I have a genuine question for some of the people that make ASOIAF art, why do some of you draw Arya with features that resemble mixed Stark and Tully, despite the fact that she’s literally describe as having zero physical resemblance to her mother? Like, part of the reason she’s so self conscious is because she doesn’t have red hair, not even red-brown. It’s literally brown, a dark brown according to art that GRRM approved of officially. She doesn’t have freckles, and her eyes are dark grey, like Jon, and like Lyanna. Why do people wanna draw some future Arya being taller than sansa also? Why can’t Arya just be short? Is there something wrong with being short? Is Arya just not allowed to be herself? Why does it feel like everyone is trying to change Arya from who she really is and what she actually looks like? Even the show runners completely obliterated her personality since episode 1. Like wtf? Arya is 4’0” by age 10, she has dark brown hair, sad grey eyes and grim stark face. A 4’0” 10 year old isn’t going to grow up to be 5’7”-5-9” later on. That’s just unrealistic. She’s short. It’s part of what makes her, so distinctly Arya! Part of the reason she’s so self conscious is because of her appearance and the fact that she has zero resemblance to Sansa. I want Arya to grow as a character and to learn to love herself as who she is! Short and stark as ever! I want her to accept herself as she is, and I feel like the people who try to change her, to the point that she’s not even recognizable anymore, just do not appreciate as her as a character. At most she’d probably be 5’3”. Even 5’5” is a stretch. She’s like a tiny angry kitten with messy fur lol. I think it’s adorable and idk why some of y’all wanna change that so badly 😭

As a 5’3” woman with 2 older sisters, and one younger, and a mother who are all taller than me ranging from 5’5” to 5’7”, I love the fact that I have a character I can relate to that looks different from her mom and sister and is also the short one of the family. It’s just so nice to have that lol, so yeah it’s definitely personal, and some people might find it silly, but yeah, I get mad when people try to draw Arya in a way that doesn’t even fit her description, physically wise, and personality wise. Like people do not respect her. It makes me sad honestly. Just like in the books, where people like her sister wishing Arya was different lol. Some of you are irl Sansas and it shows lmao. Let Arya be her short skinny little tomboy self who likes picking flowers and can make friends with literally anyone who’ll show her basic decency.

AP Poll: 63 Percent of US Doubts Biden's Mental Capability

A poll finds that a growing share of U.S. adults doubt that 81-year-old President Joe Biden has the memory and acuity for the job, turning his coming State of the Union address into something of a real-time audition for a second term.

More than 6 in 10 (63%) say they are not very or not at all confident in Biden's mental capability to serve effectively as president, according to a new survey by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. That is a slight increase from January 2022, when about half of those polled expressed similar concerns.

By the same token, nearly 6 in 10 also say they lack confidence in the mental capability of former President Donald Trump, the 77-year-old Republican front-runner.

For many voters, this year's election looks like a showdown for the world's toughest job between two men who are well beyond the standard retirement age. The next president will probably need to steer through global conflicts, fix domestic emergencies and work with a dysfunctional Congress.

Biden is likely to address those challenges and more in his State of the Union address on Thursday as he tries to convince Americans that he deserves another term.

Going into the big event, just 38% of U.S. adults approve of how Biden is handling his job as president, while 61% disapprove. Democrats (74%) are much likelier than independents (20%) and Republicans (6%) to favor his performance. But there's broad discontent on the way Biden is handling a variety of issues, including the economy, immigration and foreign policy.

About 4 in 10 Americans approve of the way Biden is handling each of these issues: health care, climate change, abortion policy and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. But people are less satisfied by Biden's handling of immigration (29%), the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians (31%) and the economy (34%) — all of which are likely to come up in the speech before a joint session of Congress.

Nearly 6 in 10 (57%) Americans think the national economy is somewhat or much worse off than before Biden took office in 2021. Only 3 in 10 adults say it's better under his leadership. Still, people are more optimistic about the state of their own bank accounts: 54% say their personal finances are good.

Many respondents to the survey were deeply pessimistic about their likely choices in November because of age and the risk of cognitive decline.

Paul Miller, himself 84, said Biden is just too old — and so is Trump.

"He doesn't seem to have the mental whatever to be a president," Miller said of Biden. He added that Trump is "too old, too, and half crazy."

The retiree from Carlisle, Pennsylvania, said he voted for Trump in 2020 but he wouldn't do so again.

"I don't think I'm going to vote for either one of them," he said. "I hope somebody else is available."

The president faces added pressure about his age after unflattering descriptions of him contained in a special counsel's report that did not recommend criminal prosecution of Biden for his mishandling of classified records, unlike Trump who was indicted for keeping classified material in his Florida home. The report said that Biden's memory was "hazy," "fuzzy," "faulty," "poor" and had "significant limitations."

Biden has tried to deflect concerns by joking about his age and taking jabs at Trump's own gaffes. Yet the president's age is a liability that has overshadowed his policy achievements on infrastructure, manufacturing and addressing climate change.

About one-third of Democrats said they're not very or not at all confident in Biden's mental capability in the new survey, up from 14% in January 2022. Only 40% of Democrats said they're extremely or very confident in Biden's mental abilities, with approximately 3 in 10 saying they're "somewhat" confident.

And in a major risk for Biden, independents are much more likely to say that they lack confidence in his mental abilities (80%) compared with Trump's (56%).

Republicans are generally more comfortable with Trump's mental capabilities than Democrats are with Biden's. In the survey, 59% of Republicans are extremely or very confident that Trump has the mental abilities to be president. An additional 20% are somewhat confident, and 20% are not very or not at all confident.

But if there is one thing Democrats and Republicans can agree upon, it's that the other party's likely nominee is not mentally up to the task. About 9 in 10 Republicans say Biden lacks the mental capability to serve as president, while a similar share of Democrats say that about Trump.

Part of Biden's problem is that his policies have yet to break through the daily clutter of life.

Sharon Gallagher, 66, worries about inflation. She voted for Biden in 2020, but believes he has not done enough for the economy. She also feels Trump is a bit too quick to anger. The Sarasota, Florida, resident said she doesn't have the bandwidth to really judge their policies.

"I don't pay enough attention to politics to even know," Gallagher said. "I have grandchildren living with me and I have children's shows on all day."

Justin Tjernlund, 40, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, said Biden "seems like he's mostly still there," but even if he was in decline he has "a whole army of people to help him do the job." Trjenlund said he voted for Trump in 2020 and plans to do so again because the Republican is "interesting" and "refreshing."

Still, because of both candidates' ages, Greg Olivo, 62, said he plans to focus on Vice President Kamala Harris and whomever Trump, if he's the nominee, picks for a running mate.

"Keep a close eye on the vice president," said the machinist from Valley City, Ohio, who voted for Biden in 2020 and would do so again. "Because that person will probably be the president in four years, one way or another."

The poll of 1,102 adults was conducted Feb. 22-26, 2024, using a sample drawn from NORC's probability-based AmeriSpeak Panel, which is designed to be representative of the U.S. population. The margin of sampling error for all respondents is plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.

Princess ~ Jay Halstead

This was requested by @somthingrandomhere Back in April, it’s now July (oops!) but here it is!! I’m sorry it took so long and it’s not the best but I hope you enjoy!!

Jay couldn’t help but smile as he and Adam walked through the theme park, children and families of all shapes and sizes laughing and smiling as they enjoyed their holiday. Children running up to their most loved characters, eyes wide with the biggest grins that he had ever seen.

“So what exactly are we looking for?” Adam asked as his eyes scanned the crowd, subtly taking a quick once over as one of the princesses caught his eye.

“Six foot, tanned skin, dark hair and one of the witnesses said he was wearing a blue cap with those mickey ears.” Jay recalled without taking his eyes off of the crowds around him, eager to find the guy that had been stalking the princess actors around the park, taking pictures of them and sending them to themselves the next day.

“What exactly is this guys problem anyway? Why the pictures?” Adam mumbled to himself, knowing that while it did scare the girls involved there was no evidence that any physical harm had been done, or even planned.

“I dunno man, guess he gets a kick out of scaring girls.” Jay shrugged, his eyes narrowing as they landed on a guy that fit the description, standing at the back of a small crowd that surrounded a Belle. “Ruzek, over by Belle.” He mumbled, casually nodding his head in the general direction.

“Boss, we got a guy matching the descriptions in the far right hand side, he’s watching one of the girls.” Adam spoke into his phone, Voight’s voice on the other end telling them to get the girl away without drawing so much attention, without blowing their op.

“Let’s go get ourselves a princess.” Adam grinned making Jay chuckle as they approached.

“Well don’t you look gorgeous.” I grinned as I crouched down to the little girl infront of me, no more than six years old, her hair rested over her shoulders in two long plaits while she wore the signature Anna dress. “I believe your spot is on the other side of the park princess Anna.” I winked as she grinned up at me, the missing front tooth making me ‘awwh’ mentally.

“I’m not the real Anna! My names Amy!” She giggled.

“Oh! Silly me!” I sighed dramatically, the smile never leaving my face. “Princess Amy it is a pleasure to meet you!” I grinned bending my knees in a courtesy as I bowed my head to her.

Pulling her into my side we both smiled wide as our picture was taken, Amy’s parents were stood watching with proud grins on their faces. I smiled over at them as I stood up and took Amy’s hand in my own.

“Your Royal Heignesses, here is your princess.” I bowed slightly as I let go of Amy’s hand. “I will see you soon Princess, enjoy the rest of your day!” I grinned before making my way back to the front of the long queue of children.

As I got back to my spot I noticed two officers stood just off to the side watching me with small smiles on their faces, I knew why they was there, we’d been told all about the guy that had been stalking other girls back to their homes and taking pictures of them, we already knew that there was police patrolling the park.

“Excuse me Princess?” The taller of the two stepped forwards, the children’s eyes going wide as they looked up at him.

“How may I be of assistance?” I asked, staying in the princess role.

“We need to Uh, have a talk about, uhm.” He stuttered, his eyes floating over the disappointed faces of the children in front of him.

“We just need you to approve of the new tableware that the Beast has purchased, Princess.” The other guy stepped forwards, his blue eyes watching me nervously as he bowed slightly making me smile.

“Oh of course!” I grinned before looking over at the children. “These are the beasts best knights, I’m so sorry my Princesses and Princes but im going to have to sort this out, the beast isn’t very good at this.” I stage whispered making them laugh. “I’ll be back as soon as I can, I promise.” I smiled apologetically at them and their parents before following the two officers into one of the staff buildings.

“I’m Detective Jay Halstead and this is Officer Adam Ruzek, we’re from Chicago PD.” The smaller one introduced with a smile.

“Y/N.” I smiled.

“We’re sorry to pull you away like that but our suspect was in the area.” Adam smiled apologetically.

“It’s fine, but shouldn’t you be out there catching the bad guy.” I asked.

“Our team is already on it.” Jay smiled at me, my heart fluttering as he did, he really was gorgeous.

The sound of muffled talking caught my attention confusing me until Adam pulled out a radio from his pocket.

“I’m on my way.” Adam spoke into the radio before looking over at me and Jay. “Guys done a runner, stay with her.” He said to Adam offering me a smile before he quickly left the building.

“Water?” I offered as I went over to the fridge sitting in the back corner, pulling one out for myself after he declined.

“So how long have you been doing this?” Jay asked as we took a seat opposite one another at one of the tables.

“A few months, not the career I’d imagined but I do love it.” I smiled fondly.

“You are beautiful.” He mumbled before his eyes went wide. “I mean uh, you make a beautiful belle.” He said quickly making me giggle, a slight blush rising to my cheeks at his words.

“What about you? How long have you been a cop?” I asked taking a sip from my water.

“A few years, I was in the army and when I left I still felt the need to help people so, here I am.” He shrugged with a smile.

“A real life hero huh.” I smirked making him chuckle slightly.

“Something like that.” He smirked back, a few seconds of silence fell over us until a rustle from the back room caught his attention. “Anyone else in here?” He asked quietly, his eyes watching the door to the back room.

“There shouldn’t be, the only person who uses this place is me and the other Belle’s.” I said quietly, my nerves rising.

“Any other way in?” He asked as he slowly stood up with his hand on the gun that rested on his hip.

“There’s a door round the back that leads into that room.” I mumbled, nodding towards the room where the noise was coming from.

Nodding his head he quickly spoke into his radio that there was someone else in the room before slowly and quietly creeping over to get door. I watched as he took a deep breath before throwing the door open only to be tackled to the ground by a guy that was slightly taller than he was, but in the muscles department was clearly slacking compared to Jay.

I let out a loud gasp as the man swung his fist into Jay’s side making him groan out in pain, before he quickly started to fight back, the two of them rolling on the floor until the unknown man got the upper hand, pinning Jay to the ground with his hands around his throat with his back towards me. Without thinking I quickly stood up and grabbed one of the metal chairs quietly making my way over I raised the chair above my head and slammed it down onto the guys back with as much strength as I could muster. He groaned at the impact and fell to the side in shock, he was grown of long enough for Jay to grab the gun from the floor and jump to his feet pointing it down at the man.

“Chicago PD, you move I shoot!” He yelled kicking his back to get him to lay on the floor just as Adam and two other officers burst threw the back door with their guns raised.

“Good job Halstead.” The blonde woman grinned rushing over and cuffing the guy who was still laid on the floor groaning in pain.

“Wasn’t me.” Jay shrugged with a smile as he looked over at me with a twinkle in his eye, making me blush.

“You did this?” The older guy that had just came in asked with raised eyebrows as his eyes moved from the chair lying on the ground, to the suspect, to me.

“Guilty.” I smiled nervously, relaxing as he chuckled.

“Good job Princess.” He chuckled to himself. “Sargent Voight.” He introduced himself holding his hand out towards me.

“Y/N, or Belle.” I laughed reaching out and shaking his outstretched hand.

“You know, Belle has always been my favourite.” The woman smiled as she walked over to me leaving Adam and Voight to haul the guy in cuffs away. “I’m Hailey by the way.”

“Want a picture?” I asked with a smile, knowing that the adults who came to the park were just as excited to have their pictures taken with their childhood favourites just as much as their own children.

“Yes, yes, yes.” She grinned quickly pulling out her phone and practically throwing it at Jay as she rushed over and stood beside me. “Thank you so much!” She grinned after seeing the picture Jay had taken. “I’m gunna go catch up with Voight, I’ll see you there.” She smiled at Jay before giving me a hug then leaving.

“You know, if this princess thing doesn’t work or you’d be a great cop, or wrestler.” Jay smirked making me laugh. “Seriously, that was pretty badass.” He smiled as he stood in front of me.

“I may be a Princess Mr Halstead, but I’m not a damsel in distress.” I winked with a laugh, our eyes making eye contact.

We stood in silence for a few seconds, just looking at each other while a blush crept its way from my chest to my cheeks as his blue eyes sparkled.

“I might be completely out of order right now, but uh, would you maybe like to Uh, get a drink sometime, with me, I mean, ya know, if the beast doesn’t mind.” He stumbles over his words which made him approximately ten times cuter than he already was.

“I’d love to.” I smiled with a giggle as I reached into the hidden pocket on my dress and pulled out the booklet I used to give autographs to the children. I quickly scribbled my number and ripped the page out handing it over to him. “Gimme a call sometime Detective.” I smiled with a wink before making my way to the door.

“You got it, Princess.” He smirked with a nod, I offered him one final smile before I made my way back out to the park, the thought of seeing Jay again keeping the smile on my face for the rest of the day.

Unfortunately this might also mean that sometimes the ships might not be the most accurate but I hope you understand!

- For reference, if you want the most accurate ships, the groups I stan or know best are: Pentagon, BTS, Twice, I.O.I, NCT, Itzy, Red Velvet and Blackpink.

so I'm a cis girl, probably straight but you can ship me with anyone like it doesn't bother me or anything :)

I'm 1,60 m and I'm not sure about this feet thing but I'm guessing it's like 5'3? I have blonde hair, almost breast length but a bit shorter I guess and I have very white skin

I wear glasses (I have an extremely bad sight like I can barely see without them) and I have brown-greenish eyes tho they kinda look different in every light

I rarely wear makeup, only to special events and even then it's not much

I'm not even sure whether I'm introvert or extrovert, it kinda depends but I'm definetly socially awkward and really bad at meeting new people, around my friends I talk a lot though

speaking of talking I talk very fast and tho I live in germany I love talking english, much to the annoyance of everyone around me

Babes in Mimeland || Nora & Jared

Timing: This past week sometime.

Description:

Triggers: Mimes?

Jared wasn’t completely comfortable to be away from the farm that day, but he’d given his word, and he wasn’t going to go back on it. Surely everything would be fine for an hour or two while he did this. So there he stood, in a t-shirt that implored passing customers to support the performers behind him. He was holding flyers and smiling as wide as he could whilst flagging down passers-by to take them. A mime he’d started to consider a friend had mimed that he should come and help them out that day, the mime in question part of an air-band as a side hustle for working at Yours, mime, and ours (where Jared was a frequent customer). “Don’t forget to support your local mime performers! They’re good at what they do and they have mouths to feed at home whilst working on their passions!”

A music box was an odd reward Nora decided twisting the box around in her hands. The eyeball, a necklace that she’d taken to wearing frequently, was a much more satisfactory prize. Nora was about to flip open the prize she’d come to winterfest to claim when her eye was caught by the mime band. Oh great! They were performing. Music box forgotten and shoved into her pocket, Nora trudged through the crowd to admire the artists at work. There were no hard feelings on her part that her last encounter with a mime had left her rainbow colored for a week. There were hard feelings to deal with on her part with the idea that her favorite mime had died right in front of her. Ideas that she refused to acknowledge. A shout about helping mimes made her ears perk up. Nora snatched a flyer from a giant, glancing over it. “I want to help.” She announced. “The mimes are great.”

Most people passing Jared by were trying their very best to ignore him, he watched many fliers find their way into the trash. It was a little disheartening but overall expected, you didn’t have shirts like the one he was wearing unless there was some serious stigma going on. His head tilted down and a more genuine smile bloomed on his face as someone actively approached to take a flier. “They are! One of my friends is in the band, they’re honestly great at what they do and everything helps, people in town aren’t so forgiving for being different…” he trailed off before he could add just how strange he found that considering the variety of species that you could find in all corners. Jared blinked away the thought and returned to focus on the person showing interest. “So-” He was cut off by an obnoxious laugh off to the left towards the gingerbread house. He couldn’t quite hear what was said but the way the group of people mock mimed along with the band rubbed him the wrong way. His face soured.

Friends? With a mime? Was that legal? Wouldn’t that be like being friends with mythical legends who are way cooler than you? Like the real babadook or maybe the boogyman? Even goatman. They were all famous figures Nora admired but wouldn’t know how to befriend if they were before her. It was a sudden moment of awe as her blank gaze passed between the giant and the band. If she helped could she be friends too? Nora dug in her pocket and pulled out her beaten up old wallet. She was ready to pay a large sum of money before laughter met her ears and she could see a group of adults, probably in their late to mid thirties, making fun of the mimes. A different way to help crossed her mind as she watched them enter the gingerbread house. “What if we scared them?” Nora asked, her monotone making it sound like a serious and reasonable suggestion. “Make a point that people can’t keep mocking mimes because they are quiet.”

He’d forgotten what he’d planned on saying next to the other when she piped up with an idea. Jared looked after the group as they laughed and joked at the expense of his mime friends before heading into the gingerbread house. He nodded slowly before deciding it was a perfect idea, no amount of money fixed hurt feelings, but a little bit of revenge might. “Yeah, yeah that’s a good idea. People are always doing stuff like that.” Jared frowned and tucked the fliers into his back pocket, ready to so what it took to have those meanies regret their choices. “Let’s do it.” he said only pausing a split second before moving towards the gingerbread house (that had already closed its door on the group, trapping them) to ask “What’s your name anyway? Since you’re leading the charge, what’s the name of the commander? I’m Jared.” he offered preemptively.

Commander? Nora liked being called a commander. She could see it now, a field of dead bodies around her as she stood tall, proud on a rock, wearing a military jacket. There’d be some life in the people somewhere, and they would be full of fear. Life changing fear. The kind of fear that made for a meal instead of just a snack. She’d paint that picture later. “Nora.” Nora answered, her affect betraying nothing of the mental spiral she’d just followed. “Are you good at scaring people?” Nora hadn’t noticed the door close behind the other group. She pushed through the crowd and to the door, pushing it open and holding it for the giant - er - Jared. She wondered if he’d hit his head on the door frame. This Jared, friend of mime, was about to see things. She hoped he’d enjoy them as a fellow lover of mimes.

“I’m not sure, Usually it’s by accident, but I could try and make something work.” He wondered briefly if he could get away with using his glamour to help spook the group, without his partner in crime noticing. It would be far easier to do some scarring in the name of the mimes if he could make himself look like he had stripes like some sort of angry chameleon. Jared ducked in the door that was held open for him, and it pulled shut behind him. The inside was dark, the windows were as they tended to be on small gingerbread house kits that you could buy at the store, the windows were painted on in icing rather than cut out. It was pitch black aside from the gaps around the edges where the icing hadn’t fully sealed the walls in place. The group were in the next room of the house whispering now that it was dark as humans tended to do, as if the dark was suppressing any noise. Using the quiet he mimicked one of his kids' cries as loud as he could just to start them off. The angry call of a bies sounded from his lungs abruptly and clearly for a singular second before cutting off to return to silence again.

The noise that came out of the giant’s mouth was absolutely brilliant. Loud. Jarring. Inhuman. No animal Nora could recognize. She gave one slight nod of approval. Maybe this stork, now nicknamed for being a giant bird and not just a giant, accidentally scared people more often than naught. Reaching inside herself, Nora lit the string of her magic. Her fingertip traced across the gingerbread walls as she walked. Icing started to coat her finger but she ignored it. Instead she concentrated on making the screeching noise of steel on steel. She’d seen it cause the hairs on people’s neck to rise. She hoped her cover of dragging her finger would be enough to fool new friend Jared. She’d claim it was a party trick or something. Damn, she really hated frosting.

Jared extended his glamour past his usual skin cover to also alter his clothes just that little bit, the mime shirt was a little too telling after all. Instead he added stripes subtly in the darkness, only really put in place for his own peace of mind rather than for any impact. He hoped it was too dark for anyone to notice, so that he didn’t have to explain to Nora either. The noise she was making sent a chill up his spine as well for a half a second before he settled into it, it was easier knowing where it was coming from...sort of. He had no idea how she was doing it, but he was certain it was Nora doing it at the very least, no other way a gingerbread house could make that noise. The group were muttering to each other, clearly unsettled as they headed into the next room trying to find the backdoor to escape. Jared spotted a runner rug down the hallway, so he stooped to tug on it and send the last straggling person flying into the rest, holding back a snicker as they toppled like bowling pins.

Was the stork looking a little stripy or was it the shadows of the gingerbread house? It wasn’t very well lit. Probably because it was made out of ginger and not wood. Nora found herself wishing she bore the strips of those they came to protect. An illusion manifested itself across small patches of her clothes; black and white alliance patches. The group they’d followed in were becoming less of a snack and more of a meal. Nora took a deep inhalation in, enjoying the rewards of Jared’s carpet tug. They piled to the ground obviously scared of what was going to happen. “Where’s the exit?” One shouted. “I-I don’t know, I don’t see any. How can this place be this big?” Panic made their voice high pitched and frantic as they shouted over Nora’s noise. She let the noise fall, leaving them and their prey in a sudden silence. “Boo.” Her monotone was briefly followed by an illusion monster appearing behind them. Black and white stripes mime meets masked monster with a giant maw and sharp rows of teeth. It gurgled towards the fallen group. Slowly. Leaving a trail of stripes behind it as it went.

Jared was unaware that it was Nora that had created the mime monster, he himself had seen the mimes do some incredible stuff so he wasn’t put off at all. It was a mask of only a slight surprise, thinking that they might have stopped performing to aid in this situation for themselves. This is why when a striped goo seemed to seep in the cracks of the gingerbread house (to form into another more ‘traditional’ looking mime on the ceiling) he didn’t even flinch. This mime turned it’s head like it was an owl to look down at the monster curiously for a split second before scuttling down the wall towards the now scrambling pile of humans. Jared flattened himself against the wall of the gingerbread house and increased his glamor in the moment to look more like the mime that had appeared on the ceiling, although not able to move his head like it had. He didn’t have quite the same energy, but he tried his best. The group screamed and swore and scrambled past Nora and Jared being chased by both Nora's creation as well as the mime who had come to see what was happening, only to be delighted with its findings.

This scene was beautiful. Perfect. Picturesque. The gaggle of bullies trying to run away. The mime manifesting. The illusion chasing, gurgling, gnashing its giant teeth. Nora was almost satisfied with the scene and the meal but it was missing something. A soundtrack maybe? Oh. She had the music box. Maybe that would add some ambiance to the whole shindig. It took a minute to windup the old box. It popped open displaying a couple wrapped in each other's arms dancing an eternal waltz. The music began, gentle, haunting, almost mournfully and her eyes fixated on the waltzing couple. She was met with an absolute need to waltz. Carefully she placed down the music box and held her hand out to Jared’s, the silent question to dance. A question that only had one answer as everyone around them started waltzing together. The gaggle were screaming in terror now, practically drowning out the beautiful music. “Why are we dancing?” Why can’t we stop dancing?” “Why am I dancing with a mime?”

The screaming had drowned out the ticking of the small music box winding up, so when the tune started Jared almost didn’t notice his body was moving towards music. Taking Nora’s hand they began to dance through no action of free will. The screaming did not die down, it seems the music was taking their movement alone, their voices would remain their own. Spinning around the room he was sort of delighted to have noticed that one of the group of humans had paired with a mime, who had turned its head all the way around again to watch the scene unfold in full rather than focus on it’s partner. “What kind of music box is that?” Jared asked Nora, his voice only faltering when her platform boots came down on his toes, yelling over the screams and panic of the humans with as wide a smile on his face as he could muster. Acting as is if the extra noise was only part of the song. He suspected magic, but he didn’t want to outright ask.

“I do-” Nora had never been good at dancing, and despite the dance being magically pre-choreographed for them, that didn’t go away. “Oh sorry.” She mumbled. “I don’t know anything about the box.” Nora nodded at the mime as they twirled past the beautiful friend. “It was the reward I got for getting second place.” First place shouldn’t have won. Her art was masterful. Oh well. Beggars couldn’t be winners. But apparently second place could be dancers. “I wonder how long it lasts.”

The screams and music could be heard by passing townsfolk for a while and they all ignored it, as was usual in white crest.

hey kids! i’m so excited to be able to tell you about our upcoming trip to universal and the house point competition.

during the trip you will all be expected to share rooms with members of your house, so while you may chose your own roommate (or two) you better show some house pride and find a friend in the same house as you. a full list of everyones houses can be found here (x). your roommate choice should be submitted to me by monday the 26th of april or you will be randomly assigned one by the school. the rules for the trip will be posted by one of the deans in the upcoming days.

while this trip is an opportunity for all those at Devereux to have fun and let loose there is also an educational aspect to it, though you will not be assessed the school is issuing a house points challenge with an opportunity to win a variety of prizes. points can be earned by completing tasks that reflect your learning this year, as well as by socialising with your fellow students and generally engaging in D/s culture. points can be won both next week during your week free from lessons and also during the trip at universal. the opportunity for earning points ends on the 9th of may 2021. you will notice that we have randomly selected prefects for each house from the Dominant members of those houses. these prefects as well as your heads of houses have the power to take away house points should you break any of the rules while on the trip.

The Prizes

the all members winning house will all be allowed to chose their roommates for the rest of the year (the roommate must be of the same designation) , and receive free tickets to the museum and aquarium for the rest of the year.

- our top points earner will be given the opportunity to live in one of the empty suites in the teacher accommodation will be decorated to their specifications with a roommate of their choice for the rest of the year. - our first runner up will be given one of the empty trial claim suites to share with a roommate of their choice. - the third runner up will win a weekend mini break to the grand empire with four friends.

All things should be tagged with devereuxhogwarts and posted in the house points channel on discord. while the last chance in game to earn points is the 9th of may, you have until the 16th to turn in any paras. the winners will be announced as soon as the points are counted.
