The actions and mindset of the Kingdom
The actions and mindset of the Kingdom
A recognition of the Kingdom of God results in a lifestyle and emotional mindset guided by its principles. Romans 14:17-18 – For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever thus serves Messiah is acceptable to God and approved by men. The apostle Paul uttered this statement in the midst of his instruction on not…

The Law of Liberty (Matthew 7:1-6; Luke 6:37-42)
1 Now receive the one being weak in the faith, not for passing judgment on reasonings. 2 Indeed, one believes to eat all things; but the one being weak eats vegetables. 3 The one eating, let him not despise the one not eating; and the one not eating, let him not judge the one eating, for God has received him. 4 Who are you, judging another’s servant? To the own master he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to uphold him.
5 For indeed one judges a day to be above another day, but one judges every day alike. Let each be fully assured in the own mind. 6 The one regarding the day, regards it to the Lord; the one eating, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and the one not eating, does not eat to the Lord and gives thanks to God.
7 For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. 8 For both if we should live, we live to the Lord; and if we should die, we die to the Lord. Therefore both if we should live and if we should die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For unto this, Christ died and lived again that He might rule over both the dead and living.
10 But why do you judge your brother, or why also do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. 11 For it has been written:
“I live, says the Lord, that every knee will bow to Me, and every tongue will confess to God.”
12 So then, each of us will give account concerning himself to God.
The Law of Love (Ezekiel 14:1-11; 1 Corinthians 8:1-13)
13 No longer, therefore, should we judge one another; but rather determine this, not to put any stumbling block or snare before your brother.
14 I know and I am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean of itself, except to him reckoning anything to be unclean—to that one it is unclean. 15 For if on account of food your brother is grieved, no longer are you walking according to love. Do not destroy with food that one of you for whom Christ died.
16 Therefore let not your good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 For the one serving Christ in these things is well-pleasing to God and approved by men.
19 So then, we should pursue the things of peace, and the things for edification among each other. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but it is wrong to the man eating through a stumbling block. 21 It is good neither to eat meat, nor to drink wine, nor anything in which your brother stumbles.
22 The faith that you have, keep to yourself before God. Blessed is the one not judging himself in what he approves. 23 But the one doubting has been condemned if he eats, because it is not of faith; and anything that is not of faith is sin. — Romans 14 | Berean Literal Bible (BLB) The Berean Literal Bible © 2016 by Bible Hub and Berean Bible. Revelation 2: Thyatira, Jezebel
Jesus was not concerned that Jezebel was a woman overseer in the church. Jesus was concerned that Jezebel was a bad leader, one who falsely claimed God’s anointing, and led God’s own astray. #Jezebel #Thyatira #Revelation2

Stop Passing Judgment on Each Other (Romans 14:13-5:2)
It’s one thing to have opposing views with each other; it’s another thing altogether to pass judgment on the person(s) for whom you have a difference of opinion, practice, or theology.
Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat,…

1 John 1:3: - 11
We whould walk in a sincre way.
vs 3 - 6 Put our faith in Him. But we meed to walk in obedience. Our behaviour needs to reflect His teachings. Walk a life of love. Live like Jesus.
Ephesians 5:25
Live our lives for the LORD daily. But not in a legalistic way. Nor in a self-righteous way.
vs 7, 8 The Old Command Love your neighbour as yourself.
Jesus loved by self sacrifice. Jesus said 'Love your enemies'. This is the opposite of today's Cancel Culture.

We need to act lovingly.
John 13:34
vs 9 - 11 The relationship between us and other believers is very important.
The only way of growth is through forgiveness.
Romans 14:13 - 18
The most important thing is not being right, but being in a healthy relationship with other Christians.
Everyday walk. It calls us to: Obey Love not Hate - We need to be mindful of what we say. Be willing to forgive Matthew 6:14, 15

ROMANS S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 14
Wednesday, 2/8/23
I can't tell y'all how many times I've caught myself before typing in ROMANS R.O.A.D. (showing my street-witnessing age?)
And so, to that end... or to end it...  Reading / Observation / Application / D... D.... D... 🤔... 🤨... 😒... 🥴...
SCRIPTURE:
But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it.  For you are not following your convictions.  If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.   ~ Romans 14:23
OBSERVATION:
If I have doubts about whether or not I should do something - any and every thing - and then do it, I am sinning...
AND so, if I have doubts about whether or not I (reflexively), did something, was that sinning?
I s'pose the answer is in the question... though it would/should be the Spirit raising the awareness and not the enemy trying to find a way in with regret instead of repentance...
If I do - or have done - anything I believe is not right, I am sinning / have sinned...
Are my convictions convicting me of my sinfulness?
APPLICATION:
Follow my - or rather the Spirit's leading - convictions...
Be aware of  can set off my reflex - knee-jerk - reactions - that lead me to disobedience... in word or action...  at work, on the commute, at home...
PRAYER:
Lord Father God - forgive me, a sinner - I react without thinking - I act without regard to the Spirit's leading and against my better judgement - in spite of Your will for my life - May the Spirit persist in leading me to mindfulness of the needs and concerns of those around me, and to my awareness of His presence in everything - Thank You for Jesus's example and sacrifice showing me how to surrender to Your Will for the Kingdom, that it will come in Your perfect timing... In Jesus's name, and gratefully for Your praise and worship...
For Him... for you... and for y'all's...

Romans pt 6: The Weak and Strong (Ro 14: 1-10)
By Tommy Preson Phillips Paul starts chapter 14 by addressing the strong and talking to them about addressing the weak. Now, without a good understanding of these two terms, no healing work can be done here, so let’s start with the one central question for this chapter: “Who are the strong and the Weak?” When I was eighteen and in Bible college, I remember a conversation about who is strong and…

Today's Top 20
So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. Romans 14:12 It’s been 2 weeks, and by God, I think it’s working. As I began this new year, I decided I needed something to hold myself accountable, and so I made a list. 20 different metrics I want to measure every day. Things like how much joy I experienced in a day. How much housework I did. How much exercise I did. How much time…

Through the Bible in One Year
Through the Bible in One Year
Just a brief message before you get into the meat of this post. I realize that this one is quite a bit longer and took quite while to be posted. There are two reasons for this: This section of Romans is so very important that it cannot be dealt with quickly and in just a few short words. In the most important section, vv. 14-23, I went verse by verse and section by section so that you can have…

Daily Devotional: Romans 14:13-23
Daily Devotional: Romans 14:13-23
Because it is God who accepts or rejects, we don’t judge one another any more when it comes to whether a person eats or drinks or worships on this day or that or any like thing (cf. v. 1-12). Rather than judge, we determine not to put an obstacle or stumbling block in a brother’s way. That obstacle, then, is judgment—regarding a brother or sister with contempt because they either choose to…

The Weak and the Strong
1 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. 2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.
5 One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. 6 Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. 8 If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.
10 You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. 11 It is written:
“‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me;   every tongue will acknowledge God.’”
12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.
13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. 14 I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. 15 If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.
19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.
22 So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin. — Romans 14 | New International Version (NIV) Holy Bible, New International Version®, NIV® Copyright ©1973, 1978, 1984, 2011 by Biblica, Inc.® All rights reserved worldwide. The Making of Biblical Womanhood
A good book is one a person is ready to read more than once. Even though I finished Barr's book last year, I am ready to read it again. She is a great writer and a consummate scholar, and I hope she writes more in this genre. #BiblicalWomanhood #BethBarr
I heard about this book from a number of people, it was all the buzz, and I admit it. I was curious. Years ago, when I had first become the teacher of a large women’s Bible study, one of the women I worked closely with had begun involvement with the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, a group I had not heard of before, but soon would become very familiar with through this coworker. As…

The universal fault of hypocrisy
The universal fault of hypocrisy
Believers need to always be on guard against unfair judgment. Matthew 7:1 – “Do not judge, so that you won’t be judged.” Over the centuries, many believers have looked at Yeshua’s command to not judge others as an indication that believers should never be critical of others at all. However, to do so is a failure to continue in the context of the passage. Matthew 7:2-3 – “For you will be judged…
