Bit of an older head canon of mine but James isn’t too fond of his smile. He had braces in middle school, which he got made fun of for and eventually grew into a habit of just not smiling with his teeth. And not to mention just covering his mouth when he laughed. That habit stayed with him for a while until he met the MFE’s. I do really like griffkade so id wanna say the first first he ever smiled with his teeth with / laughed with out covering his mouth would be w/ kinkade

The MFEs went through so much shit

Lance was 17 when the Blue Lion left, so it's safe to assume the MFES were too. Sam's back a year later, making them 18ish, little over a year later Sendak invades, so they're 19/20.

Since James is outside when the invasion starts, it's safe to assume the others are too. So they see their teachers get gunned down. They see Adam (who I hc as a mentor for them) die.

Meanwhile, Sam is telling Sanda that a bunch of 19, maybe 20 year olds are their best defense. So, after the first wave is wiped out, they send out the MFES.

they've spent the two years preparing for war, and now they're fighting. They survive, and within a few hours, go on their 1st ever mission to retrieve supplies with Veronica, meeting her for presumably the first time.

(Also, can we take a second to appreciate the fact that Kinkade is casually balanced atop a moving vehicle? )

Anyways, as they're loading up the train, senteries attack.

And the weapons that were supposed to keep them safe? Do nothing. Then Veronica sacrifices herself to save them, a bunch of kids she barely knows, and they're devastated. This is their first ever mission, and some dies.

Can you imagine being 19/20 and watching someone die? Their first day, first few hours in a centuries long war, and they've just seen people who trained them, who watched them grow up, along with someone they barely know yet sacrificed herself for them, die.

And yeah, Veronica comes back, but until then, they'll feel responsible, even guilty for her death. We have no idea what else happened between then and the paladins return. But it's war, so they almost die a lot, they get injured, they carry each other back to base and fall apart together, mourning all that they've lost.

Later on, they're making their big stand against Sendak

once again, they're the only real weapon the Garrison has to defend themselves against the Galra. They have been for three years. This is their last stand, and while there's always been the threat of death, now it's almost certain.

they're going in with the assumption that they'll die, they have 12 minutes to live, but maybe, just maybe, the Atlas will be able to launch, and the others will be safe. Voltron is captured right now, and they have no weapons left, so this is it. They're 22/23 now, still fighting in a war older than their galaxy, one that has destroyed their home, and are buying time for their only hope.

They went through so much, yet their experience is talked about so little. Witnessing the invasion firsthand, watching Earth become a collection of ruins, not knowing if those they love are even alive, nearly dying themselves.

They should be out drinking, going to clubs, concerts, taking little risks and making fun mistakes, not risking death every time they leave base. Yes, the paladins had their teen years and adulthood ripped way from them, but the MFEs did too. Why don't we ever talk about that?

Love the idea of Veronica getting the opportunity to sort of parallel Shiro with the MFE pilots and I wish there'd been more travelling back to Earth content to see what else occurred when team Voltron disappeared from Earth.

Like imagine like 3 of your classmates disappear after washing out of a class and your school is being super weird about it all and then your mentor ends up being the sister of one of the people that disappeared. Do you talk about it? Do you mention it? Would she?

Like just an episode every couple of seasons that just explores the situation on earth for a while as we see things change rather than like just towards the beginning of the team getting back to Earth. Keep us linked to the stakes.

Favorite nuerodivergant headcannons for Voltron LD?

Ooo I like this one! I’m going to do neurodivergent headcanons as well as mental health headcanons because I don’t think all of the characters are neurodivergent. Ok let’s start!

Voltron Paladins:

Shiro: He canonically has PTSD, although the show stopped focusing on it after season 2. So I’m going to keep that. He definitely has panic attacks (as we have seen) but has a good control on his triggers. He has to, to keep himself and his team safe in battle.

Keith: BPD and autism you cannot change my mind. You can’t tell me that after all the shit that poor kid went through in his childhood that he doesn’t have BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder). He checks a lot off the boxes. The sudden mood changes, aggression, abandonment issues, and feelings of worthlessness or inadequacy. As for the autism he mainly experiences sensory issues surrounding sounds and touch. We all know about his social skills. He also has insomnia.

Hunk: I think Hunk has GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder). He’s had it since he was in elementary school. It mainly consists of catastrophizing and physical symptoms. His heart races, and he sweats a lot.

Lance: He has combined ADHD. A classic case as a kid: SUPER hyperactive, couldn’t sit still, and couldn’t focus. His processing speed is a lot slower making it harder for him to learn in an average school environment. This made him self conscious growing up, thinking he was stupid. It’s something he still struggles with.

Pidge: Best girl disease! Jk. She has ADHD, autism, and is also a fellow insomniac. This girl will hyperfixate and work herself for hours. The team comes to do routine checks on her when she’s researching to make sure she rests. She isn’t really hyperactive but does have a hard time staying still. Catch her rotating clockwise as she types away on her laptop.

MFE Pilots (this is self indulgent):

James: With his strong sense of justice I can see him having a little bit of the ‘tism. I used to headcanon him as having BPD as well but now I’m more leaning towards Bipolar II. This goes a long with some other headcanons I have for him, I’ll make a hc sheet for him soon.

Ina: She has autism. She was diagnosed at 3 years old. Her parents were tipped off by the fact that she was selectively mute when she was younger.

Nadia: Also has ADHD She mainly struggles with her impulsivity issues. She has a really hardy time keeping organized. Did someone say organized chaos? Her rooms always a little bit of a mess but she knows where everything is. Once she sets something down she can never find it.

Ryan: I literally can’t think of anything for him, he’s just a neurotypical guy. Nothing wrong with that.

MFEs are strong AF

first off, look at these stats

J: 15 N:13 R:18(!!!) I:12

They're pretty damn high. To compare, look at these

K:6 S:10 Z:12 S:11

(These numbers are def low but still) That's a HUGE difference.

Not to mention, Iverson's over here incline benching 205lbs (looks like 45 & 35 on each side, bar is 45), and Nadia is chilling besides him, like she's waiting her turn. Ryan just counted out 30 pull-ups like it's nothing, which is no easy feat, especially for someone as bulky as he is

Then in these stills, Ryan and James's chest are big. That doesn't come naturally, that's pure muscle, takes years to build. All of their flight suits show muscle curvature, which takes a lot of time to build up. Being strong is one thing, looking strong is another thing entirely. The broadness of Nadia and Ina's shoulders? Muscle. The shadow cast on their belts on the last photo? Their back muscle. Even if you're puffing your chest out or just have more body mass, that much shadow/curvature is from a muscle mass.
