I think it's interesting that the new trailer tells us (or at least heavily implies) that angels and demons can't sense each other, normally. Muriel doesn't recognize Crowley as a demon, and doesn't recognize Gabriel as an angel. (Possibly Gabriel has become human, which would complicate things. But Crowley is definitely still a demon, right?)

Although, according to Neil Gaiman, Crowley can sense Aziraphale. When the bookshop burns, Crowley knows that Aziraphale isn't there, and isn't findable anywhere on Earth.

Is it just a matter of familiarity with the individual entity? Does Crowley have unusually acute senses for an occult being? ("I know what you smell like!") Is Muriel unusually un-perceptive?

Anyway, if general angelic or demonic nature isn't something that other ethereal/occult entities can pick up on via casual observation, it does support the idea that a simple appearance swap would be entirely sufficient to fool the general populations of Heaven and Hell, with no need to worry about disguising Essence or anything complicated like that.

Ineffable/unspeakable

It's established that you can make it so people can't say certain words/phrases. The whole "seamstress" conversation. What if Aziraphale has been made unable to say "I love you," and instead it comes out as "I forgive you."

That would be pretty much the most devastating kind of torture, for both him and Crowley. He tries to say it, when Crowley kisses him. And then...it comes out wrong. SO wrong, that it ruins everything. And he realizes, and knows that his only hope is to take what power is offered him, and try to make things right. Somehow.

I love how, in fanfiction, everyone either jumps to the right conclusion immediately—or to absolutely the wrong one. No middle ground.

Like, if Jason were alive and hanging out with the Batfam outside of the cape (well, Hood), no one except Bernard would jump to the "dead boy Jason Todd" conclusion. No one.

People would be arguing about whether he’s a bodyguard, a love interest, or both.

Like, you see this absolute mountain of a man standing next to Richard Hostage #1 Grayson, who just came back to Gotham for one gala, and you shrug—makes sense, the guy’s exhausted from being kidnapped.

And then there’s a paparazzi shot from Blüdhaven, taken at a nice little burger joint. There’s no music playing near you, but somehow, you can almost hear Whitney Houston singing in the background. Thousands of TikTok edits agree.

"There’s no info on the man," the article writer shares with you conspiratorially. "But he always carries a gun."

“Huh. A mystery”

“Maybe he’s ex-military. Or secret service.”

“Maybe he used to be a bad guy and is turning over a new leaf.”

“Maybe he’s still a baddie.”

And so, a new round of rumors begins.

A couple of weeks later, the buzz dies down a bit—only to flare up again when the entire Wayne family is spotted together. Only family. Even Duke Thomas, Bruce Wayne’s ward, and Stephanie Brown, a close friend of Tim and Cassandra, aren’t with them. But that man? That man is.

And not standing a respectable distance away, like a proper bodyguard or even like Wayne’s butler—no. He’s smack-dab in the middle of the group, chatting with them.

The Crow Road

I did in fact read The Crow Road because of Good Omens and it was very meandering with a lot of character study. For a thing summarized as "trying to solve a mystery from papers left behind" it was very uninterested in doing so. It didn't even introduce them for first 100 pages, then didn't refer to them for another 100, then LOST THEM ON THE TRAIN. The book itself is mostly a distraction from solving actual mystery. In no way would I classify this as being Mystery, as in the genre. This is a family saga/coming of age thing. I did enjoy it, but if you're expecting a genre fiction thing, you will hate it.

ANYWAY.

Then we get to the last 20 pages or so of the book and OH MY FUCKING GOD

the rest of this is going under a cut for anyone who actually wants to read The Crow Road themself, but for everyone else, this is directly relevant to the end of season 2, episode 6 AND is NSFW

Toward end of book, MC Prentice figures out "oh, maybe I am actually in love with my best friend, Ash, I should tell here". Oh shit, she's taking a job and moving to Canada! FUCK. Well telling her now is not gonna do anything good here, I blew it.

Ash meanwhile comes to stay with him in his rented place before having to fly out in the morning. The place is tied up in an estate dispute. It has an enormous four poster bed in a room covered in naked paintings of Venus. And mirrors. Pointed at the bed.

They go out for dinner and have a conversation of who owes who for dinner and decide its neither. They walk around a little bit reminiscing about when they were in school. Prentice had once broken her nose with a snowball and thought she didn't know. She says she forgave him right away. It also turns out she knew he was using morse code to tap out rude things at their French teacher.

They get back to the house and she says she's going to turn in early. Goes to give him a kiss on cheek. WHich then turns into kissing. and grabbing ass. They head to the bedroom of Fucking to do just that.

have a couple round and then while tangled up doing effectively some cockwarming, Ash does a little rhymic squeezing via morse code to spell out I-L-U and he does some cock moving to spell out I-L-U-T she still gets up in morning to leave, tehre's that brief, but what if I convince you to stay??? and they basically both agree "no, this is a breakup for work." Ash goes off to do her work contract, Prentice is going to finish his degree and sell the Bentley he just inherited. The split is not forever.

But good god, that ending there and the kiss there at the end of season2. OH RIGHT, THEY BOTH HAVE DONE SPY STUFF!!! What the fuck are Aziraphale's hands doing? are they frenching with morse code? I'd take this article with an enormous grain of salt because it rehashes the same flimsy "Miyamoto said this movie expands the world of Super Mario when he announced it so that means it's not a sequel" talking point.

However, the concept of Yoshi talking like a normal Yoshi while having the voice of Vin Diesel as his internal monologue is very funny.

Something is going on with the flashback sequences, and I think the Metatron must be involved. The whole second season is about memory. The angels have ways of controlling memories, at least to the extent of taking them away. I guess we don't really know whether memories can be distorted or selectively altered as well, but I think they can.

The historical flashbacks are memories. And they're full of disquieting oddness. In the 1941 church scene, the music and mood have changed. In all three of them, the things that happen seem to be putting Aziraphale and Crowley more at odds with each other, pushing them subtly farther apart.

That part is straightforward enough. But I also have a crack-y harebrained idea, based on one of the "wait and see" remarks Neil made in the lead-up to Season 2, about Crowley waking up in a Kafka story and Aziraphale being whisked away to the Land of Oz. The movie version of The Wizard of Oz is incredibly well-known. I'm sure Crowley has seen it. I don't know whether or not Aziraphale has, but I'm certain he has read the books.

In the movie, the Great and Powerful Oz manifests to Dorothy and her friends as an enormous floating head.

In the book, it's a bit more complicated. Oz is only willing to speak to one person at a time, and he appears differently to each person, so Dorothy and her friends have no idea what his real nature might be. Besides the giant head, he also appears as a ball of fire,

a lovely lady,

and a multi-limbed beast or monster.

They all seem very real, and very intimidating. We're supposed to pay no attention

to that man

I hope Gabriel has turned into a character we can love, this season. In season 1 he was the guy you love to hate, and he was wonderful as that, but the Gabriel we see in the trailer is adorable, and I hope we can continue to adore him once we know the full story.
