You're a member of the Royal Family, and after a lengthy and frankly boring fight against the enemy, they emerge victorious. They're led to glory by a few distant allies, clans to be precise, who seemed to have turned against your family.

At the front of this alliance stands a man called Gojo Satoru — with otherworldly features like white hair, and a general tall looming presence that you can't fully explain. His eyes seem to have never seen the light of day for you to even place color to them. It's always tightly wrapped with a gray or eggshell white cloth, and yet he moves the same as any other able person if not better. He seems to be faster and stronger than anyone else in this entire kingdom.

Some days you find yourself believing this yourself. You hate him but he is strong, and a strategist at heart. When you play chess with him, he's always playing the Closed Ruy Lopez, the Slav Defense, and of course, the Queen's Gambit — your personal favorite. He's always playing the long game and alas, always winning.

But mostly you think you hate him because he makes you feel less than what you were, less than god to be precise. You are Royalty — were — it's complex, but you were once always bathed in gold, and your hands were always soft because you never had to lift a single thing in your life unless it was you who wanted. But now they bear a calloused nature with bruises because you are stubborn and will not let these foreign hands touch your skin. But mostly, you hate him because you were smart. You were smart because you could be — I mean, who's to question a Princess?

But now you're talked over — walked over — by men and women alike who were previously less than dirt to you, and it leaves you reeling with enormous sadness and pure unbridled rage.

You want it back, you want it all back.

You're still a Princess, you think as you're trapped in the tall tower. You will feign incompetence, and they will believe you because who's to question a mere Princess? And then you will strategize, and you can marry or slit all of their throats — whatever works out faster, you will do.

But Gojo Satoru is cruel at heart. It may be a game of strategy that you know to play all too well, but it twinges something in you. He refuses to let you bury your father in your family grounds that have been told to hold a divine link between Heaven and Hell themselves, all because he needed to make a message and couldn't be seen to show empathy to your family — even in death.

And you're almost certain he considered just killing you but kept you strategically alive because the very first time you sneaked out of your tower before you realized you could never truly escape his eyes, you realized that his hold on this kingdom wavers greatly, and you could easily find a few allies and win the kingdom over yourself.

But it seems Gojo Satoru knew this all too well, because now you stand to be forever betrothed to the man. He announces this the very first time you win against him at chess. Maybe he knew of this and let you have a small victory as comeuppance. Now your gloating seems to akin to a player gloating over collecting pawns on the board.

After refusing to let you leave the tower, refusing to make your marriage a real one, after he married and brought in another mistress to further strengthen the kingdom after he killed your brother — your only remaining family — you think you've had enough of this indignation. You don't just feel less than god, you feel less than human, less than mere dirt.

As the days turned into weeks and then months, almost nearing a year after the war, you found yourself increasingly trapped in a peculiar dance with Gojo Satoru. His visits became a regular occurrence, and he no longer visits just for intel on the proceedings of the kingdom. Each time he entered the tower, he brought with him an array of gifts. His gifts varied from rare and exotic books to delicate trinkets from distant lands. You couldn't help but wonder if these offerings were genuine gestures of goodwill or just another move on his intricate board.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, Gojo Satoru walked into the tower. The golden hue cast across his face as he carried a small, intricately carved box. He placed it before you, and as you opened it, you saw a delicate silver pendant, a radiant sapphire at its center.

"It belonged to my mother," he said softly, his eyes betraying a hint of melancholy. "She once told me that it held a piece of the night sky within it."

You casually dismissed the pendant, fully aware of the history it carried. Throughout the kingdom, the tales of Gojo's tumultuous relationship with his mother were well-known—filled with heated arguments that culminated in her tragic demise, a victim of a mysterious poison. With a derisive snort, you sneered, "And what of it?"

"Perhaps nothing," he replied. He smirked. "Merely a token of my appreciation for our… ongoing conversations."

As the pendant lay discarded on the table, Gojo's smirk only seemed to grow. His eyes appeared to study you with an intensity that sent shivers down your spine. The year at this tower and his occasional company have driven you a bit insane. If only you could unravel the cloth that hides his eyes. You would be content. You think you could fling yourself off this tower, and you would be okay in Hell with the company of his eyes and only his eyes. You think again.

"What do you want, Gojo?" you finally spat out, breaking the tense silence. "Your trinkets mean nothing to me."

He chuckled. A low and slightly chilling sound that reverberated through the room. "Oh! But isn't that where you're wrong, my Queen?"

He stepped closer, his presence seemingly filling every inch of the space around you. You clenched your fists. His presence never intimidated you before, not when he treated you with disdain or mere dismissiveness. But now that he's trying to show and have the first conversation that holds something real, it's scaring you. It makes you want to go hide under your bed.

"I won't be swayed by whatever this is, Gojo. You should stop, and we should be as we are."

"Hmm?" He bends to look straight in your face. You wonder if he even sees you, even from under the cloth. "But I wonder, have you truly considered your situation? You're alone in this tower, isolated from the world, and your kingdom is under my control. You may resist now, and the next year, and maybe for the next 10 years after that. But what will you do when the weight of your isolation becomes too much to bear?"

He steps in closer, and closer until you’re backed up against the stone walls of your castle, “What if you go absolutely bonkers and off yourself as your mother did?”

At that, you snap, punching his chest, over and over, and yet, he remained unmoving, an unyielding monolith. You continue your trivial rampage until you grow tired, your eyes weeping blood, and your hands aching for more, but falling against your side — you’re only human and he’s — you’re not sure what he is. 

He doesn’t say anything as you you fall against his chest, your forehead resting as you think about nothing. He merely picks you up, placing you under your sheets as he kisses your forehead. His lips were as strangely tender, an unsettling contrast to the turmoil he had wrought. 

In your weariness, your eyes half-lidded. You speak up but your voice comes out as a soft whisper, “Why are you doing this?” 

"We are more alike than you care to admit," Gojo remarked. “I guess I want you to understand me as I understand you,” he replied, his voice mirroring your softness.

After that, you change. Your heart remains unwavering and loyal to yourself but you try with him, if only to unravel the cloth around his eyes. You take his gifts, with the occasional thanks. You start making requests, requests he fulfilled in excess. One time, you asked him for a rare book – one that only had about 11 copies in the world, and he got you all 11. Plus, a 12th one that seemed to have been hidden from conversations. 

And on one fateful night, that you still can’t seem to forget — a storm raged right outside the tower, casting an eerie glow through the windows that you left ajar on purpose. Satoru decided to accompany you, and the two of you found a comfortable tune in the silence. 

You turn as you feel him shuffle to sit closer to you, and as a bolt of lightning split the heavens above, he reaches up to his eyes as he slowly unwound the cloth from his eyes, revealing eyes that held the same depth as the sapphire that sits in your bureau. 

You reach up before it fully unveils his eyes to assist him, your hand sitting on his cheek as you’re halfway done. 

“Do you see me as I finally am?” He implored his question lingering in the charged air. 

But you don’t respond, merely a puppet to the moment as you inch closer and closer and closer until you feel his breath against your lips. 

That night, he lays against your body, awake as his hand caress the slope of your hip, as you finally don the sapphire he got for you as your eyes come to close.

You wake the following morning greeted with the sight of the same man offering breakfast, and as your gaze entwines with his, his eyes no longer obscured by cloth, you're uncertain how to confess to the dreams that have been haunting your sleep — dreams of a raven-haired phantom. With black eyes that seemed to eclipse his blue.

Such a chilling little speech! Even the queen dowager was unsettled by his unhinged vibe in this scene. There are so many good actors in this show 🥰

Heartbreaking, not least because of how well it parallels that moment three years ago when Mong-woo was the one on her knees, begging him to save her. But he is the king before he is anyone's uncle, friend, or lover. If that's ever going to change, he'll need to be dethroned. Fortunately almost everyone involved is striving toward that goal

This plan is completely crazy but let's not dwell on that. I appreciate that she has so many platonic male friends and co-conspirators. Obviously Myung-ha must still harbor some feelings for her but he's not obsessively clinging to the past. It seems like he has accepted that Kang Hui-soo is gone, replaced by this little gender-fluid insurgent who is amazing at baduk but terrible at real life strategy

Okay actually let's dwell on it for just a second because WHAT THE FUCK. If we ignore all the ways this could go sideways, I just want to understand what the plan, if executed perfectly, entails? This poor girl with no courtly education, comportment, or skills goes to Qing as Prince Rui's bride, pretending not to know his language so that she can spy on him with a constant risk not only to herself but of a full-scale war against Joseon should this unbelievable affront be revealed?

But whatever let's roll with it. Always love a handmaiden/princess switcharoo!

Aaaahhh how is he going to react to this news. Like how many times has he warned her he'll behead her if she goes behind his back and she just keeps doing it?? (Power move though: the more she pushes his boundaries, the more obvious it becomes that his threats are empty. And I really enjoyed her exchange with her maid earlier when she's like yes I love him and? I'll just exploit that to betray him even more. She's so vicious and I love it)

Enmu wasn't having a better time, he had been immobilized and his hip and hip bones were being tormented.

'Really? Did they think that this strategy would have even served? Maybe with Rui or with Daki or Gyutaro, but not with me!'

Well their strategy was to literally come screaming and give him a 'hug', but as soon as they got a few inches closer to him, they were immediately knocked to the ground and pinned down by Akaza.

'SOHOHOHORRY LORD AKAHAHAHAZA!! PUNIHIHISH DOUMA!! NAHAHAHAT ME!!'

'WHAHAHAHAT?! TRAHAHAITOR!! GEAHAHAHAHAHA!! NOT THE EARS!!', Akaza thought about it, if he left Enmu it was likely that he would attack him from behind, what should he do?

'Forget it! Both are guilty! So, I'll use my 'destructive death' on you'

'YOHOHOHOU WHAHAHAT?!'

'NOOOO! AKAZA-DONO! PLEASE NO!', why was Douma so worried? Was the demonic technique that bad? The most sadistic demon begging for that? wow...

Still, despite Douma's pleas, Akaza used his destructive death, running at superhuman speed from Enmu's hips to his armpits and across Douma's ribcage. Both demons squirmed and tried to push him away, not doing much, just making Akaza's fingers faster than before.

But don't worry, Akaza will set them free, they are demons and they will survive... Or maybe not... Who knows

Akito:

Akito honestly had no idea what started the fight, but he was never one to back down, especially when you were returning the aggression

It seemed to be going pretty normally, until he threw his hands up in frustration

"Holy fucking shit, what's wrong with you?? You forget yourself!-"“‘You forget yourself!’ Akito, you forget where you stand next to me. You are in my shadow; act like it. Maybe it’s not a coincidence that every single idea you’ve ever had has failed under your guidance. You are a walking second place medal.”

He was in shock. The most he could do was stand there in silence, staring at you with wide eyes. You...You didn't mean that, did you?

One look at your resolve, and he realized you weren't joking. He let out a bitter laugh, glaring at you before turning away

"You think I don't fucking know that?! All my damn life, I've been trying to prove myself. To my family, friends, fans, but especially to you." His back was turned to you, but you could see how his shoulders shook. "I guess now I know I'll never be able to."

With those last words, he left, leaving the both of you to think over the entire conversation.

Toya:

Toya didn't know how the fight started, and he wasn't going to stop to ask. His main priority was getting you to calm down

He was trying his best, keeping his voice level, but when you weren't calming down, he sighed in frustration

"Honestly, I don't know what you want from me. You forget yourself-"“‘You forget yourself!’ Toya, you forget where you stand next to me. You are in my shadow; act like it. Maybe it’s not a coincidence that every single idea you’ve ever had has failed under your guidance. You are a walking second place medal.”

He was simply frozen after that, staring at you in silence. He...He knew you were upset, but for you to say that?

He stayed silent before sighing, allowing his entire body to relax. He took one look at you, and you could see the defeat in his expression

"...I know." He looked away, that was all he could really say. He was used to not living up to people's expectations, anyway.

The two of you were left in a silent standstill, neither of you moving or saying anything.

Tsukasa:

If there's one thing Tsukasa hates, it's fighting the people he loves. He knows it's necessary at times, but he hates it.

So, his number one strategy in fights is to try to deescalate. You seemed determined to not deescalate whatsover, though

"Please, can we just calm down and talk like normal? You forget yourself-"“‘You forget yourself!’ Tsukasa, you forget where you stand next to me. You are in my shadow; act like it. Maybe it’s not a coincidence that every single idea you’ve ever had has failed under your guidance. You are a walking second place medal.”

He froze for one second, before laughing in disbelief. You...You were totally just joking with him. You had to be.

He stops laughing once he realizes you're not joking. You had meant every word, and he stared at you before huffing

"You- You honestly believe that?" Another laugh escapes him, this one sounding closer to a sob than anything. "Ha, you- I'm not taking this from you!" He turns away, mostly in an attempt to hide his tears, "...Find me when you're ready to have a proper conversation."

He leaves, and the moment he knows he's out of your sight, he falls to his knees, sobbing.

Rui:

Rui finds arguments to be pointless. They usually turn into angry screaming matches, and he really doesn't have the time for those

Of course, when the two of you start arguing, he just argues back in a far calmer tone than usual

"My my, you seriously need to get a hold of yourself. You forget yourself-" “‘You forget yourself!’ Rui, you forget where you stand next to me. You are in my shadow; act like it. Maybe it’s not a coincidence that every single idea you’ve ever had has failed under your guidance. You are a walking second place medal.”

He immediately tenses after you say that, looking as if you had just slapped him across the face instead of shouting

You...He trusted you. He loves- loved you. Was this always how it was going to be for him? Despite everything, a sad smile slips onto his face

"...Ah, I see." He stands straighter, continuing to look at you with that same smile. "...Everyone will always look down at me, won't they? Everyone will always think of me as some- As some failure, some weirdo. Perhaps this 'second place medal' should do you a favor and leave, hm?"

Before you can respond, he leaves, that smile still on his face. He wanted to cry, to scream, but he couldn't do any of that. A disgrace like him should have expected this, anyway.

Rui is a pretty laid back person so he would get along very well with someone like you. He understands if you don't like to go out very often or that you might be a home-body.

He likes to spend the rare days he has completely off from anything show related hanging out with at either your place or his and playing games with you. The whole time you guys just sit on the bed or couch enjoy the games and each other's company. He finds those days really relaxing after exhausting himself with shows and preparing for them.

When he gets to watch you play, he likes to hug you from behind and will reward you with a kiss on your cheek whenever you win a match or defeat a tough enemy.

Rui is decently good at competitive games after playing against Nene a lot in the past and is good at learning and combating your strategies when he plays against you.

🌟Tsukasa

Tsukasa often finds your relaxed nature calming most of the time. His job is very tiring, even for someone with as much energy as him, and sometimes he likes to spend some time being lazy with you to unwind.

Though he understands you'd rather be at home doing whatever you want whenever you please, he will drag out for some time together once in a while (and for you to see the sun). He is very adamant on making sure you take proper care of yourself knowing that you often play games for hours at a time without doing much else.

A common date you guys would go on would be to the arcade and having a meal somewhere afterward.

He does like hanging out with you often, even if it is to just to watch and play games with you. Tsukasa enjoys watching you and cheering you on but he sucks at playing most games but still enjoys playing them with you.

I get the feeling that Rui would really like minecraft or some other building games just because he likes to play around with red stone to build the most overly complex stuff. (Would also use those creations to troll the shit out of people on multiplayer realms)

Idk why but maybe Tsukasa would like animal crossing? He could make some super pretty island and houses. Just some thoughts, if anyone has some headcanons on what they'd might play lmk, I'm curious.

1: To the Hashira, what are your crows' names, and your hobbies?

[I don't have any names picked for the Kasugai Crows, so I won't be answering that one]

Michikatsu: I usually meditate, or work on strategy. Or train. That's when I'm not wrangling Nezuko and her friends.

Douma: If I'm not training, or wrangling the kids, then I try to relax. Meditating, the occasional hot bath, whatever I have time for. On certain days, like birthdays or anniversaries, I'll visit Kotoha and tell her about whatever updates I have.

Hakuji: I mostly focus on training, especially with Keizo. But I'm also spending a lot of time with Koyuki and we're preparing for the baby.

Nakime: I usually write music and practice with my biwa. Both for my fighting techniques, as well as to play in public. The extra money from my music is certainly not unwelcome, according to Master Kibutsuji.

Gyokko: Of course, I'm working my hardest as an artist in my spare time! Those pots won't make themselves, and I can never turn down an opportunity to release my creative juices!

Gyutaro: I usually train, and I had a chance to teach Inosuke some of the skills I learned when Ume and I were in Yoshiwara.

Ume: Well, I've been learning how to sew, thanks to Nezuko, so I practice that. And I also like to try new hairstyles, on myself or Nezuko. If it's not that, I'm usually with at least one of my brothers, and maybe training, if I feel up for it.

Enmu: I usually work on perfecting my techniques, or I check in with Master Kibutsuji.

Rui: I'm usually having bonding activities with my family. We like to play games, and stuff like that.

Tamayo: I tend to spend my free time experimenting with my various drugs and poisons. Trying to create the most effective serums I can, and I'm hoping to create something we can use to kill Ubuyashiki.

2: To the Twelve Kizuki, what are your Blood Demon Arts?

Gyomei: Namu Amida Butsu. My blood, when spilled on the earth, allows me to control it.

Sanemi: I control wind. It's easiest to control the currents I create from my wounds, but I can still control normal air currents. Makes it kinda hard for those Slayers to fight when they can't use those breathing techniques of theirs...

Giyuu: Hydrokinesis.

Kyojurou: I have the ability to construct and control flames! I most often use a sword of flames, especially against Slayers!

Muichirou: I create mist... I can't remember what it does, though... [OOC: It has varying effects]

Obanai: I create snakes. Aside from Kaburamaru, of course. They're venomous, and so am I.

Mitsuri: I have so much love for everyone, that I just draw them in! And they're all so sweet, too![OOC: She has a hypnotic aura that draws people to her, and makes them incapable of attacking her.] I can also control my flesh as needed, and I've had little kittens for companions since I became a Lower Moon! They're so cute, and they let me see through their eyes, too!

Tengen: I have the flashy ability to create and use sounds. Mimicking voices, releasing sound waves, though I prefer the latter.

Shinobu: I create butterflies from my blood, and I have complete control over them. When they bite someone, they secrete a deadly venom. It's far from a quick death, if I so desire. And I do quite enjoy watching the effects from time to time! It's so fascinating!

Genya: It's kind of weird. I can get the powers from certain flesh I eat. So I can copy Blood Demon Arts, or use the elements of Slayers' breathing techniques.

Kanao: My Blood Demon Art is similar to Shinobu's, that I create butterflies. Though, mine act differently. Anyone they bite falls under my control, and will follow my orders without question. I've even made Slayers slaughter their allies, and they can't help but follow my command.

Zenitsu: I'm fast, and I also emit electricity. And I can control the output, so I either stun or kill someone.

Turmoil in Indigo’s C-suite leaves Canadian publishers reading between the lines

A stalwart of Canadian book retailing for more than two decades, Indigo Books & Music Inc. is in a state of upheaval unlike anything the company has seen before, causing worry in the publishing industry.

In just three months, Indigo IDG-T +8.87%increase has seen an exodus of much of the senior leadership team. Since early June, its founder, chief executive officer and president have all left the company, while nearly half the board has been replaced after four directors resigned. One of the departing board members, Dr. Chika Stacy Oriuwa, said she had experienced “mistreatment” at Indigo and had lost confidence in the board’s leadership.

"The recent upheaval at Indigo is a reminder that the sector is structured “like a Jenga tower. If one block is pulled, Canadian publishers and Canadian authors, in particular, will definitely suffer."

Just a year ago, Heather Reisman – the founder and face of the company – cemented her succession plan, appointing then-Indigo president Peter Ruis as the new CEO, and declaring in a statement that by becoming executive chair of the board, she would continue “to drive Indigo’s vision and growth strategy while also remaining deeply involved in the business.”

Now, neither Ms. Reisman nor Mr. Ruis remain at Indigo, though Ms. Reisman’s husband, private-equity pioneer Gerry Schwartz, remains on the board as the company’s controlling shareholder. Indigo’s president, Andrea Limbardi, has also left, taking a new job as CEO of Reitmans (Canada) Ltd.

Until a new Indigo CEO can be found, the company’s chief financial officer and general counsel are now running the business day-to-day.

vbs: tloz. yes they were the last group to get an assignment yes i needed tloz on this list therefore it goes to vbs. imagine it was a multiplayer series. but i do think they'd like the sense of adventure and cool swords and something with destiny and partnership and the drive to overcome. toya is the best at it and likes the older games. kohane started on botw and loved it. got good fast. an likes the old ds games bc she'd play em in middle school and akito just plays what toya does.

wxs: pokemon !!!!!!!! POKEMON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its about happiness and friendship and creatures and stories and hope and CREATURES. you can't tell me they dont have doubles battles every other weekend. nene has a primarily water type team that's overall pretty balanced. rui uses abilities and trick strategies. emu finds the cute things that hit HARD (tinkaton, bewear). and tsukasa chooses the coolest looking ones.

niigo: omori. im not the first person to say this and i will not be the last. thinking mizuki streams it on call once and then they just made a thing out of it. k likes this so she can just listen to the music. ena likes the art style. mafuyu was the only one not to scream when they got to experiment 667.

9. What do they dislike most about the other?

Curufin gets annoyed with how often Rui and Celegorm fight, and how Rui will always drag him into the drama and try to get him to take her side. Rui will get annoyed if he ever sides with his brothers over her in a row, and sometimes she thinks his hero worship of Feanor gets a bit much (though she’s not likely to say it). I mean, does he have to wear a stolen burnt fragment of daddy’s bone around his neck literally every day?

10. Do they have any shared hobbies or interests? How do these things bring them together?

Yes! Hunting is a big one - they first got close during a hunting trip in Aman also that’s when they first slept together and they continue hunting and riding together in Beleriand. War games are a similar hobby. They taught Celebrimbor to ride when he was very little.

They also enjoy strategy board games and get very competitive.

48. Do they talk about their future together? Why or why not?

They tend to talk about the future the most when the present is falling apart around them. So like yes but in a very delusional way. Needless to say these plans do not come to fruition. For example in Nargothrond when Celebrimbor was on the brink of disowning them and they were about to be kicked out, they were semi seriously discussing having another baby. Because that’ll definitely fix things! These kind of delusional fantasies are a bit of a coping mechanism for them.

Ah, Zenitsu. My favorite Bi disaster. He does all the date stuff, being his suave self, (and then becomes a blushing mess when Tanjiro smiles his smile).

The Hashira are not having a good time. They are tempted to sick Rui on him, (and only because he wants a parent and not a boyfriend, so he's perfect to use).

That's the best strategy because Tanjirou would drop anything for a kid who needs him.

RPG AU Classes- Kanade

Meets up with Mafuyu to get her out of her house

Starting Class: Enchanter- Can mess around with the memories of others, works with Ena well because Ena can add her illusions, doesn't have the stamina to do much, very much a stationary magic user, buffs up her teammates as much as she can, confusion is a common status ailment when Kanade is on the field which leads to Mafuyu easily picking the enemies off

Mizuki is the one to start their party quest when they ask to go looking for Rui who they haven't heard from, Kanade fully believes WxS can handle themselves even if she does worry about them, which defeats her previous thought

Is constantly checking over the members in her party

Upgraded Class: Thoughtweaver- Can now physically pull her memories to act as barriers or attacks, did not build up anymore stamina whatsoever but Ena continues to make it look like she's in different places anyways, can also mentally communicate with the others now so they don't have to give away any of their strategies, Mizuki has suddenly started laughing more often because of this
