If we had to lose ansu or Ferran this summer who would you choose to leave and why?

This question is something that I had to think about all day. I will say the reason why either one should or shouldn't leave. BUT I think it will probably be Ansu if anyone has to leave, this is why:

Ferran is still not paid for, FcB is still paying Man City,so, that means when it comes to fair play and such, we would gain nothing from selling him. FcB would probably need to sell him for $40m to break even anyway. The only that we would not be paying his salary and would free a bit on the wage salary cap. Ansu is an academy player, which means he comes at zero cost so he generates fair play (this is good for getting new players to the team) plus he would also free his salary, which is more than Ferran's. Now, when it comes to tactics, THIS SEASON, not a whole or profile of player: Ferran is better presser and defender of the two, usually associates and assist his teammates better as a whole although Ansu can also do this last part well when he's having a good day (like the Real Sociedad away game). Ferran can play more positions than Ansu. Ansu plays Left Wingers and Center forward although he is not very good a center forward. Ferran can play LW, RW and false 9 (false center forward). Although Ferran is better at RW that area has too many players (Dembou/Raphinha) and if he stays will barely play there. Ansu in a natural Left Winger and he is the only one that Fc Barcelona has but if Ansu leaves that space can be filled by Abde, who's coming back from a loan in Osasuna and also we are not using as many left wingers bc we are somtimes using a midfielder (Gavi, Pedri or Sergi Roberto) as a false left winger. When it comes to scoring when it good shape physically and mentally , Ansu is better than Ferran, he's a very natural goal scorer. Also, Ansu is faster when he is best form. They are both very popular in the dressing room and get along with everyone, although I would say Ansu is more popular. Ansu could probably generate more money when it comes to merch when he's in good form vs Ferran and is more marketable as a La Masia kid as well. He's a La Masia prodigy and is loved by culers. Now, out of the two Ansu would probably generate more income and offers than Ferran at the moment. Most people are aware Ansu's problem is mental, not physical and also the lack of playing time. Although he always plays it's usually less than 10 minutes, which is not enough. Although sometimes Ferran gets the same and seems to be more focused and engaged than Ansu. So, for me, Ansu is probably the one who's gonna leave IF someone has to leave. It will be sad if either leaves.

Bronze to Mythic, Wilds of Eldraine draft #10

Drafted my seat poorly, played not great, got unlucky, went 4-3. Le sigh.

Pack 1, pick 1 Redcap Gutter Dweller, nice to start with a broken rare! Pick 2 Two-Headed Hunter, but I think I should have taken Minecart Daredevil, and there was also Syr Armont, Hamlet Glutton, Stockpiling Celebrant... It was a pick to stay in red, though. Pick 3 Frantic Firebolt over Grabby Giant, and again I probably should have reversed them? Pick 4 Minecart Daredevil over Asinine Antics, Kellan's Lightblades, Stockpiling Celebrant... Again just picking red cards since nothing else looks insane. Pick 5 Gallant Pie Wielder which I'm not super thrilled about in a week pack over maybe Spreading Seas? Pick 6 another Pie Wielder over Bellowing Bruiser and Brave the Wilds. Pick 7 complete brick. Pick 8 Witch's Mark. Pick 9 Bellowing Bruiser. Pick 10 Minecart Daredevil, which I almost picked pick 2. Red seems open, I had some inroads to blue that I passed up, and I did pass on a Brave the Wilds.

Pack 2 pick 1 Cooped Up on a really good pack: Mosswood Dreadknight, High Fae Negotiator, Hamlet Glutton, Kellan's Light Blades, Flick a Coin, Sweettooth Witch... Probably should have taken the Dreadknight (along with different cards in pack 1) and been Jund. Pick 3 Hopeful Sigil over Candy Grapple, Threadbind Clique, and Shrouded Shepherd. I think I had RW blinders on. Pick 3 Stockpiling Celebrant over Monstrous Rage and Cooped Up. Pick 4 Tattered Ratter over Minecart Daredevil and Flick a Coin. Pick 5 Tattered Ratter over Ferocious Werefox, Prophetic Prism, and Redcap Thief. Got a nice Knightly Valor 7th, and passed up on another Prophetic Prism 8th.

The real problem here is that I saw Redcap Gutter Dweller as a RW card, and really tried to go in that direction when it wasn't really there.

Pack 3, pick 1 Imodane Recruiter, which made me feel better about being RW, but really it would have been great in any deck I could have drafted. Pick 2 passing Agatha's Champion...I'm done looking at this draft.

I didn't hate my deck, despite seeing all this evidence in hindsight.

I was off to a quick 1-2. First loss, I just kind of flooded out, and they kept the gas flowing with Ingenious Prodigy X=7.

Second loss, I learned that Belligerent of the Ball's bonus is target creature, not just itself. It was Cooped Up, but a trigger ended up leaving me dead on board later in the game when I thought I was going to win. That loss hurt.

Third loss I kept a pretty questionable 2-lander and missed a couple land drops. I still got to Coop Up Yenna, Redtooth Regent. My opponent didn't seem do be doing much, but they ended up getting to Shatter the Oath on my Cooped Up. I think I should have passed up developing my board because they really didn't do much at all outside of casting Yenna, and just exiled it, since Yenna can do some gross things. Ended up being a complete disaster, and lost a few turns later. Bad play on my part.

It is really hard to play Magic with new parent brain.

Chapter 16 - Through the Trapdoor

Harry Potter and the Sacred Text word of the day: Destiny

Tbh I don’t know if I believe in destiny or fate at all. I have an odd level of belief in fate, like sometimes I think things are meant to happen but other times I don’t lol. Though it might be more accurate to say that I believe that our actions today outline what will happen in the future... kind of like a choose your own adventure in a way. But enough of trying to wrap my mind around what I think of destiny lol, the main question for this chapter is: was Harry always meant to go through the trapdoor?

It’s interesting to think about since Harry had promised himself he wouldn’t meddle in anything that wasn’t his business after the Norbert mess, but then he found himself caught in the Sorcerer’s Stone business again soon afterwards because of the events in the Forbidden Forest. Harry didn’t have to meddle more and instead just trust that the professors knew what they were doing, but he made it his concern when he found out that it was Voldemort who wanted the stone. It’s like whenever Voldemort is involved, it automatically becomes Harry’s business. Funny how that works out ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I wonder why McGonagall never pressed the issue of how the trio knew about the stone, because that’s a serious break in confidentiality to whoever told them, assuming only those Dumbledore trusted to protect it know. The trio telling her what they know potentially could have avoided the necessity for them to go down the trapdoor too. It just reminds me of current events of how children are taking things into their own hands to make governmental changes, like with gun violence and the climate crisis. While it’s amazing that they’re doing this they shouldn’t have to. Children shouldn’t have to be in the front lines when it is the responsibility of the adult be there instead.

Back to the topic of destiny, we also have to consider that Firenze asked Harry do you know what’s hidden in the school right now like he already knew that Harry knew about it, as if the stars foretold that Harry would go through the trapdoor. The various tasks protecting the stone were also perfectly catered to the trio. Flitwick’s challenge with the flying keys was simple for Harry the Quidditch Prodigy, McGonagall’s transfigured chess challenge was perfect for a chess master like Ron, and Snape’s potions puzzle was easy logic for intellectual Hermione. I liked the point the hosts of the podcast made about the defeated troll, how the trio already beat one together so they didn’t need to do it again. It feels like an accumulation of their newly built friendship that began with a troll attack, having a similar challenge already completed calls back to that moment which started it all.

The Devil’s Snare one is an interesting one to pick apart. This took all three to complete: Hermione, because she isn’t great at doing things with immediate dangers around her, could only remember that Devil’s Snare likes the dark; Harry then suggests to use fire; and Ron reminds Hermione that she can use magic lol. But the hosts mentioned something that I never thought before: what if Neville was meant to go with them and this represents a destiny unfulfilled? Neville confronted the trio as a final show of his growth in his first year (as is said later, standing up to your friends is a lot harder than to do so to your enemies), and the trio have the option to take him with them, but they choose not to. It’s known that Neville likes herbology, so the Sprout’s challenge would have been perfect for him. But maybe this instead means that Neville isn’t ready for these kinds of adventures yet since we don’t know how he would have reacted to landing in Devil’s Snare or to the other challenges. For all we know, he could’ve frozen up like Hermione at that moment. Maybe Neville just always represents what could’ve been, because he also had the potential to become the Boy Who Lived.

Since the hosts talked about the chess pieces and their meanings, I wanted to look them up to see if I can find anything else. Harry is a bishop, the third most important piece after the king and queen but it has limited movement which leaves it vulnerable to attacks from straight on. In Medieval Europe, the bishop was second in line with the king and queen, so in this line of thinking, Dumbledore could be considered the king. Bishops are usually considered stronger pieces toward the end of the game, which makes me think of Harry’s role in defeating Voldemort being more and more in the front lines with each book. Ron is a knight, who protect the king, queen, and bishop. The knight in chess offers the most chance for variety and uniqueness and is the most unpredictable because of how it moves, which allows them to cover any weaknesses. Ron is Harry’s right hand man, the person who stands by and protects him. Hermione is a rook, which represent the castle's walls that protect the king, queen, bishop, and knights and they are stronger than a bishop or knight. Hermione is an incredibly powerful witch and she is also the glue that keeps the trio together. Also interesting is the role of the pawn, which can be promoted to another chess piece if it reaches the opposite side of the chessboard. I would say that Neville represents a pawn, seemingly disposable at first, but can develop into something greater if you hang on to it.

I also want to take a moment of appreciation for Ron, since he didn’t skip a beat to say “will it cover all three of us” when Harry said he’d use the invisibility cloak to get to the third floor corridor. Harry’s instinct is (and continues to be) to do things on his own, since he had to grow up relying on himself alone. But Ron is almost always there to be like dude we’re doing this together.

I will always love the interaction between the trio when they’re facing the Devil’s Snare, like

I also really like how this chapter transitions to the next. Talk about a page turner lmao

SO in my for-the-serotonin take that we constantly poke at here, there are Actual Gods present (based off of the existence of the Void Worms, spun a lil more wildly outwards into world-building). they had been forgotten or forsaken by a lot of the population in favor of their little man-made gods aka the Iterators

the only places where the faith in them survives are the ones where the folk culture persists still. so Sparrows is technically a pagan! this whole eradication of the original local believes happened as a result of religious colonization of the whole world by a culture originating in The Wellspring. think what happened in Europe with pagan believes and christianity

this came to me when i realized how fuckin weird it is that the ENTIRE planet went through with the Mass Ascension. where's the cultural variety? Somebody would have resisted, somebody would have stayed- some branch of culture and belief would have looked at that n wouldve gone "are you stupid what the fuck, that's not how That spiritual aspect Works. get lost with that" because the religions just wouldn't match

Sparrows' past life consisted of studying and fucking around with technology a lot, so when she was born as the person we know her as now, she was a techie prodigy

just like in actual Buddhism, person's karma at the end of their life determines where and as what they will be born. Sparrows sucked at the religion shit in the past life as well so she was born into lower, less comfy life than her previous one. and just like in actual Buddhism, an Ancient can be reborn as an animal or a plant if they sucked with their karma REALLY badly across multiple lives

Explanation on their designs below the cut:

The Martyr (LTTM) - He's very tough, more cold resistant and capable of surviving one or two lizard bites even due to his sheer size, which makes him very slow. In addition, kind of like Saint, he is completely passive and cannot kill creatures.

The Prodigy (FP) - Very quick and also fully carnivorous! Her fur is very light so she has to use her food pips in order to glow and warm herself up. Can maul like Artificer while having the strength of Monk. You'll mostly be chasing bat flies with her.

The Sage (SRS) - They are completely blind so you navigate the world and map using your hearing and other senses. It looks like you are in pitch darkness in shaded with the iggy effect when it shows you the surrounding area. You can see every creature on the map that's in the room with you or the next one. She can also make pearls using rocks!

The Nomad (NSH) - Always moving from one area to the next, you can’t rest in the same shelter twice, unless you exit the area and come back. She can also camouflage kind of like white lizards do and crouch move while camouflaged.

The Judge (GW) - The Judge doesn’t ascend every creature. He’s relatively fast and has strong spear throws. If you are killed with the Judge, next cycle the creature will be marked for you on the map at all times. If you ignore the mark The Judge loses karma and vice versa gains one karma if you commit to the kill.

The Acolyte (UI) - He’s small and emits light with which he can befriend certain creatures and gain protection from them! He crawls slower than average and can only carry one item ar a time, because of his missing hand, but jumps higher.

VERSES CONSTRUCTION IN PROGRESS !

PERS/ONA 5 : so my ideas for this verse is that ren is the son of a monk and works at the meiji shrine. they’ve developed a liking for the temple cats and take care of them. ren attends kosei high, and participates in the martial arts club. their verse set up will be organised like that of a collaborating confidant, with ten ranks. ren is aligned with the empress arcana. ( i’ll be designing ren a persona and outfit based on mulan for fun, but that won’t be the official verse. )

SHIN/GEKI NO KYO/JIN : ren graduated with the first rank in the 103rd training corpse, which were still in the middle of training and months to graduation when wall rose was breached. ren lived towards the outer edge of wall rose in a small hunting village, after losing their mother to illness they lived with their father until they were met with a hunt gone wrong. traffickers after those with asian blood attacked them both while li told ren to run, and they have since been separated. ( created to interact with megan’s ( @tsuyoius‘s ) mikasa !

KING/DOM HEA/RTS : ren originates from mulan’s world, known in kingdom hearts as ‘ the land of dragons. ’ when the worlds were lost to darkness during the early timeline, their world was one of those engulfed and ren was stuck in one of the worlds between. although, instead of finding a means to go back when it became available, they instead decided to learn how to go out and travel other distant lands, although the land of dragons acts as ren’s home hub.

NI/ER : AUTO/MATA : this verse follows the theory that the flower from drakengard iii made it into tokyo prior to nier, disguised as a lunar tear. the flower is parasitic, and ren has absolutely no memory of how it came to take hold of their eye. this is because upon the destruction of their os ( operating system ) chip, the flower latched onto ren’s circuitry and healed them. ren now fights with a growing need to cause rampant destruction, slowly corrupting their system. ren is an older scanner model.

BN/HA : they are a recent graduate and pro hero, under the alias psydra. ren’s quirk is called mana manipulation, allowing them to physically manifest their life force into both physical and non physical forces like shields, energy beams, and platforms. unfortunately, their stock of energy is extremely small, which means they’re only capable of using these abilities for a short amount of time. during their time in schooling ren started off in the technology support division, but after their sports festival arc was moved up to the hero classes.

OTHER VERSES THAT I’VE JUST FORGOTTEN TO ADD. ( created and / or developed alongside enablers inspirations. )

PHOTOGRAPHER AU : created alongside latte’s ( @mosaickly‘s ) model au. an eccentric and talented media student hired as an apprentice photographer for a modelling agency. they’re sometimes roped into make up, costume design, and in very rare occasions as a model themselves, due to ren’s versatile androgynous appearance.

GHOST HUNTER ( INSPIRED BY BUZZ/FEED UNSO/LVED ) AU : also created alongside latte, ren is a bored university student who hunts ghosts and demons in their local area for fun, uploading the footage to youtube. weiss is their roommate who initially came along to make sure ren didn’t get in trouble, but started to get involved in the research aspect of the hunts. they harbour a cat in their dorm against the rules she named pumpkin, who they found on a hunt. also paired with rice’s ( @basedmercury‘s demonic au. )

DRAGON SHIFTER ( INSPIRED BY HTTYD ) AU : created alongside shi’s ( @becomeshield‘s ) dragon hunter turned dragon rider au. the lore is that dragons are more magical, hybrids capable of magic can shift from beast to a humanesque appearance. humans are currently unaware that some dragons can shift into a humanesque form, or are capable of human speech as it is forbidden to show a human your more vulnerable form. ren was separated from their clan, and shot down by jaune into glade where they wait while their wing heals.

INFA/MOUS SECOND SON AU : created to interact with riley’s oc ( @sparkdrive ) ren is a gemstone conduit ( with a preference for jade, ) who has not been outed as one yet due to their subtlety and quiet nature. but they do aid other conduits in escaping suspicion from the d.u.p. ren does know that this is a slippery slope, and that it only takes a few mistakes to become wanted, but they’ve since lost any collateral they could use against them.

RW/BY RO/CK AU : prior to meeting their team, ren led a double life as a classical piano prodigy but would also do concerts and gigs as a masked underground performer. it was partially due to their lack of stage presence, as well as wanting to keep their genres, and personas different. ren’s style is less rock, and more along the lines of cry/wolf, nuja/bes, ed/en, etc. ren’s eclectic online presence posts their music under the character 人 or alternatively the alias ‘person’ / ‘the people.’

The Rabid Wolf Universe

After reblogging those two pictures the best person in the universe drew for me (Waves at @princess-bedhead ) I realised that people reading this blog (if anyone I use it so rarely because I FORGET I have one) might not have any idea what is meant by RW So I’m gonna link the fic in it’s current state (It’s really due a re-write I planned it and the universe for it out in 2013-14) then add a read more about background information and some OC’s in the story :3

The Rabid Wolf universe as it where is a quite heavily AU Ninjago fanfiction (And before anyone asks their human in the story) which has my OC Dusk Hamachi as the main focus.

Dusk Hamachi is a twenty one year old living in Ninjago city after having ran away from his home village at the age of sixteen. He became a vigulanty at night using his shadow element and a wolf mask that earned him the name ‘Rabid Wolf’. During his crime fighting he met a then seven year old Lloyd whom had ran away from Darklys and got involved in an event planned to be explained in the story. 

The end result of which being Dusk taking in Lloyd and raising him like his own brother, while the two where intually happy in their appartment Dusk found his self coming across more and more runaway, orphaned and abandoned kids that needed help. Investing his money he managed to buy a warehouse and using his shadows as free labour created a massive home for his self and the kids he took in nicknaming them his ‘Moon Children’.

Lloyd is quite a bit different then his canon counterpart, for starters he’s explicitly stated to be albino in the story, though this doesn’t mean much besides him feeling a bit of extra kinship with Dusk over not being able to stand bright lights and feeling self conscious about the connection people make between him having red eyes and being evil. 

As stated before Lloyd ends up running away from Darklys at a much, much younger age then in canon and ends up getting saved from a dangerous situation by Dusk latching onto him as a source of comfort and family. I’d have to say that RW Lloyd is probably snarkyer then canon Lloyd and a lot less trusting and friendly towards the Ninja after getting strung up by them in Jermonikai village, despite doing nothing wrong. As the first Moon Child (Not the eldest) Lloyd feels like he should act as a big brother to all the other,s though he does let his ego control him every now and again. He and all the Moon Children also have Shadows created by Dusk hanging around them, they function as pets, tools and messengers for the kids obeying their orders and being able to bring Dusk right to them when needed. Lloyd’s Shadow stays amorphus most of the time and is named Konton ‘Chaos’ in Japanese.

Claire is the youngest charicter at rightly six or seven years old, even she’s not that sure as she suffers quite a bit of trama induced amnesia. All she’s really sure about is that she once had a family but something happened and their gone now with the only proof they where ever there being a photograph and a watch she never lets out of her sight. She’s one of the most rambunctious of the Moon Children often wandering off and getting into trouble despite the best efforts of her rabbit shaped shadow Hoshi ‘Starlight’.

Leah is around Lloyd’s age and is a selective mute, she has the ability to talk but due to events in her past refuses almost point blank to do so. To get around this she primarily uses tactile sign language which Dusk and the other Moon Children endevered to learn just for her, though in the case the person doesn’t know it she’s fine writing with a pen and paper. Surprisingly enough Leah has an eidetic and a prodigy with languages being able to learn them extremely quickly and happily acting as a translator for people. Her butterfly shadow is named Kaze ‘Wind’ 

If anyone wants to hear me ranting more about this universe I’m happy to, I’m seriously considering re-writing Man in the Wolf Mask and one day finishing it AND it’s two planned squeals Ninjago Viral and Golden Spiral. Maybe even the Alternate Universe Shot idea I had Guardian Dragon...

Hockeyverse Primer #1: “Meet The Team”

Alright folks if you’ve been around this blog for a hot minute you’ve probably heard me talking about this hockeyverse thing. Maybe you’re a friend who I’ve talked to about it enough that you’re begrudgingly curious. Maybe you’re humoring me. Maybe you’re just interested! Regardless of how you ended up here, at the first of my intro posts, welcome.

This is the barebones of our team, the Minneapolis Phoenixes hockey team. These are the twenty players, some of which you may be familiar with, some of which you might not have heard of. Just names, some core facts, and interesting details, so far. Want to know more about someone? Please don’t hesitate to ask! Hopefully this will bring you up to speed somewhat. More to follow soon.

Anatoly “Tolya” Sokolov. 29. Moscow, Russia. C/LW forward. 6’0”. Dirty blond, on the leaner side for a hockey player, wiry rather than Big. Hates the cold. Math prodigy. Perpetually eating cinnamon candy. #34

Blazej “B/Vlasi” Hostalek. 30. Ostrava, Czech Republic. C forward. 6’1”. Dark haired, unimposing until he stands up straight. Captain of the Phoenixes. Guilt complex a mile wide. Communicates more by meaningful arching of eyebrows than by words. #76

Derek “Monty” Montgomery. 26. Seattle, Washington, USA. LW forward. 6’3”. Warm-toned brown skin, broad-shouldered, generally relaxed posture just this side of a slouch. Makes a lot of motivational vines. Extremely good with knowing what to say when. Has a giant poofy dog named Snickerdoodle.

Eliot “iCloud” McLeod. 25. Portland, Oregon, USA. C/RW forward. 6’1”. Shaggy brown hair, rough hewn features. Mother and father from different sides of a family feud. Inherited his parents’ deep Texan accent. Almost frighteningly good with technology. #62

Iestyn “Tommo” Thomas. 32. Hope, Wales. Goaltender. 6’2”. Bearded, but not wildly so, light brown hair, dark blue eyes. Quiet enough to put people who don’t know better on edge. Hard on himself. Paradoxically encouraging and understanding to others, particularly Kai Makela. #60

Isaac Jensen. 21. Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. C forward. 5’11”. Curly dark brown hair, dark grey eyes, has dimples when he smiles genuinely. Heralded since Juniors as the “Miracle of Minneapolis”. People skills and temperament of a feral cat. Has lived in JP Delacroix’s attic since rookie year. #11

Jean-Luc “Moresie” Moreau. 33. Laval, Québéc, Canada. RW forward. 6’1”. Crow’s feet by his eyes and laughter lines by his mouth, light freckles not immediately visible. Number one instigator of prank wars. Perpetual silver lining artist. Common person to go to with your problems. #17

Jean-Pierre “JP” Delacroix. 36. Montréal, Québéc, Canada. LW forward. 6’6”. Short corkscrew curl hair, broad and strongly built as well as tall, wears reading glasses. Comes from a very large family (four sisters and a brother) with whom he has a good relationship. Tends toward ‘collecting’ people. Often starts conversations in the middle without giving the other person time to catch up. #26

Jesse Marvel. 19. Calgary, Alberta, Canada. RW forward. 6’2”. Flat, broad nose, expressive eyebrows, markedly square jawline. A morning person since he was a young child, gets up early and likes it that way. Hums to himself a lot, mostly radio songs stuck in his head. Happy go lucky. #28

Kai “Maks” Makela. 24. Lempaala, Finland. Goaltender. 6’5”. Combination of tall and gangly that makes him look like a baby giraffe, straw-blond hair. Instant friend to animals and children, especially cats. Competitive and headstrong. Brightens rooms with his presence, doggedly optimistic even when he has to fake it. #83

Leonid “Lyonya” Ilyushin. Saint Petersburg, Russia. 25. C/LW forward. 6’6”. Red hair, even brighter red beard, gestures with his hands a lot, very clear and numerous freckles. Has the entirety of Bohemian Rhapsody memorized despite not having mastered English to the extent of the other Russians on the team. Traded in mid-season a year ago. Party trick is that he can crack walnuts with his bare hands. #57

Marcus “Mark” Graham. 23. Washington, DC, USA. Defenseman. 6’3”. Unruly hair, scar on his lower lip where it was split twice, once in a bar fight and once in a hockey game. Younger Graham twin by two and a half minutes. Has trouble managing his emotions and impulses. Says what he thinks when he thinks it, even when it gets him in hot water. #36

Michael “Mike” Graham. 23. Washington, DC, USA. Defenseman. 6’2”. Hair even more uncontrollable than Marcus’s, habit of slouching makes him look shorter than he is. Older Graham twin by two and a half minutes, takes being the ‘big brother’ seriously. Internalizes things and compartmentalizes, taking the ‘deal with it later’ approach. Trying to maintain a strained relationship with his parents while Marcus has given up. #42

Paul “Johnno” Johnson. 27. Fargo, North Dakota, USA. Defenseman. 6’4”. Sandstone light brown hair, light grey eyes, strong jaw and nose. Doesn’t have a middle name. Unflappable to an almost concerning degree. Maintains an air of Midwest politness that seems like it must be fake until you get to know him, only to discover that no, that’s really just how he is. #14

Piotr “Petya” Afonin. 27. Chelyabinsk, Russia. RW forward. 5’11”. Blond, seems like he should be taller than he is given he carries himself tall and is otherwise broad and strong looking. Very protective and reactionary when he feels strongly about something, which is a lot of the time. Once did an interview for a high school newspaper in exchange for 3 pounds of banana bread. Makes a big deal out of birthdays. #94

Song “Bird” Chen. 20. Guangdong, Guangzhou, China. LW forward. 5’10”. Short hair that’s slowly growing out, prominent cheekbones, cool-toned dark brown eyes. Scrappy and kind of a smartass on the ice but fast enough to get away with it. Allergic to cats but has three with his roommate, Eliot. Autistic with a special interest in languages, speaks four and is currently learning two more. #23

Tony “Leo” Leonetti. 31. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Defenseman. 5’7”. A little scruffy looking, scar on his chin, brown eyes and brown hair. Taken Song under his wing given they’re both on the shorter side and have a similar playing style - fast, quick thinking, and obnoxious. Loud opinions. Has an ongoing feud with his defense partner Paul’s brother, Kyle, also in the league. #53

Tristan “Levs” Levesque. 24. Québéc City, Québéc, Canada. C foward. 5’11”. Stocky and has a short cropped, fade haircut with an angular pattern at the temples. Easygoing and friendly with just about everyone, but hard to get personal information out of. Likes to garden. Trying to teach his roommates, Kai and Uwe, to speak French, with very limited success, not that this is slowing him down. #31

Tyler “Coop” Cooper. 24. Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Defenseman. 6’0”. Lanky, looks more like a surfer than a hockey player, straight dark brown hair almost to his shoulders. Can’t swim and is afraid of the water. Trades places with his defense partner, Uwe, as number one in penalty minutes on the Phoenixes. Frank and honest, doesn’t beat around the bush or obfuscate what he means. #38

Uwe “Habs” Habicht. 21. Bielefeld, Germany. Defenseman. 6’3”. Imposing except for off the ice, where he looks uncomfortable with how big he is, has multiple tattoos, square chin. Pretends not to speak English when a reporter asks him a question he doesn’t want to answer. Cheats at cards, but is too good at it for anyone to prove anything. A good person, but not always a nice one (not mean, either, just not always soft). #6
