I’ve got a quartet of AU ideas, which boil down to,

- Animal Academy: where Ozpin gave both JNPR and RWBY Animal forms, and Jaune can turn into a donkey.

- Heavensent: A fantasy AU, where Jaune, a naive celestial, tries to lead a coven of witches from evil, only to constantly wake up the next morning in bed with them.

- Noble Hell-bound - A Fantasy AU, where Jaune is the Infernal the coven of Witches are trying to have empower them, but this Infernal Prince is far more interested in stopping other Infernals from entering the material world than taking it over.

- Beneath the waves, are ... my fishing lines - Deep beneath the waves, unknowable and unseen and unkind horrors lie sleeping, dying, and dreaming, for the day to retake the surface world, as they’re mighty thoughts touch the minds of those that reach into the dark, infecting them and bring them forth to do they’re bidding, so that one day, they will crawl out of they’re deathrest and vomit forth untold devastation and horror across the waking world!

Except Jaune, one of those mighty, not so sleepy horrors, who is perfectly content to fish and watch the waves, until his brethren wake up from they’re eon’s long nap. Now, if only these pesky cultist and sorcerer’s would leave him and his light-house be!

Also I gotta ask, how would the RWBY Halo story end up potentially jackknifing into multiversal crossover shenanigans?

Alrighty! So this AU can best be described as one of those cases where you spend all this time and effort coming up with characters, developing their backstories and lore, figuring out how they all meet and come together... and then realize you really have nothing for them to actually... DO.

To whit; this AU imagines Team RWBY as a team of SPARTAN-IIIs who fought in the tale-end of the Human-Covenant War and are last surviving remnant of the ill-fated 'Project ARTEMIS', basically 'What if Beacon was a SPARTAN-III training facility?' There's actually a whole crazy backstory I came up with for their story that involves more or less the Fall of Beacon if it was the Covenant instead of grimm and a lot more people died and also Team RWBY fights a one-team guerilla war against the Covenant for the better part of a year before escaping in one of their ships.

However, that wound up just being part of the background for Team RWBY in this AU, because this story would be starting up two years Post-War, with Team RWBY having become innovators in SPARTAN armor modification and brought on to help design and test the next generation of MJOLNIR suits.

And now we come to everything else, because I also decided to come up with a whole host of other characters for this AU. In this case an entire ship and crew that Team RWBY is just one part of that I put a LOT of thought into that can basically be summarized as 'A ragtag bunch of misfits MADE UP OF ragtag bunches of misfits' (which includes Team RWBY). Just the ship alone I thought up as this refitted frigate that was used as a test-bed for all sorts of experimental technologies but wound up so over-designed that nobody was sure what to do with it, so it go assigned to a crew that nobody was sure what to do with.

(also, the frigate is named the Molon Labe, mostly because I am utterly baffled as to why seemingly no Halo ship has been named that yet.)

I had a ship, I had a crew, and I had no idea what they'd actually be DOING. So because at the time I was really into crossover fics, I came up with the idea that after the ship got some upgrades from a friendly Forerunner Construct by the name of 1883 Pensive Delineation (literally Penny as a Forerunner AI), the ship suffers a freaky slipspace/FTL accident that sends her and her crew rocketing across the multiverse for numerous misadventures.

A few of the places/series I was thinking they'd end up:

Mass Effect - Where the crew has to first get their bearings and figure out they are in a whole other universe and also avoid getting dragged into any galactic conflicts because due to cross-universe tech-levels, they're kind of freakishly overpowered compared to the locals.

Fate/Zero - Where the crew gets embroiled in a lot of magic chicanery and also has to try REALLY hard not to get spotted by 1990s humanity. Also they accidentally take Artoria and Irisviel with them when they leave.

Zero no Tsukaima - More magic chicanery and also the crew isn't able to lie-low in orbit/under the ocean again, so now they just have to try REALLY hard not to get embroiled in pre-industrial political powerplays and backstabbing with a bunch of mages who REALLY don't know how to take 'No' for an answer.

(also at some point I was going to have Artoria start wearing a spare suit of MJOLNIR armor. So that would have been fun :D)

Honestly, if more people are interested in this idea, I'll probably just post some of the more interesting parts of the notes I've been jotting for it over the years XD

11) “Is there any OC of yours you could describe as a ‘sunshine’?”

Loopy Crulle: WAY TOO EFFIN’ BRIGHT. Sure the NBI!Abomination Head has family issues, but she masks that pain with humor and entertainment. This is also evident when she is involved in the topic regarding the Day of Unity, cause she wants to cheer everyone up once she took the Abomination Council Chair. The NBI Healing Head is kinda irritated towards Loopy’s cheerful persona.

14) “Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory”

Darian Vernworth: He exaggerates this as “tragic,” but tbh he has a point: being part of the Basilisk experiments was a terrible memory for him. He was the one that led the Basilisks to escape the Emperor’s clutches, and it was successful. However, Darian was caught by Coven members and he ordered the rest of the basilisks to scramble for the exit together, while he pushed back the Coven by himself. But he lost his tail to Warden Wrath in the fight. The worse part is that Darian tried to get his brother, Adrian Graye (he was part of the experiments in my version for his story), but Belos appearing to round up the runaway basilisks forced Darian to flee and hide for years. He feels guilty for leaving his brother behind.

21) “Your most artistic OC”

Cherry Zitrino: While I will say that Darian and Loopy have creative talent, I want to direct my attention to Cherry (even though I have yet to reveal their appearance) for this question. As a cook, they have a “special ingredient” when it comes to making edibles, including potions: thermokinetic spit that also generates different effects, like rashes (they can be creative, so they can cause a sizzling kind). Cherry is a former Coven Scout who once worked on shifts in the cafeteria. They would often encounter bad colleagues, especially Coven Heads Terra and Adrian. Cherry doesn’t directly retaliate back, but they will spit on their colleagues’ edibles without any of them looking at the future council witch. Otherwise, their “The Bar Slinger” name will be unleashed. Off the question, but Cherry’s character is planned to be a mix of Demoman (TF2) and Popeye the Sailorman.

30) “Which one of your OCs would most likely have a secret stuffed animal collection?”

Ripley Wolsteen: Van kept stealing her stuffed animals, so she stored them away somewhere hidden in her house where the palisman can’t snatch them. Ok, well, Ripley does take one when she and Van go to work for the latter’s comfort. Also, kinda unrelated to the question, but the Beast-Keeper does like soft materials, such as fur.

The Titan’s Council are associated with the Turncloak-and-Dagger (TAD) AU. Basically, they work for Belos and shit goes down from there. This includes secret rebel activity.

Loopy’s surname is named after a French donut called a “cruller.” Her aunt’s surname is also named after a similar donut: a “Spritzkuchen.”

Ripley is named after a franchise called “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!”

Absolutely cursed concept art for when I was figuring out Darian’s new hairdo a long time ago. I used Adrian as a base to see how it looks:

Not TOH-related: I have a whole new land I created for the Marioverse. It’s called the Primus Empire, and its environment is inspired by the early 20th century, mainly the 20s to 30s. It’s an industrial superpower with a very fucked up government. I have a blog dedicated to that, @carrotdetective, but it’s kinda bare as bones atm, due to me developing deep into the characters more for it. BUT—since I’ve been dumping this info onto a friend, I can summarize the story behind it:

So, the Primus Empire is the setting of Detective Dynoraptor, a 3-Act story inspired by both Darkwing Duck (series) and RWBY for the Marioverse. You got The Sharpeye, a vigilant detective agency on a mission to take down two crime syndicates, the Scarlet Bandits and Cerulean Thieves, warring with each other across two split regions of the empire: Rache and Venari. While investigating the disappearance of another detective agency (including other mysteries), The Sharpeye gather clues that connect to a cold case.

Summer rose (who is alive) is pretty busy with her new job, bit she can't leave poor, 14 year old Ruby alone all the time in the house.

So what does she do? Why, send her off to a magical world with her dad and her sister for the summer, or course!

Yang and Ruby get along so well it's scary. Tai and Qrow now have two monsters on their home.

"wdym you don't have summer break here? That's tragic. Can I go to witchy school too?"

So she does

At first, Ozpin was a little hesitant to let in a half witch bc of the bullying she might endure. But Tai proposed that it was only for a few months, and Ruby would leave anyway

He agrees. "Don't get in trouble" he says

She gets in trouble

Oh no. She befriends Blake, who wanted to "get even" with this white haired girl for being so mean to her . This white haired girl who turns out to be Weiss Schnee herself.

Blake and Ruby are friends but only bc Blake owes her one but y'know what she's nice Blake thinks,,, a little sister, mayhaps. A little sister indeed when she sees her older sister, "hoo boy is it hot in here or is it you- wait no. Keep it together, Blake"

Weiss does not like Ruby at all "what are you doing here, hybrid? Shouldn't you be on you stupid human School? Or are you not allowed there too?"

Ruby: "Oh god you're scary, pls don't 🙏 we can be friends :D??? Oh she left..."

Weiss, in her head: "who the fuck is god?"

Ruby runs along the woods and encounters a beast, a BEAST! WONDERFUL! SHE CAN SHOW OFF HOW WELL SHE CAN FIGHt and she doesn't have magic. Oh well. It's been a good few days. Oh, someone saved her

"hey, are you okay?" The stranger with the sweetest voice asks. She even has this pretty white cape and gold belt and- oh it's an emperor's coven guard. One who apparently, must be from the higher-ups, considering the gold mask.

"fine. I'm fine" Ruby looks away bc ohhhhhh she has such a pretty voice gay panic gay panic g-

"you must be the half witch, no? I've heard so much about you." "Good things, I hope?" "..." "...good things, right?..."

After that incident, she now has a mysterious guard friend.

Weiss still dislikes her, a lot. And it doesn't help that her sister and Blake are too busy flirting with each other. One faithful day, she catches resident bully; Cardin Winchester, talking to Weiss. It doesn't sound good at all, they sound aggressive. It's an argument. Ruby couldn't hear much, but Weiss seemed intimidated when Cardin stepped closer, a spell circle ready. Oh, that wasn't gonna fly.

"Hey, leave her alone" says local half witch who hasn't mastered what little magic she has. Cardin laughs bc c'mon she's so short and tiny what can she do

Oh she took karate classes

Oh woe is Ruby who got sent to detention

Weiss is waiting for her outside the school. "Are you crazy, hybrid? You could've gotten expelled!" "Well, you could've gotten hurt!" "I can defend myself, thank you very much. I'm stronger than you! I have magic!"

Ruby looks down "right..." Weiss grabs her wrist and inspects it. "He grabbed your hand very hard, does it hurt? Why would you even do that? You think you're some strong hero? You could've gotten killed!"

Ruby looks up at her, fascinated. "Oh... Uhm, sorry." She pulls away and runs back home.

Slams door open "YANG I HAVE A CRUSHES WHAT DO"

Ruby explains like "So this one girl the other day was soooo nice to me and saved me and she has such a pretty voice and today I got sent to detention for protecting Weiss and after that she was worried I'd get hurt and she held my hand and she was checking if I had bruises and she tucked her pretty white hair behind her ear and-" "YOU GOT WHAT"

Ruby has been meeting up with her new guard friend. She's never seen her face :/. When Ruby asks about it, she goes "Just promise me you won't tell anyone, okay?" And Ruby lifts up the mask and stares at the green eyes of a cute redhead with a pretty smile.

Ml RWBY AU-

I wanted to write a basic sheet of what all the characters are and their weapons to keep track of shit, it’s pretty long though- has all of the characters on except Lila cause I’m still working her out, but here’s everyone!

Note: These stats are not permanent and things can and will change. People who know spoilers will know what I mean.

Marinette- Ladybug Faunus, antenna. Her semblance is Cure which is a wide spread heal on both objects and injuries. This takes all of her aura usage and she has no control over how much she can use yet. So training it is actually learning how to suppress it’s power to lower quantities of aura use, so for now, she always uses it at the end of battle to heal her team with whatever remaining aura she might have left. Her weapon is a wire blade yo-yo. It can plant bombs and it can open up to have three blades, like a saw.

She named it Lucky Charm. - Adrien- Cat Faunus, ears. His semblance is Deteriorate. Basically a slower and smaller version of cataclysm. However it can be used more than once. His weapons are two arm blades (holds it like a police baton, think the hidden blade from Assassins Creed). The stretch out to around three feet. They fold inwards and turn into wrist guns (like yang but more.. stabby) They shoot out grappling hooks (the hook is the blades) that let him swing Spider-Man style. It’s cool, but he’s absolutely shit at it. He named them Cataclysm and Catastrophe - Alya- Fox faunus, tail. Her semblance is illusions that can destroyed when touched. Her weapon is a flute that turns into a rifle and a machete. She named it Vixen’s Hearsay - Chloe- human. Her semblance is Paralyzation. It’s basically just venom except she had to physically touch someone for it to work, it wears off eventually, and she has to tag someone again or wait if she wants them to unfreeze. Her weapon is a rifle with a long bayonet attached(Hellsing Anderson style)- which can also shoot out and become a grappling hook. She named it Queen’s Defiance - Nino- Turtle Faunus, scales. His semblance is aura enforced and fueled shields and force fields. His weapon is named Emerald Horizon and it is a giant discus with blades lining it. No gun unfortunately. - Kagami- Human. Her semblance is basically like Nora and Adam’s fused. There more electricity she intakes increases the strength and damage she can dish out in one single KO move. Very specific but very powerful. Basically Zenitsu She wields a sword that can split into two of she needs to. She named them Rajin and Fujin. No gun. Only sword. Only stab.

- Kim- Monkey Faunus, Tail. His semblance, Discombobulate, when activated, temporarily deletes one of someone’s five senses. Whichever sense is randomized. Has Sun’s weapon except it becomes a bow instead of a gun. It’s name is Dark Cupid. His arrows can explode. - Juleka-Tiger Faunus, tail. Her semblance is Obscurity. She can turn completely invisible. To turn more than one person invisible, she must be touching them physically. Her weapon is two sickle turning shotguns that she calls Lament and Coven. - Rose-Human. Her semblance is Charming Fragrance. She releases a toxin in the air that can mind control people. However she can’t control its range and who it affects yet. Her weapon is a backpack that either turns into or holds her grenade launcher. She named it Blooming Love - Luka- human. He has a cutlass that turns into a flintlock. His semblance is Banshee. He screams. Exactly what it sounds like. It can crack concrete. He named his cutlass Basilisk. - Max- human. His semblance, Vision, switches people’s vision but not body control, and he can also look through people’s vision without them knowing. His weapon is a sniper rifle that folds into a boomerang. He named it Markov’s Faith, after his.. ‘Secret Project’

- Ivan- Human. He has a giant fucking war hammer that turns into a machine gun. He named it Titan. No semblance yet. - Mylene- human. No semblance yet. She has ribbon she can wrap around opponents and thwart them. Smgs are attached to the end - Nathaniel- human. no semblance yet. He has two long hooks that have revolvers at the end that he switches between. Their names are Orikko and Sunrise. - Marc- Goat Faunus, Horns. No semblance yet. Sniper that turns into a club. He named it Reverser - Alix- Rabbit Faunus, ears. Her semblance, Time Hop, lets her see, at most, five minutes into the future. Basically Shulk’s thing from Xenoblade. What she does with this information depends on her, and makes need to be wise about her decisions. Her weapons are her legs and (also her EmberCelica-like gauntlets). The legs aren’t named cause they’re just her legs.. but they’re strong. Her gauntlets are named Heart and Ace. Both versions of her Prosthetic robotic enhancements that can turn into rollerblades on a whim. Her battle legs are bent and rabbit leg molded to make her run faster. Yes this means she can and might run on all fours if she’s not skating and just needs to bolt, it doesn’t help her dignity but it could work. She can also jump really high and far with these legs.  The heels of these shoes, regardless battle or not, can shoot out bullets and dust.

- Sabrina- Human. Her semblance is called Parakeet. It makes her able to perfectly imitate other people’s voices, and it can be very chaotic. Her weapon is a purse that turns into a chainsaw and a smg. She named it Hellsing.

Yeah someone pointed out the Trading Card Game thing. In hindsight, it does make perfect sense.

Of the names, Luz n’ Friends sounds really funny. Like a sitcom or something. Eda is in her cursed form ripping up the house and everyone is like “Well SOMEone hasn’t had their morning coffee” *cue laugh track as she flings a chair across the room and everyone is standing there with their hands on hips* 

But GWAL sounds cooler, like AWOL. I don’t know, it’s up to you. You’re the one supplying all these juicy ideas, the least you can have is naming them.
