Very fun being on my new laptop and playing some old standard games because I crank the settings all the way up and it does not blink. I could play well on lower settings but my last laptop would get sooooooo loud and hot
Mind you I dont play a lot of high end triple a games on my computer let alone more than once since this is mostly just D3 (... Which is 12 years old????)
Gonna have to find something good to try, but I also don't wanna spend money and there really aren't that many fancy looking games I want to play. At least not unless big on sale.
Wish D4 and blizz wasn't such a shit show in general because I really have gotten a lot of good time in d2 and d3. Course it took d3 a while to get it right

One of the most practical features Streamlabs offers is the test widget. You can choose one to suit the game you play or your personal preferences.
#Obs download runescape free#
Streamlabs offers a variety of free integrated themes with multiple overlays - from casual static themes to amazing animated visuals. The chat itself has tons of perks to help you engage the audience, including a chatbot with useful moderation tools. Streamlabs lets you manage the chat inside the program. With a built-in chat function, you don’t need to keep several browser tabs open.
Add your stream key, and run the stream!.
Run the optimizer (to automatically adjust the settings).
To set up Streamlabs, complete these five simple steps: Logitech took into account the smallest flaws and fixed them - and they did a great job! The pros Streamlabs was developed as an improved version of OBS Studio. Not many would find this a huge minus, but it’s still a downside nonetheless.

Unfortunately, OBS Studio doesn’t run on Windows XP.
#Obs download runescape Pc#
If you have an audio playlist on your PC that you want to play on your stream, you won’t be able to link to those audio files as sources. There are ways to add these, but unfortunately, the plug-ins aren’t included in the standard software.

The software lacks a variety of features, like chats and customizable themes, also called overlays. The consĪlthough the OBS Studio interface is user-friendly and straightforward, it comes with a downside. It’s also compatible with Windows, macOS and Linux. OBS Studio supports live streams on practically every popular streaming platform, including Twitch, YouTube Live, Facebook Live and more. For example, if Nvidia releases an update, like a new GPU encoder or driver, OBS Studio will be among the first broadcasting programs to receive it. To achieve the smoothest stream possible, there are two options: either buy a powerful computer or use software that doesn’t put a heavy load on your system’s central processor.īecause OBS Studio is the oldest software of its kind, it receives the latest updates, features, and patches quickly. Additionally, the variety of settings lets you configure the program to meet your specs, including the frame rate (FPS).Īnother advantage of OBS Studio is its low CPU usage - an especially vital characteristic for streaming. Simply drag and drop every element of the workspace. The OBS Studio interface is fully customizable, from the position of the screen to the size of the windows.

Because anyone can review the code at any time, it also means bugs and glitches get resolved quickly. It is open-source, which means developers can create customizable plug-ins and awesome effects. Open Broadcaster Software was officially released in 2012. So it’s no surprise that Streamlabs and OBS Studio have almost the same code, except for a few tweaks. This free, open-source, high-performance broadcasting program is considered the precursor to all modern streaming software. 👉 OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster Software)Įven if you’re new to live streaming, you may have heard about OBS Studio. They are free to use, and you can start live streaming immediately. Streamlabs and OBS Studio rate highly on each of these factors. When choosing broadcasting software, the three main characteristics to consider are compatibility, performance and price.
Add a green screen and other video effects.
Play a pre-recorded video over your live stream.
It transforms (or encodes) the video into a format that allows for broadcasting (streaming) on the internet.Ī major feature of streaming programs is live mixing, which lets you do the following during your live stream: Streaming software enables you to live stream your videos. 🤓 First things first: streaming software basicsīefore we compare the key features and characteristics of Streamlabs and OBS Studio, let’s cover the basics of broadcasting - or streaming - software. This article will help you decide which one is better for you. Although the apps are similar, they have different pros and cons. Nearly every streamer on YouTube, Twitch and Facebook Live uses one of these programs. The two most popular options for live streaming software are OBS Studio and Streamlabs. To live stream, you absolutely must have two things: a stable internet connection and a broadcasting app or software.

Thinking about the early 2000s. Pictures taken with a film camera. Waiting hours for something to download from the internet. Crowding around the bulky family computer to play with your sibling or friends.
I’m aware you don’t have to download runescape, the pictures are from separate occassions. I wanted them to play runescape because it’s funny.
(I’ve been thinking about drawing a photo album series of the turtle family, but it’s a rather ambitious idea. Might just post them separately when I get around drawing any installments.)

what's the best way to play and get into old school runescape in 2024?
Get the runelite client (you can download it straight from the official jagex client these days). Runelite has a shitton of plugins that just add a bunch of quality of life, although I recommend going down the list and disabling any that sound like they won't be relevant for you since they'll add a bit of clutter with default settings. After that, just go around and have fun! I personally recommend playing Ironman mode (an option you have to enable during the tutorial that makes you unable to trade with players, the most important aspect being the community trading hub known as the grand exchange), but you don't need to if you're intimidated by it. I personally find you end up skipping a TON of content on a non-ironman account because there's just no reason to do any of it when you can buy stuff.
Don't be afraid to look stuff up, RuneScape is closest in genre to a point and click game in how many quest solutions work, ie. shit can get esoteric sometimes. Or don't! Do whatever is fun for you.
There's an in-game activity helper that can give you pointers on objectives to complete that are based on your account's abilities, so if you ever are stuck on what to do, you can check there. Have fun!

Have you played mmo's other than ff14 before/genq
yup!!! Grew up on runescape and maplestory.
I definitely had a phase as a kid where i just downloaded as many MMOs as possible and tried to play them all but never stuck with any of em for long
FFXIV is definitely the longest amount of time I ever spent on an MMO, or probably any game for that matter.

Waiting for one freind to get back. For the rest of gaming night. We all downloaded Runescape planning for like one afternoon and then quit after ten minutes. But, at the beginning, I said I might be cringe and go for the bit. I was encouraged. This is the result.

Ugh waiting for the day I have enough motivation to edit my "Neon is a Popstar AU" fanfics to fit the 2000s pop culture because I think it'll be more interesting. HxH manga also debuted in the late 90s which makes Neon a teen in the late 90s to early 2000s.
Also the nostalgia!!! Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Eminem and Avril Lavigne. All the rom-com and chick flick movies?? Mean Girls just had their 20th anniversary. Paris Hilton was the OG "famous for being famous" nepo baby. 💅💞
And the technology last time... The computer screens were bulky with the speakers not working. Burning the CDs, renting DVDs and downloading stuff overnight. Screaming at the family computer because Runescape needs to load. When the internet is down, solitaire and that pinball game is there. The flip phones and texting in short forms (pressing the buttons and missing the letter then pressing again). Going on MTV to see the latest hits and playing with the antenna of the radio. I think it'll be fun to research and look back on how things were 20 years ago.

📢byler computer game hour!📢
byler myhouse.wad AU
will and mike meet in elementary school in the early 90’s and bond over their favorite game, DOOM. Many years later, after will’s sudden death mike picks up will’s abandoned DOOM mod project of creating a replica of his childhood home —which mike then uploads to GZDoom for others to play. Upon downloading and running the file myhouse.wad, the player is met with a heartfelt passion project reflecting the lives of two “close friends” throughout each other’s lives. But as the levels progress, snippets of will and mike’s shared traumas, fears, and tragedies —as well as a hidden mirrored dimension— also begin to haunt the game, revealing not only their hardest battles in life but also the underlying love story between two men who moved mountains for each other’s happiness.
byler runescape/buying gf 1gp AU
basically byler meets on runescape in the early 2000’s as a couple of n00bs and soon become online friends, planning all their quests and adventures together and becoming so infatuated with each other —and being so unable to express it— that they both create separate “female” accounts to become each other’s runescape GFs

We Control the Narrative - On Website Eugenics, Homestuck, and Your Problematic Favs
Written by Sophia 🌀
I entered the digital realm at about 10 years old, just barely witnessing the shift from the web to apps. I played Runescape on a dusty old desktop fitted with Windows XP and would browse open forums for games I would never play. But as much as I try to remember the endless dotcom online world, works like Kate Wagner’s 404 Page Not Found expose just how far gone that era truly is. For two decades now, the internet has been gradually appropriated by a powerful few, corralling an expansive and free userbase into an easily controlled market.
Tumblr media
Kate Wagner effectively captures the fleeting memories of the open internet in a time before apps, and the "thrill of the hunt" that came from this open landscape. Any hyperlink you navigated through could have opened up into a new world; knowledge you could have never imagined, groundbreaking new media that nobody had seen before, or complete communities redefining what it meant to have a personal blog.
This quote pulled from internet historian Olia Lialina summarizes the landscape best:
“It was a web of sudden connections and personal links. Pages were built on the edge of tomorrow, full of hope for a faster connection and a more powerful computer.”
But in a post-iPhone world, the shift towards streamlined and prescribed apps neglected the web into obsolescence. Maximalism gave way to minimalism, UIs gradually deteriorated, urging you to download their new app or subtly manipulating the content that browsers would expose users to. As a 90s kid, Wagner watched this happen in the fall of MySpace, where personal archives were purged simply because it was not profitable to keep them around. For me, it was the fall of Adobe Flash, and the creative media that it took away.
Tumblr media
Adobe Flash and I go way back, with my most memorable internet experience happening on April 6th 2016, when the multimedia webcomic Homestuck released the flash video  [S] Collide as the conclusion to Act 6. Since its debut in 2009, Homestuck has become a legend of the early web; a rich and expansive digital narrative that the Atlantic dubbed “a story that could only be told online”. By blending IM chatlogs as dialogue, GIFs as panels, flash media, fully animated videos with complete soundtracks, and a one-of-a-kind narrative, this interactive site would draw in millions of users with each update and bridge the divide between forums, personal blogs, and social networks like Twitter.
Tumblr media
When Adobe Flash went down in 2020, Viz Media (having recently acquired publishing rights) made little effort to preserve this 8000+ page time capsule. This prompted fans of the series to come together to compile the Unofficial Homestuck Collection, an optimized, offline version of the original site, even offering language filters to correct its less tasteful writing choices. This was an invaluable act, but it also represents a process of corporate neglect, and this ongoing cleansing of any media online that is deemed unworthy of preservation. Wagner compared this to a series of minor Libraries of Alexandria being burned to the ground, and rich personal narratives being buried beneath a controlled legacy of human history.
“The artifacts of internet life are personal—that is, not professionally or historically notable—and therefore worthless.”
Tumblr media
Homestuck fans are split between those who recognize it as a postmodern masterpiece comparable to Ulysses, and those who would be happy to see it left in the rubble of the old web. I understand the desire to leave the unfavourable behind us, but accepting the latter narrative gives in to what Wagner called “Website Eugenics”; A process of devaluing the maximalist, often personalized and gaudy, or in some way flawed in favour of the minimalist, rigid professional class standards being set for the contemporary web. In the case of “dated” media, either cringey personal blogs from middle school or crass lowbrow humour, they will be posited as a damper on material history, when in fact it is deeply human.
Tumblr media
The more that we accept a narrative of some remnants being of value, and others being a poor reflection of our popular culture, the more that we allow an oppressive power dynamic to play out. Internet historians, archivists, and cultural commentators like Kate Wagner are doing what they know combats this agenda; revel in the legacy of the early web, retain all that you can, and do it authentically.

mcu plays rs for the ask game 😄
oo this one's so fun and sillay!!!
so so so i was hyperfixating on tony and peter and also getting back into runescape at the same time and getting my first ever skill maxed out at level 99!! and i had an idea of making a fun lil skill gifset assigning peter and tony skill levels relevant to them!! for anyone not familiar w runescape skills, there are 28 of them and the skill page in game looks like these:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
skills originally maxed out at 99, at which point you got a lovely shiny appearance on the skill page and you could get a fabulous skillcape for your character to show off your achievement [it takes so much time to grind up those levels! at level 92 youre only halfway to 99 in terms of experience numbers]. in later updates the cap was increased to 120 and more content added and so on, with an even shinier appearance. additionally, there are ways to boost or debuff skills in game and this changes the first number and the background color displayed on the skill page.
so, by editing various screenshots to make the right numbers appear for the right skills with the right levels and backgrounds and borders, i previously made THESE:
tony plays rs
Smithing: 99/99
Construction: 70/70
Dungeoneering: 85/85
Fishing: 99/74
Defence: 120/120
Invention: 120/120
peter plays rs
Crafting: 99/99
Thieving: 85/85
Herblore: 99/99
Agility: 120/120
Strength: 120/120
Slayer: 99/14
and during that time between nwh coming out in theatre and being downloadable in good quality for giffing i was sitting on several ideas for another set of misc skills for other characters like ned having a mid-high summoning level and may having low cooking!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
plus tony's ranged skill, boosted [by targeting tech] vs raw [im2 trying to shoot a gun lmao]
Tumblr media
one of these days i'll make a couple more of those sets!

Hot Take Review: Party Parrot World
tl:dr - its coot, i like it
Tumblr media
So what even IS Party Parrot World?
Basically, Party Parrot World (PPW) is the spiritual successor to Club Penguin. PPW is essentially an interactive chatroom with different locations, games, and customizable avatars. Honestly, the timing couldn't be better with the recent demise of everyone's favorite Club Penguin fan remake, and PPW is in early beta and I got the opportunity to play it so I wanted to write about it yada yada etc etc
So what did I like about it?
One of my favorite things about PPW is the music. The choice of music is limited, at least right now in beta, but.. like. Just listen.
The quality of the music is, honestly, shocking. This is some Nintendo-level music. And the fact that there are several different versions to match the different vibes of different locations on the map? Bootiful.
Tumblr media
Speaking of the map, another great aspect of the game is the different places you can go; many locations are direct callbacks to Club Penguin, such as the snowy mountain top or iceberg, and other areas are more specific to the tropical theme, like the treehouses and plant nursery.
Tumblr media
They already have a lot of outfits to choose from, so characters are very customizable even within the beta. And the games and npc's are very cute and, at times, educational? Which I think is a nice touch:
Tumblr media
For example, here is Chez Sandi who teaches you math.
Generally speaking, the game managed to keep a lot of the fun, quirky, bird-themed goodness that we enjoyed in Club Penguin.
Tumblr media
Okay, so what didn't you like about it?
Well, let's get the obvious out of the way: it don't always work.
Obviously, this is a beta so bear that in mind as I tear them a new one, but. When I play a game, I want it to work.
And several minigames, or components of those games, just didn't work.
Tumblr media
Also, every room appeared to be a prison from which there was no escape (aside from using the map to teleport lol). Walk up to a door from the outside, and you get in with no problem (aside from the loading screen for every room). But once inside, you realize that the doorknob has snapped off.
Tumblr media
The last thing I want to talk about is that the game is... well. It's 3D.
The 3D nature of the game isn't, inherently, problematic. And I'm sure some people enjoy it. And it has lots of design benefits. But at the end of the day, lots of 3D models and games end up looking.. generic. Club Penguin had a very distinct graphical style, and one that was easy for kids to emulate, which I think contributed heavily to overall community engagement. And it prevented the current jarring effect that occurs every time you play a minigame and switch from 3D to 2D when going between overworld and minigame environments.
I also think that, while 3D has a lot of benefits from a game development perspective, it has several drawbacks from a player perspective. The biggest one is the computational power required to play a game like this.
Currently, there are 2 ways to play the game: on your desktop and on your phone. And if you have a good phone or desktop there is no problem (I'm running the game on my desktop and getting 999 fps).
But one of the iconic things about Club Penguin, and a lot of the popular games from the early 2000s, was how accessible it was to the public. Sure, games like Club Penguin, Runescape, or AdventureQuest had kinda potato graphics but that meant they could run in the browser. And while running a game in the browser is a bit of a nightmare from a development standpoint, especially in regard to optimization, it is a player's dream. Because then, not only can anyone play on (almost) any computer that can access the internet, but they don't even have to download it (downloadable "viruses" are a great way to get your younger players yelled at by their parents, especially in families with only 1 computer).
Only time will tell whether or not this will truly be an issue, but often the poorest members of our communities are the ones not heard when they are excluded. And in a world that has been systematically eliminating free public spaces in real life, I'm saddened every time I see a new, exciting online space have a built-in poverty filter (*coughcough* metaverse *cough*).

Steam Next Fest October 2023
Alright let's see as many Demos as possible!
1. Ocelot Sunrise
A nice roguelite bullet hell with various levels (only one playable in the demo) and a sci fi scavengers story and a comics/borderlandesque aesthetic that makes the cutscenes very nice to look at. The background music is a bop too. Alas the controller controls are not completely implemented yet and quite clunky to use in a mixed way, however the power ups and the weapons seems really fun to play with.
7.5/10
Wishlisted
Tumblr media
2. ASTRA: Knights of Veda
On first impact a bread and butter jrpg with all the pros and cons of the genre like huge bazongas! Regardless of which category you consider them in. The artstyle in game and in battle is expecially nice with this sort of "dress-up paper doll" look that sets it somewhat apart and the cutscene style for the evil faction and the dream realm is quite good. The controls are nice and intuitive enough although it needs a mouse to click on certain things like equipment. The voice acting is good enough? I'd say but the audio levels mixing leaves to be desired in some parts. Now the cons: it required to make an account even to play the demo and it has an obligatory post download 8 gb of additional content, there are "daily reward" and buyable cosmetics but most aggravating of all (for me) there are minutes of cutscenes every 5 minutes or so of gameplay.
5/10
Not for me
Tumblr media
3. Estate Agent Simulator
The first bugged demo. The second prompt for the italian tutorial popped up with this half baked and definitely not italian way and had to restart the game in english
Tumblr media
The gameplay itself is fine? For a game like this? Certainly not particularly nice nor particularly bad but the camera bobbing is atrocious, it gave me nausea after I cleaned the first house, the game was also completely silent. I'll add a +1 for the promise of a pettable dog
4/10
Tumblr media
4. Lose CTRL
A surreal satirical you rage you lose puzzle game in which you play as Billy as he tries to climb the corporate ladder to reach a segway. The game mess with your controls and your mind in a mix between Get Over It and Brazil (1985). The split screen capabilities intrigue me although I wonder how it could work with keyboard and mouse controls. The general style is charming and distinctive but also amateurish and rough around the edges. To try, at least once.
7/10
Wishlisted
Tumblr media
5. Leila
Leila is a chill and relaxing kinda lofi click and drag puzzle game that goes back the memory lane in a coming of age(?) Tale for a middle aged woman, the titular Leila. The puzzles shown have a nice variety between styles and difficulties, and they are certainly meant for someone looking to lubricate those neurons. The art and the background music are pretty nice and the voice acting is quite good too. If you like click and drag puzzles I feel that wishlisting this one (and always trying the demo before) maybe one of your best bets so far.
8/10
Tumblr media
6. Tales from the Dancing Moon
An old-school-ish rpg inspired by runescape in which you run around doing errands for the townsfolk and at the same time try to unravel the mistery of your memory loss, the presence of a smartphone that you can use to take photos in game gives it a mild isekai flavour but not too strong based on what I've seen. The controls appear fluid enough and the sound design while not spectacular does it's job. The character creation menu is surprisingly in-depth for this kind of games.
6.5/10
Runescape wannabe
Tumblr media
7. There's Always a Madman: Fight or Flight
A text based spy adventure in which you play as this super special agent and have to choose between different options both in action and dialogue. While the story itself seems nice the absence of any voice action or any background image besides some solid background color makes the experience hoverwelmingly boring as you are left to click repeatedly thru text.
3/10
I yawned
Tumblr media
8. Rocket!
A mix between a shoot them up and a roguelite bullet hell heavily inspired by galaga and the classics. While the concept is nice and seems intriguing enough and I don't doubt it may end up garnering quite the cult following like many other niche games the controls are exceedingly hard and finicky, the spaceship appear to drift incontrollably with no apparent rhyme or reason.
4/10
Tumblr media
9. Aureole: Wings of Hope
An incredibly fun and novelty platformer/dasher game where you follow the tale of two angels while you speed and dash and jump at full force thru obstacles in the shape of a bouncy halo. The mechanics are surprisingly simple and incredibly flexible at the same time, creating a gameplay that can be adjusted to your own needs, I appreciated particularly the ability to "freeze" while you charge a jump or a dash. Despite not being a platformer lover I absolutely adored this little demo to bits, so far the only that has left me truly wanting more.
