"I will never enter the marriage mart," he swore.

For the amazing (and incredibly patient) @elisela, who challenged me with several things:

1. To write a historical romance

2. Make it a Sterek arranged marriage

3. Sprinkle in a bit of Marrish

4. And make it Friends-to-Lovers

I cut my teeth on Harlequin romances and this is an utterly self-indulgent homage to the genre. While it took me several outlines (and as many discarded drafts) to figure out how to make a friends-to-lovers scenario work, I finally came up with a story I'm excited to share! Thank you, elisela, for generously donating to FTH and for giving me something so amazing to work with!😘

I commissioned nakitamelo to do this painting of my boys in the style of a paperback bodice-ripper novel from the 90's. Nakita is a consummate professional and was a joy to work with. I'm absolutely delighted with how this turned out. It's even more beautiful than I imagined and I can't get over the tender expressions and intimacy.

This was the inspiration I sent. I thought it would be perfect for them and I was right.

If I thought all the vibrancy of Shanks' was hard, all this dark and gloominess was worst. I have no idea how to paint nights, or plants for that matter 🙃 We don't talk about lighting

I switched to gold because it was more flashy!!! And I want it to have a warmer atmosphere even if its a moon light. It was too cold and it must feel warm and loving!!!!

Summary: Steve, a society omega, puts out an add in the paper looking for an alpha among the lonely hearts expanding the west. He’s answered by Billy, a lonely cowboy living in a growing settlement in California rich  in just about everything but available omegas. Even though it is clear  that Billy hasn’t had the schooling that Steve has, Steve finds himself  charmed and intrigued by the intelligent and silly alpha who hangs on  his every word, who actually seems to want to listen to him. He seems  like the perfect choice, but there’s one problem. It’s not Billy who has  been writing Steve but his little sister Max.

Preview: In the aftermath of Max's near abduction Steve finds himself in an unexpected circumstance. Meanwhile Billy tries to keep himself and his companions alive in their hunt for Vecna's missing cattle. A dance of wills between him and Mac Owens leads him to an impossible choice.

I thought Fingersmith was sexy and then I discovered the Carey Mulligan and Felicity Jones adaptation of Northanger Abbey. Is the Jane Austen book really like this or did whoever adapted it get a bit carried away?

Why do they call those cheesy-sleazy pseudo-historical romance novels "bodice rippers", anyway? (No offense to anyone who reads them, I have been known to partake of raunchy Regencies with certain regularity; this is about the nickname.)

I mean, really, have you ever looked closely at an actual bodice? Those things are some serious garment construction right there. Ask anyone who knows something about sewing.

They're built to keep the boobage in place and help shape the torso, so they're pretty tough material... and that's without taking any boning (not that kind! the stuff that makes corsets keep their shape!) into account.

Dude, there is NO way anyone is just ripping one open without a very sharp blade through either the lacing or the fabric, and it will probably end with a bleeding lady who doesn't much feel like putting out for Sir Slice-a-lot.

My interests do not have to be limited. I can like reading elitist, aesthetic fiction like TSH or IWWV or Never Let Me Go while listening to Taylor Swift or Neon Trees or Girl in Red, or reading absolutely questionable escapism books like CoHo or SJM or a bodice ripper or Penelope Douglas or while listening to Tchaikovsky, reading a scientific textbook or even Marauders fanfiction and doing ballet simultaneously and there is no reason to limit myself to either or. I like what I like. Anyone can like what they want to like.

Considering he's 10' tall; had to have him crouch a little bit for a 5'+ marine. (Also had to give him pink shoes because the 2yo Dottir-Bean told me to).

The more I look at number two from the poll, the more I think it fits more Shanks than Beckman.

Except Shanks would totally be cracking up, having just take his girl by surprise and bring her closer to him.
