevolent attitudes of Giovanni.
Actresses Akiko Hiramatsu and Megumi Hayashibara provided the voice for Jessie in the anime series (with Rachael Lillis and Michele Knotz voicing the character in the English dub); whereas actor Shin-ichiro Miki voices James in the anime (with Ted Lewis and Carter Cathcart voicing the character in the English dub); and Inuko Inuyama voices Meowth (with Nathan Price and Maddie Blaustein voicing the character in the English dub).
Team Rocket first appeared in the second episode of the original Pokémon anime, airing on April 8th, 1997.

🥀Fankidtober 2023 day 2 : Judith 🥀
For the second day I wanted to draw Jessie and James' little girl, Judith, she is Jamie's younger sister.
She works on the Team Rocket along with the younger agents who are led by the son of the boss, Platinum, with the latter there are five on the team.
She has a fairly strong girl, somewhat similar to that of her mother. Jamie and her are in constant discussions since they took different paths.
Her pokemon is a Wynaut, son of Jessie's Wobuffet.

What the fuck is Team Rocket’s position in the force? By Team Rocket here I specifically mean Meowth’s unit comprising of himself, Jessie, and James (yes he is their direct superior).
In their debut episode ‘Pokémon Emergency’ they seem to be elite mooks at the lowest. They’re actually very competent, taking over an entire Pokémon center in a major city by themselves, and Meowth is actually called Giovanni’s personal favourite. It’s even possible that their white outfits denote something like admin status in comparison to normal grunts.
After Pikachu takes them out the first time though, it’s all downhill. At first Giovanni assumes ash’s Pikachu is some kind of super Pokémon considering it defeated his top agents, and so sends team rocket on the mission to capture the darn rat. But then it just keeps happening. After a while he gets tired of it and decides to finally replace Meowth with a Persian as his personal lap Pokémon. By the end of the Indigo League Saga, even high ranking grunts like Butch and Cassidy seem to outrank them.
Odd thing is, they keep being sent on very high level missions. My favorite example of this is in the Unova Saga where they were literally sent there to set up a new branch of Team Rocket in the region. And for some bizarre reason up until recently they’ve still been chasing after Pikachu. Now what are our options here to explain this?
Option A: Team Rocket gets special treatment for background reasons.
There’s a bit of evidence for this one. Obviously we have Meowth who as far as Giovanni’s concerned is the only Pokémon that can talk and isn’t a literal god. Then we have James who is revealed pretty early on to be from a highly wealthy family, Giovanni probably knows this and even though James has no connection to the family’s wealth he’d probably figure out that they want James back to marry him off. Keeping James around as a bargaining chip when times get rough seems like a solid option. Meanwhile you have Jessie. Not gonna lie I’m kinda stumped with her. She doesn’t seem particularly skilled nor is her family rich in any capacity, girl literally had to eat snow for crying out loud. Maybe Meowth or James just liked her enough for Giovanni to put her on the team??
Option B: They serve as an example.
While they’re technically still high ranking, Giovanni keeps them around to send a message more than anything. At this point Giovanni 100% knows they cannot beat that stupid ass mouse and yet still makes them do it on the weekly. Why? To effectively torture them. Almost every episode they are nearly killed and humiliated. Why? To show other grunts what happens when you fail him. There are holes in this theory though, like how Team Rocket are still occasionally sent on genuine high value missions sometimes.
Option C: They didn’t actually get demoted that far/ actually got promoted
Sure Meowth lost his favourite status (which is debatable anyway) but aside from that and the taunting from Butch and Cassidy there aren’t many other signs that their rank is any lower now. It’s very possible Giovanni recognises their impressive skill in mechanics and disguises and simply doesn’t hire them for Pokémon capturing jobs anymore, and now Meowth and Co are really just doing it for the sport while their real job is covert operations such as the one in Unova. All the movies? They’re reporting all those legendary sightings to Giovanni ASAP. This is the funniest one and my personal favourite explanation.
These are just my ideas but what are yours? Please tell me I need to knoww.

Someone might have said this before but idea as to why Jessie, James, and Meowth are still with Team Rocket despite having been demoted from Top Agents to kitchen staff by the end of the series: Ash is Giovanni's biological kid. They keep attacking him because they are basically overglorified nannies trying to keep the boss's kid in shape just in case Giovanni wants to make Ash his successor as a failsafe. Then comes Unova and they watch as Giovanni almost crushes his own kid to get Meloetta, they come to an agreement where they agree to go back to their nanny gig because they know if anything happens to Ash then the world will be in trouble. After all, their job is to protect the world from devastation, right?
no ones ever sent in this ask and holy fuck do I love this so much.

Twin Dragon AU: Hoard Heist!
This is the story about how bumbling Team Rocket manages to steal from our favorite train-loving dragon brothers, and live to tell the tale.
Our story begins with a psychic who works for Team Rocket. Her psychic power is to ask questions about the present and past with a Scrabble-like board that uses Unown tiles in place of letters; she gets three questions at a time, and of course, all answers are exactly correct but potentially misleading. Also, she sometimes wakes up to random predictions on the board; this is the only way she can tell the future.
One day, the board tells her that by midnight of the day after tomorrow, if Jessie, James, and Meowth do not rob the richest dragon hoard in Unova, doom will fall upon Team Rocket.
So the psychic contacts the team, and lets them ask her three questions. After thinking it over, the trio asks, and the board answers,
(Since these are Unown tiles, there’s no period and no capitalization; questions are asked with ? and answers end with ! Also, spaces are represented by blank tiles).
“where is the richest dragon hoard in the world?”
“the nimbasa city subway!”
The trio are shocked, because they’d already extensively explored the subway for a heist, and they never say any sign of dragon treasure. The psychic asserts that the tiles never lie. So they proceed with,
“how do we find the treasure in the hoard?”
“go to any operational subway station descend escalator or elevator purchase ticket proceed through turnstile!”
So now the trio concludes that the treasure must be in the stations rather than the tunnels, and feel arrogant enough to ask the last question,
“how much money is the hoard worth?”
“seventy three billion five hundred four million twenty seven thousand one hundred eighty Pokédollars and twenty two cents!”
($73,504,027,180.22, for better processing. Yes, I know Pokédollars are approximately yen, but Unova’s like America and cents feel more exact.)
So now Team Rocket’s interest is piqued, so they immediately set out for Nimbasa City. Wherever they are, they arrive the morning of the fated day; they have less than sixteen hours to find and steal Unova’s richest dragon hoard.
First, they disguise themselves as subway janitors, and the infiltration goes fine at first, until--
“I am Emmet. You will stop.”
Emmet inherited Reshiram’s ability to sense lies, and that includes disguises. I think he’d be fine with cosplayers and people wearing Halloween costumes because that’s pretending rather than lying, but he instantly spots these three dripping dirty water all over the floor.
Team Rocket turns around and sees Subway Boss Emmet, one of the strongest trainers in Unova, looking and feeling rather... dangerous. Now, Team Rocket’s met Legendaries before, and they know what that subtle, gentle, but persistent pressure means (keep in mind that they’ve always stayed a fair distance away from the Subway Bosses in the anime). They’re terrified, uncomfortably warm, and almost ready to Smokescreen their way out, until...
“You are not allowed to disguise yourself as subway staff. Please go home and change.”
Emmet can sense lies, but he can’t see through them. Lots of people pass through Gear Station in disguise; spies, private detectives, celebrities who don’t want to be recognized; heck, Elesa almost never boards the subway without covering her face. The Subway Bosses are okay with this as long as nobody starts anything on the trains, but they put their foot down on people disguising themselves as Depot Agents. It’s a safety hazard; what if there’s an accident, and the faux Depot Agents can’t do their job? After too many fake janitors (who refuse to clean up messes) show up, this turns into a blanket ban on anyone who works in the subway.
In other words, following in the tradition of no one ever being able to see through Team Rocket’s disguises, they manage to fool the local Dragon God of Truth.
So Team Rocket exit the subway, change into tourist costumes, and then enter the subway again.
As stated above, the advice for finding the treasure boils down to, “go to any train platform,” so Team Rocket deduces that the treasure must be split between each station. Rather than concluding that they only need to rob one station, they decide to rob them all, so they spend the day travelling between stations, mapping them out and looking for potential trapdoors.
Hours of fruitless but earnest searching later, our intrepid band of thieves are checking out an elevator on a deserted platform, wondering if it hides a trapdoor underneath the car, when--
“BRAVO!”
They attract the attention of the other terrifying dragon god in the vicinity. To make things scarier, this is post-Legends Ingo, which means that he spent the past few years learning to mask his presence. None of them notice him until the second he opens his mouth.
So here they are, in a deserted platform, alone with another one of the other strongest trainers in Unova, who looks distinctly unhappy to see them, pressure like the building of an inevitable thunderstorm, all while the lights in the station begin to flicker and flash--
“Your Ideals, I see how they burn so brightly within!”
Few are as determined as Team Rocket. Years upon years of failure, and they never give up. Zekrom, Dragon God of Ideals, can sense their determination, a beacon even to trainers on the Battle Subway, and decided to say hello.
Ingo earnestly tells them to never give up and to make their Ideals a reality, all the while oblivious to what said Ideals actually are. Then he has to leave and do Subway Boss things.
This pep talk lifts Team Rocket’s spirits, and once he leaves, they steal a wrench from a convenient supply closet and dismantle the elevator. Alas, no trapdoor.
Hours pass, midnight fast approaches, and Team Rocket is no closer to finding any gold or jewels. They ride the trains with the same burning determination, right up until they happen to sit next to an accountant trying to finish up her work before midnight. James is bored enough to peek at her screen.
Then he screams.
The accountant is startled, and confused when James asks what she’s working on. She says she’s analyzing the Nimbasa City Subway’s financial report, and almost hurts herself in confusion when James screams again.
Jessie yells at him to stop, and James simply points at the screen.
“Assets (trains): 73,504,027,180.22″
$73,504,027,180.22. Exactly what the psychic told them.
The trains are the treasure. The entire subway is the hoard.
(Am I highballing this? Lowballing this? I tried looking at balance sheets for the New York City Subway, but it doesn’t seem to specify the total value of the trains).
Team Rocket now has thirty-three minutes to figure out how to steal an entire train from the hoard, and whether it’s a good idea to rob what they now realize are a pair of dragon gods. Then they realize that even if they don’t steal a whole train, they can steal part of a train. So they find a convenient toolbox near the front of the car and help themselves to a screwdriver...
Seventeen minutes later, a Depot Agent comes out to yell at the crazy tourists trying to take home an entire train seat/bench as a souvenir, and kicks them out.
The clock strikes midnight on Team Rocket as they dismally walk through the streets of Nimbasa City. Jessie is furious, blames the other two for dooming Team Rocket, Meowth snaps back, and they get into a tussle.
And then during the fight, a little metal thing clangs quietly to the sidewalk, and Team Rocket stops.
A screwdriver fells out of James’s pocket. A printed label taped to the handle proclaims it to be, “Nimbasa City Subway, Train 189, Car 5.”
Then a monkey wrench falls out of Jessie’s bag, labelled, “Nimbasa City Subway, Summit Station.”
They report that they have stolen something from the dragon hoard, so they definitely fulfilled the prophecy, right?
Their superiors don’t put too much stock in psychics or prophecies. What’s more relevant to them are those two strange Subway Bosses, and how these three seem to think that they’re Legendaries...
To be continued?
(Probably not. Sounds too serious for me.)
Link to the train hoard post here: [https://www.tumblr.com/blog/view/nartothelar/689813571829481472?source=share]
By the way, the ‘doom’ the psychic prophesized was basically a domino effect rather than the direct result of our trio not stealing anything.
At some point in the future, Team Rocket (the whole organization) would have tried a second mass robbery in Nimbasa City, once again involving the subway. This time, the Subway was prepared, and they completely wreck Team Rocket. Several key members are arrested, a ton of expensive equipment is destroyed, and morale is at a low.
Thanks to our lovely trio suspecting that the Subway Bosses are Legendaries in disguise, other members of Team Rocket investigated and discovered that it’s an open secret in Nimbasa City. After the Mewtwo fiasco, Giovanni knows to steer clear of Legendaries. So he orders everyone to stay clear of the Nimbasa City Subway.
Is it necessary for Team Rocket to steal anything, though? Could they have walked out of there completely empty-handed, but knowing that the Subway Bosses were Legendaries in disguise? Maybe they only report successful thefts, or their superiors only read reports on successful thefts? Hypotheticals are fun.

How would you define the personalities of Jessie and James? (their personality traits) and what are their main differences in your opinion? Thank you.
Ooooooooh amazing question I could probably go on about this forever. Let's seeeee
Jessie is an incredibly passionate, vain woman who is usually pretty quick to anger. She has a very hard exterior but has shown many moments of softness when it comes to those she cares about (her friends, her Pokémon, even Ash and some of the other twerps). She's excitable and arguably the dumbest of the TRio, often asking James or Meowth to explain things to her or on the opposite end, getting mad when they correct her on something she was wrong about LOL. Prior to being a Team Rocket field agent, she was very cold and closed off (as seen in Training Daze). And before THAT she was a cheery, much softer version of her current self. I think it's sweet that she kinda went back to being happier and sillier after befriending James and Meowth. The world truly was just cruel to her.
James (I'm very excited to talk about this I have a lot of thoughts) slowly but surely made a quite drastic change in character over the series. I can ALWAYS tell when someone's only ever watched season 1 of Pokémon depending on how they describe James. In the early seasons, James is very flamboyant, quite mean, has a sharp tongue. Jessie would often strongarm him in early seasons but he'd bite back without hesitation. He was also shown to be vain to a similar caliber as Jessie. HOWEVER. In later seasons, the vanity, bitey-ness kinda dies off and James' character changes. You wouldn't really be able to tell if you watch the series over time, but if you watch an S1 episode vs one of the S20+ episodes, you can really see it. James becomes more of a silly, sweet, nerdy boy. He's often the voice of reason and geeks out about various things like sports, Pokéballs, fishing gear, bottlecaps etc. Now when Jessie gets on his ass he more or less just deals with it with either a sigh or something akin to "it is what it is". He's very down to follow Jessie's lead unless it's something he's really passionate about, in which case, Jessie takes a back seat and lets him do his thang. As far as how James was before Team Rocket, there's not too much to go off of. As a child he seems very sweet but sad, given his rough, stifling upbringing. In Training Daze, he is much less silly and a bit more guarded (but less guarded than Jessie)
I'd also like to note that Meowth in earlier seasons felt like more of the leader? Like he was always keeping Jessie and James in line. But nowadays, he and James both take that role and tolerate Jessie's antics as a unit.
I think that's all I got to say. I could talk about this forever hahaha

tell me uour thoughts on dp117 let rhe autism flow
YEAS okay so like to start, theres something to be said about how the tpci dub is weird w the trios relationship w eachother in like dp and ag
and specifically james and meowth towards jessie, intentionally putting conflict where there wasn’t necessarily any in the original, yknow yknow but thats always kinda been a thing.
like ok so them as a group are very different people obviously and they have different desires, usually the source for their temporary breakups see: meowth having his ideals tempted by christophers job offer, jessie tempted by her contest career, and james just . wanting things to be the same.
STARTING W JESSIE HERE BC we know she has low impulsivity kcontrol and she just kinda burns her own path no matter what, the gravity of the situation probably not even crossing her mind. she’s still in her own way kinda kind about it even though the actions were insensitive, w telling james to let meowth go, if thats what he wants. THE THREE TRY TO TRUST EACHOTHER SO MUCH that exact scenario happens multiple times, they respect the their teammates so completely that they would let them go if that was what the other wanted. maybe she believed that he wanted something else, elsewhere, the comment about like hey maybe you can go back to your home from jessie isnt very sensitive and its obviously not what James wants, but their individual needs for their own desires cloud their judgement and whatnot…
the thing that gets me about this episode is that james is just desperately trying to ignore the fact that he’s SUPER FUCKING UPSET, just trying to convince themself that he doesnt need the others to be the best a rocket agent can be when yknow. gestures. bozo
i think he just feels like he has nothing else to lose. feels like he lost his friends since god knows and teammates all in one breath, so whats it to try and stick it to em just this once and climb the metaphorical ladders without them? makes me insane bc GRHRGHHHRHHHRH he doesnt even actually think that. of course he doesnt wanna do any of it without the others, but one has to put one foot in front of the other to get through life or whatever… does it out of the guise of proving a point and almost fucking dies bc of it
and of course none of them know entirely how to deal with feelings that cant be squashed, the lingering dread of being alone, because that is one issue the three of them definitely share. they’re just deathly afraid of being alone even if its hidden under several layers of denial and anger and spite and whatever else.
THEY MISS EACHOTHER THEY MISS SHARING FOOD WITH EACHOTHER AND EXISTING WITHIN THEMSELVES AND THEY LIKE DOING IT !!!!!!! THE GRIND IS MANAGEABLE WHEN YOU HAVE PALS TO DO IT WITH!!!!!!!!! it just kills me, meowth specifically has that soft spot and its pretty deep rooted. and his doubts show up very early on, THIS FUCKING CAT MISSES HIS FRIENDS but he’s still mad at them and feels like he also has to prove something. him in particular it affects the quickest, insecurity and loneliness is just as deep rooted in him as it is in jessie, he’s just more open about it than her.
i know i havent even gotten to the obvious yet but UEGAHHHHHHHHHH!!.
and yknow the other two fucking drop it all in barely a heartbeat when they find out what james is doing. whatever they do they do as a team, even if it’s ridiculously stupid. especially if its ridiculously stupid actually
and james gets all teary eyed and sappy about it even through originally wanting to go it alone out of anger………. i cant even parse it this episode is brain melting THEY FUCK8NG PROMISE TO MEET EACHOTHER IN THE AFTERLIFE .. they sincerely believe they are about to die and jessie decides her last words would be to promise they’ll still find eachother in the lifetimes that follow. WHAT THE FUCK. WHTA THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS SO MUCH FOR A POKEMON EPISODE. ITS SO MUCH.   its so . its not even necessarily a romantic thing but its so . you know that they mean it no matter the context…..
if one rocket dies the others do too. how poetic, surprisingly in character actually. everything these three do they do it together , when meowth comes back and inevitably saves them and they hug ndn ouhhhggghh…………………… you cant look at me and tell me they dont love eachother so fucking much. they’re literally friends…,how insane is that……. love does exist……………..
