I commissioned nakitamelo to do this painting of my boys in the style of a paperback bodice-ripper novel from the 90's. Nakita is a consummate professional and was a joy to work with. I'm absolutely delighted with how this turned out. It's even more beautiful than I imagined and I can't get over the tender expressions and intimacy.

This was the inspiration I sent. I thought it would be perfect for them and I was right.

So yes The Chilly Academic, he became a sexy mad scientist for us it was the first idea I thought and it works. So behold him trying to understand love...because its connected to hearts.

Soooo you know how I did the Pirate Luxord? Well I joked how it looked like a cover of a romance Novel and then others asking What would the other members of Organization 13 would look like as romance novel covers? And well so um behold an on and off project?

I decided to do Xigbar and theme his around the Japanese mafia…I don't want to say the Y word right now out of um a lot of fan artists of the game that starts with the Y word are getting in trouble soo better safe than sorry.

Main reason I did this theme was when I did a stream of the game staring Majima, when I mentioned I had a crush on an org member they all assumed it was Xigbar because similar look and all that.

Now while I don't think he aint hot in his own right, he is like friend with benefit not husband, you know what I mean?

So his will be themed as such.

Before anyone asks yes I have plans for most, no roxas and xion will not be part of this (they are bloody children) and yes I will play nice with Axel even though I am not an Axel fan. Oddly enough he was one of the easier ones to come up with a theme for.

Adjustments to the cover art of Secretly Yours by Tessa Bailey.

This one suffers from a couple of my pet peeves: generic character drawings, anatomical flatness, and the ever-present “a novel”. The heroine is meant to be a hands-dirty garden landscaper, and the only horn of that in the cover art is her holding a bouquet. So, since the backmatter literally makes a point of describing her as permanently being covered in dirt and mud, I added smears of dirt to her and a trail of it at her feet. I also switched out her tennis shoes for (poorly drawn but you get the idea) gum boots, and since she’s a physical labourer out in the sun all day I gave her a hat! Now she looks like a gardener.

The generic design for the male character gives me nothing - is he a doctor, a politician, a security guard, a CEO? No, apparently he’s a professor trying to write a book. So I adjusted his facial features a little, tapers the shape of his body a little to look a little more natural and dynamic for the eye (with simple vector art like this, the silhouette is everything!) and I scattered some pages around him to make him look ✨learned✨.

I do like the touch of the single secret admirer letter at his feet, and I think the extra pages actually emphasise that rather than detract from it.
