"Move," you groaned, far beyond being friendly as yet another crazed, beyond wild fan attempted to push you out of the way, security was busy at the front of the hall, close to where it led into the backstage area where some of the band members were humoring the fans by waving at them.

You were just barely keeping your sanity as you tried to push through with the bag of takeaway Jaskier had asked you to pick up and bring to the back entrance before the show, the back, which he had conveniently forgotten to mention would be packed with screaming and shoving girls, and boys, and everyone in between, to be fair it was expected, but usually he'd have someone wait at the door to escort you, today you weren't so lucky.

"Get off," you nearly shouted, disbelieved as someone pushed you right into the wall, paying no mind to the pain the action might cause as they held you there, hand scraping the bare brick wall and earning a hiss from your frowning lips as you realized it tore some skin. You were going unnoticed by everyone, you were sure if Lambert took a moment to stop flirting with the girl in front of him he'd have the perfect view of you, but alas, you got lost among the other faces, drowned out by the other voices.

So you started shoving back, acting with the same yet very differently intentioned urgency to shove your way to the front, ignoring every rude comment or recoil until you were almost at the front, pausing only when you realized who was responsible for your lack of escort.

Geralt was standing on the top of the three steps that led into his dressing room, three guards perched in front of him, trying hopelessly to keep people from pushing up the line, everyone fighting for a quick touch, a wave, hell even a passing glance would drive them to unconsciousness. He wasn't doing anything, really, not that he had to, just leaning back against the very wall you'd hurt your hand on, looking down at everyone through his lashes, golden eyes doing nothing to keep them calm as he hid an amused smirk. It was teasing really, seeing how much he could get from them without doing anything at all as he held one hand on his knee with a foot perched against the wall and the other combing through already messy white strands, driving them mad, driving you mad.

"Hey, white wolf!" your voice broke through clearly now, clearer than you'd thought it would, the man in question searching for your eyes instantly, only you knew the little self-proclaimed nicknames Jaskier had given the band members, only you spent enough time with the lot of them to call it out so casually. You smiled, admittedly shyly when he found you, his smirk deepening slightly when you held up your arm to show him the bag in your hands. "You're welcome," you mouthed, no need to shout now that he held you in his gaze, no need to hear it to know he grunted in reply.

As if you'd not endured enough, he paid witness to you once again being guided around by the stream of people, an elbow to the side and a hip trust from the other making you stumble enough to drop the goods, your groan far too dramatic as you bent down to retrieve it in the little space you had. You briefly heard his voice, briefly because as soon as he spoke it egged on a choir of cheers and roars, the excitement only aiding your struggle as you stumbled to the ground and you huffed out a sigh, looking up and around you in defeat. You had no idea why the roaring got even louder until a familiar face appeared in front of you, guards circling the pair of you to make some room.

"You okay?" he demanded, it was loud, a shout that sounded like a whisper due to your surroundings, you managed a nod, vividly aware of the burning glares you received as he grabbed your waist to guide you from the floor, a breach in the circle pushing you taut against his chest. He swore under his breath, shaking his head, rolling his eyes, the full Geralt trifecta as he took the bag into his hand, other hand entwining with yours before he roughly led you to the front. "You should have texted one of us before coming through," he reprimanded lightly once you were safe behind a gate of guards, hand still in his, breath still caught in your throat as he made no effort to put some space between you.

"Jaskier said it was clean back here," you sighed, the guilty party sitting on a chair behind you, not at all bothered by the ordeal you just faced as he looked from you and Geralt's entwined hands to your face with a tooth-rotting smirk and like a bolt of lightning striking through your senses you realized what was going on in that stupid rockstar head of his.

"Jaskier, is an idiot," he grunted and you breathed a laugh, nodding in agreement as you looked down at your other hand, drops of blood tracing your knuckles. Geralt had handed the bag to Lambert in the process, the only thing more important to him than scoring a girl to take to his hotel after the show was food, a bag full of it as he disappeared into the dressing room. "The beasts wounded you," the blonde at your side noted, not even hesitating before taking that hand in his as well, thumb brushing just under the small scrapes as you shrugged.

"Well, I had no witchers to protect me," you quipped in a soft tone, shy, not because he was this big famous rockstar everyone loved, but because he was this big brooding softie that made your knees weak without even trying.

"I see," he was grunting again, a new record, you noted in your head, but it was softer, lighter, more of a caring sound than what he usually used it for. "I think I'll have to keep you at my side for the rest of the night," he offered and you were burning, inside out as the heat rushed to your cheeks because the offer wasn't at all as innocent as he made it out to be, eyes darkened under the hanging lightbulb as he looked at you. "For your safety," he explained and added a shrug, faux sincerity and you rolled your eyes, really just needing to break eye contact.

"Very noble of you."

"Oh, I am all for nobility," and he was leading you away, already going straight for the first aid kit to dress your wounds, making sure you were in fact as close to his side as possible, absolutely devouring the way you melted into him so delicately, so perfectly and he was already thinking of ways to keep you at his side long after tonight.

Grunge-Metal Geralt 2

holy fucking shit yall really loved the first one so I wrote some more

this is totally self indulgent tho. like yall have no idea. if i could live in any AU it would be this one. i have so many feels.

Warnings: drinking mention, nothing over the top, unwanted pics taken but like they’re celebrities? i guess, we get a bit emotional about past relationships/crushes but nothing too heavy

Jaskier had no idea how he got there, but he was knocking on a green room door with a temporary label reading ‘The Witchers’ before the stadium had completely emptied. 

Lambert yanked the door open, Aiden clinging to his back like a monkey, and his eyes nearly bulged out of his head before a huge grin spread over his face, “Hey there, Jaskier!”

Eskel grumbled, “Haha, Bert. No need to fuck with Geralt.” 

Jaskier shoved his hands in his corduroys and rocked up onto his toes, “He’s not fucking with anyone,” he laughed, desperately trying to keep the nerves out of his voice as he peeked around the door jam. 

Geralt was curled up in the corner of a couch, now wearing a massive grey-blue hoodie and gold wire-rimmed glasses, scribbling in a composition notebook propped up on his knees. His hair was pulled back in a disaster of a bun with pieces falling in his face but Jaskier absolutely loved it. It suited him. He hesitated a moment before scrawling one last line in his notebook, brow furrowed as he chewed on his bottom lip.

When he looked up he snapped his notebook shut, “Holy fuck,” he breathed, “Hi!”

His eyes were actually gold. Jaskier had just thought that was some thirst driven exaggeration. He expected light brown, but no. He was staring directly at eyes that practically sparkled.

Lambert waved Jaskier in and he hesitantly stepped through the door, “Hi! I uh, dig your boots.” 

“Th- Thank you,” Geralt bit back a grin, blushing bright pink as he stood up, “I didn’t think you’d see my message. Or respond.” 

“After that performance?” Jaskier, normally bard-worthy with his quick tongue and easy conversation, was feeling his own cheeks heat up as he scrambled for something to say, “I’m honestly not sure if I even locked my car when I came back in.” 

Eskel snickered from behind Jaskier, stretching and putting his feet up on a coffee table, “Told ya.”

Aiden sighed and rested his chin on top of Lambert’s head, “This is so cute.”

Jaskier laughed, not entirely uncomfortably but definitely awkward, and ran a hand through his hair, turning back to Geralt. 

Geralt pushed his glasses farther up his nose and snatched his wallet from the coffee table, “I offered drinks. You wanna…” Geralt trailed off and made an exasperated, and maybe a little annoyed face at the guys behind him but when Jaskier turned around they were pretending to mind their own business, “How does Pensive sound?” 

Jaskier shot him a grin, “Sounds perfect.”

Geralt snagged his keys from a bag and held the door open for Jaskier, “After you.”

“Okay so,” Jaskier took a sip of his drink and set it in line with their two empty glasses and a napkin holder, “Aiden and Lambert fuck?” he asked, pushing an empty glass and the napkin holder together. Geralt snorted and nodded so he went on, “And Eskel and Lambert are brothers?” Another nod as he tapped the two empty glasses, “And you and Eskel were college roommates?” he asked, gesturing to his half-empty glass. 

Geralt grinned, “You know, you’re keeping up pretty well for a self-proclaimed lightweight.” 

Jaskier giggled, “I’m trying really fucking hard.” 

Geralt leaned his head back and laughed and Jaskier was absolutely done for. He rested his elbow on the table and his head in his hand as he stared dreamily at this adorable man. He was carefree and soft around the edges, nothing like Jaskier had expected from the lyrics he’d listened to all night. And either he was a good listener or Jaskier had had one too many vodka-crans. 

When Geralt finally got himself under control he took off his glasses to wipe at his eyes before placing them back on his nose with a grimace, “I shouldn’t have taken my contacts out.” 

“Old prescription?” 

Geralt blushed, “Don’t usually wear them in public,” He admitted, pushing the frames higher.

Jaskier must have had too much to drink because he reached out and tucked a curly strand of white hair behind Geralt’s ear, “I think they’re cute on you.” 

Geralt’s breath caught in his throat as he stared at Jaskier, jaw hanging down just a bit, his pupils blown wide. Jaskier bit his lip and smiled as he pulled his hand away and rested it on the table between them, hoping Geralt would get the hint. Gods he just wanted to hold his hand and giggle until the sun came up. 

“Thank you,” Geralt muttered, blinking a couple times and laying one of his hands over Jaskier’s. 

“Can I ask you something?”

Geralt licked his lips and nodded, shaking the hair loose that Jaskier had just tucked away. 

“Why that song?” Jaskier stared at their hands, not having the courage to look at Geralt in case the answer wasn’t what he wanted it to be. 

“Hmm…” he didn’t sound upset, but he was certainly choosing his words carefully, “I’ve done the whole.. How do I put it?” Jaskier looked up at him only to see him staring at their hands too, “...‘I could be enough for you if you’d let me’ dance more times than I can count… and knowing it would never happen but yearning anyway…” he chuckled and glanced up at Jaskier, a sad look of acceptance in his eyes, “And I love your voice.”

Of course, he’d heard those words before, it was his job to have a good voice, but fuck, they hit different coming from Geralt. He was so earnest and disarmingly handsome that Jaskier felt anything he said would make him giddy. His chest felt warm and it took a moment for his brain to catch up. He had planned on showering Geralt with praise and adoration, not the other way around. 

Jaskier squeezed his hand, “I love yours too,” he whispered.

There was that gorgeous blush again, making Jaskier’s heart skip a beat. 

“I can’t imagine anyone thinking you’re not magnificent,” Jaskier mumbled, watching Geralt blush even deeper and dip his head so the loose hairs covered his face a bit. Jaskier may have been a flirty drunk, but he was one hundred percent sure he’d be just as forward with Geralt sober. He wasn’t leaving the bar without making damn sure Geralt knew he was gorgeous and talented and everything Jaskier could imagine wanting in life. 

“Careful. You can’t just say things like that,” Geralt warned, flicking the hair out of his eyes with a guarded but amused smile. 

“And why not?”

Geralt squinted at him for a moment, “I might believe you.” 

“Geralt, darling,” Jaskier started, sitting up and turning to square his hips toward him, holding his large hand in both of his, “I don’t mince words. I mean everything I say. And tweet. I really do think you’re wonderful. And I really do want you to sing me to sleep. Sometime. Anytime. I’m not picky.”

Geralt raised his eyebrows and took a breath in to say something but was interrupted by a camera flash in the low light of the bar and someone swearing.

“Oi!” Jaskier turned toward the light, and the idiot fumbling with their phone. 

Geralt squeezed his hand before he could say anything more, “It’s alright. The hair kinda glows in the dark, I’m used to it. I was thinking we could get out of here?”

Jaskier did his best not to let the sly smile take over his face and give him away, “Would you like to come to my place?”

Geralt grinned, “Absolutely. Mine is a shit show right now.”

“Is it really that bad?” Jaskier joked as they stood.

“Eskel is a slob,” Geralt laughed.

“Mine it is!” Jaskier declared, slapping enough cash to cover their drinks and an exorbitant tip on the table.

They walked out of the bar with Geralt’s arm around Jaskier’s shoulders, both with giddy smiles and a little extra pep in their step.

This Metal/Grunge!Geralt is completely inspired by @thecomfortofoldstorries ‘s amazing AU (click to read the first and the second part, trust me you really should). You did a great job with this one, thank you so much for sharing it with us!

I fell in love with this work so hard that I couldn’t help giving my small contribution. From the moment I’ve started working on this piece, headcanons about Geralt’s particular look took shape into my mind and I want to share them with you:

The first tattoo Geralt got is the horse on his right shoulder. Roach is a symbol of his past and his childhood. Lambert thinks it’s a bit funny because both tattoos on his right arm represent the fact that Geralt prefers animals to people. 

The tattoo on his left elbow is part of The Witchers’ logo and all the bandmates wear it with pride.

The last tattoo he got is the little sparrow on his neck. Geralt and Ciri, his little sister, went to the tattoo parlor as soon as she turned 18. She chose the design and he paid for both of them. She had been talking about getting a tattoo for a year and Geralt, being a tall, big man covered in ink, couldn’t deny her wish without feeling like a hypocrite.

The geometric tattoo on Geralt’s left shoulder is a cover-up. In his mid-twenties, he fell in love with Yennefer and their relationship was an emotional rollercoaster for him and all the people around. The morning he woke up with this crazy idea in mind, Geralt went to the tattoo parlor to get a bouquet of lilacs and gooseberries tattooed on his arm, no regrets. When he got back home, Eskel wasn’t really convinced by this great love gesture (actually, he said that it was a very “Lambert idea”) but Geralt is nothing if not very stubborn. When they finally broke up, Geralt had to go through a few painful tattoo sessions. Every time he went to rehearsal after a session, Lambert would greet him with a heavy hand on his sore shoulder and remind him that fortunately he didn’t get his ex’s name tattooed on his ass (you can see a bit of purple under the geometric shapes).

After so many years on stage, Geralt’s look has become a bit more gentle: he gave up wearing lip and nose piercings and he said goodbye to heavy make-up. He still wears a touch of black kohl (yes, Ciri learned how to do her make up watching her brother), and he still has a few patch of skin he wants to cover with tattoos.

+ Smol Jaskier is back guys, and he’s enjoying the view.

Where a moody 19-year-old Jaskier becomes enamored with Geralt, 35, the frontman of deathmetal band "Rivia".

At first Jaskier blends into the crowd, but through the flashes of the strobelights Geralt locks onto those dewy eyes the size of moons, and he finds he can't look away.

6 Unpopular Gaming Opinions

I have a lot of unpopular opinions, and if you follow me on twitter, you might have seen a few recently. However, a simple tweet here and there hardly covers my opinions in gaming that might not sit well with people in this space. I know a lot of people get mad over differing opinions these days, but I have more unpopular than popular opinions, and I think I’d like to talk about a few. 

6. If you’re mad about Pokemon games, you’re wrong 

Yeah, I’m getting into it right away, and again if you follow me on twitter, you might have seen this once or twice recently, but getting mad about Pokemon to me, always seems foolish. Pokemon as a series has always been what we call a double A experience. Not quite an indie, but clearly not a AAA experience either. In other words, Pokemon is simple, and the crazy amount of Dexit hate, and other controversies about Sword and Shield, the most recent releases in the series are in my eyes, just plain stupid. It’d be one thing to be mad about something not being done if developers were in a similar situation as say, CDPR devs, but to our knowledge that’s not the case. Pokemon, fun as it is, isn’t that serious. 

5. Western RPG’s are inferior to JRPG’s by default

There’s a simple reason for this. Games made with the western audience in mind, tend to have the same major flaw that a majority of western games do, they don’t explore the emotions of their male characters, espeically if the lead in a male character, half as well as Japanese RPG’s do. On the one hand, I get it, people still talk about FFXIII like the characters are bad, despite their “major flaws” in many people’s view in the west, simply being that they express their emotions openly. It’s a major problem in Western RPG’s though that the main character if male doesn’t show emotions, and that male characters that do, are seen as weak in the games themselves. This leaves female roles to carry all the emotional weight, which in turn pushes the male power fantasy too far in my opinion, and leaves the main characters boring. Many a western gaming fan would pick Geralt of Rivia as one of the best characters ever made, and while he does occasionally get to show some emotion, my pick would easily be more along the lines of Sora from Kingdom Hearts, or Rean Schwarzar from Trails of Cold Steel, because their emotions makes them more relatable and endearing. 

4. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is better than Breath of the Wild

I’m of the opinion as it is, that Breath of the Wild is an overrated game. The climbing mechanics are frustrating, breaking weapons is annoying, and for all the world building and lore that Zelda has as a series, the story is a mess and can easily be told out of order. While Age of Calamity does tell an arguably less emotional story as characters fates are altered from Breath of the Wild, it also tells a more engaging one and characters being on screen longer than they were in the Breath of the Wild, also gives them more time to develop, and be characters we should care about. The Warriors format itself is pretty enjoyable as is, but combined with a story I was more invested in, characters I got to know better than Breath of the Wild ever tried to make them known, and just an overall superior representation of this version of Hyrule, it was simply just a better experience. I can only hope Breath of the Wild 2, ends up having that much story and that much fun gameplay to offer. 

3. The Grand Theft Auto series, is kind of garbage

Now I’m really digging deep. The question is whether or not I’m just going off the rails, or digging my own grave. But seriously, these games are boring. The idea was novel at first when we finally San Andreas, be the bad guy, do whatever you want, all that. Sounds good, and it was kind of fun, but the problem is, GTA hasn’t really ever evolved past that. Sure it starts to look better, but the characters in it are stupid, annoying, and bland, games like GTA V don’t know when to end their main campaign, the series never really took the time to develop the few interesting characters it does have, like Franklin, because they just have to fall into the narrative of crime is good, and it’s just not a fun series because the controls aren’t great. You could do worse, sure, but you can also do better, and it doesn’t feel like Rockstar really wants to try. I’m sorry but the GTA games, are just boring and uninteresting after their novelty wears off. 

2. Final Fantasy VII is just, okay, the remake is also pretty mid

To me personally, Final Fantasy VII is one of those games that really survives on nostalgia, and little else besides. Like, it’s a fine game, passable in the world of Final Fantasy as a whole, but some of it’s plots are not well handled or don’t seem to go anywhere, the ending kind of makes everything you do past a certain point completely moot, and Cloud’s pride is the cause potentially thousands of dead people because he didn’t back away when he knew he should have. Sadly, the remake doesn’t do much better. While it does give more detail to the story, and takes better care to make it make sense, it also is still pretty much the same story, and that’s boring to me. I’ve played this game, I know how it ends, (though possibly not in the remake) it just doesn’t grab me like it seems to have done for so many people. Even saying that, I still like the game a lot, because it’s Final Fantasy, and the series will always mean a lot to me, even the worst of it, but Final Fantasy VII, for me, is just okay, and the remake telling pretty much the same story again, doesn’t endear it to me. 

1. The Last of us Part II, is fantastic

Yeah, something a little more recent to spice up this wild list, why not. The Last of Us Part II, is simply a fantastic game, with a well told story, fantastic characters, and great pacing. It doesn’t shy away from problems in our current society like sexual identity, it’s open to the fact that people are different than each other in ways that many people aren’t comfortable with, and it does it’s part to make open-minded people uncomfortable, by having them play as the woman that killed Joel. A lot of people who hate this game, seemingly can’t get past the fact that it does these things, and look at the game as it’s face value, which is sad, because if you’re willing to challenge yourself, you might find an amazing experience here. Yes, the gameplay isn’t the best, but just like the first game, the story is something far more in depth than anyone could have prepared for. It’s a masterful story, and a great send-off to Naughty Dog, who I personally cannot see myself supporting unless they change the way they develop games. Still, I admire what’s here, and what the developers did with what they were given.
